I was able to get the first 24 Chapters of this book thru NetGalley and I couldn’t put it down. This book picks right up where it left off and continues to give you the 4 POV. In the first 24 Chapters more connections are made between characters and I can’t wait to see how this story ends when the book releases 8/5! All the earlier books are available on Kindle Unlimited so I was able to binge read this series before starting this book. This is a great series with a variety of characters and great world building. Highly recommend picking up this series if you have enjoyed other Danielle Jensen books.

This action packed start is the start of an epic ending! I wouldn’t expect anything less from Danielle Jensen. With everyone unsure of where each are and where their allegiances lie and how to save them ( maybe even from themselves). I can not wait to see how this book ends for our characters! All good things must come to an end and wrapping up this series and Bridge kingdom next year will be exciting to see from Danielle Jensen and I’m glad to be a part of the journey!

Based on the first 24 chapters of Scorched Earth, Danielle L. Jensen sets the stage for an intense and emotionally charged finale to the Dark Shores series. The stakes are already sky-high, with Lydia’s inner struggle against the Corrupter adding a chilling layer of tension and Killian’s burden deepening as he fights to protect her. Teriana and Marcus’s storyline is equally compelling, grappling with moral ambiguity and the fallout of past decisions. The pacing is swift, the character development rich, and the world feels as dangerous and vivid as ever. While I’ve only scratched the surface, the setup promises a thrilling, high-stakes conclusion filled with sacrifice, shifting alliances, and the kind of fantasy drama that keeps you turning pages.

Great addition to the series, can’t wait to see what happens. I always love Jensen’s writing. She knows how to make the great depth in her characters.

This is not for the entire book, but Danielle has yet again, thrown us into the action with a dynamic start to the end of her amazing series!

I could gush all day about her and her writing, but if you're here, wanting yo read this book, you'll get more of what she has offered from this series !

Amazing character development, adventures, a growing world, and of course.... CONFLICT.

I look forward to getting to read the rest of this book!

*Thank you NetGalley, Tor Publishing Group, and Danielle for the early 24 chapter except!*

WHAT A WAY TO START AN ENDING. This book picks up right where the last two books left off with both sets of couples. And even in just the first 24 chapters (which I think if I've read right is still only a small portion of the whole book) you start to see the climax build with more information becoming available. I love Lydia and Teriana's friendship and can only hope that everything will work out for them in the end.

I would also like to confirm that Markus is my top Danielle MMC still. Period. Killian is great and all, but Markus. That man is pure Danielle L Jensen perfection!

I cannot wait for this book to publish in August so i can devour this whole book and finally put this whole story to rest!

The excerpt covered chapters 1-24 out of 122, and I am hooked already. It's so good to see Marcus, Teriana, Lydia, and Killian again. These chapters are already filled with political conflicts and magical conflicts. Each couple is still struggling with their relationships for various reasons, which heightens the tension. Agrippa is still hilarious. I cannot wait to finish reading the rest of this book. I know I'm going to be in for a world of hurt because Danielle Jensen will put her characters through the wringer before letting them see happiness. And I am here for all of it.

The excerpt was fantastic. Can't wait to read the rest. This is the fourth book in the Dark Shores series.

Thank you to Tor Publishing and NetGalley for an excerpt of Scorched Earth's first 24 chapters!

These first 24 chapters picked up right where Gilded Serpent left off, so they were full of action. One of my issues with the last book was that I didn't always feel excited about the action; I felt like I knew where scenes were going, so I wasn't that motivated to keep reading at breakneck speed. I found these chapters much more engaging, and I continually came back so that I could get to the next chapter.

It's been awhile since I read the previous books, so it did take me a couple chapters to get back into the swing of things, but I thought Jensen did a good job of adding little reminders here and there of who characters were and what was going on.

Overall, I really enjoyed these chapters, and I'll definitely pick this up again when it's published.

This is my favorite book series, and one of the most anticipated books for me! I absolutely loved those first 24 chapters, they left me wanting more. The journey of Lydia, Killian, Teriana, and Marcus is everything. I love how the story is unfolding, and the way the characters are developing feels so real and powerful. I can’t wait to see what happens next!

This was the perfect finale to a series that’s had me completely hooked from the beginning. The stakes in Scorched Earth are higher than ever, and Danielle L. Jensen delivers an intense, emotional, and action-packed ending that left me breathless.

Every character arc felt earned and powerful. Lydia’s inner conflict, Killian’s impossible mission, Teriana’s fierce loyalty, and Marcus’s desperate fight for redemptioneach storyline had weight and depth. The writing is sharp and immersive, and I could feel the urgency and danger on every page.

The emotional payoff hit hard. There were heartbreaking moments, unexpected reveals, and scenes that had me holding my breath. I loved how the book balanced massive battle scenes with personal struggles and quiet, intimate moments.

This is a finale that does not hold back. It’s dark, bold, and completely unforgettable. If you’ve been following the Dark Shores series, this book will give you everything you hoped for and more. I didn’t want it to end, but it ended perfectly

Danielle's writing is unmatched. I am a lover of fantasy and young adult fantasy series. Danielle's Dark Shores is the perfect blend of YA and Fantasy. Her vivid descriptions and dialogues make her writing easy to read and imagine. Her characters are multi-layered and relatable, even though they are in a fantasy world.

Scorched Earth picks up right where we left off in Gilded Serpent. Right off the bat your attention is grabbed and never let loose throughout this entire excerpt. With multiple problems to solve, Danielle gives us multiple POVs in various locations as each character is working to solve their individual problems.

DLJ does no wrong.
The series is far paced with fun characters. And great romantic subplots.

This series is one of my absolute favorites, and Danielle L. Jensen does a fantastic job in the first 12 chapters of pulling us back into the richly imagined world she’s created, along with all the high-stakes tension her characters face. The banter and dialogue are sharp, engaging, and perfectly on point. I’m incredibly excited to read the whole book once it’s released!

I received a twenty-four chapter excerpt of "Scorched Earth" from the NetGalley team at Tor/Forge. These are my honest thoughts.

"Scorched Earth" concludes the Dark Shores series. I previewed the August release.

The book moves quickly and delivers strong emotional impacts. I worry about the fates of Teriana, Marcus, Killian, Lydia, and especially Agrippa. Nic needs protection!

Teriana struck a dangerous bargain with Cassius. She must deliver xenthier paths to the empire within six months or her people die. Marcus has withdrawn from her, but she pursues him anyway.

Marcus returns to the 37th despite risking execution. He's consumed by guilt over Lydia and pushes Teriana away, fearing her reaction to the truth. The traitor's identity remains unknown - possibly Gibzen. I look forward to seeing Cassius and Hostus face consequences.

The eventual Teriana-Lydia reunion will be significant. Teriana thinks Lydia died by Marcus's hand. I also anticipate Marcus and Agrippa meeting again.

Killian has fulfilled his oath to Malahi, but corruption complicates his relationship with Lydia. She battles this corruption while dealing with her past decisions.

The Agrippa-Malahi scenes stand out. I disliked Malahi in "Dark Skies" but warmed to her in "Gilded Serpent."

Agrippa rescued Malahi and seeks redemption. Their developing relationship satisfies me - Agrippa deserves happiness after Silvara. He respects Malahi's strength after Rufina's torture. Both carry guilt and will contribute to defeating Rufina's forces.

This series delivers excellent fantasy with multiple viewpoints, romance, and adventure. I've pre-ordered the August release and plan to reread the earlier Dark Shores books beforehand.

I need the rest of this book like yesterday! I only got a small bit and already am dying to get my hands on this book.

Easily DLJ’s most underrated work and also my favorite, this series is an amalgamation of three distinct vibes effortlessly woven into one epic adventure.

Not to be dramatic but idk what I’m supposed to do for the next five and a half weeks after that too-short teaser? Just pretend everything is ✨fine✨?? 😩

Anyway, anyone at Tor wants to take pity on me and send me the rest of this book, I would be forever grateful!! If not, no worries - I will still sing DLJ’s praises on release day!
