Thank you NetGalley and Publisher for allowing me to read and review this book.
An enjoyable psychological thriller with good pacing.

A true page turner a book I could not put down. The author writes so well touching on so many heavy topics such as alcoholism, domestic violence abuse and other thought provoking topics not always found in thrillers.A totally absorbing read an author to follow.#netgalley #randomhouse

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC!
I read it in one sitting, I couldn't put it down! A gripping read.

Thanks NetGalley for this ARC! The Marriage Rule is a thriller following a couple, Elle and Dom and their toxic relationship. The story is told in a dual timeline and goes between present day and days prior in order to understand how the events unfolded. There were many moments during this book were my jaw actually hit the floor, the twists and turns were unbelievable. This was my first read by this author but certainly not my last! Highly recommend if you are looking for a fast paced twisty thriller!

Great book! Thank you for letting me read in advance. Couldn't put it down. I have to look up this author to see what else they have to offer now.

This book started off super strong with a murder. It then starts the story through Elle. Alcoholic who isn't the most reliable of narrators. It has twists that keep you guessing, however it sometimes felt a little muddled for me, and had me losing interest. The themes in the book did get pretty dark.

This book left me guessing up until the very end. Things are definitely not as they appear as you read through the days of Elle, taking the time to journal her thoughts as she is battling her addiction to alcohol. The book opens fast and furious: Elle wakes up, seemingly hungover from the night before, finding herself in over her head. The only person she can turn to is her husband - but as Elle begins to think over the days leading her here, we quickly realize things aren't as they seem.
This book was heavier than I expected, so keep in mind there's some darker themes within - adultery, murder. rape, assault, abuse are all present within the pages of The Marriage Rule. I also thought the flashback pieces painted Elle into an unflattering picture - one that is understandable in the long run, but almost made her unlikable to the reader. It's a fine line to walk, but as I carried through I completely understood the choices made by the author. Overall, an intense read that kept you guessing throughout.

This book is a must-read for those looking to understand the psychological and emotional toll of domestic abuse. While it is an emotionally heavy read, it is also one of empowerment and resilience, demonstrating the difficult choices survivors must make in order to break the cycle. What are you willing to do to protect your child? Who are you willing to sacrifice a relationship with? These are questions one might ask for self preservation.

An alcoholic mom, a rich husband who always helps take care of their daughter, an evil stepmother, a best friend, and a co-worker the wife has a crush on... What could go wrong? A murder. This book is full of twists and turns that leave you guessing until the book's last sentence. This book does have a lot of talk about rape so trigger warning on that. This book is well written. It goes back and forth between the present and the past. I highly recommend this book for people who love thrillers!
