This book took a bit longer for me to get into. I think it's because I had forgotten a bit of the last book, so the worldbuilding and politics had overwhelmed me in the beginning. Because so many of Grant's books are interconnected, I feel like I need to read them all so I don't miss anything. While I always enjoy reading them, I feel like it's a bit of pressure sometimes and a lot to take in. Is it becoming too much?

I've always praised Grant and her ability to do this, but I think creating some separation between series and even books could be interesting. I say this because sometimes I do see similarities between books and series. For loyal fans like me who read every book and series in order, I would love for new concepts, characters and worlds that exist separately.

There is an exceptional amount of worldbuilding and characterization in this book. The Druid mythology continues to amaze me. I look forward to reading more from Donna Grant.

Good story. Song and Carlyle are on opposite sides but when brought together, things ignite between them. A good addition to the series with a fast pace to keep you locked into the story. If you haven't read the previous books, don't miss them.

Carlyle and Song’s story begins with a kidnapping, followed by a chase and ends in battle. There’s not much romance here—the focus is on uncovering secrets and fighting evil. Many revelations come to light that could help the druids in their fight.
I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for NetGalley.

And the mystery continues! After Still of the Night we were still confused about the whereabouts of Carlyle’s father and whether Mason was part of his disappearance.

In Blood Skye, Carlyle and Finn go to London to check it out. They didn’t expect Devon to show up. Song (aka Devon) doesn’t know why the London Druids turned against her. Especially since they still have her sister.

Thrown together with Carlyle, they uncover some of the lies that they believed were true. Who to trust? And how to get out of this mess? Donna takes you on yet another gripping tale of lies, deceit and loyalty. Wonderful yes full of suspense. Four out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.

The series continue to get more intense; the suspense and story line takes such unexpected twists and turns that it will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Carlyle's father who is a part of the London Druids has gone missing. Mason, another character previously sympathetic to the Skye Druids seems to have changed his allegiance.  Despite the entreaties of his friends that he might be walking into a trap, Carlyle is compelled to go to London to rescue his father.
There he runs into the Druid fixer, Song who finds herself on the run with Carlyle under attack by the London Druids.  Is this a clever scheme to make friends with Carlyle while setting him up for the ultimate betrayal.  Betrayal is inevitable but it comes from the most unexpected quarter.
As the two cleave together to stay one step ahead, the truths that unfold will blow you away.  I almost think this might be the best book in the series so far and I absolutely cannot wait to see where the story goes next.

Donna Grant is one of my favorite authors and I just can't get enough of her books. Blood Skye is the 6th installment of the Skye Druids series. We are launched into the mounting tensions between the London and Skye Druids. In this book we follow Carlyle and Song/Devon. The two have instant connection and chemistry, no matter how much they want to deny it. As both have had a health dose of betrayal, trust does not come easy, but what can you do when you are stranded with your enemy and the organization she works for is coming after you? The enemy of my enemy is my friend? Song/Devon has her eyes opened on true kindness even when you are a captive, as Carlyle surprises her with gentle hands and protection, as those she trusts come after her. There's intrigue, twists and turns, and of course action which propels you through the book. Loved watching Song and Carlyle's journey unfold on the pages, can't wait for the next in the series!

Book: Blood Skye

Book Length: 377 Pages

This is the 6th book in the bestselling Skye Druid series again Donna Grant writes another gripping fantasy I could not put down.

In this 6th installments of the Skye Druids the story continues as the war continues between the London and Skye Druids. In this tale it centers on Carlyle who is trying to rescue his captive father from the London Druids. He ends up meeting with Devon whose real name is Song who works with the London Druids therefore he certainly does not trust a woman who is his enemy who has been trained to lie, manipulate and deceive!

Now Song does not trust anyone. Except she is putting her entire mission in danger due to trusting and believing in Carlyle. Some call her a fixer or you can call her an assassin as she had been associated with the London Druids since she was a young child. Where she is ordered to kill Carlyle. In a world of magic and deception where danger goes together in a tandem connection like two peas in a pod.

From my earliest earliest recollection of my past. Magic made you very wealthy and if you have it, you have power control and dominance. I was shaped by some of the most influential Druids into a lethal weapon. However Song and Carlyle end up in a very dangerous situation together where she starts respect and yearn for him. So the hatred turns to love but will it be enough? Can they both be saved? Read and find out in another spectacular Donna Grant read.

This is the 6th book in the bestselling Skye Druid series again Donna Grant writes another gripping fantasy I could not put down. Any Scotland lover will find a special place in their heart to read this incredible book. Especially if you are like me and have been and traveled to the Isle of Skye in Scotland.

It is the most breathtaking and beautiful place I have ever visited. If you visited The Quiraing, Old Man of Storr, The Cuillin, Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls, Fairy Glen, Neist Point or castles like Eilean Donan or Dunvegan castle and the Fairy Flag you know exactly what I mean.

Furthermore with breathtaking scenery, magnificent world building and exhilarating story with a slow burning epic romance that readers will love! Read and discover their Carlyle and Song’s fate!

I enjoyed this book! I did not read the others in the series, so the book was hard to get into and understand at first.

Overall, I enjoyed Blood Skye. Despite my initial confusion due to not being familiar with the previous books, I quickly became invested in the story. The strong themes of friendship, betrayal, and love, combined with the thrilling action, make this an enjoyable read. My only complaint is the occasional confusion surrounding the other characters, which may have been better explained for new readers like myself. That said, this is a book I’d recommend for fans of magic, action, and complex relationships.

This was my first book by Donna Grant. It is the 6 to the series, but I was able to understand the back story without having reading the other 5 books. If you are interested in reading a book series with a great storyline, unique character development, plot twists, and a world build that is well developed. This is the series for you!!

BLOOD SKYE is the sixth instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult SKYE DRUIDS paranormal, romance series, a spin off, set in the author’s numerous interconnected series. This is Druids Carlyle and Devon aka Song’s storyline. BLOOD SKYE should not be read as a stand alone as each successive instalment builds upon the previous stories. I recommend reading DARK ALPHA’S COMMAND (Reaper 15) for back story and cohesion. Several characters from the other series including Reaper Balladyn and Druid Rhona (Dark Alpha’s Command) appear as secondary characters.

SOME BACKGROUND: Months earlier, betrayal and vengeance forced a take-over of power on the Isle of Skye but someone or something is killing the Druids, not only on the Isle of Skye, but around the world including Edinburgh Scotland. With the focus on the death of the Druids on the Isle of Skye, Balladyn and Rhona (Dark Alpha’s Command/Reaper 15) begin an investigation that reveals a danger targeting the Druids on the Isle of Skye.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Carlyle and Song, BLOOD SKYE focuses on the search for Carlyle’s father, and Song’s sister. As a member of the Skye Druids, Carlyle and the others have been targeted by the London Druids, a group desperate to take control back on the Isle of Skye but hoping to gather information, Carlyle and his best friend Finn find themselves confronted by a woman named Devon, who has led the London Druids to Carlyle’s front door. On the run together, Carlyle and Devon find themselves struggling to comprehend the world in which they live, a world that is beginning to crumble as someone else is determined to take control but all is not as it appears to be when Carlyle and Devon aka Song, must come to terms with the reality of what and whom they discover, a reality that reinforces the betrayal and vengeance by the people they once loved.

The world building is , once again complex, and follows several pathways including the building but tempestuous relationship between our story line couple. Devon struggles to trust the man with whom she is falling in love, and Carlyle finds himself at a disadvantage when Devon begins her final journey alone. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of familiar, magical and powerful secondary and supporting characters from several of the interconnected series: Druids, Reapers, Esther The TruthSeeker and Henry the JusticeBringer, Elodie and Scott, Edie Rhona and Balladyn; Krisi, Callum, and Finn. The requisite evil has many faces.

BLOOD SKYE is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, secrets and lies, family, friendships and relationships, acceptance and love. The slow building premise is detailed, intricate and dramatic; the characters are desperate and determined; the romance is limited and subtle. BLOOD SKYE ends on a multi-layered cliff hanger-you have been warned.

This was a great continuation of this series! I was hooked and determined to see what would happen for Carlyle and Song. They have a great story and such heartbreak as well. You could read this as a stand alone but it would be confusing in some areas without having read the previous books in the series. I was given a copy through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

These books are definitely building toward the big showdown, but this book in particular felt a bit more like a small piece of the puzzle to that end.

Carlyle is the Knight who has gone off to try to rescue his father from the evil London group. He has done is best to not risk anyone else on his mission, but ends up with the most unlikely of allies in his fight. Devon (aka “Song”), the woman who delivered the news about his father, ends up under attack when Carlyle approaches her, and they end up on the run together. Reluctant allies, as usual, end up more than friends, but it is a very very slow burn there. They build more trust and friendship along their journey, finding out they share similarities in their situations.

As I mentioned at the start, I feel like we don’t really get true resolution in this one. For a relationship, sure, but anything else? Nope. Song may end up being a powerful ally in their bigger fight, but all the chess pieces are still in play and nobody has been eliminated in this particular installment. If anything, they have introduced more characters that may or may not be new enemies in this fight.

Wow. And I mean WOW. Just when I thought I had a handle on the labyrinthine twists of Donna Grant’s Dark World, Blood Skye waltzes in, flips the table, and leaves me gasping. This sixth installment of the Skye Druids series—and, at this point, probably my eightieth foray into Grant’s universe—proves that no matter how many books you devour, she still has the power to leave you slack-jawed and craving more.

This book is a whirlwind—no, a full-blown tempest—of betrayals, hidden agendas, and secrets so deep they could shatter entire lives. And oh, does Grant deliver on the drama. The stakes are sky-high, the revelations gut-punching, and just when you think you’ve grasped the full picture, she snatches it away with another jaw-dropping twist.

Let’s talk about Carlyle. Noble, intense, unwavering in his loyalty to his chosen family—if you’re looking for a textbook good character, he is it. And then there’s Song, the haunting result of what malevolence can mold a person into. Two sides of a coin, both shaped by forces beyond their control, both unforgettable in their own right.

Grant’s world-building remains as intricate and immersive as ever, layering magic, conflict, and simmering tension into a breathtaking tapestry. The relationship between Song and Carlyle? Deliciously complicated. Song struggles with trust, Carlyle fights to stay by her side, and the push-pull dynamic keeps you glued to the pages. Their romance is a slow burn, subtle yet potent, with passion that doesn’t need gratuitous prose to make an impact.

And then, the ensemble cast—because what’s a Dark World book without a kaleidoscope of magical, powerful, and often morally ambiguous characters? The requisite evil? Oh, it has many faces, and none of them are here to play nice.

But here’s the kicker: Blood Skye does not tie things up with a neat little bow. No, it ends on a multi-layered, gut-wrenching cliffhanger that will have you screaming at the ceiling. Consider yourself warned.

In short? Blood Skye is a masterclass in tension, a symphony of betrayals, and an unrelenting force that demands to be devoured. If you’re already deep into Grant’s Dark World, buckle up. If you’re new? Well, good luck—because once you enter, there’s no going back.

Good stuff! So yeah, I always love this author’s books! Love the danger and action, and the romances are always top notch! Cool world building throughout the author’s multiple series; love the magical ideas and adventures! This one has a bit of enemies to more going on, which is fun stuff. Carlyle and Song need to team up when things in both of their lives start going wonky. It’s interesting to get more involved in the druid world since they have often been in a negative light. Looking forward to more!

The ongoing battle to save the Skye Druids gains vital new information in this exciting tale of magic and betrayal.

Carlysle was a big soft marshmallow. As soon as he heard Song's story, he folded like a cheap suit and gave up his enmity towards her. Song was understandably wary of Carlysle, but he wore her down with the gentle way he took care of her and worked with her. I enjoyed this enemies-to-lovers progression.

The action and betrayals came fast and furious, leaving the Skye Druids with a marked lack of breathing room. Carlysle and Song's journey to the truth was thrilling and I can't wait to find out what will happen next.

I feel like I can sum up this series as each book brings a new couple together, and it is fun and interesting to see these characters develop and grow. But the overarching storyline develops very slowly and new twists are introduced around every corner. Our lineup of heroes keeps growing, and they have enemies from multiple sides, all seemingly unrelated to each other.

This quote from the book encapsulates my feelings on this series perfectly: "There are no answers," he replied and focused his gaze across the landscape. "Just more questions. A never-ending sea of them. Each one more tormenting than the last." Amen, brother.

All of this is meant to say that Blood Skye is book 6 in the Skye Druids series and I definitely recommend that you read the series in order, otherwise you will miss too much world building. If you can, read some of the other books that all form part of this interconnected Dark World.

Thank you to the author and Netgalley for providing me with a copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Donna Grant delivers another gripping installment in the Skye Druids series. Carlyle is on a mission to find his father, while Song (Devon), a trained assassin, is betrayed by those she once served. Forced to work together, their slow-burn romance unfolds amidst danger, magic, and shifting alliances. Grant’s world-building is immersive, seamlessly blending action, suspense, and deep emotional connections. The beautifully executed enemies-to-lovers dynamic makes Carlyle and Song’s journey both intense and rewarding. The high-stakes battles and unexpected twists kept me hooked, and the story sets the stage for even more revelations. This is for fans of paranormal romance and expertly crafted suspense.

This was a well-written, entertaining book. It was action-packed, steamy and I didn't want to put it down. I enjoyed this book and will continue to look for more books by this author.

A finely woven plot…
Another well written book from Donna Grant. She has taken us back to Skye, where an evil is still creating problems for the Druids on Skye. Our two main characters, Carlyle who was part of the London Druids, and Devon, whose real name is Song has been associated with the London Druids since she was very young. These two find themselves on the island of Skye where Carlyle has become a supported or the Knights who are fighting against the evil, and Devon has been sent to Skye to assassinate a Druid. From this Donna has woven another intricate story that continues from the previous Skye Druids books while also introduces some favorite characters from her Dark Universe books featuring the Dragon Kings. This is truly an outstanding book, and I cannot wait for the next in her Dark Universe series.
I was given and ARC from the author thru NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.

This series is so good. Grant is great at building a magical world full of interesting characters, intense plots and tons of suspense. I have enjoyed every book in the Skye Druids series inducing Blood Skye.

The war between the London and Skye druids continues and the stakes can't be any higher. Carlyle's dad is captive of the London clan. His friend Mason is acting very oddly. Devon is back and cannot be trusted. What is she up to? She seems to be helping when she's an arch enemy. Carlyle needs to find his father before the worst can befall him. Carlyle and Finn end up separated and Carlyle is on the run with Devon of all people. As the two try to solve the mystery of the attack they just escaped, Carlyle begins to doubt his conviction that Devon is a ruthless agent of the London druids. What is her real motivation? Can it really be that she's being forced to do unspeakable acts. Using her long boat to travel to London there is a lot of time to develop a deep attraction.

Arrival in London brings a deadly face-off in which shocking secrets are revealed. The world as both knew it is turned upside down. With a lot of new truths to deal with the two head to Skye to work with the druids there, Carlyle's friends. The story with Kirsi and Callum continues, their contribution to the war and their deep, but denied, affection. Many skirmishes are fought, some won, some still to be faced. There's plenty still to be answered in the next book...or books?

If you love paranormal romances with plenty of suspense and great world building, Blood Skye will be a great read. Even if this isn't your preference, Grant writes well enough to make this a enjoyable still.

Thanks to the author and NetGalley for the ARC.
