Annabelle Reynolds has a devoted physician husband, two lovely daughters, and a marketing career she loves – but she’s haunted by nightmares in which awful things happen in her future…and they start to come true. These terrible visions range from her being attacked by her husband who she now hates to a threat against her daughter’s life.

When details of these visions start to happen, Annabelle must wrestle with whether her life choices can forestall further premonitions from coming true. Annabelle faces a husband who seems to be keeping a huge secret, her daughter Scarlett who’s being potentially stalked on social media by someone who’s not the teen he presents as, and a huge loss from her past that seems connected to her future. Annabelle’s anxiety and truth-seeking make her first person narrative compelling. Interspersed along with her first person’s point of view is that of her daughter Scarlet and a mysterious woman telling a story as “the Wife.”

The sister duo who writes under the pen name Liv Constantine have created a popcorn psychological thriller that really ratches up the action and tension in the end.

I adored this book! It kept me interested the entire ride and I did not know where it was going. I liked the added aspect of the dreams.

The short chapters made the book easy to read. However, the first 3/4 of the book was really slow. But the last 25% really picked up and had me hooked!

Thank you to Ballantine and PRH Audio for the review copies of Don't Open Your Eyes. While I’m typically a fan of this writing duo and their signature twisty plots, this one didn’t quite land for me. I can usually suspend some disbelief for a juicy thriller, but this story stretched that a bit too far, and by the end, I found too much of it—and too many of the characters—hard to root for. The themes around parenting, adolescent well-being, and parental rights felt especially off, lacking the redemption or nuance I was hoping for. I know I’ll be in the minority on this, and that’s okay—readers who enjoy fast-paced thrillers with sharp edges (fans of Jeneva Rose come to mind) may find themselves happily pulled in.

What if you can’t decipher what is real and what is a dream? OR what your dreams become reality? For Annabelle that is exactly what starts happening. Her dreams are starting to become reality. Starting off small she tries to prevent the nightmares from coming true. But how far will she go ?

Don't Open Your Eyes is full of twists and turns.
It's told through multiple view points and timelines. Annabelle - the mom, Scarlett - the daughter, the wife (name not listed until later ;) ) , and "Before".

Annabelle starts having dreams that end up occurring in real life. She dreams Scarletts in danger. Her husband isn't very supportive of these dreams.

Short, easy to read, chapters.
Kept me hooked!!
I wasn't expecting the twists!

I was very excited to read this after I read the synopsis and liked the premise of the book.
It started out slow and I was trying to be patient as the plot was building but I was disappointed at the end. I’ve read other books by this author and this one was just not my favorite.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing House for the gifted ARC.

I've read a couple books from this author and loved them so I was excited when I was approved to read this book! This book did not disappoint! It is told in 3 points of view and a Before and Current timeline. I enjoyed seeing the story unfold through their eyes. It did start off a little slow but a little after halfway through it picked up. The first plot twist was crazy, but then there was a second plot twist at the end! I definitely recommend reading this book of you like a good twisty thriller.

📚: Don’t Open Your Eyes by Liv Constantine
⭐️: 4/5

What if you started to have terrifying dreams about your family? About your children? About those you love and trust? And then what if suddenly the day after you have the dream… they happen? This is what’s happening to Annabelle. And she’s left to wonder what are these dreams really trying to tell her?

A definite beach read of a thriller that was a page ripper. Incredibly fast paced that feels a bit all over the place, but comes together nicely at the end.

Thanks to Random House - Ballantine for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. Don’t Open Your Eyes is out tomorrow 6/17!

DON'T OPEN YOUR EYES
BY LIV COSTANTINE

This novel was so well written with several great cliff hangers and of course the requisite big twist which was a doozy in this case.

Constantine made me fall in love with the family and really care what happened to them. She made me carefully watch the perfect yet controlling husband as I tried to figure where the holes were in his facade. I also especially enjoyed the daughter Scarlett's outlier friend Avery.

However, she made me suspend belief throughout the whole book except at her fabulous ending. The huge double twist at the end I swallowed hook, line and sinker.

The fact that the protagonist had dreams that foretold the future just did not sit right with me. Even though I had to suspend belief throughout almost the entire book I still felt quite compelled to continue reading the novel. For that reason this book gets a 4 from me.

It sounds confusing I know but I still really enjoyed the novel. Perhaps you will be able to consume the entire book as the author intended dreams and all…then you will be reading a perfect thriller.

I would like to thank Liv Costantine, Bantam Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in advance of publication day which is June 17th.

Annabel has everything a wife and mother could ask, so why is she suddenly having terrifying nightmares? And why are they coming true in real time? Annabel’s deja vu begins to affect her mentally as it involves her family being in danger, and after revealing to her husband what’s happening to her, he calls it imaginary and pushes her to see a therapist.
At this point, while being a liked but didn’t love read, it had peaked my curiosity to find out more. And as it so happened the best part was towards the end.. in that last quarter of the book—phenomenal! And for that I rated up from 3.5 to a solid 4 stars. Pub. 6/17/25

Fast-paced, complex, and with quite the jaw-dropping conclusion, Don’t Open Your Eyes delivered a stunning mix of domestic and psychological thrills. This time around, though, there was the added benefit of a potential supernatural plot line that had me flying through the pages at speed. You see, with multiple compelling POVs, a gripping sense of foreboding, and an underlying anxiety that had me wanting to skim in order to find out all of the whos, whats, and whys, I just couldn’t put this book down—so much so, in fact, that I finished it in under twenty-four hours. I mean, with cliffhangers galore, you’ll relent to reading “just one more chapter” over and over as well.

As for the storyline, in classic Liv Constantine fashion, the plot was riddled with a multitude of delicious plot-shifting twists. While I guessed a few here and there, the bulk of them still delivered surprise after surprise, including one that came right at the end. Due to that and the brilliant precise plotting, I was immersed in this undeniable home run. You see, combining dual timelines with the multiple POVs, I was kept firmly in the dark for most of the novel. Just be prepared to have to suspend all disbelief. After all, the multiple plot lines came together almost too well by the end—although the action-packed last third was still complete and utter perfection.

All said and done, this intense, twisty novel was the definition of a popcorn thriller. But then, it was no real surprise that this writing duo delivered in spades yet again. From the complex family drama to the delightfully eerie feel, I knew it was only a matter of time until the other shoe was going to drop, and when it did—OH BOY! I mean, who doesn’t love a tale diving into haunting dreams that turn into an equally terrifying nightmare? Exploring motherhood, marriage, and the lasting effects of trauma with a deft touch, it emphasized the need to listen to one’s intuition as much as it delivered a fun, pulse-pounding read. Believe me, you need to get this one now! Rating of 4.5 stars.

Thank you to Liv Constantine, Random House—Bantam, and NetGalley for my complimentary digital and physical copies. All opinions are my own.

Annabelle Reynolds, happily married mom of two daughters, all of a sudden starts having disturbing nightmares .....nightmares that begin coming true. At first, she chalks it up to an overactive imagination. When she tries to intervene before the dreams can come true, her husband tells her she needs to talk to someone, get professional help. Then Annabelle has a dream that her daughter Scarlett is in immediate danger. Someone wants Scarlett dead, and Annabelle has no idea who or why. Suddenly, every choice she makes is fraught with peril, with no inkling of which move could bring this terrifying vision to life. Annabelle wrestles with how much control she really has over her destiny and whether she can change what is meant to be.

I am a huge fan of this author's books. I stayed on the edge of my seat for almost the entire book. It was told in the alternating viewpoints of Annabelle, before (which was Annabelle's past), Scarlett, and The Wife. You don''t find out until almost the end who "The Wife" is, just that she suspects her husband of something, and is trying to find evidence. Scarlett keeps texting or having online chats with someone that she met online & that she hopes to meet in person. Her best friend keeps begging her to at least face time with him because she is afraid her friend is being catfished. Annabelle's nightmares about Scarlett, Scarlett messaging and making plans to meet her new online friend, and tensions riding high in Annabelle & James's marriage because of her premonitions, culmminate in an explosive ending.

You can always count on Liv Constantine to deliver a twisty thriller, with surprises you would not see coming! Don't Open Your Eyes is no exception. This thriller took me on a ride, with an ending I did not expect. Yes, a lot of what goes on in the book can be easily predicted, however, the way it all ties together in the end was brilliant! The idea of Annabelle having dreams that foreshadowed the future seemed a bit odd to me at first, but as the book progressed, it grew on me. I found myself enjoying this unique concept and unable to put the book down. The only thing I didn't love was the dangers of social media theme. I feel like there are so many books based on that topic, and it felt a little basic. Everything other than that was great!
Thank you NetGalley, Ballantine, and Liv Constantine for this read!

Overall this plot has a great mysterious vibe with a few good twists. But it makes me sad to say this is not my favorite Liv Constantine and is about a 3.5 for me.

The dreams were a bit suffocating to read, and some of the twists were more predictable than shocking. The book is entertaining and by no means terrible, but it fell short from the thrilling plots I am used to from this writing duo. I know so many others will enjoy it much more than I did, perhaps it was just a disappointment to me since I tend to immediately love Liv books.

All in all, I do recommend this book!

This is a twisty psychological thriller told through multiple POVs and timelines, and while it didn’t totally blow me away, it still delivered a fast-paced, bingeable read.

The book thrives on its structure: the shifting perspectives, including one from a mysterious unknown figure, helped create tension and kept the pages turning. I also appreciated how the timeline jumps built suspense, slowly revealing layers of backstory while propelling the present-day narrative forward. It’s the kind of story you can fly through in a weekend without even realizing how much time has passed.

Where it faltered for me was in the execution of its twists. While plentiful, many of the reveals felt overly dramatic and more at home in a daytime soap than a grounded thriller. And unfortunately, most of the “shocks” were fairly easy to predict, so if you’re looking to be blindsided, this might not be it. That said, there’s still something undeniably fun about a thriller that leans into the melodrama.

You do need to suspend disbelief to fully enjoy it, but if you’re in the mood for a popcorn thriller this one fits the bill. Just don’t expect it to break any new ground.

Thank you @netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read this ARC.

I love this author so I was excited to get this book. The story started off slow but the ending it came together really quickly. I was going to go with ⭐️⭐️⭐️ but I really liked the ending so it bumped it up to ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
