Maybe 4.5?! All I know is I’m officially making Mallory Marlowe an auto-buy author!!👏 she was not a one hit wonder!!
What do you get when you mix a cinnamon roll Man in Black and an influencer on the brink of cancellation? A hilarious and heartwarming rom-COM🥹
A mysterious UFO sighting, a secret government agency, an unlikely duo teaming up to figure out what is going on and who is hiding what! They had banter, they had chemistry! They’re both underdogs who believe in the other! There was no third act break up!
Dual POV (+ fantastic narration on audio!!!) - if you liked her debut you’ll love this one too! It’s so cute with a few spicy scenes too and I binged it in a day! Highly recommend!!🤩

Deeply enjoyed this sophomore outing by Marlowe. The characters were so fun and their chemistry was out of this world! I can't wait to see what else this author has up her sleeves.

Love At First Sighting by Mallory Marlowe, when L goes to shoot footage for her influencer page she’s up in the California Hills when out of the blue a bright light starts following her having no close friends and not being close to her mother who only uses her for money she decides to go live on Instagram. everyone thinks she’s having a breakdown and doesn’t believe she saw a UFO… Well everyone except for Carter he is at the bottom of the totem pole for the men in black branch of the government he lost his dad at 10 and was raised by his dad‘s partner Marcus who is unemotional and standoffish. after begging Marcus to investigate else’s UFO sighting he starts his government sanctioned stalking and feels instantly attracted to L. at first she mistakes him for another paparazzi but when he finally can get her to stand still he explains to her what she saw is exactly what he saw the night his dad died. with her influence and his government insider knowledge they soon start investigating the case but where it leads will be heartbreaking to say the least but at the same time heartwarming on so many other levels and dangerous on all of them. I have had so many books on my TBR pile that was just disappointing so when I started reading this and loving all of it I was so happy this book totally makes up for all the bad stories I’ve read in the past week and if not for the needless detailed sex scenes I would’ve rated this five stars but having said that the story is definitely a five star but with the two chapters of sex I took a star away but whoop-Dee-doo I am one person this is an awesome read El and Carter are totally worth rooting for they’re so likable, not to mention I love the character growth with L and it has men in black or PIS, who doesn’t love that? Her roommate in the bird nest was hilarious and it made for such an enjoyable entertaining read! #NetGalley,#BerkeleyPublishing, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview, #MalloryMarlow, #LoveAtFirstSighting,

Mallory Marlowe has done it again! I adored Love and Other Conspiracies, so I had very high hopes for Love at First Sighting. This book met and surpassed them! Marlowe writes amazing, realistic characters with great emotional depth, while also managing to make her books humorous. I loved El and Carter, and I thought they were both very well-done and realistic main characters. They both had their own struggles, and I enjoyed watching them work through them together. I loved the romance between them as well, and thought they had great chemistry!
The plot of this book was very fast-paced, and I loved the paranormal and mystery elements. I really like contemporary romances that involve paranormal aspects (aliens, conspiracy theories, etc.), and I had such a great time with this book! I thought the concept was fun and unique, and I would 100% recommend this book! :)

I mean this was fine. It was entertaining. There is definitely a lot of disbelief you have to suspend going into this one. I overall ended the story but wasn’t blown away.

Honestly, I wanted more aliens and conspiracy, but it was a very cute book. I am utterly biased as I'm usually more of an actual paranormal romance reader, and this is very much not that. No one is shape changing, no one is abducted. There are no actual aliens. It's all background. Which is fine, but a little disappointing. They're both very cute characters, and they have some fun little adventures solving their mystery. Worth a read if you want something fun that isn't TOO light, but also doesn't have too much in the way of heart wrenching drama. Just enough drama for plot purposes.

I loved Mallory’s debut and so I had high expectations for this one - despite apparently never even reading the description. I was disappointed at first that this wasn’t an interconnected series, jumping to the story of someone we met in Love and Other Conspiracies. I also didn’t connect to El and didn’t really want to connect to an influencer main character. So it took me a minute to get into this one, and I may have quit it if it hadn’t been and ARC.
That being said, about halfway in, I did get invested in the characters and story. Carter is undeniably sweet and easy to root for, and once it gets going, the story moves fast. El’s journey to more freedom and authenticity made her more and more likable. It’s playful and fun even with some serious plot lines. I loved that Carter found El right when he needed her, and their romance was fast but very sweet.
Check this out for a new take on the Men in Black and or for an influencer de-influencing herself from influencer culture!

4 stars. I was a HUGE fan of Marlowe's debut, and I am delighted to say that I also really really enjoyed Love at First Sighting. In the world of rom coms, Marlowe's books feel unique, given that they feature romances where character end up hunting cryptids and creepies and aliens. But in all of the other worldliness, everything feels 100% believable. This isn't paranormal romance or even magical realism. It's 100% full blown rom com, and I am here for all of it. Love at First Sighting features a romance between a popular influencer and a genuine men in black, and the combo is positively delightful. The romance is really sweet-- both characters grow a ton and Carter is just the sweeties, golden retriever type of character. We get a bit of a mystery as well, that turns out to be quite high stakes. Plus, a lot of banter, tension, and laughs. I think Love at First Sighting has officially cemented Marlowe as an auto-buy author for me, and I truly look forward to whatever she releases next!
Thank you so much to Marlow and Berkley Romance (Berkley partner) for the advanced gifted copy!

SO GOOD! Oh, I had no idea I was going to love this book so much. I read it mostly in one sitting, it was so engaging. I immediately bought the author's first novel after finishing it. The romance was perfect for me, but what got me so locked in was the mystery part! I've always loved MIB and reading a book with a MMC being one was so good. I'll never forget this book!

Once again, I’m drowning in the softness of Mallory’s writing! I wanted to love this book as much as her debut, and I did. I adore the tone of her books: fun, light, with a perfect bit of sadness and a great balance between romance and mystery.
The romance between El and Carter made me swoon. As the title says, Carter is completely smitten with El the first time he sees her. It’s not instalove, but insta-oh-my-god-she’s-so-gorgeous-i-might-die-from-blushing-so-hard 🥹. Carter was such a cute, soft boy. The scene where he realizes he’s falling for El is now one of my favorites ever. And I enjoyed El’s development so much! From living a life of appearances and fake smiles to finding her own voice and happiness in her adventure with Carter. They were a perfect match 💜🛸
The mystery plot was also great. I sensed a bad vibe from /that/ character pretty soon, but this story was more about finding the truth about Carter’s dad’s death and less about the guilty one.
This makes a 2 out of 2 five stars for Mallory’s books! I’m so excited for Entities to Lovers!
TW: Gunshots
Rating: 5/5
Steam level: Open door, 3-4 scenes, medium level of detail

Funny, romantic and sweet mixed with aliens? Sign me up! Everything about this book sucked me in.
The characters, El and Carter, were great. I really enjoyed El's arc since she's an influencer trying to find herself after feeling like she's losing herself to her online image. I thought her story was an interesting take on the modern influencer and how that can take a toll on you after a while. I felt her journey was pretty realistic. Carter is similar in that he's consumed by his career. I thought both characters' arcs were well executed and meaningful.
The romance here is sweet and romantic. These two felt a spark from the start. They were too cute together. The chemistry and tension between them was well written too.
The plot was fast-paced and kept me intrigued. Perhaps needed more aliens but that's just my monster loving self haha.
A really entertaining romcom!

I enjoyed this second book from Mallory Marlowe, it's a fun dual POV adventure romance between El, a Los Angeles influencer and Carter, a secret agent who works to identify and coverup extraterrestrial sightings (think Men In Black). When El accidentally captures a UFO on film it goes viral, putting her on Carter's radar and when he helps take down her viral video, it sparks an internet firestorm of disbelievers who think she was crazy. Wanting to learn more about what El saw, Carter starts following her only to find himself outwitted at every turn.
Eventually the two team up and together they uncover a bigger secret within Carter's agency than either was expecting. There was lots of personal growth and emotional depth in this one and some spicy moments. The narrators were two that were relatively new to me and I thought they did a decent job. Overall a lighthearted read with some poignant moments about taking chances and putting your real self out there. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy and @prhaudio for a complimentary ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you Berkley for the eARC! All opinions are my own.
If you loved Mallory Marlowe’s first book Love and Other Conspiracies, then I think Love at First Sighting will be right up your alley! This book is Men In Black meets Get Smart with a gen z style influencer twist, all wrapped up in government conspiracies. With this book we meet El, an influencer who has a chance sighting of a UFO which gets her somewhat cancelled online. We also meet Carter our resident secret government agent who works for the Private Intelligence Sector (PIS lol). Together Carter and El investigate the sighting, which also leads them to investigating more!
Some things I liked about this book was that the story line felt fresh and the references within the story weren’t too much to where this book will be outdated within a year. Some things I liked less was the lack of aliens and ythat this was a bit too insta-love for my preference. I still had a good time and highly recommend this to anyone and everyone.

My first Mallory Marlowe and definitely not my last! Love at First Sighting really just has the perfect blend of humor, action, and spice!! I can’t wait to check out her other book and her future books after thoroughly enjoying this one!!
While I’m usually a snarky muffin who enjoys sassy MCs in her books, I really loved Carter’s and El’s very genuine back and forth that was fun without being overly sarcastic and dry. It has very light humor which was a great contrast to the overall mystery and action that ran throughout the story. I found myself reading it so fast and not being able to put it down because the balance was perfect!
I loved that both of them were underestimated; he was a quintessential underdog who was relegated to fixing printers and coffeemakers for the government, while she was a beautiful influencer who was thought to have no brain or original thoughts. I loved how throughout the story we found out that they were both so much more than people gave them credit for and that they never doubted each other for a second. Seriously, their support for each other from partners to lovers was the thing of dreams!! This felt like such a best-friends-to-lovers story, but they were strangers! Incredibly impressive feat to accomplish, especially in this page count!
Adding to this, their chemistry was amazing in that it felt very genuine and homey, rather than surface-level sexy with no foundation. I loved watching them work together and grow closer, especially since neither of them had anyone else in their lives who truly cared for them. At no point was there a third-act breakup, because it just wouldn’t have made sense with how ingrained in each other’s lives they had become and how important they were to one another.
I thought the mystery was very interesting and I loved watching it play out. Further, I loved watching Carter’s feelings about everything shift with each piece of new information, while El was sure from the beginning (and she was right! See she’s not dumb!).
The level of spice was perfect for the overall story: not too overwhelming or descriptive that it distracted from the main plot, but also not closed door.
Thank you to NetGalley, Berkley Publishing Group, and Mallory Marlowe for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
4.5 stars!

⭐️⭐️⭐️
A SOLID 3 stars. A quick, fun read about A UFO sighting leading to being stalked by a hot Man in Black.
[I read the ARC via NetGalley.]
Characters make or break stories from me and I would spent hours knitting Carter & El homemade sweaters. They are SO WHOLESOME but also sexy and funny??? How the author achieved this I do not know.
I feel like this story is a few drafts away from 5 stars. The vibes were there, the characters were lovable and Carter’s ARC was perfection. Unfortunately, I feel like El’s character growing left more to be desired. The “perfect” influencer bit was overdone and we only got to see small peeks of her past, whereas I knew Carter’s every move from age 10.
This may be corrected during editing, but formatting for social media posts vs IRL happenings was a little confusing for me to follow in the beginning. I had to reread a few sections to double check if the convo was online.
The dialogue either hit just right…. Or felt a bit cheesy or clunky. Aaaaand there were too many times I cringed vs giggling.
Overall, though, I LOVE these characters and will read anything the author writes. It fills my X-Files fangirl heart <3
——-
More in-depth notes I made while reading (not posted publicly):
confusing to follow as El goes through her phone or reads comments—- make it clearer which is IRL vs phones
-writing is clunky in certain scenes in the beginning. Ex: Her showering- it doesn’t flow well and I feel like it could use a smoother transition to explain how it triggered her
-chapter 5 dialogue is a little clunky. I think it works if it was a little more fleshed out. Agent Carter is a little too trauma-informed/professional to feel like an authentic interaction.
-The POVs are a little redundant

Love at First Sighting was a great followup to Conspiracies, though maybe not quite as strong.
I love myself a golden retriever MC, and I'm learning I can count on Mallory to give them to me. Carter felt relatively fresh, compared to MCs I normally read, in that he wasn't afraid to feel.hus emotions and cry when his body was telling him to. And I appreciate El for being a woman that feels fear but doesn't let it rule her.
I'll admit that this story was a little wild for me, between the Influencer and Man in Black, but also, duh, it's in the title of the book. So it's not fair of me to complain. I was definitely entertained though!
Sighting is a very cute, easy romance read, perfect for fall.

This one was fun and different! I really enjoyed the men in black plot. It was unique there being an alien subplot. El and Carter were so cute together. This was an easy laugh out loud read. I was kept hooked the entire time.

This was a fun and a really weird read but in like the best way. You have a cinnamon roll hero with all of these conspiracies and aliens just in the background which makes it so much more entertaining.
The thing I was not expecting with this book is that it is definitely a romance. It does not shy away from that, but there's so much more of a mystery element to it than I was expecting and it just added to the story for me. It's not even a secondary element. It really is a large part of this book.
El captures an unidentified flying object and Carter is assigned to follow her to keep the things his agency is doing under wraps. The two of them work together to solve this mystery and of course the more time they spend together the more connection they feel.
If you like conspiracy theories, romance, Men In Black, a cinnamon roll hero, then this is the book for you. Pick it up. You will not regret it!!

Obsessed with El & Carter. This was a fun story of adventure and romance. The emotional journey Carter goes on is *chefs kiss* because it made me laugh, cry, and overall filled my heart with so much happiness.
This book comes out in August, and you need to read it! While you're waiting you can read Love and Other Conspiracies because there might be some little cameos ;)

A perfect mix of romance, mystery and adventure! Carter and El are too adorable, expecially Carter being a lil photographer in his suspenders and hat. Not as funny as Love and Other Conspiracies, but this one had more action and the romance was just as sweet. Maybe I was hoping for a little more in the way of aliens, but a definite binge-worthy read.
(The main characters being Gen Z made me feel really old!)
