I found this book to be fascinating on a variety of levels. It not only contained wonderful discussions on well known film noirs and other popular films but a lot of other overlooked films of quality as well. The author certainly did his research in explaining why he thought some of these films didn't do as well at the box office and with certain segments of society by giving background on not only what was going on at the time the films were released in sociological terms but also what the studios were dealing with at the time with censorship as well. I highly recommend this book to all film buffs and only wish it were longer. I intend to see quite a few of them again as well after reading this great collection.
