Winnie Foster had always lived a sheltered life, never having traveled outside of her own yard. After hearing mysterious music coming from the woods beside her home, she decides to run away to find out what is out there. In the woods, she meets the enchanting Tuck family. Winnie learns that they had been made immortal by drinking from the spring in the woods and the family take her in so that they can explain the importance of keeping the spring a secret. Unfortunately, the man in the yellow suit has different plans. He wants to understand the secrets of the spring himself and will go to any lengths to learn about it. Winnie must decide what she wants out of life and whether she will drink from the spring and join the Tuck family forever.

This was a really beautiful graphic novel adaptation of the novel by Natalie Babbitt. I feel that this was a faithful adaptation of the story and the interview with Lucy Babbitt, Natalie's daughter, at the end goes a bit more in depth about what changed in the adaptation and why. The story discussed the same themes of mortality and relationships that are talked about in the novel. The art is also absolutely beautiful and does a great job of capturing the setting and the moods of the story. There is also some information about how the characters were designed in the end for people who are interested in that aspect of writing graphic novels. This will be a great one for fans of the novel and it will definitely be of interest to readers who are unfamiliar with the story as well.

10-year-old-girl feedback:
- Very, very good.
- I really like the writing in the clouds and the hills, and the landscape
- I like when they silhouette people

34-year-old girl feedback:
I wasn't sure how I would feel about this old classic being reimagined as a graphic novel, but I was surprised at how well it worked! Beautiful illustrations and colors, felt like it was breathing new life into the original.

I love the story of Tuck Everlasting. I was underwhelmed with this graphic novel adaptation. On a lot of levels, I'm not sure how it would work if you didn't already know the story, which makes it challenging to review. I felt that it stayed true to the story itself, but seemed incredibly sparse. I did not get the relationship between Winnie and Tuck in the same way that I did with the original story. Additionally, the pages that tried to show more of Winnie's inner voice became overly artistic and took me out of the story. I would love to see what someone who didn't know the story already thought about this adaptation.

Though I've loved Babbitt's novel, Tuck Everlasting, since I first read it many years ago, I was excited to see it was being released as a graphic novel. I love this format for kids who haven't bought into reading for fun, have difficulty reading, or just like the picture format better. While pictures help tell the story, this book does it in a way that still allows for some imagination on the reader's part. As a teacher, this book makes my heart happy!
I appreciate NetGalley and the publisher for providing the ARC ebook that I read and reviewed. All opinions are my own.

This book is stunning.

I’m not sure if the illustrator’s goal was to reignite the magic of the original story or to create beautiful imagery that stirs some wild sense of nostalgia for the original story but… yes. She did it and she did it well. I was so excited to have the chance to read this ARC. I loved this book when I read it as a child and found myself wanting to go back and read the original again now that I’ve read this one. K. Woodman-Maynard used watercolor to illustrate the story, very closely to the original, using what felt like intentional color schemes for added impact.

If you’re looking for something lovely and nostalgic and also fun and heartwarming, this is it.

I was very much excited to read this graphic novel adaptation of the original novel. I grew up surrounded by friends who saw the movie when it first came out and absolutely loved it. In the back of my mind, I always knew I would one day visit the original story, but never did. Now, after finding out that the book has gotten a graphic novel adaptation, I just could not pass this up. And I have absolutely no regrets! The artwork added a layer of poignant, whimsy atmosphere that completely immerses you in the story. The writing itself is already very poetic and mystical, but the scenes between panels enhanced the reading experience. I felt more connected to the characters and could not put down the book once I started it. This is definitely a beautiful story that will stick with you for the longest time. I highly recommend this read for anyone ready to dive into a quick, cozy, and whimsical read!

Loved this graphic novel. This story is one of my childhood favorites (in fact every toad I see I call Tuck). Loved the pictures and the way they captured the storyline. Highly recommend this version!

Reading Tuck Everlasting is one of my most visceral reading memories. I still remember where I was in Sardine Canyon when I burst out crying and very much surprised my teenage brother who had just asked me an innocent question. I was so excited to see the graphic novel version, and it is GORGEOUS. While I feel like a little bit of the emotion is taken out in the new format, I think it's such a beautiful way to tell the story. I loved seeing an old favorite told in a totally new way.

I haven’t read the full novel of Tuck Everlasting yet, but after finishing the graphic novel, I definitely want to!
I really enjoyed this adaptation—the artwork was beautiful and captured the heart of the story so well. I loved how it showed the passage of time and chapter changes visually. I’d absolutely recommend this one, especially to anyone new to the story or looking for a fresh take on a classic!

I never read Tuck Everlasting growing up, and I never actually saw the movie so when I requested this book. Went in with a general knowledge of “this is a kids classic, something about death, I think it’s sad”. And that was it, that was what I went in with.”

Like so many classics for younger audiences, I’m kinda wowed as an adult going back and reading them and seeing the deeper themes at play. This was so well done as a graphic novel, although the art style was not my particular taste, I really think the adaptation worked and the heavy themes of life, death, and the circle there of was lovely. I’m really enjoying these adaptations of classics I missed out on growing up. I wish this was longer, but I would recommend overall.

Tuck Everlasting: the graphic novel? Count me in!
This graphic novel adaptation is a great way for students to access this children's classic tale of friendship and immortality. The illustrations are timeless and compliment the timeframe of this fifty year old novel. It was exciting to see the images on the page and reminisce about the first time I read about the Tuck family and Winnie Foster. This veteran media specialist and ELA teacher is excited to share this adaptation with her students.

If you've read the novel "Tuck Everlasting", you will enjoy the retelling of the story in this graphic novel. It's a shortened story told fast and furiously. Will students be drawn to this book? Not sure.

A beautifully written, thought provoking tale about the cost of living forever.
Tuck Everlasting explores big questions - life, death, and the meaning of time, through the eyes of a curious young girl and a family with a life-altering secret. It’s moving, poetic, and lingers in your mind long after the last page. A timeless classic for all ages.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group for providing me with an advanced reader’s copy of Tuck Everlasting: The Graphic Novel written by Natalie Babbit and adapted and illustrated by K. Woodman-Maynard for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

I was drawn to this title because I had just finished listening to the 50th anniversary edition of the audiobook of Tuck Everlasting, which was narrated by Alexis Bledel. As I read the graphic novel, I felt like I could hear Alexis’s voice narrating the story.

The chapter illustrations and watercolor work throughout were beautiful. Although the illustrative style isn’t what I’m normally drawn to, the story is wonderful in illustrative form and the illustrator did a terrific job of using important lines from the story and staying true to the original work by Natalie Babbit. This is truly a worth reading graphic novel adaptation!

At the end of the book there is a conversation between the creator of the graphic novel and Natalie Babbit’s daughter and their thoughtful questions and responses are very insightful into how they worked together to create a true to the original graphic adaptation of this classic tale on its 50th anniversary. The illustrator also walks readers through her process of how she created each illustration and page. I could see both of these resources being used by teachers, educators, and librarians in classes in collaboration with the original text.

A highly recommended read for all ages and for both those who have and have not (yet) read Natalie Babbit’s original work. Come for the classic and moving story and stay for the illustrations and clever adaptation! A recommended purchase for libraries that serve all ages.

I don't typically gravitate toward graphic novels, but I could not resist Tuck Everlasting: The Graphic Novel because the original story holds such a special place in my heart. It was one of the first stories I remember reading and truly loving when I was in school. (I'm talking anxiously waiting in line for 1 of the 3 computers in my fourth grade classroom to become available so I can take the AR test because I KNEW I was going to ace it LOL)

That being said, I really loved this adaptation as well! Naturally it isn't as detailed as the original work, but it isn't so condensed that you lose the overall charm (and heartbreak) of the story, and the artwork has such a classic feel that fits perfectly with such a timeless story. I would definitely recommend this graphic novel to anyone, regardless of whether they've read the original story or not.

Thank you so much Netgalley and Macmillan Children's Publishing Group for the eARC!!

Tuck Everlasting: The Graphic Novel is a fresh and beautiful take on a classic story. The artwork adds so much emotion and depth, bringing the characters and setting to life in a really engaging way. It’s a great way to experience Winnie’s story all over again—or for the first time. The adaptation stays true to the original while making it feel new and accessible, especially for younger readers. It’s heartfelt, thoughtful, and just as powerful as ever. Big thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced reader copy—I really enjoyed this lovely reimagining!
