I really enjoyed this book. The three teenaged leads were developed enough to really give three different perspectives. I went back and read authors previous book, This Book Kills, and did not enjoy it nearly as much as this one.

Wow, what a phenomenal murder mystery, thriller!
I was hooked from the beginning til end with this Knives Out-esque tale of friendship, coincidence, choices, & horrible people. This had twists on twists and twists and a satisfying ending after being on the edge of my seat the whole time!

This book was so good! I was not expecting the twists at all, and the second half was so fun to follow and amazing. The writing was wonderful!

Catch Your Death is a gripping, multilayered thriller that brilliantly blends multiple POVs with an epistolary style, making the storytelling feel fresh and immersive. The events unfold in such a calculated way that it creates an unsettling, creeping tension from start to finish. I loved how the author kept every single character suspicious—you truly can’t trust anyone, which kept me second-guessing my theories the entire time.

That was painful to get through and wayyy too long. I did not relate to the narrator and hated every moment of it

Nope I could not get into it. The narrator was too causal with narrating and it didn’t make sense to pair it with the concept. That was not for me

A quick read that still keeps you thinking and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I read this one in a single sitting and really enjoyed it, though I did figure out the perp pretty early on, it was fun to read it all unfold.
The Glass siblings (apart for Gertie) were truly infuriating. I know you’re not supposed to like them but this was next level. It reminded me a bit of the TV show ‘Succession’.
I will definitely read more from this author

Thanks to Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Fire for the pre-release copy of Catch Your Death by Ravena Guron. Below is my honest review.
I really enjoyed this one. It was tons of fun! It offered up a mystery told through flashbacks and interviews with the police, alongside some (reliable?) narration. The creepy house with secret passages set out in the countryside and cut off from power, phone service, or even the surrounding area due to snow was a great setting. The mystery was spooled out at just the right pace, and the twists, albeit slightly predictable if you're a huge mystery reader like myself, were spot on in both timing and thrill level. And the relationships of the characters were really well done.
Four stars, definitely recommend to mystery/YA fans. (Check out her novel "This Book Kills" too!)

I am a big YA thriller/mystery fan, but I did not enjoy this one. It's waaaay too long and drawn out. The characters are all kind of annoying. They were all very flat - each one had basically one single trait and it was just repeatedly brought up over and over. In general, it was pretty boring. Anything that could have been interesting was skimmed over. The 'twists' were over the top and just not very interesting. Majority of the book is monologues. The characters barely interact, and when they do, it's the same conversation over and over. Overall, this was a huge miss due to the drawn out length and underdeveloped characters.
Thank you to Sourcebooks Fire and NetGalley for the ARC.

Thank you, SOURCEBOOKS Fire for providing the copy of Catch Your Death by Ravena Guron. I loved the start of this book, but it slowly went downhill. The characters were flat and not easily differentiated, so I kept getting confused about whose POV I was reading. While I liked the locked room mystery and the creepy house, the exploration of it was far too long. I started to enjoy the story again at around 60% and liked the many reveals. Then, after the big reveal, the book goes on and on for (again) much too long. Readers who love lots of reveals would love this book, especially the last half. For me, the parts that were painfully long made me lose interest. 3 stars

This was fun! I don't think this mystery reinvents the wheel by any means, but it certainly is enjoyable. I love when mystery/thrillers have short, snappy chapters, and this certainly delivered on that! I loved the atmosphere of an old, massive mansion in the middle of a snowstorm. Reminded me of Clue. There were multiple perspectives in this book, which was a departure from the other book I have read from this author, This Book Kills. I did find myself getting a little confused on whose perspective we were following. They had distinct personalities but the voice was very similar between all three. I would recommend this if you would like a quick, wintry mystery.

This was a very twisty story that my students would love. It kept me on my toes and surprised me. I felt like the length lowered the tension.

I read up to the 60% and I just can't do it any more.
I'm not attached to any of the characters (ESPECIALLY not Devi, who I think was meant to come off as snarky and cool but just sounds like a bully). While I was interested in finding out who the killer was, the plot twist at around the 60% point surrounding Mrs. Vanaforte completely took me out of the story. I'm not sure if it was foreshadowed or anything but I didn't see it coming.

Apparently now I feel YA locked room thrillers are more enjoyable than ones written for adults. “Catch Your Death” was wonderfully written.
The multiple POVs made the story easy to follow and helped make it a quick read. The characters were well-developed and intriguing. I loved the amount of backstory provided, it was the perfect amount. While I did solve some of the twists, I didn’t guess the one that mattered, who the killer was. I’m still in quite a state over that revelation.
Overall, the amount of twists in the book made this a great read.

Thanks Sourcebooks Fire and Netgalley for this eARC, these opinions are my own. It’s a snowy evening and three teens are stuck at the Vanforte mansion. A wealthy family made up of the Vanforte matriarch, her husband, their daughter, her boyfriend, and their nephew. When the Vanforte matriarch dies there’s only three suspects. Devi, Lizzie, and Jayne, stuck in the house with a murderer, are determined to figure out whodunnit. Can they figure it out or are they just in danger themselves? I love a good mystery, add in creepy house and this one is a winner! Fun, gripping, fast paced, and plenty of twists and turns! Ravena Guron had me hooked from the first page and I couldn’t put it down!

This YA mystery dives headfirst into a tangled web of secrets, shifting POVs, and hidden passageways. Told through three rotating perspectives—part interview transcript, part first-person reflection, and eventually part present day experience—the narrative juggles a lot. While the author makes a clear effort to differentiate our three MCs by background and voice, their personalities often blur together, making it hard to remember whose perspective I’m in midway through a chapter. Combine that with the chaotic setting of a shared huge mansion (in which our MCs were often spread throughout) and it gets a bit messy to remember who is where.
There’s a touch of the fantastical here—secret doors and hidden spaces popping up just when needed—which feels more whimsical than believable. Definitely rooted in YA logic, the MCs lean heavily into mischief, and sometimes immaturity. Devi, in particular, comes off as startlingly insensitive in the aftermath of a murder, which made her harder to connect with emotionally.
That said, the twists—when they finally start—are nonstop and genuinely shocking.
~MILD SPOILER AHEAD~
The book thrives on the unreliable narrator trope, and it leans into it hard. If you love being thrown off balance and questioning everything, this will be your kind of read.
Overall, it’s a fast-paced, twisty tale with big ambitions, but the narrative structure and similarity between voices can make it a bit of a mental juggling act. Recommended for fans of chaotic mysteries, morally gray teens, and books that never let you get too comfortable.

I absolutely loved this book!! So many twists throughout the book. I loved the use of a mansion with secret passageways. A great murder mystery book. A definite must read!!

Really enjoyed this book, such a good mystery and the twists and turns really had me guessing. The backstories were just enough without distracting from the story as a whole. Can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Overall I enjoyed this read. Having a Agatha Christie type mystery combined with a Karen McManus feel really modernized this locked room mystery which also was reminiscent of “Clue” and it was something that I wanted to sink my teeth into.
The book is broken up in 5 parts plus two interludes that each have a few chapters. It is also multi POV’s as well as timelines which jump around depending on the POV. It also is full of interview transcripts with the police department. While that sounds like a lot, the chanters are clearly detailed so you know where you are within the story.
Author, Ravena Guron did a great job with the setting and being very detailed with her descriptions as well as with the characters. However, it was definitely overly long. It could have had a good 100 pages edited out without affecting the the plot. Because of that the middle suffers a bit but I urge you to keep with it so you can get to the last 1/3rd of the book and all the twists and turns that a good locked room thriller should have.
This book comes out Sept 2nd 2025 which is the perfect timing to add to your “spooky season” TBR.
I am thankful to have gotten a complimentary eARC from Sourcebooks Fire through NetGalley to read which gave me the opportunity to voluntarily leave a review.
