I was so emotional during this whole thing. I loved the time loop and I loved how these two were stuck there. The growth and I just thought they were so cute. Obsessed. Loved. Adored. Wanted more.

I didn’t expect to get caught in a time loop of feelings, but It’s You Every Time pulled me in. From the first moment Sydney meets Marcus at Dunkin', I was hooked. Yes, the day keeps repeating—but somehow, it never gets boring.

The story blends romance, grief, and a bit of magic in a way that feels really honest. I loved watching the characters open up and grow with each loop. And the writing? So smooth and relatable, I felt like I was right there with them, reliving the day too.

If you’re into emotional YA stories with a twist—and characters you’ll root for—I definitely recommend this one. It surprised me in the best way.

Marcus and Sydney keep replaying the same day over and over but yet it's making them grow stronger in love as well helping with the healing of each others grief. Caused by the loss of the ones they loved dearly. But why is this happening and how does it all end? You'll have to read it to find out. I truly, through teary-eyes enjoyed this YA novel from the first to the last page. Job well done Ms. Thomas.

Thanks again also to @netgalley for the eARC and @scholastic for the printed copy of the book for my review and honest opinion.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this title early, I apologize for not being a very fast reader. It's You Every Time is a young love story about two teens who meet each other at a coffee shop and explore the city of New York...again....and again....and again! I really did love this book. This story is so light and refreshing, I love reading Black love stories and this story particularly is sweet but also keeps your attention wondering what will happen next. I, especially, really loved how the city itself. You can tell the author had a love and knowledge of the city based on how she wrote about it. It's almost like the city is its own character and it is so fun read.

The only thing that I had trouble with throughout the book is the layout. The version that I received, didn't have standard chapter breaks so it felt like a lot at once. I think it would have worked better for me if, in my version, there were physically more empty space in between the days. As I continued to read, there was a break header that said "PPP" and that was confusing for me, but I received an ARC, so I understand that the layout and other aspect could have been changed before the final version was published.

All in all, I recommend reading this book especially if you want a sweet Black romance in NYC that dives deeper into some emotional and serious topics. The way its written is beautiful and feels encompassing of the characters. What a beautiful and wonderful way start reading Charlene Thomas.

Time loop stories have always been fun for me so I was intrigued to read this one from the start. Following Sydney and Marcus as they navigated this weird space they were stuck in made this both a bittersweetly cute and reflective read. I enjoyed watching the get to know and fall for the other a little more as the day reset and the design touches on the page were nice additions to their budding relationship. I fell in love with these two more and more as the story went on and was glad to see them find little pockets of happiness within their dilemma.

What I wasn't expecting, but ultimately got the most from with this was the exploration of grief. Both Sydney and Marcus are walking around with their own burdens of grief and I was glad they had each other to help them both talk through and get some sort of closure on those feelings. This is always such a heavy topic, but it was balanced out with lighter moments and was ultimately necessary for character development, which was great to follow.

I really enjoyed this one for everything I took away and look forward to reading more from this author in the future!

Special thanks to I Read YA, Netgalley & Colored Pages Book Tours for the gifted addition to my shelves!

I really enjoyed this story! It was original, heartfelt, and deeply healing. The time loop element immediately caught my attention. I remember thinking, Wait... are they dead? Are Sydney and Marcus "stuck" reliving the day they met? That mystery kept me hooked.

In the midst of this strange and frustrating cycle, something beautiful happened. They formed a deep connection, found comfort in one another, and created small moments of joy within the pain.

As the loop repeated, it slowly peeled back layers of grief and fear that Sydney and Marcus were holding onto. And no matter how many times they tried to become "unstuck," the loop held them until they finally faced their pain and fears head-on. That's what stayed with me most.

The message I took away is that we're not meant to carry grief & fear in silence. There's always someone willing to hold space for us.

Overall, this book is a soft, hopeful reminder that healing is possible and that you are never truly alone. I highly recommend!

Thank you, Partner, @bookedwiththeemilys   @charlenethomasbooks for the #gifted arc and letting me apart of this tour!

I feel like I don’t want to say too much to spoil the magical realism of this book, but it takes places in NYC with a meet cute at Dunkin Donuts (don’t we all want to meet someone just doing the normal things we do everyday?? (I do lol)). Marcus and Sydney spend the day together exploring the city (my favorite kind of getting to know you dates) and there is just something about each other that feels familiar…

This is a cute YA romance that is out now!

Ebook Review
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
"It's You Everytime" by Charlene Thomas is a coming-of-age, young adult romance that hits and handles some very sensitive and heavy topics, like grief, loss, and self-discovery. Sydney and Marcus's journey was something amazing and heartfelt to read. Because honestly, I would question how you keep going when your world has stopped.

On a lighter note, this is a meet-cute romance as well. I highly recommend this book.

Thank you, NetGalley, and Scholastic for the ebook in exchange for my honest review.

Okay, pause everything. I just finished It’s You Every Time, and I feel like Charlene Thomas just politely dragged my entire soul through a therapy session wrapped in beautiful prose and raw honesty. If I could tattoo a book on my brain, this would be it. This isn't your average “let’s fix your life in five easy steps” YA novel. Oh no—Charlene takes your hand, looks you in the eye, and says, “Sweetheart, you are the common denominator in every pattern you keep blaming the universe for.” And somehow, it doesn’t feel like an accusation. It feels like a breakthrough. Her voice is so real—funny, sharp, loving, and completely no-nonsense. It’s like your wisest friend, your older sister, and your therapist got together and said, “It’s time.” Whether she’s talking about self-sabotage in relationships, career anxiety, or those sneaky little narratives we tell ourselves to stay small, she doesn’t just call you out—she calls you in. Inward. Home. Publishers, take note: Charlene Thomas isn’t just writing books—she’s changing the way we talk to ourselves. This is the kind of book that gets under your skin in the best way, one that readers will pass around like a secret weapon for self-awareness. It’s bold. It’s heartfelt. And it’s so necessary. And Charlene, if you’re reading this? Thank you. You didn’t just write a book. You wrote a mirror.

Sydney and Marcus time together was a world wind of emotions for me. I screamed "What happened to them?" so many times. I thought something completely different from what was actually happening. However, I really enjoyed reading about their "todays" and all the things that they experienced together. I was not ready for the emotions to hit me at the ending of the story... grief and loss will have you all over the place by itself, but you tie in a love story with it. EMOTIONAL OVERLOAD!!!! Tears were rolling over here.

This is the type of book that after finishing it will stick with you for a long time. Reading the journey that both Sydney and Marcus go on definitely shows the different stages of grief and how each one deals with it but to see them be a cheerleader for each other while they deal was so beautiful to watch. I would definitely want to see this book as a movie in the future.

Short story: Sydney bumps into Marcus on a spontaneous trip to Dunkin Donuts and they spend an unforgettable day together. Then after an accident at the end of the night, she finds out she’s stuck repeating the same day all over again.

My thoughts: I adored this time loop story, it was so well done! I loved the adventures that Sydney and Marcus went on together, I loved living vicariously through them as they ate their way through the city and visited some really interesting places.

I loved how beautifully the author wrote the underlying messages of grief and loss. Both stories were so hard to read at times, but I loved the acceptance and the growth they both experienced throughout the story.

This is such a great YA story, with a lot of depth and a great message at the end!

Read if you love:
* Time loop stories
* Feeling like “I know you”
* Strangers to friends to more
* Adventure
* Grief and loss

Groundhog Day for two teens who have suffered great losses, this book deals with grief and loss. Sydney is tired of disappointing her parents. She wants to be a chef, not a doctor. Marcus is avoiding the most painful day of his life, one he feels directly responsible for.

So when they both admit to each other that they are aware of their repeated days, at first they use those days for fun. Different kinds of no-consequence fun every day. Sounds like a blast, right?

But eventually, Sydney wants more. She wants to move on (preferably with Marcus). It even puts a wedge between them at times. Gradually, though, over 30 repetitions of the same day, they reveal more and more of themselves and their pain, and they eventually agree to face their fears and try to have a REAL tomorrow.

The love story here is sweet, and the author does a really good job of showing the progression of grief.

I don’t think it’s much of a spoiler to tell you that Marcus and Sydney eventually come “unstuck”, and in the epilogue, the author drops some breadcrumbs about their “stuck in time” history that I really, really, would have liked to know more about.

Possible Objectionable Material:
Death. Teenage making out. Worried parents. Parental pressure. Skipping school.

Who Might Like This Book:
If you can suspend your disbelief about repeating the same day multiple times, give this book a chance for its sensitive portrayal of two teens coming to terms with themselves and their losses.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing an advanced reader copy in exchange for my opinion.

This book is a swoonworty YA romance featuring two Black teens that are stuck together in a time loop in NYC. This was such a quick read and I was thinking how great it would be to add to my classroom library because I will be teaching a reading class next year! As I was reading it I noticed the way the two teens spoke was pretty spot on to what I hear daily in the classroom. I was also surprised by how emotional this book got for a time loop book. There are some major themes of grief and loss and I really enjoyed how the main characters connected and supported one another through it all. Recommended for all ages of YA readers.

This book is a heartfelt and emotional read that explores love, loss and the complexities of fate. After meeting and being stuck in a time loop Sydney and Marcus confront personal losses and their evolving relationship and their relationship and connection really is beautiful! It is a young adult novel but the author was able to capture the teenage emotions without all of the drama and I really enjoyed that! It's a great read that shows even when things are challenging , growth and healing are always possible! Thank you Tbr and Beyond Tours and Charlene Thomas for sharing this book with me!

This is a YA title that deals with big issues. It’s impossible not to fall in love with Sydney and Marcus. From their meet cute in a NYC Dunkin’ to their exploration of the city to their deep conversations; they are achingly vulnerable and find comfort in each other.

Grief and loss are central to this book, but they are handled with tenderness and compassion. Watching Sydney and Marcus learn to live with their pain is transformative. Underlying the grief is the realization that love does not stop with loss. Figuring out how to love through the pain is a process and it’s handled beautifully in this book.

“I never realized it could be this way, you know? That things could be this happy and also be sad at the same time. That life can be both, you know what I mean?”

I haven’t read YA in years–and It’s You Every Time opened my eyes to everything I used to love about the genre in the first place. At first, it was a bit of a challenge to adjust to the formatting of the ebook (e.g. white font, weird page breaks) however I can’t complain since it was an eARC + I got used to it pretty quickly. Tbh I want to own a physical copy just to reread the book with its proper, intended formatting :')

You can expect a time loop that makes this YA romance reminiscent of 50 First Dates; main characters who are navigating life while holding onto unspeakable grief–like so many of us do every day; dual POVs that give us insight into both of our main character’s hearts & minds; and of course, *all* the tears. I am in the camp of believing it’s best to dive into this book blind, so do yourself a favor and stop reading reviews to convince you–take this as your sign to pick this baby up b/c she’s officially out in the world as of May 6th! 🎊

💌 Thank you to the author herself & Scholastic Press for allowing me to read an eARC of such a beautiful story. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

This YA romance follows Sydney and Marcus as they are stuck repeating September 24th. After a fateful run-in at Dunkin, their lives become intertwined in a sweet tale about grief and healing.

This is the first book I have read by Charlene Thomas and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the pacing was good and the writing felt authentic and clear. I was rooting for both of the main characters throughout the entire book. It was a joy to watch Sydney and Marcus meet and evolve throughout the book. I think the author did a good job of writing a believable romance that didn’t feel too insta-lovey. I think the theme of grief was explored with care and depth. I think the book also had a really powerful message of ways to handle grief and heavy emotions.

Thank you so much to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with the eArc for this book. All opinions are my own.
