Game on is a refreshing and lovable sports romance.
On Ella’s first night in America, she runs into Hudson. They immediately hit it off and it gets spicy, but what follows is a story of gold. An English girl living her cheerleading dream in America, when she bags the star quarterback. You may be thinking “oh how cliche cheerleader and football player” but Ella and Hudson are so much more. She understands him in a way no other girl has, and he doesn’t hold her back from being bold. They respect each other in a way that makes this book feel like reality and not a fictional story.
Game on draws you in from the start, and it holds you there while Ella and Hudson get the happily ever after they deserve.

I had a difficult time getting into this story but it did have some positives for me. I’ve personally never read a sports romance that focused on cheer, so that was fun for me! I also thought that the characters were supportive of each other and had good mental health representation. Overall I thought it was okay but it just wasn’t for me, I also have had a harder time getting into college age stories lately so that could be it!

I really enjoyed seeing the characters progress in this story. The story was well paced and well written. I was hooked from the beginning and devoured it in just a few sittings.

Because who doesn't love a sports romance?? This book was so cute and fun! I just adore it and all of the characters within

Ki is one of my favorite authors ever. This book was no exception. I adored it. so much heart and joy and I had so much fun reading

I've never met a college sports romance I didn't like, and this was no different!
I have to say I've never read a sports romance with a cheerleader FMC and I loved it! So many sports romances would make the cheerleaders some kind of evil OW or mean girl, but this book didn't bother with that cliche for our FMC and I couldn't have been happier. I also love a college romance with an MMC who isn't a total asshole/manwhore. The tension was so good with this book and the spice was amazing. I had fun :)

she’s an exchange cheer student from the UK and he’s an athlete at her new university. i can definitely recommend this book for fans of sport romances since it’s probably one of my favorite books in this category. if you have been following me for some you i could have noticed that i am not such a huge fan of sports in books, and i mostly read these books from the already known authors, however, this one was truly great.
i want to start my review with talking about chemistry and tension between main characters because it was soooo good. i can’t remember when was the last time i read a romance with such developed tension. also!!! i’d definitely say to avoid this book if you don’t like spice because this book is filled with those scenes. i wouldn’t classify them as super intense or hot but the chemistry was truly unique.
moving to the storyline. the book definitely follows an interesting plot since i finally got to see a professional cheerleader and an athlete. however, here comes something i didn’t enjoy as much. the moment of him finding out something at the end was so unnecessary. he has only found out about this news and of course he didn’t tell her but the moment was overly dramatic. why was she so angry for no reason?
the end was sweet and predictable but i’m definitely not complaining!

The book was fine. Not my most stellar read but I felt happy at the end of it. She's English and on an exchange program to be on a top cheer team in the states. He's a top football player but deeper because he's into the Classics and has a rough backstory. I'm not normally an inst love/lust kind of reader but I actually liked their initial interaction. The plot is predictable and in this low stakes game it's fine. I thought the author was more of a teller than a shower and that got a little frustrating to read at times. I also had an issue with the FMC and her friends from back home, they were supposed to be the best of friends but they were mentioned maybe twice and I don't think they ever actually found out about her and the MMC. It felt odd and disconnected that she boasted about these girls yet didn't talk to them at all during her YEAR away. All in all it was a fine read, predictable, low stakes, and just a happily ever after with no third act break up which was good!

This is the kind of book that has you grinning, swooning, and maybe screaming into your pillow a little. A fun, flirty, can’t-put-it-down romance that delivers everything.

I’m not sure how accurate this book is on anything (cheerleading? Football? Exchange student making onto a highly ranked cheer team? Ella being British?), but I enjoyed the relationship between Ella and Hudson and the mental health rep the author always does. I was a little more interested in some of the side characters and their relationships though.
I need a Claire/Levi book!

I didn’t hate this book but I didn’t love it either
It was probably the most unrealistic book I’ve ever read and I read shit with dragons
A British cheerleader studying in Oxford doing a year abroad to study in Nashville who is ostracized by her working class made good parents who never wanted her meets bad boy, turned good boy, who was rich boy, turned boy and is secretly a nerd who is also the football quarterback who with sec championships and who’s father was a nfl star but abandoned them
Yeah ok…
The only saving grace is the MMC, who if you ignore the silliness of throwing trope spaghetti against the wall, is sweet to the FMC even if, and especially when she doesn’t deserve it.

Thank you so much for the ARC. This book was adorable. I loved the characters. I really enjoyed that it was not the typical quarterback/cheerleader romance.

Thank you St. Martin's Press for sending me this ARC! Game on is a very easy read, and a great book for those entering romance genre. The chemistry between Hudson and Ella was cute!!
This book is very heavy on dialogue & I felt like a lot could have been cut as it didn't add to the story in my opinion. I also kept forgetting Ella was British. With this book being so dialogue heavy, there really wasn't any phrases/slang that she would that were British.
This book mainly dragged for me, but I honestly don't think I was the best target audience to read it. While this book wasn't for me, I still think younger readers will LOVE this!

ARC REVIEW!!!

I really really enjoyed this book it was such a fun read. I was a little hesitant at the beginning but once the plot picked up I couldn’t put it down. I loved all the growing friendships and communication at the end of the book i think it was written very well. I definitely recommend this to a sports romance book lover!!!!

This book was such an easy read but also very predictable and cliché. I hated Ash getting injured for the development of Ella and Hudson's relationship ☹️

i'm forever unwell because of this one. oh how much i adored it. NOW REVIEW TIME!
game on by ki stephens follows ella, an english cheerleader spending a year in nashville, and hudson, the star quarterback who’s sworn off distractions. from the moment they meet, the tension between them is undeniable, and they agree to one night together only. but when they’re forced to spend more time together, their “just one night” pact completely falls apart and the lines begin to blur.
ella and hudson are just perfect for each other. their connection felt so real and effortless, and i loved every moment of their story. hudson was so caring and gentle with ella. he never made her feel like she was too much, never treated her struggles like a problem to fix. he showed up for her, again and again and i nearly cried at one point when he stepped in.
the ocd representation was also handled with so much care and thought and you can tell how much effort went into making it authentic, and it meant so much to see that on the page. i really loved how ella showed that trauma responses aren’t a burden, that love doesn’t mean having to be “easy” all the time, and that hudson deserves someone who meets him where he is. their relationship was everything, and i truly couldn’t get enough of them and wanted forty more chapters.
also, no third-act breakup??? PERFECTION CHEFS KISS A+ ALL THE STARS!!!!! i love when a story focuses on growth and love without unnecessary annoying drama, and this book did that so well.
this book is truly just everything i wanted and more. from the very first page, i was hooked and could not put it down. ki absolutely nailed it with this book, and i cannot wait for everyone to read her first traditionally published novel because she absolutely exceeded any expectations that could have been made (,: i am just so proud of her and ahhhh i'll shush now.
overall this book is fun, emotional, swoony, and just so well written. if you love sports romance with lovable black cat characters this is a must-read!!! and i have a feeling we'll be getting a certain couples story next 👀

This is a first by this author for me and I loved the characters and the growth that they showed throughout the book.
Ella is such an independent and truly amazing character. I loved that she could hold her own and how she went after what she wanted. Hudson is an anamoly because as a football player he isn’t your usual jock that you see in books and I loved that about him.
A very fun read and I loved all the hilarious but sweet moments. These two grew so much and didn’t hold back when it came to discussing how they felt!

This was okay- a fluff piece with immediate spice and little buildup. I may have read this at the wrong time so maybe my book hangover from my previous read is clouding my judgement but honestly, it’s not very good.
Thanks NetGalley and SMP for an ARC!

4 stars- I thought this book was super cute and I love the cover! I wasn't expecting the "twist" of Hudson also having a background in cheerleading so I enjoyed that different take on the football player/cheerleader narrative. I liked how Ella and Hudson grew together as friends and then into more. I hope we get more books in this world in the future- specifically Claire and Levi next!

I really enjoy this author and her storytelling, and her newest book is no exception! I loved this sports romance that wasn’t your ‘typical’ male sport only romance!
