I was doing SOOO good at not requesting too many ARCs and getting overwhelmed and reading them at the very last minute..and here we are. Here's Natalie Bobbitt's "Tuck Everlasting." This graphic novel version is illustrated by K Woodman-Maynard.

I didn't remember a lot of this book from when I read it a few years ago. This graphic novel was a beautiful refresher. Just like in Peter Pan, one of the messages in this novel is the life isn't worth living if there's not a possible end in sight. You can see everything, do everything, learn everything, meet everyone, but what's the point if there is not end? The circle of life needs to be completed or it's not a circle, and if it's not a circle/cycle, then it breaks apart and ruins so many other circles/cycles.
And, though I remember why Winnie made the choice she did, I'm a romantic at heart. I still almost wish she made a different choice.
This adaptation was beautiful! It was filled with glorious watercolors that truly captured the beauty of nature, which I do remember was oh so prevalent in the original novel.

All the nostalgia!! So fun to see this adapted to a graphic novel. Reminds me of childhood. Thanks for the ARC NetGalley!

I saw the movie first and then read the book as a school requirement. I absolutely loved both the book and the movie as a kid. Back then, I wanted Winnie to choose Jesse and drink the water. Now, reading with adult eyes, I see I was mistaken. I forgot how young Winnie was in the original novel, and I understand they aged her up in the movie, so my wish for her to go with Jesse makes more sense with the smaller age gap.
K. Woodman-Maynard brought this wonderful story to life with beautiful illustrations and a wonderful use of watercolor. I really enjoyed reading about KWM's process of adapting the novel into a graphic novel format at the end of the book. The graphic novel closely follows the original novel, and for that, I am glad. There is a shortening of things as needed, but it doesn't take away from the messaging of the story.
This is a wonderful adaptation, and I definitely recommend reading it. I found it beautiful.

I felt the same exact way reading the graphic novel, as I did when I first read Tuck Everlasting as a 13 year old girl. The artwork was amazing, the characters the watercolors. Reading it with adult eyes, I was opened up to more of the themes of life and death and they were artistically crafted throughout the novel. I would highly recommend this read!

I loved the original book as a younger reader, and this adaptation is a beautiful tribute! Both the original and this adaptation deal with the existential dread that accompanies fears of dying, and I look forward to this graphic novel allowing a whole new generation to discover this remarkable story. The art is lovely and really helps bring the characters and story to life. I especially enjoyed the pages detailing how all the different characters feel about immortality: Jesse treats it as fun, the man in the yellow suit views it as a priviledge worthy of the rich, and Tuck sees it as an interruption of the natural order.
On a teaching-related note, I could see this being a good text to use to introduce the ideas of motif or theme, with the repeated circles and references to cycles of life and time. The supplemental material in the back would also be good for discussing adaptations in general and giving students a model for creating their own graphic novels based on familiar texts.

I think every girl who reads "Tuck Everlasting" as a child is permanently impacted by this gorgeous story. When I saw they were taking the story and turning it into a graphic novel, I had to check it out. The story is as heartbreaking and yet happy as I remembered. But the art. The art is perfect. The watercolor paintings channel the original painting shown on the original cover of the book. Which was an excellent choice for the graphic novel. It also gives it a rather dreamy view of the story, which is again, perfect for the story. If you read the book when you were younger or not, this is a wonderful edition!

I still remember all the times I rented Tuck Everlasting from Blockbuster (those were the days) and was fascinated by Jessie Tuck and Winnie Foster. Of course, at the time I wanted them to end up together, but now that I have the opportunity to read this ARC of the graphic novel, I see that the book's message is actually quite profound, and I was quite impressed by how the artist conveyed the story.
Tuck Everlasting is a modern classic that is curiously celebrating its 50th anniversary, and I think it should be shared more with current generations, as the whole story is a great contemplation on life.
This story came about when the author's daughter, who was 4 years old at the time, was afraid of death, and Natalie thought that the best way to explain something so natural to her daughter was through a story, although she never thought her book would be so successful.

It has been a long time since I read this in school. But reading this graphic novel brought back all the feels and lessons from back then. The art is gorgeous and the story is a classic. Highly recommend!

Winnie is the rich girl, always stuck in her yard, never allowed to play. When she ventures into the woods she meets Jessie Tuck and is taken back to the Tuck home. There she discovers their secret and is given a choice. This is a timeless classic for a reason. The art style fit the book perfectly. This was a wonderful adaptation of the classic children’s novel. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have vivid memories of reading this book from 6th grade. As an adult looking at the graphic novel some of these images felt spot on for how I remembered the story. It was like someone pulled the images from my head! Very cool to read again and very much enjoyed.

Natalie Babbitt's modern classic "Tuck Everlasting" gets a beautiful illustrated treatment by K. Woodman-Maynard in this gorgeous graphic novelization.
The illustrations are colorful and lovely, telling the story in a varied collection of different sizes of frames and full-page images with a few really beautiful spreads as well. The text is easy to follow and thoughtfully selected so that there's not too much, and yet great care has been taken to preserve as much of the original dialogue and text as possible. The characterizations are also faithful to Babbitt's original text, most notably Mae Babbitt, who has been portrayed a bit differently in film and musical adaptations than her original description in Babbitt's book.
The last fifteen pages of the novelization are reserved for a Q&A with Babbitt's daughter and the illustrator who brought her mother's novel to life in these beautiful pages, as well as photos of the home that inspired the Tucks' cabin, and a thoughtful "making of" section that describes the process of translating a novel to illustrations. After reading this portion, I immediately went back through the book a second time to appreciate the attention-to-detail and thoughtful design in each frame. The care and detail that went into this book is evident, as Woodman-Maynard describes her inspiration and the subtle symbols she's woven into every page. It's fascinating to see that every frame has been hand-drawn and painted, truly a labor of love.
Fans of the original "Tuck Everlasting" novel and graphic novelizations of classic stories and young adult novels will love this adaptation.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced read.

Some stories remain timeless, and *Tuck Everlasting*, now reimagined as a graphic novel, proves just that. With beautifully illustrated panels, this adaptation breathes new life into Natalie Babbitt’s beloved tale, balancing whimsy, nostalgia, and the weight of its poignant themes.
From the moment Winnie Foster steps into the world of the immortal Tuck family, the charm and quiet romance of her journey intertwine seamlessly with the underlying tension of the story. What does it truly mean to live forever? The artwork captures the enchantment of childhood wonder, evoking memories of first discoveries and fleeting summers. Yet, the drama and suspense hold readers firmly in their grasp, making each turn of the page a reflection on choices, freedom, and the passage of time.
For those who grew up with the original novel, this adaptation serves as a heartfelt tribute, reigniting the emotions that made *Tuck Everlasting* so unforgettable. Whether you’re revisiting the tale or encountering it for the first time, its delicate storytelling and striking visuals ensure that its message about life’s beauty in its fleeting moments remains just as powerful.

I loved this version of Tuck Everlasting - I’ve always been hesitant with graphic novels but the colors and illustrations were great in this one! Definitely recommend to everyone who loves this story!

Tuck Everlasting: The Graphic Novel is a tender, faithful adaptation of Natalie Babbitt’s beloved novel, with the original text serving as the beating heart of the story. The beauty of this graphic novel is absolutely in Babbitt’s writing—which remains just as lovely, exciting, and insightful as ever.
What’s new here is the artwork by K. Woodman-Maynard. I love the drawing style—it captures emotion and movement really well, and the character expressions add layers of feeling that deepen the story. But I wasn’t totally sold on the watercolor palette. While it adds a dreamy, vintage quality, it also made the story feel a little too washed out for me, almost like the vibrancy of the world faded when I wanted it to come alive.
That said, I’d still absolutely recommend this book, especially to readers who favor graphic novels as a medium. The format makes the story more accessible to younger or more visual readers, and while the colors didn’t fully work for me, the art overall still adds a fresh perspective to a timeless classic.
This is a beautiful companion to the original book. Not a replacement, but a reimagining that honors the spirit of the story while offering something new. A perfect pick for readers who love quiet fantasy, philosophical questions, and stories that stay with you long after you close the book.
Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Children's Publishing Group | Farrar, Straus and Giroux (BYR) for this free, advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
Tuck Everlasting: The Graphic Novel will be published September 2, 2025.

This is fantastic! I was worried that the magic of Tuck Everlasting would be lost when it was released as a graphic novel but I was wrong. The story is still as moving as it was in full text form. What I loved most about this book is that as a teacher I have students who are not as able to read amazing stories because the amount of text gets in the way. This format makes the story much more accessible for students who struggle with the sheer quantity of text in a chapter book. I will be getting a reading group set of this version as soon as it publishes.

I love this novel and was so excited to see a graphic novel adaptation! The story was just as enchanting as the original, and the artwork was beautiful. Loved this! My middle school students love graphic novels and I am so excited to recommend this to them.

The way I SCREAMED when I got approved for this ARC! I absolutely adore this novel, and have always been a huge fan of the story of Tuck Everlasting. From binge reading it, to binge watching the movie this is one of the most nostalgic stories for me. This graphic novel is GORGEOUS and so beautifully illustrated. It added such great elements to the story and I honestly am so jealous that this is not the first time that I have picked the story up. I hope this release rejuvenates the knowledge of youth on this novel.

The illustrator did a fantastic job of capturing and bringing the characters to life. I love the choice of color palette. I wish this were around when I had to read it for school.

The illustrator did an amazing job brining one of my favorite stories of all time to a visual medium. The emotions of the characters really came through, and it was visually beautiful. I highly recommend this if you are a fan of the original novel or if you’ll be experiencing the story for the first time.

This was a wonderful graphic novel version of Tuck Everlasting. I thought the artist did a great job capturing the characters- it was wonderful to see a beloved story come to life. I think this would be my preferred version that hopefully I will read with my daughter when she is old enough.
