*Don’t Open Your Eyes* by Liv Constantine is a slick, propulsive domestic thriller with a supernatural twist. Annabelle seems to have it all—career, loving husband, two daughters—until vivid, unsettling dreams start unfolding in real life. The shifting perspectives and timeline give the story a tense momentum, and while some plot points lean a bit soap-opera, the pacing keeps you hooked .

It’s a bingeable summer read: a page-turner fueled by psychic chills and layered family secrets. If you enjoy fast-paced psychological suspense with a hint of eerie premonition, this one will tick those boxes.

Liv Constantine is back with another twisty psychological thriller in Don’t Close Your Eyes. We are introduced to Annabelle, a woman who seems to have it all: a successful doctor husband and two wonderful daughters. But lately, she’s been experiencing vivid, realistic nightmares that start coming true.
In her dreams, her husband is controlling, abusive, and terrifying, completely unlike the man she knows in real life. She also dreams about her eldest daughter, Scarlett, and gets the unsettling feeling that something’s wrong. Meanwhile, Scarlett is keeping secrets of her own after discovering her parents have been hiding things from her. She becomes online friends with a boy named Ben from Chicago, telling him details about her family and where she lives. She plan on meeting this boy without her parents’ knowledge. Are Annabelle’s dreams warnings?

The nightmares begin to push Annabelle toward panic. In an effort to change what’s to come, she starts trying to alter reality, like delaying her family’s schedule after dreaming of a deadly car crash. The pace gradually picks up as Annabelle's anxiety intensifies, and you can feel the weight of her growing fear. The story does a great job of keeping the suspense alive with its slow burn atmosphere. By the end, everything falls into place in a way that feels satisfying.
I’d give this one 3.5 stars, rounded up to 4.

📖 Annabelle is happily married and has two perfect daughters, plus a successful career in social media marketing. She has everything she could want. But when she starts having disturbing dreams about her loved ones’ lives being in jeopardy, she doesn’t know what to think. At first she thinks it is just her imagination, but when an event from her dreams comes true including specific details that she couldn’t have predicted in advance, she is suddenly terrified about every single dream she has and what it might mean for the future. When she has a dream that her daughter Scarlett is in danger and someone wants her dead, Annabelle is forced to consider every move she makes and how it might affect her daughter’s safety… even though she has no idea whether she has any control at all over preventing these premonitions from becoming reality.

📝This book hooked me pretty immediately. I have read previous books by this author and enjoyed them, so I thought I knew what to expect with this one. But every time you think you have something figured out, soon you will be proven wrong. This book is more twisted than a regular domestic thriller, but not as twisted as your typical psychological thriller in my opinion. It kept you unsure who you could trust, and the short chapters had me flying through the books because I just kept telling myself only one more chapter. Another great work by Liv Constantine!

Thank you to Bantam and Netgalley for the opportunity to read this title in advance of its release!

In "Don't Open Your Eyes," Liv Constantine diverges from the thrilling pace of her earlier works, leaning more towards a domestic family drama than a psychological thriller. The story is told through the perspectives of three characters: Annabelle, Scarlett, and "the wife."

While Constantine excels in character development, this novel feels more drawn out, with a slower build-up that may leave readers anticipating a suspenseful twist that never fully materializes.

While I am a big fan of this author - I don't feel like this is her best work. This particular story felt a bit drawn out to me and by the time it got to the conclusion - i was a bit exhausted and ready to be finished.

⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5 stars
As someone who devours psychological thrillers like it’s my part-time job, Don’t Open Your Eyes by Liv Constantine had all the ingredients I should have loved—an unreliable narrator, a privileged setting, secrets, and a sense of creeping paranoia. But while the premise intrigued me, the execution didn’t quite land the way I’d hoped.

The pacing felt a little uneven—slow to start, then a rush of twists that didn’t always feel earned. Some moments had me hooked, but others left me rolling my eyes (like… really, that’s the big reveal?). I wanted to root for the protagonist, but she made choices that felt less like human flaw and more like plot convenience. Still, I appreciated the authors’ attempt to explore trauma and trust, even if it didn’t fully resonate with me emotionally. If you’re in the mood for something twisty and easy to fly through on a rainy Sunday with wine and a blanket, this fits the bill. Just don’t go in expecting Gone Girl-level depth.

Thank you to Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Great story and characters. I enjoyed the wife chapters trying to figure out who that could be and liked the ending.

Annabelle and James are married with 2 daughters. James is a Dr and Annabelle is a social media manager. Their lives appear to be perfect until Annabelle starts having dreams that are essentially premonitions.

As the story unfolds, Annabelle’s dreams make her start to question all aspects of her life, her husband, her own daughter’s safety, her relationship with her husband, etc.

I wouldn’t classify this as a psychological thriller, or even a thriller - it was more like a family drama - so that was disappointing as I was expecting something more along the lines of the “The Last/Next Mrs. Parrish” series.

Most of the book consisted of long drawn out conversations (that could have been shortened and even eliminated in some cases). Additionally, the vocabulary was disappointing, to a point where it was difficult to be fully immersed in the storyline. The dialogue felt artificial and forced, which frankly made it difficult to care.

The book was laborious at times and I hoped the ending would be worth it - but even that felt predictable. Part of the problem was that the book seemed to go on and on about Annabelle’s dreams and I just didn’t buy the premise that she was having so many premonitions, one after another (I could buy the odd one or two - this seemed to go overboard).

I struggled about giving this 3.5 vs 3 stars but toward the end I was so sick of her “premonitions” I had to settle on only 3.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to read this arc. I love multiple POV books and this didn’t disappoint! The twists are great!

The story begins as Annabelle counts her blessings. She has so much to be thankful for, you'd think you opened the wrong book. But her dreams have started to turn dark and bleed over into the daylight. Annabelle dismisses the coincidences until the consequences turn deadly and she finds a way to stop them.
Liv Constantine has crafted an everyday family, the characters are realistic and their daytime lives seem perfect. Then something happens, something from the past has come to haunt Annabelle's future. When the price becomes too much to pay, Annabelle must find a way to change the future without ruining her whole life.

ALL OF THE STARS!! I DEVOURED this book in about 36 hours (during the workweek!!). I could not put it down, a total page turner and such a wild story! Annabelle has a perfect life, until she starts having these wild dreams and then they start coming true!! She tries to make sure that her and her family avoid the things that she dreams about, and things juts spiral from there. SO GOOD!! DO NOT PASS THIS ONE UP!

Solid read. wasn't sure how it was all going to come together but it did for the most part. I wasn't blown away by the twists but they were good.

I really enjoyed this book. I had no idea how it was going to tie all of the stories together. It kept me guessing. I was shocked with the twist. I did think the stuff with the wife went a little off the rails but everything tied up nicely.

I like this author duo but this one felt a little silly. I read it in less than a day, so I was entertained but felt the dialogue was extremely clunky. This one was fine for a popcorn thriller but I don't think it'll hold up in the long run, and wasn't particularly memorable.

Don’t Close Your Eyes is a gripping, twist-filled thriller that keeps you guessing until the very end. Liv Constantine masterfully weaves a story of family secrets, betrayal, and psychological suspense. The dual timelines and layered characters make it impossible to put down. A must-read for fans of domestic thrillers

I loved the Mrs. Parrish books so I was SO excited to receive this advanced copy! Unfortunately, this book really did not work for me. The story was pretty boring for the most part and although the last 15% was packed with twists, it felt very anticlimactic for me. Maybe because I just didn’t care about any of the characters. The writing overall was giving bad soap opera, and I feel like the whole thing with the dreams didn’t ultimately matter that much?? This was not my fav.

If you love domestic suspense with gaslighting and twists, you should definitely consider Don't Open Your Eyes for a summer pick.

Annabelle is happily married, right? Those ominous dreams she is having don't mean anything, right?

One aspect of the book I particularly enjoyed was the inclusion of the POV of Annabelle's teen daughter Scarlett. Though this may be a controversial narrative choice, I thought it really upped the suspense as Scarlett was up to things that could lead her right into danger.

Liv Constantine books are always a highlight of my summer and I can't wait to see what she writes next.

Once again, Liv Constantine floored me with a story full of twists I never saw coming! This psychological thriller starts off with a slow burn, luring you into a seemingly perfect life before flipping everything upside down. By the final chapters, I was racing through the pages, jaw dropped, completely hooked by the tangled web of secrets and suspense.

Told through multiple perspectives, this story explores what happens when your dreams begin to mirror your worst nightmares. Are they warnings, intuition, or something more sinister? The plot masterfully examines the pressures of marriage, the complexities of motherhood, and the weight of societal expectations placed on women. It’s haunting and thought-provoking, with just the right dose of eerie.

A gripping look at the fine line between destiny and choice, this one kept me guessing the entire time. If you love psychological thrillers with hidden layers and emotional depth, Don’t Open Your Eyes needs to be on your list! 😱📚

Liv Constantine has become one of my favorite writers. Her books always captivate me and keep me guessing. Don't open your eyes was no exception. Annabelle was relatable and her daughters Scarlett and Olivia were also great. The way she alternated between present day and the past was effortless. Great book.

What if your perfect life came with an expiration date and your only warning was in your dreams?

Liv Constantine is back with Don’t Open Your Eyes, and let me tell you, I did not blink once while listening (but I did jump a time or two). This book grabs you by the throat from the start and doesn’t let go until the jaw-dropping final twist.

Annabelle Reynolds seems to have it all. A loving family, fulfilling career, and a peaceful life. But then the nightmares start and they are vivid, horrifying glimpses of a future where she’s at war with her own husband and her daughters are in danger. At first, she dismisses them. But when details from her dreams start happening in real life? That’s when the true terror sets in.

This isn’t just a thriller. It’s a mind-bending exploration of fate, maternal instinct, and the cost of trying to outrun destiny. As Annabelle spirals between the present and a future she desperately wants to avoid, every word ramps up the tension. And just when you think you know where it’s going? Think again.

The narrators did an amazing job of delivering the tension and the terror Annabelle was feeling. The vibes were creepy perfection.

If you love thrillers with unreliable realities, high stakes, and the kind of dread that gets under your skin, this one’s for you. Addictive, chilling, and full of twists that make you question everything.
