One Dark Kiss puts a very naughty remix on the familiar story of Snow White. Our heroine Rosalie does indeed live with seven men, but they are referenced as her boarders in a Victorian home she inherited. She may contribute to their overall care and wellbeing, but she is not sweeping under their beds and whistling while she works.
This is the second book in a series by Rebecca Zanetti that is retelling classic love stories.
Each book revolves around a social media company that is operated through generations of families that still hold affinities to gemstones. Each media company specializes with a different stone, and provides a different style of consumer interaction. The general public doesn’t know about the connection of the family bloodlines to the jewels, and they definitely don’t know the secret wars internally amongst them to remain in power.
What can you expect from One Dark Kiss?
Forced Proximity
Implied Consent
Stalker behavior
Explicit romance
This was a quick and enjoyable read for me. I found it to be more to my liking than One Cursed Rose, which is kind of surprising because Alexei is a bit of a stalker and quite demanding. It’s not one of my preferences, but it worked for One Dark Kiss. This is definitely for dark romance readers who enjoy a little whimsical references to their childhood classics.

First I’m glad that I received this ARC
I thoroughly enjoyed this dark romance with a unique Snow White twist. It’s a gripping tale filled with intricate plotting, murder, power struggles, and steamy romance. The fast-paced narrative kept me on the edge of my seat, unable to put it down.
The male character, Alexei, has spent seven years in a maximum prison. He’s possessive, demanding, and controlling. On the other hand, the female character, Rosalie, is his attorney, and I was immediately drawn to her. Her character is well-developed and captivating.
I’m eager to read the first book because I can’t help but wonder if I missed anything significant from the previous installment. The book has left me thoroughly intrigued and impressed with its character development and compelling story.
I also loved the J.T. Geissinger reference—she’s my favorite author!

Rebecca Zanetti delivers another gripping paranormal romance that blends danger, desire, and suspense in a way that kept me hooked from start to finish.
The setup is intense and immediately draws you in—dark forces, high stakes, and a romance that feels both forbidden and inevitable. The characters are layered, and their chemistry absolutely leaps off the page. I especially loved how Zanetti balances the gritty, action-driven plot with softer emotional moments that make the relationship feel real and worth rooting for.
The pacing is tight, the worldbuilding is immersive without being overwhelming, and the twists kept me engaged all the way through. If you enjoy stories that are dark, seductive, and full of tension, this book will not disappoint.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I LOVE a fantasy retelling and this book does not disappoint! This is a retelling of Snow White and The Huntsman retelling and it was everything. The action scenes of the mob will get your heart racing and then the spicy scenes will keep it there.
I docked it down only because I don't really love insta lust/insta love and he was on her right from the start (no slow burn here ladies!) but that's totally a personal preference.
Certainly worth a read!

Not realizing this was book 2 in a series I did enjoy it. It did get confusing at times because I had no idea what the crystals had anything to do with the story, but it did make me want to go back and read the first book. The spice was spicy, and I enjoyed those parts the most. The story was kind of lacking, and I wish the Author would have expanded more on their relationship and not just the sex. Overall, I enjoyed this book and will reread it again.

One Dark Kiss is a wild, dark, and addictive read that blends mafia romance with a twisted fairytale vibe. Alexei is pure alpha, dangerous, ruthless, and impossible to resist, while Rosalie, his lawyer, is ambitious, determined, and unexpectedly pulled into his chaotic world. Their first encounter had instant chemistry, and from then on, the tension and heat never let up. I loved the contrast between Rosalie’s serious career goals and the quirky detail of her boarders at home, which added a fun touch to such a dark story.
The world itself is a little over the top at times, with elements like social media empires, mafias, gemstones, and AI all mixed in, but it kept the story fast paced and entertaining.
Some parts felt more like a romance written 8-10 years ago and I loved that because it felt like I’m going back in time when I was reading a lot of indie mafia romance stories. Overall it was a fun and interesting read.
Perfect for fans of dark romance who want something bold and dramatic.
Very grateful to the publisher for my copy through NetGalley and @hambright_pr , opinions are my own

I hadn’t realized that this was technically the second book in a series. Yes it can be read as a standalone. There were some aspects to the world building and secondary characters that I wished I knew more about. Which is entirely my fault for not paying attention when I requested the book.
This book is dark and when I say dark I mean DARK!!! Alexei has no morals and when he wants something or someone he gets it. Queue to Rosalie, his new attorney who’s been tasked with getting him out of jail for a crime he claims he didn’t commit. I loved their first encounter. The chemistry was instant and palpable. Alexei is all alpha.
Rosalie is determined to make partner at her firm. She’s also taken in boarders at her home to be able to afford her expensive Victorian home. I love that they are old men. It created such a fun aspect to this dark romance. Plus they are adorable!
All in all this book is a fun super spicy twist on Snow White! It’s a dark urban fantasy romance and was a quick easy read. I blew through it in one sitting. This was my first book by Rebecca but it won’t be my last!!

Thank you Kensington Publishing for the ebook to review!
Like the first book in the series, I was looking forward to reading this book due to its inspirations from Snow White. I think the first book took me a little off guard with the darker elements to it, but I was ready for them in book #2, which I think helped me to perceive the book in a more open way. If you are also interested in this series, please check trigger warnings.
While I received a digital copy of this book, a quick look online tells me that this book has a beautiful hardcover. I think this series as a whole will be really pretty to have on a bookshelf!
I still think that parts of this world are a bit confusing with gemstones, social media, mobs, mafias and artificial intelligence. I think the premise itself is intriguing but maybe not fleshed out enough to be cohesive.
One of my criticisms from the first book was that there was a lot of telling, and not a lot of showing. That problem remained in this book, which made parts of it the story feel clunky and a bit awkward. For example, we are told again and again how amazing Rosalie is as a lawyer, but we are never really shown it. We are told she loves her boarders, but there are few moments that help to establish this supposed connection.
I think I enjoyed this book while reading it; most of the characters were okay, although I wished they were more fleshed out. The plot was kind of all over the place, but I rolled with it. That being said, I'm not sure if this book is going to be one that I return to, nor will I remember much about it moving forward, but it was a good, quick read with some dark, spicy scenes.

Thank you for the ARC copy and sorry for the late review. This is a fun, dark twist on the classic Snow White story featuring mafia. It’s a quick easy read if you are in need of a palate cleanser between heavier fantasy romances. Book one of this series introduces the FMC but you can read it as a standalone without spoiling anything. Pick it up and fly through the enjoyment.

I almost want to say I love this one more than the first one but that's hard to say because they both are so good. One Dark Kiss is a dark and gritty retelling of Snow White. I absolutely love Rosalie's character. She is smart, funny and a little naughty. Her realtionship with Alexi has it's tense moments and there is almost constant action. Which makes for an exciting read. The boarders Rosalie takes in adds some humor to the story. I was so into the story, that I read it in one day. I do wish there had been more to the magic and crystal elements. If you are a fan of morally gray heroes, dark romance, gritty fairy tale retellings, then you will love this book. Thank you to Kensington Publishing and Rebecca Zanetti for allowing me to ARC read fun and excting story. I can't wait for the next Grimm Bargains story.

This is a dark and steamy modern retelling so buckle up (and check those content warnings first before proceeding!) This book is fast paced and unhinged with twists and secrets and paranormal/mafia vibes.
Rosalie is an attorney who was assigned Alexei’s case and wow did they have intense chemistry from their very first meeting! There is no question that Alexei is dangerous and intense…and insists he is innocent.
They have to work together to prove his innocence and Alexei is used to being control…and is completely unhinged and obsessed with Rosalie. I would call him a morally dark gray MMC - not quit pitch black. He is on a dangerous path of revenge…and Rosie finds herself stuck in his orbit.
I LOVED the snow white references and how she has 7 elderly boarders who live with her - and I loved them so much. The paranormal/magic vibes definitely made this story unique and the gemstone/family arc was really interesting. I am definitely going back and reading book 1!

This was such a fun fantasy romance!! If you like good banter and tension you’ll love this. I found the world building to be well done and loved the writing. It was a little bit long but overall had fun and would read again from this author

I enjoyed reading about the dark and intense Alexei and about the ambitious and forceful Rosalie. His determination to get back everything he lost, and even more, caused his focus to be laser sharp. Her desire to be made partner only created a personality that made her stand out in the courtroom. While I have not read book 1, jumping into One Dark Kiss was an easy process. Right away I knew that the mystery and the suspense would draw my attention and keep it directed towards the exciting conclusion.

Rating: 4.5/5
Anytime I read romantasy or a dystopian romance, I preface that I don’t typically read many of them. What I mean is that I’m particular and tend to seek out themes that lean more on contemporary themes that I can resonate with and less on the fantastical side. One Dark Kiss does this with a Snow White retelling, too. Besides the spice, what captured my interest the most was that there was plenty of that, but the dark mafia vibes weaved in with magical elements and a mystery component. I liked how both characters offset each other. Rosalie is Alexei’s attorney, trying to prove his innocence. Their dialogue and heat between them worked well. I liked the action scenes—some are graphic in ways that describe bl00d. But I liked that.
One Dark Kiss was an enjoyable read.

definitely not my favorite book ever - i straight up do not understand the crystals and their powers and said wtf a lot. however, the dark romance spoke to my dark soul and the spice was popping so it was a solid read.

One Dark Kiss by Rebecca Zanetti absolutely consumed me. From page one, I was hooked on the razor-sharp banter and intense sexual tension between Rosalie and Alexei. This is your Touch Her and Die trope in all its delicious glory, with a dangerous, tortured hero who is impossible to resist and a heroine who knows exactly how to push his buttons.
And listen, do not be fooled by the cover. Yes, it’s sexy, but this book isn’t just about the steam (though trust me, the steam is chef’s kiss). The mix of mafia elements, suspense, and high-stakes family drama had me glued to the pages. Every twist pulled me deeper in, and the chemistry between these two? Off the charts. It’s one of those reads where you tell yourself “just one more chapter” and then realize it’s 2 AM.
While there are some repetitive phrases and a few inconsistencies, I still enjoyed the story overall. The pacing, tension, and mix of romance and suspense made this such an addictive read. It’s fast-paced and you’ll be entertained.

Okay this was a good one!! Thank you for the opportunity to read this early. Definitely high on my recommendation list

Interesting take on a Snow White retelling, however it was a bit too 🍇-y for me.
She says no and stop several times and each time he ignores her, which is literally the definition of assault and 🍇.
Overall, I do feel like it was better than book 1 which was MUCH worse, so hopefully Ella's book will be a bit less non-consensual.

This is book 2 in the Grimm Bargains Series. I loved book 1 but this one took the cake now. You have a lot of action, twists and turns and plots to take over power. The world building and the characters are wonderful and I was living in this book. This will have you guessing what’s coming next and it has such a great ending. You can read this after book 1 or you COULD read it as a standalone but I really recommend reading the first one :) just saying. I am ready for the next book to come out already. If you haven’t found Rebecca Zanetti’s books yet now is your time and you will forever be hooked.

I am such a fan of this romance series by Rebecca Zanetti! This is the second in the Grimm Bargains series and I devoured it.
The chemistry was off the charts from the very beginning and I couldn’t wait for the spice to hit. Besides the romance, the storyline was so good and it definitely kept me interested.
I can’t wait for another book in this series.
