4⭐️ thank you NetGalley for providing this arc!
I love a graphic novel adaptation, especially as a teacher, knowing that it makes any book more accessible to my students. I wish it was longer and that parts were more drawn out. It felt a little too quick without enough development on areas like her relationship building with the Tucks. Overall, this adaptation was well done and felt true to the style of the original book.

This is a great adaptation of Natalie Babbitt’s Tuck Everlasting. It followed the story perfectly leaving in all of the important details. I wonder if the text would be readable for those that use accessibility features like a screen reader. I liked how the end of the book had a question and answer section and mini lesson on how to create graphic novels. This is the perfect book for students that want to read the story but not the chapter book. I will be recommending this story to my middle school students that like fantasy or graphic novels.

I have not actually read the book, or I read it so long ago that I don't recall ever having read this. But I have seen the movie, as all Gilmor Girls of a certain age and generation have. So, I went into this graphic novel with enough back story to be dangerous - the movie is not like the book - but not enough to really have understood the book. This means that when I read this book, it was almost as a new reader being introduced to the Tuck story for the first time. And it has also been a long while since I saw the movie so that did not help other than to lead me astray in my thinking a few times.
Ok, enough back story .... All that was to say that I generally enjoyed this graphic novel. It was readable and did a pretty good job of conveying the story. It definitely jumped some key pieces in the sense of creating and strengthening the relationships between the characters as well as their thinking, but all in all, it did cover the main plot well enough that I wasn't lost and could piece together the other elements. The Tuck story is interesting, and their relationships with each other and the land are also intriguing.
The negative I had with this was that I truly wanted it to be longer, to fill in some of the the gaps and to give me the pieces of the book that just were not as robust in the graphic novel. And to flesh out the deeper emotions. The ending was a lot less impactful as a result of the missing bits.
Artwork was nice. Not generally my favourite style but still nicely done.
All in all, this does the book justice or the movie.

I love how well this graphic novel was able to convey the original story! It was so nostalgic going back and reliving this tale as it was a favorite of mine growing up! The artwork was beautiful and the whole thing felt so cozy! I would recommend!

It is difficult to create a graphic novel for a historically important novel. This one was done very well. K Woodman-Maynard uses water colors and simple drawings to tell a complex story of life and death. The characters feel authentic, the drawings are immersive, and the color palette fits the older vibes to this classic story. I loved this book so much I had to go and check out K Woodman-Maynard's edition of The Great Gatsby.
I'm thankful for Macmillan Children's Publishing Group and Netgalley for sharing this digital ARC with me. I loved it.

Thank you Netgalley, Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, and Natalie Babbitt for sending me this advanced review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a beautiful graphic novel rendition of the book. It has all the same depth, and emotion. It still hits hard, reading it again over 20 years later.
I adore the muted color palate, ant the illustrations are so beautiful. The writing was easy to understand, and I think it would be perfect for a middle school aged kids.

K. Woodman-Maynard adapts Natalie Babbitt's middle-grade classic Tuck Everlasting (celebrating its 50th anniversary this year) into a graphic novel with wonderful results. The adaptation is true to the story and the watercolor illustrations are well done, emotive and charming. I was so taken with it that I read it through in one sitting!
I am delighted that this classic will be discovered anew by a new group of readers thanks to this graphic version!
My sincere appreciation to the author/illustrator, and to MacMillan Children's Publishing Group for allowing me to access a DRC of the book via NetGalley. Publication will be 9/2/25. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own and are freely given.

This is a gorgeous companion to the original novel, with extremely minimal changes. The soft watercolor-y style and the repeated motifs works perfectly for this story. My only quibble is that Winnie appears slightly younger than I imagined her, but that's just me.

I haven’t read the source material in ages but reading the graphic novel brought me right back. It’s very faithful to the original which I like. I love that so many graphic novels of classics are being published because it makes these books accessible to so many more people. I’m glad the “intimacy” between Jesse and Winnie is cut out because truly after examining the book from an adults eyes, I’m so creeped out by the age difference. A 17 year old (with an extra 80 years of experience) should not be cuddling with a 10 year old and asking them to spend their lives together. That’s grooming my friends.

This was a good representation of the text and the art really conveyed the mood of the story. This was one of my favorite books as a kid and I enjoyed the reread.

Tuck Everlasting has been one of my favorite novels since childhood. I reread it somewhat regularly and was excited to see a graphic novel being released. Needless to say, I loved it! I loved the color pallette and the illustration style. The story stayed true to the original, and gave off those same strong first week of August vibes that I know and love from the novel. If you enjoyed the original, I'm sure you will enjoy the graphic novel as well. I'm glad this exists to make a beautiful classic story even more accessible to a wide audience of readers.

Thank you Net Galley for the chance to read this graphic novel. Tuck Everlasting is one of my favorite books and K Woodman-Maynard’s beautiful artwork brings the story to life. I especially enjoyed the way immortality is depicted as dangerous with the darker tones and even monster fingers. The whimsical animals depicted on the chapter title pages are so delightful. Definitely would recommend to anyone looking for a beautifully illustrated story about friendship and growing up.

A great graphic novel adaptation of a classic. I think this was a great adaptation of the original book. I think it kept very true to the original story while being strategically adapted for a new medium.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for giving me and e-arc me to read and give an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I received this DRC from NetGalley.
I enjoyed the watercolor artwork. It was nice to see some photos of the process of doing the art. As for the story, I thought it was just OK. I haven't read the actual book, but it just feels like in condensing it to a graphic novel, maybe some things were left out that would have made it flow better or make more sense. I was left with questions about the backstory and whether some things actually took place- like did the family actually leave an address or way to find them? Or did they just leave this girl to have to live her life knowing that she might have encountered issues and needed their help? I had other questions, but those would be more spoilery.

This was one of my favorite books growing up as a child, and the graphics make it all the more lovable and intriguing. This would be PERFECT for a middle school English class! I highly recommend this timelessly romantic story!

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
First off, I loved this book. The number one thing that makes that statement interesting, is that I don't normally like graphic novels. I'm never going to just sit down and pick up a graphic novel to read. The reason I requested this one, was because I absolutely love the original Tuck Everlasting. It's such a beautiful mesmerizing story and I knew that I needed to read the graphic novel adaptation.
It did not disappoint. It was incredible. The illustrations were beautiful and so colorful. I would 100 percent recommend.
It follows the adventures of the Tuck family and Winnie, a young girl they encountered. Their stories wove beautifully with each other.
Five stars.

First off: the story. Full disclosure, I did not read the classic, my knowledge was limited to Alexis Bledel and Jonathan Jackson. Even that movie was pretty far removed from my subconscious so I had a pretty clean slate going into this. The depiction of Winnie has a clear innocence with a wise quality that shows she’s a perceptive child. She shows her initiative and love in the way that only a child can fully pull off and manages to use her perceived naivety to help the Tucks out when trouble comes knocking. I personally love the ending, it speaks to my creative side, imaging all sorts of mischief managed.
Now the meat and potatoes: the art. Good gracious K. Woodman-Maynard was not a name I knew previously but that will definitely change going forward. I’ve already put Great Gatsby on hold at the library. Classics and watercolor graphic novels is a perfect love marriage and K. is unbelievably talented and well suited for this particular story. The color palette was perfect, the lettering subtle enough to not detract from the storytelling. The expressive characters flew off the page and were definitely responsible for the way I absolutely devoured this novel. Just perfect, absolutely cannot miss this one; young, old or in between it doesn’t matter there is something to gain.
Thank you Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

I feel really dumb, I read this on the computer first and for whatever reason the text in the speech bubbles never showed up. But instead of trying my phone I just continued and suffered. It works on my phone, so I have read this twice. Its so good. The artstyle is perfect for the characters and the feeling of the book. I still get super sad at the end, I wish it was one way but I'm glad the author did what she did.

Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, and Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR) for an eARC of this book!
I adored this adaptation. I read Tuck Everlasting in early junior high, and it long stood out as one of the best books I'd ever read in an English class. I adored the question it asked about living forever, and looking at the writing now, I see how simply beautiful it is. The watercolor illustrations were also gorgeous and put the wonderous atmosphere to the forefront. I love that this book is getting the treatment it deserves and is being held up similarly to a classic.
Side note, but looking back, I cannot believe I ever wanted Winnie to go with Jesse though. What do you mean a 104 year old man wanted to marry her? Maybe this is where BookTok got their start with distrubingly-old love interests.

I have never read the original novel of Tuck Everlasting, so I won't be comparing the graphic novel adaptation to the original novel...I am simply judging it as is!
The story of Tuck Everlasting is one that is surprisingly heavy, but also beautiful, for a middle grade book. It's a story about life and death, friendship and family, and doing what you feel is right. The characters were extremely well-developed, especially considering that this book is a graphic novel and isn't extremely text heavy. The illustrations are detailed and substantially add to the character development, plot, and mood of the story. I appreciate that this graphic novel tells a complete story and is written in a way that can inspire discussion amongst parents and children, teachers and students.
I'm a huge advocate for graphic novels and will always tell people that they are REAL books. I think that the Tuck Everlasting graphic novel is a perfect example to use when explaining the validity of graphic novels. This graphic novel will introduce a whole new generation of readers to Winnie and the Tucks.
Thank you to NetGalley and Farrar, Straus, and Giroux for the opportunity to review an eARC of this title.
