“Who wants to be forgotten?”
🕖
Sydney Michaels stops for breakfast at Dunkin one fall NYC morning of her senior year as she avoids a pre calculus exam. Marcus Burke also stops for bite at the same time as he avoids something else altogether. When they literally collide they decide to play hooky and spend the day together. Only the next morning it’s yesterday all over again as the two are stuck in a time loop with no hope of getting out. How will they move forward with life and a budding relationship when they can’t escape September 24?

I BEG of you not to sleep on @charlenethomasbooks This YA romance was FANTASTIC in every way possible. I adore a time loop trope and this one was the most unique I’ve read thus far. This book is a testament to human will, strength and spirit, in addition to being such a sweet love story. I cannot wait to get it in my middle school library when it releases May 6 from @scholastic
CW: grief, death of a sibling, death, drowning, parental death (recounted)

how did a YA book make me cry that hard? this one put a dagger in my heart oh my.
premise: Sydney Michaels wasn’t looking for a life-changing moment when she stopped for breakfast. but then she met Marcus Burke. their day together was something out of a dream—effortless, unexpected, and full of the kind of connection you don’t just stumble upon. for the first time in a long time, Sydney let herself believe that maybe, just maybe, things were finally looking up.
and then BAM! in a split second, everything changed.

my thoughts:
the way this story unravels is both breathtaking and brutal. one moment, you’re falling in love alongside Sydney, soaking in the magic of New York City and the thrill of new possibilities. the next, you’re thrown into a nightmare as time resets, forcing her to relive the same day, the best and worst day of her life over and over again. the grief in this book is heavy, the confusion is raw, and the desperation to make sense of it all is painfully real. every reset feels like a punch to the stomach, making you wonder if Sydney is supposed to fix something… or if she’s just stuck in an endless loop of heartbreak.
i really thought it would be a love story but it's not. It’s about loss, fate, and the terrifying question of what happens when the universe won’t let you move forward. the writing is gorgeous but haunting, pulling you into Sydney’s emotions so deeply that by the final page, you’ll be left staring at the wall, wondering how to move on.
if you’re looking for a book that will wreck you in the best possible way—this is it. please please read it!
thank you so much Scholastic Press!!

OMG I don’t even know what words to use! This book is gorgeous, story and cover. Sydney and Marcus are so easy to fall in love with and their story is cute and heartbreaking and endearing. I haven’t cried over a book since reading Where the Red Fern Grows as a kid, but I was choking up and I admit I had to wipe a few tears. The story is worth every tear, every smile, and every laugh it triggers.
I cannot recommend this one enough. I’ve already been gushing to several of my friends.
