Liv Constantine delivers a compelling narrative in Don't Open Your Eyes, blending domestic suspense with elements of the supernatural. The story follows Annabelle Reynolds, a devoted wife and mother, whose idyllic life unravels as she begins experiencing vivid dreams that eerily predict future events. When these premonitions hint at imminent danger to her daughter Scarlett, Annabelle is thrust into a desperate quest to alter fate and protect her family.

The novel's strength lies in its exploration of maternal instincts and the lengths one will go to safeguard loved ones. The suspense is palpable, with multiple perspectives adding depth and complexity to the narrative. While some plot developments stretch plausibility, the emotional resonance and relentless pacing keep readers engaged.

Don't Open Your Eyes is a thought-provoking read that challenges perceptions of destiny and free will, making it a standout addition to the psychological thriller genre.

Thank you to NetGalley and @RandomHousePub for this ARC. Annabelle keeps having tragic dreams that actually come true and now she is trying to live her life and her family's lives around these dreams. How far will she go when she finds out her life and her daughter are in danger? Good read! The twist at the end makes the book! #DontOpenYourEyes #LivConstantine #RandomHouseBallatine #June2025

I wouldn't say I'm a seasoned Liv Constantine reader, but I have enjoyed her two most popular novels, The Last Mrs. Parish and The Next Mrs. Parish. Both captivated me for different reasons, so I approached Don’t Open Your Eyes with high expectations for its thrill and mystery. However, the premise of this latest book differs from the others and carries a somewhat supernatural vibe. I don’t mind supernatural elements in novels unless they feel forced, which was somewhat the case here.

Annabelle appears to have a perfect life; she has a doctor husband, a rewarding job, and two beautiful daughters she adores. Yet, beneath the surface lies a tension, as everyone, including Annabelle, is hiding secrets. Her daughter Scarlett is having a difficult year with friendships at school and may have gotten involved with the wrong crowd, all while sharing personal details online with a stranger. Annabelle's husband, James, seems like the ideal spouse, but there's a manipulative side to him, and Annabelle herself is experiencing strange dreams that feel more like waking nightmares. Alarmingly, these dreams start to come true.

The story's setup felt slow to me, and I found that the chapters titled "The Wife" and "Ben" were more distracting than helpful in leading up to the reveal. I struggled to follow these plot points, and the pacing became tedious. However, I must say that the story picked up significantly toward the end, which turned out to be the most enjoyable part of the entire novel.

I saw some of the plot twists coming, but not others.

The thing I appreciate about Liv Constantine books is there are often secret narrators that you never know how they connect, and how they connect often blow my mind.

Annabelle is living her life with her husband and two daughters when something weird starts happening: She'll dream about horrible things happening, and then they happen. When her dreams shift from vague things like plane crashes to specific things happening to her family, she starts freaking out. Her own husband writes her off as someone who needs therapy.

I definitely picked up on some people not being who they should be, but definitely didn't see other aspects of that ending coming!

Thanks, NetGalley!

Postcards from Planet Outlier........

Don't Open Your Eyes baked, sauteed, fried, and poached in sudsy soap opera vibes. Now don't get me wrong. I love the dynamic sister duo who call themselves Liv Constantine. The writing is as strong as ever here, but the storyline guarantees that every predictable pot lid will find the matching pot. Let's discuss.

Annabelle has been having some wonky, wonky dreams as of late. She's wife of James, a neurologist, and mother to teenage Scarlett and young Olivia. Annabelle is a successful social media professional. But all that slides to the wayside when she wakes up each morning.

Her dreams are about her husband, her daughters, and her job. That's normal you say. Sure, until the elements of these dreams come true the next day. Having feelings of the future visit us all in some way or another. But these slumbering happenings are invoking thoughts of real danger. (Liv Constantine has my attention. Moving onward.)

Annabelle discusses them with her husband. He thinks she's just overworked. He doesn't believe her. Then coincidences start to raise their ugly heads. We're good here. Really good.

Then Liv Constantine switches gears and we walk into daughter Scarlett's room. Scarlett is texting a young dude who sympathisizes with her about school life and her snooty friends. He's sixteen. Now he wants to meet up with Scarlett. Sound familiar? Teenage texting.....How will this go down?

But the kicker is Annabelle's past life. Only her husband James knows the brunt of it. And what a brunt it is. Again, soap opera city in the making. I was so locked in at the beginning of this book. But then it began to sink into sudsy water deeper and deeper. Yup, I enjoy a good popcorn thriller, but this one kinda left the stratosphere in believability. Nevertheless, it's still a good romp into compromising situations that take their toll later in life. We'll have to pay the Piper, now don't we?

I received a copy of this book through NetGalley for an honest review. My thanks to Random House and to Liv Constantine for the opportunity.

It should come as no surprise that this was another original, unputdownable thriller from Liv Constantine! I wasn’t sure where the story was going to take us and I loved every minute of it! Annabelle has everything. She is successful, has 2 daughters, is married to a doctor, and is witnessing her nightmares come to life. Could she be psychic? Is it woman’s intuition? Does she need a therapist? Be prepared to read this in a day as you won’t want to put it down! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!

Don't Open Your Eyes kept my attention and I enjoyed reading this one- a little implausible and frustrating as a reader but that is the experience a lot of times with suspense novels. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

I love this author, and was so excited to get access to this book through Netgalley! I went in blind, as I always do with my favorite authors, and was not disappointed. The story was fast paced and I flew through it. I will say that I really had to suspend disbelief with this story, because it storyline is very "out there", but that was okay for me. I thought this was a fun, wild ride.
The story is told from multiple POVs and timelines which helped to build tension and keep me hooked on the story. Some of the twists I guessed, but some really shocked me.
Overall, I think this is another hit for Liv Constantine!

Holy wow!

I think once I start to process this book more, I can definitely see it being a full five stars for me.

Dang, I don’t even know what to say. I SO thought I had a good grasp of what the twists were gonna be, but I was so, so wrong. This was SO twisted! It packed so many punches at the end, and I didn’t even know what to think.

Liv Constantine really never fails to disappoint.

Annabelle has a pretty great life. A doting husband, two great kids, and a job she actually enjoys. But things start to go array when Annabelle begins having horrible nightmares. It’s not the nightmares themselves though, it’s the fact that they start coming true. Every time Annabelle tries to convince herself that she is overreacting; something happens to confirm that her nightmares are premonitions. And her nightmares are telling her something horrible is going to happen to her daughter, Scarlett. Can Annabelle identify who is trying to hurt Scarlett in time to save her? Or is her fate sealed no matter what Annabelle does?

Liv Constantine keeps you on your toes in Don’t Open Your Eyes. I had trouble putting the book down because there were so many twists and turns after every page. I can usually identify the “bad guy” early on in the book but I wasn’t expecting the surprise at the end! I liked that this book took a different approach to the “talking/meeting strangers from online.” I thought that was very clever while still showing the danger of doing so. Liv Constantine does a great job of connecting all the pieces together and is the queen of twisted thrillers!

Title: Don’t Open Your Eyes
Author: Liv Constantine
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Social media marketing specialist Annabelle begins to have vivid dreams that predict future events that impact her family. Meanwhile, her doctor husband is a skeptic and her fifteen year old daughter is engaged in a secret online relationship with someone in Chicago. Then Annabelle lands a huge new account, and temptation to stray not only shows up in her dreams, but also her reality. When her daughter is severely injured, Annabelle has to figure out what is fact and what is a web of lies. When secrets start to unravel, who will be left standing at the end?

Positives: Yet another suspenseful plot from Constantine! This summer release will be a hit beach read. Not only that, but it will keep you warm in colder months curled next to a fire, bundled under a blanket with a steamy drink.

Struggles: At first, Scarlett’s chapters were more juvenile in their writing, but then I remembered she’s fifteen and her thought processes aren’t as complexed as an adult. I also felt the loose ends were too clean in being wrapped up.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing - Ballantine for the advanced copy. Opinions expressed are my own. This book will be published on June 16, 2025.

“Don’t Open Your Eyes” by Liv Constantine is a thriller that will have you questioning what’s real, what’s not, and who not to trust.
A woman who has it all, a loving husband, two beautiful daughters, and a successful career starts having deeply disturbing dreams. They aren’t just nightmares but foreboding insights into the future. The tension keeps building as the premonitions about her husband and the danger her children face become reality.
The book had me intrigued from the first to the last page, a quick and entertaining read.

This book started, and I thought, where is this going? Usually books about dreams and premonitions are not my thing, but I was glad I stuck with it, because the last quarter of the book was satisfying. Though I saw some of the twists that were coming, I enjoyed being surprised at the end. It was a fast-pace, easy read. I enjoyed it and would recommend it.

What a fun read this was! It kept me turning the pages and not wanting to put the book down. I love reading books from the point of view of many different characters. All is not what it seems with this book. When Annabelle begins to have terrifying dreams that seem to come true, I thought the book was going to go down a certain path. But believe me, you can not predict many of these twists and turns! I was not anticipating some of the plot twists and it kept me wanting to know more!

Wow really good. I honestly could not guess the ending. You had me really thrown! So good! Kept me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next.

Thank you, NetGalley, Random House Publishing Group and Liv Constantine for this ARC.

I saw it was 90 chapters and somewhat felt overwhelmed but the chapters are short. It took me awhile to get into this book. I couldn't figure out where this book was headed. It was an interesting once I got into it. Annabelle was a difficult character to like, in fact I think the only charcter that I liked was Olivia. The others all felt shady.

Honestly, I don't know what to think about this book. I figured some of it out early and I felt the ending was somewhat rushed. It felt like just when it was getting exciting. It ended. I just don't know.

This book was an absolute ride! From the very first page, Liv Constantine had me hooked with Annabelle’s unsettling dreams and the eerie way they start creeping into reality. The tension just keeps building, and every time I thought I had things figured out, another twist threw me off. The suspense was insane! There were moments where my heart was pounding because I needed to know what would happen next. Don’t Open Your Eyes is a must read! It’s creepy, twisty, and full of moments that will have you questioning everything. Definitely one of those books that sticks with you after you finish!

Such a fun and twisty page turner. The plot requires a complete suspension of all disbelief, and there was a supernatural element that I didn’t love, but there’s something to be said for a book that keeps you up until midnight on a Monday because you can’t go to sleep until you find out how it ends. Thank you Random House and NetGalley for the ARC.

This book pulled me in from the start and didn’t let go that I read it in one sitting. Annabelle’s dreams slowly turning into real-life dangers had me completely hooked. The mix of suspense, mystery, and emotional tension kept me flipping pages late into the night.

I loved the way the story made me question what was real and what was just a nightmare. Every chapter raised the stakes, especially when her daughter’s life was on the line. The pacing was perfect, and the twists were so well done, I didn’t see them coming.

If you like thrillers that keep you guessing and make you feel the pressure right along with the main character, you’ll love this one.
