Thank you to NetGalley, Sharon Booth, and Boldwood Books.

I so wanted to love this one. I adored the world created, the village, the estate and the stones. The ghosts, so many great personalities, so many stories to tell. The supporting characters were wonderful. The main character though, it was impossible to even like her. She was so oblivious to everyone’s feelings, needing the others to reminder her that even her own daughter was important. I found her so frustrating. Then when it comes to romance, it felt like an afterthought, just thrown in at the end to satisfy the genre. I found this story disappointing when it has so much potential.

A cosy paranormal read with some fun spirits and heartwarming developments.

The idea of a little ghost filled village was brilliant, the only part that made no sense to me was the bargain mansion purchase.... If someone wants to sell me a mansion complete with funds to live off for the price of being able to see ghosts I'll take it but it strikes me as impossible!

I enjoyed the relationship progressions and (most of the) character arcs, this looks like the start of a possible series so I'd be interested to see where the author takes it next.

I’d like to start by thanking NetGalley and the publishers and Sharon Booth for allowing me to read an ARC of Kindred Spirits at Harling Hall!!

This was a really heartwarming story with a core value of learning to accept yourself as you are, perceived flaws and all.

This book had a huge focus on relationships and healing. And learning to love yourself. I loved the relationship between Callie and her daughter Immi. I loved how sometimes it took Callie viewing things from Immi’s perspective to allow herself to heal and love qualities about herself she previously disliked.

I thought the romance was sweet and believable. No insta love here. It was refreshing and I was here for it. The romance definitely took a backseat in the story, which I also liked. Callie and Brodie’s relationship developed very naturally and I loved the outcome. I enjoyed how he helped her insecurity and listened to her. I also loved his separate relationship with Immi and how she trusted him enough to confide in him.

This was a lovely story about a single mom took a leap of faith and was rewarded with so many good things in her life. Rich relationships, new friends, a stronger relationship with her daughter, and a greater purpose using a “gift” she previously resented.

I definitely recommend picking up this story. It will sweep you away and leave you with a smile on your face.

This book was just okay, I thought I would like it more since I love the Ghosts TV show but this didn't hit like the show did. However, the ghosts were the best part of this book. I didn't really love our main character Callie. Something about her just rubbed me the wrong way. The way she would talk to other characters and the outbursts she would have made me feel like she was teenager instead of a mom. The atmosphere and the setting were really well done and I would have loved to see the village.

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the eArc

Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very sweet story, that took me just a little while to get into. While on a school trip with her daughter to an historical village, Callie realizes she can see ghosts. The village is full of ghosts and that's the point. The owners of Harling Hall have always been able to see the ghosts and they are the ones charged with caring for the village and both its living and non-living residents. Callie, due to her gift, becomes the new owner of Harling Hall. Its a challenge for everyone involved.

It took me a bit to feel connected to Callie, but eventually I did. Her daughter seemed almost more mature than expected for someone that age (10 going on 11) but seemed to be in keeping with having a mom that has some trauma in her background. All in all, a good read.

What can I say about this book other than I loved it? I immediately gravitated towards the premise of this story. I mean, a single mom who goes to a living historical town as a chaperone on her daughter's field trip and winds up seeing the ghostly occupants? That alone hooked me! Then, upon learning that she has "the sight", she is offered the deal of a life time! A deal to buy the entire town of Rowan Vale & the great estate of Harling Hall for nothing more than a tenner. I, for one, would be jumping at the opportunity!

With a reluctancy, Callie agrees to this ridiculous, too good to be true, plan to buy the estate and take over as the caretaker of its residents (both lively and ghostly). Then again, she's also roped into it by her daughter, who can see the ghosts too. With one month to learn everything she has to learn about running this place from the Lawrie, the current owner and care taker and navigating her growing feelings for his grandson, Brodie, Callie sure has her hands full!

Throw in some wild child spirits, casual drama between the occupants of Harling Hall & trying to navigate this new normal made for one great story! The pacing was just right & the characters had great development throughout the story. While there was a romance sub-plot, it wasn't the main focus of the book. I particularly loved how all the ghosts had their own back stories. Everything was so carefully thought out that I couldn't pick up on any plot holes! While I wish there was some more description when it came to some of the living characters, I did enjoy making up what all of these individuals looked like in my own mind, so that wasn't much of a deal breaker for me.

Overall, a great read for someone who is looking for something fun & cozy to pick up! I guarantee you'll love Rowan Vale like I did!

2 stars This is the type of book I love but I feel very meh about this one. It's quite slow in the first half and I found myself questioning why I was persevering but I kept going and the 2nd half didn't make up for it. I also found Callie really mean and not likeable.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for a chance to read this early!

Lately I have really come to love more cozy types stories unfortunately this one just wasn’t a hit for me.

I only have 2 really major complaints about this book and the first is nothing remotely happens for the first 50% of this book. I know it’s a cozy story but I did expect something at least interesting to happen and it did not. I guess this is more slice of life type of story which might not be my thing. My second major complaint is Callie, our main character. I found her just kinda awful. There was just something about how she spoke to people that just really rubbed me the wrong way.

The part I did enjoy from this story was all the ghosts. I really would’ve liked to got to know them more in this book. I found their personalities so interesting.

Overall just wasn’t the book for me. I see why people have enjoyed it so far but I just wanted more

This was a fun read. The world building and side characters were great. I wasn’t a fan of the MFC, she didn’t seem to grow throughout the book which was a shame. I also found the chemistry off; it didn’t quite come across as realistic or genuine.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in return for an honest review.

first of all, thanks to netgalley for the ARC! all thoughts and opinions are my own opinion. so, for context, i requested this on netgalley mostly because of the cover. i mean, it’s stunning. i also liked the premise. a girl goes to a small town with her daughter and discovers a found family. it’s a trope i like and i never mind a story like that. unfortunately, i thought this book was just alright.

i loved the cozy vibes and the paranormal ghost aspect was well-done. i didn't take me long to read this, either. however, i felt apathetic the whole time i was reading. kind of like okay i’m reading this, but WHY am i reading this which wasn’t fun. also, i didn’t really connect with the writing. i didn’t like how the main character, callie, acted a lot younger than she really was. she would make just sort of silly decisions that i think a rational person her age wouldn’t make. i also didn’t like the romance, it felt kind of shoe-horned in near the end. i think i kind of just wanted more from this?

overall, this was right down the middle of the road for me. i don’t know if i would recommend this or not. i definitely think if anyone's interested in this, checking out the reviews would be worth it!

This was a perfect cozy paranormal book. I wasn’t anticipating starting to like all of the ghosts - but I did. It is a perfect book for those who want to escape from the reality of today and dive into a world that seems just a bit nicer.

This started off very cute and fun. I loved the characters and the children and it seemed to be a great read. Unfortunately halfway through I found it started to drag and get silly. Its a shame as I thought it would be a fun read but it wasn't. My thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.

*I received a copy of this book on NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this opportunity*

All single mom Callie wants is to spend more time with her growing daughter, Immi. And while a lot of things are spread thin at their home (time and money, for example), the last thing Callie wants is for Immi to grow up feeling anything but loved. So, when the opportunity arises for her to assist with a school trip to the village of Rowan Vale, Callie takes the chance without thinking twice. And, at first, everything seems better than perfect; the village practically oozes charm, the children are relatively well-behaved, and so what if there are misbehaving actors at the train station?

However, when its revealed the men Callie scolded for fighting weren't just actors dressed as WWII soldiers, but ghosts, and that the entire village is populated by, well, another sort of population; Callie and her daughter are given the opportunity of a lifetime.

This was a charming spooky season read for any time of the year! It was a bit slow to start, but by the end I was so glad to have stuck it out. Booth does a fantastic job of juggling such a large cast of characters, and I am so excited to be returning to Rowan Vale in the second book of this series to uncover more secrets!

Unfortunately, despite several attempts, I was unable to get into this book. There seemed to be pacing issues and a lack of fandom for the author's writing style. It all was just a bit hard to understand and follow along with from the get go.

DNF @ 27%.
Unfortunately, this one wasn’t for me. Almost 30% of the way through and I feel nothing for the characters (and there’s a decent number of them) and can’t see at all where the plot is going. I didn’t vibe with the writing either.

Thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for this ARC!

This was such an amazing read! I finished this all in one day. The background of the ghosts and their involvement in the storyline is incredible. The characters are so real and relatable, yet it remains whimsical. I thoroughly enjoyed this book, though it is not what I’ve been reading lately. I’m looking forward to the next books in this series!

This book was definitely unique. The beginning was very cute, had me wondering but it all came together. I loved the characters. They were very believable and lovable in their own way. I feel like the plot to this book went at a medium pace, I appreciate that it wasn't rushed! Loved the banter as well! My first book from this author and I was absolutely pleased! I would definitely read another one from her!
