Thank you to Berkley Romance for the free book!
Influencer El thinks she has spotted a UFO and shares the footage with her large audience online. She is followed by a real-life Man in Black agent named Carter, who wants to know all about her possible alien encounter. Carter has a personal connection to UFOs and is determined to solve his own mystery connected to his tragic past. El might be just the person to help him.
I really enjoyed Mallory Marlowe’s debut, and this book was much different but still unique, fun-filled, and sweet. I loved the Men in Black vibes, the mystery, the conspiracy and cover up, and Carter most of all. Although I don’t always love influencers as main characters, the tongue-in-cheek, silly way it was approached made it humorous rather than obnoxious. I’d suggest this book to anyone who is looking for a quirky and unique rom com with conspiracy theories, Men in Black agents, and a sweet love story with no third act breakup.

This is my second novel by this author and I loved this one too. The dual point of view between Carter and El allowed me to get to know each character so well that they became real people to me. El and Carter each bring hurtful pasts to their relationship and both have excellent character growth arcs that were believable and consistent with what I had learned about them. I loved their banter and laughed out loud often. Their growing friendship and romance warmed my heart and soul. I appreciated despite this having a rom com kind of feel to it, El and Carter never had a break up to overcome, but instead worked together to solve a mystery all while learning if they could be vulnerable with another person.
The mystery was really well done and had tense and dangerous moments in which I had to pace the room because of the high stakes. I am a fan of both The X Files and Men in Black, and this novel definitely had those vibes. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the early digital copy for an honest review.

El is a social media influencer and Carter is a federal employee with Men in Black vibes. When El spots a UFO, Carter takes her case. This is a fun one that involves shenanigans such as breaking into a federal office, uncovering alien bodies, and distracting your attacker with your discount codes.

💜 “You’re not really a teen until you have at least one bad run-in with jungle juice.”
💜 “It might not be as bad as it could have been, but we don’t get to choose what leaves scars on us. We don’t always decide what leaves a mark.”
💜 “Treason calls for a little treat.”

OMG I saw this cover and immediately had to read it! the first in this series was so cute and I couldn’t wait to get to this one. it was a little different but still had the humor and chemistry that I loved from the first book. the men in black MMC Carter was so cute and awkward I just loved him and the way El didn’t take herself too seriously. they were so supportive of each other but yet it didn’t feel too insta-love to me.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for a review.
This the second book by this author I’ve read and I enjoyed the first book so much! I highly recommend listening to Love and Other Conspiracies.
This isn’t a traditional sequel, though there are some easter eggs from the first book for fans. This book follows an influencer who has a close encounter and a secret government worker who tries to help her uncover the truth.

Everything I've ever wanted in a romance book was in this one! No third act break up, a mix of romance AND mystery, made better by the subplot of UFO tracking and government cover ups! Need I say more?
We follow El and Carter as their paths cross after El's chance encounter with a UFO while live-streaming. Carter works for PIS, the government agency that oversees UFO sightings and subsequent coverups. As they embark on a journey to track down the UFO El claims she saw and seek answers to questions from Carter's past, El & Carter find a little bit more than that.
I found this book to be so fun & unique! A romance I truly have never read before, but one I have always been looking for. I appreciated that the overall mood was playful and unserious while both main characters were very mature and entertaining. The character growth we got to see from both El and Carter were really beautiful and I look forward to reading more books from Mallory Marlowe in the future!
Thank you to Mallory Marlowe, Berkley, & NetGalley for sending me an early copy!🖤

What a fun premise! Mashing up an influencer with an MIB...excuse me, PIS is such a fun treat for the paranormal enthusiast who's also chronically online.

Whomp whomp - I absolutely loved Love and Other Conspiracies so when this became an arc I couldn’t wait! Unfortunately it really fell flat for me. Didn’t get super exciting until the very end and at that point my mind was made up. Lots have loved this one and rated it higher so maybe give it a go for yourself! But bummer I didn’t like it. Thanks Berkley Romance for my EARC!

This is my first book by this author, and it was a quick, cute read. I was expecting more aliens or even just UFO stuff, but there isn’t much. There is a mystery though, & I enjoyed how it played out.
I’m not a huge celebrity trope fan so the fact that the FMC was an influencer was a bit meh for me, but I did like that she wasn’t a total dingbat & didn’t really flaunt or brag about her wealth. But what was the point of the storyline with her mom? It just becomes a plot hole.
The MMC was cute but he just felt really young. I really liked how the relationship develops between him & El though.
I’m a big found family fan, so the fact that basically EVERY side character in this book is terrible was kind of disappointing. It’s really just the MCs against everyone else.
There are some cringy moments & dialogue, but overall this one was fun.
𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗴𝗲𝘁:
👽she’s an influencer, he’s a Man in Black
👽insta-love
👽solving a mystery
👽no miscommunication
👽no third act stupidity
Thank you to Berkley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely adored Love & Other Conspiracies so no surprise this was also a 5 star read for me. And of course loved all the mentions of her first book throughout! At first, I thought the characters were going to read a little to Gen Z for me but Carter will melt you into a puddle and El's growth is extremely admirable. I loved that the story line wasn't overly obvious. A fun read for anyone who loves podcasts / true crime / conspiracies! Excited for Mallory's next book given the snippet she has at the end of this one.

This was everything I was hoping it to be and more!! I LOVED Love and Other Conspiracies, it was one of my favorite reads of last year! So getting this arc was A DREAM! And it was just as good!! it felt like a classic procedural TV show in the best way. And with the old school noir feel?? I really loved everything about it.
I reaaaally loved El and Carter’s instant connection and attraction! I don’t always love insta love, although as I’m writing this I feel like I say it every time??! So maybe I DO like it!! I think in this case since it felt like a classic procedural it just really worked for me??? Cause the forced proximity just makes everything better?? And the threat of aliens!! All the detective work and the cutie little stuff the two of them were doing in between and the plot twist villain reveal! They were cute and fun! And El’s influencer life was silly but I also really like how seriously she took Carter and his job and how much it meant to him that she was on his side! It just was SO GOOD!
I really liked El and Carter. They were SO different and they really didn’t seem like they should have worked on paper. BUT THEY DID. Carter is quite honestly THE SWEETEST MAN. And it’s really exactly what El needed. She needed someone real and honest and someone who was going to REALLY care about her?? And he really he needed the same.
I’m very excited for what’s next from Mallory! I am a HUGE enemies to lovers fan!! And this ghostie vibe she’s got going is really SO GOOD!!
Thank you to Berkley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!!

I did not have a social media influencer/men in black romance on my list this spring (well, I did, but you know what I mean). I also only read hetero romance when it’s offered as an ARC, though I have to say, I’ve learned to trust Berkley because they choose really well.
This is a serious story about finding the person who loves for who you really are, and not who the world expects you to be, wrapped up in an adorably goofy tale of two gorgeous and awkward strangers meeting in extremely bizarre circumstances only to discover they have a common interest, only to discover they are extremely attracted to each other, only to discover they’re each who the other one has been looking for all their lives. It is funny, sweet, strange, sad, uplifting, and satisfying in turns and it had a depth to it I didn’t expect when I first started, which iI appreciated Marlowe’s ability to maintain while giving us car chases, fashion montages, (maybe) alien encounters, and epic villain monologues. Plus an ex-fuckboi magician named Aleka-Sam, which I am still giggling about.
Also, such a perfect portrayal of what the men in black division of the federal government would be like if it were real the way we would like to imagine it’s real (I say this because I am aware that aliens were supposedly declassified, whatever, we have bigger problems).
At the end of the day, Love at First Sighting is a reminder that you should always be yourself. Unless you can be Batman. In which case, honestly, still be yourself. Because there is someone out in the great big world who will think you’re the brightest star in the sky.

El Martin is an influencer in LA living her (seemingly) best life. Lately though, she wonders if anyone really knows or loves the real her. When she captures live footage of a UFO, her life turns upside down - this is not the content people want! But the Private Intelligence Sector - government sanctioned Men in Black - take note. Agent Carter Brody is assigned to El's case. He's been wanting to build his career and follow in his dad's footsteps of success. Plus, whatever El saw looks suspiciously like what he and his dad saw before a tragic accident. Now questioning everything, Carter and El work together to get answers. Their growing chemistry helps them to see what love can really look like and they become a great team. But the mystery puts them in danger and the stakes are high! An out of this world adventure romcom.
Come for the aliens, stay for the cinnamon roll Men in Black agent. I loved this one - the adventure, the total opposite love interests, the suspense. El, though an influencer, was surprisingly down to earth and Carter definitely brought out the best in her, and saw past the filters, followers, and brand deals. Both were searching for love - true and genuine, which wasn't what they knew previously. I loved El's confidence and Carter's ability to believe in himself. He was so entirely gone for her and it was adorable. If you've ever thought you needed to read a spicy romcom with an alien government conspiracy - then look no further !

In Love at First Sighting, El Martin, is a disillusioned social media influencer who live-streams a terrifying UFO encounter not expecting the type of "realness" her world has just cashed into. Unable to be deterred by Agent Brody, El quickly joins forces with him to solve the decades-old mystery of a very similar UFO-related accident that killed his father. And of course... as rom-com's go, the high octane stakes, forced proximity and general tossed-togetherness of their situation leads not only to big discoveries, but big feelings too. Marlowes sophmore novel has me snorting, snickering and groaning out loud as I tore through the pages. El and Carter's relationship is all things wholesome and sweet despite both of them living in and operating in worlds that are built on manipulation and subterfuge. If only someone would turn this into a fully fledged noir-style movie so I could replay the scenes on repeat in the background of my life...forever.
What to Expect: Forced Proximity, Opposites Attract, the Beauty and the Nerdy Government worker, Kissing as a Cover, X-Files meets MIB vibes, sexy suspenders, he falls first and harder, smexy office shenanigans 🌶️🌶️, and great banter.
Trigger Warnings: Death of a parent in childhood, manipulative stage parents, neglectful foster parents.
Rep: PTSD
Readers who enjoyed Love and Other Consiracies will want to note that while these books live in the same 'verse they are interconnected only as much as Carter references his failed case during which he tried to convince Hayden that UFO's/Alien's weren't real. 😛
This book will appeal to readers who can appreciate the tongue-in-cheek nature of some more fantastical alien-related conspiracy theories. But I'd say lovers of Lana Ferguson's cryptid-themed books, Avery Flynn's witchy wonders and Sarah Hawley's creations will thoroughly enjoy Love at First Sighting.
Instagram Review should go up about 2 weeks before pubdate @Bedsport.Books

This was super fun! El and Carter were lovely characters that just made you want to root for. El is an influencer that is tired of being someone she’s not. Carter is a literal Men in Black, who investigates El after she “sees” a UFO. This had finding yourself, action, mystery, and romance. Highly entertaining and now I want to read more books by Mallory.

This story had tension, banter, mystery, and action. Our main characters, El & Carter, had wonderful character arcs (both individually and together) and I loved all of their cutesy flirting.
What really makes this book stand out for me is how it balances the fantastical elements with real emotions.
The X-Files, film noir vibes are strong, but Marlowe does a good job of keeping the supernatural elements just ambiguous enough to maintain that "what if" feeling throughout.
Very cute and entertaining romance!
Thank you NetGalley and Berkley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Mallory Marlowe has done it again with this paranormal contemporary romance. I loved her debut novel, Love and Other Conspiracies, so I had high expectations for this one and it did not disappoint! This story had tension, banter, mystery, and action. Our main characters, El & Carter, had wonderful character arcs (both individually and together) and I loved all of their cutesy flirting.
Fans of the X-Files will surely love this one! The expected publication for Love at First Sighting is August 12, 2025, so go ahead and add this one to your pre-order list! Thank you NetGalley and Berkley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review!

Mallory Marlowe, please do not stop writing these books. This was so cute. This is the second book in recent memory to make me love a blond man. Carter is the sweetest, green flag mmc from beginning to end. El was cool, but I was a bit aggravated with the constant reminders that she’s an influencer. However, her last line at the climax of the book? It was cheesy and incredible, made me laugh for a good few minutes. Skipping this read would be a mistake. Absolutely stoked for Entities to Lovers.

Love at First Sighting delivers exactly what you expect from Mallory Marlowe, a mix of romance, mystery, and just enough supernatural intrigue to keep you guessing.
When LA influencer, El witnesses what she thinks may be a UFO sighting, she finds herself up against Carter, a government agent investigating her claims. What starts as a professional encounter quickly becomes something much more personal. Marlowe has crafted a story that manages to be both lighthearted and surprisingly deep, exploring themes of grief, self-discovery, and finding genuine connection in a world full of surface-level interactions.
What really makes this book stand out for me is how it balances the fantastical elements with real emotions. The chemistry between El and Carter feels natural and earned, and I found myself rooting for them from their first awkward encounter. The X-Files, film noir vibes are strong, but Marlowe does a good job of keeping the supernatural elements just ambiguous enough to maintain that "what if" feeling throughout.
Very cute and entertaining romance!

I loved the first book, so I was really expecting to adore this one. Sadly, that was not the case. Like others, the influencer vibes of the main character were too prominent for my taste, and I really didn't care for the love interest, who seemed more a teenager than a member of a Men in Black type organization. It wasn't bad, just not at all what I hoped.
