LEAH VS. ART brings back the Team Awkward as introduced in Jojo Vs. Middle School, this time focusing on the super competitive and focused Leah. Leah’s parents want her to explore her creative side, so they sign her up for an art club. This is a problem for Leah since the sessions conflict with the Quiz Bowl team, which meets at the same time. Leah comes up with a plan to attend Quiz Bowl practices in secret and becomes more and more invested in the team. When her competitiveness goes a little too far, she finds she may have put her friendship with the Team Awkward gang at risk.
A book featuring a super focused student with very relaxed parents was a nice switch from the much more common portrayal of students bristling under the unrealistic high expectations of adults. The characters and themes in this book are easily relatable for middle grade readers and with under 200 pages, this will capture the attention of lots of readers.

Happy release day to Team Awkward: Leah vs. Art by @jmcwrites and @veedabybee !! Bug and I read this one together and we both thought it was cute with important messages for children ages 8-12. Leah is the Type A daughter of a Type B family. She keeps a routine schedule, is competitive, loves school, and strives to rack up accomplishments. When Leah’s family encourages her to embrace her creative side and relax a bit, Leah comes up with a plan of her own. Written with fun and relatable language, this chapter book will definitely appeal to early middle grade readers.

This was a strong sequel in the Team Awkward series, it had that element that I was looking for and enjoyed from the previous book. The overall storyline worked well and was glad I got to read this. It had that children's fiction novel that I was looking for and glad I got to read this. Joy McCullough and Veeda Bybeehas a strong writing style and was glad I read this. The characters were everything that I was hoping for and enjoyed about the first book and had that element that I was looking for.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This was a fun middle grade book that kids will love. This will be fun to share with kids.

A quick sweet read about a band of nerdy friends. It's a nice story about friendship, cultivating a group without having to fit in. I love this stories to put alongside all the princess stuff and family stories.
First in a series. A few illustrations, like at the beginning of the chapter - might have been nice given the short length and the writing style.
Thank you for the ARC.
