I really wanted to love this because I loved reading Tuck Everlasting when I was a young girl. So I was excited to see this as a graphic novel for younger kids for this newer generation to love, but the illustration style took me right out of the story. Maybe it’s because I went it with a romanticized version of the story, or at least having read it decades ago in elementary school and watched the original movie… And the artwork is good, but I don’t think the style fit the vibes of the story. It felt sort of dated in a comic style that resembles a bygone era, the color scheme or coloring was not what I was hoping for. I do like the artists sharing the details of the making of the graphic novel at the end… But I will sadly not be getting this for my classroom.

ARC Review:
The Graphic Novel adaptation of Tuck Everlasting follows the original story quite well. Growing up, I loved this story. Reading the graphic novel allowed me to refresh the story in my mind and reminded me about what it could be like to live forever. This story is perfect for anyone that loves reading about everlasting life and friendship!

If you loved Tuck Everlasting, this graphic novel adaptation does such a great job at bringing the story to life! I really loved seeing the characters and setting of Treegap drawn out just like I imagined when I first read the novel. I also loved the interview at the end with Babbitt’s daughter and the illustrator, K. Woodman-Maynard as they discussed how true to the novel Woodman-Maynard’s illustrations are. This is a great read and I will definitely be purchasing it for my classroom library when it comes out in September!

When I read the original book over 20 years ago, there was a magic and dreaminess to it that I just can't put in words, this graphic novel with its easy to read images and pages tried to bring back some of that sparkle.
I don't remember the original book exactly like this, but it makes me want to reread the original for reminiscent sake.
Generally, though, its about Winnie Foster, a young girl who meets the Tuck Family and their special curse/magic that was given to them by a spring. About life and death and is eternity worth it?
I feel this would be the perfect addition for those who loved the novel, along with the movie, it is very beautiful. And it's perfect for those who would prefer a graphic novel to a regular one.
Four stars because it makes me want to relive that first moment I read Tuck Everlasting, fell in love with Tuck Everlasting, saw the movie and dreamed of forever.
Thank you netgalley.com for the free ebook. This made my day.

What an absolute delight this was to read in graphic novel form! I loved it! 5 stars! ✨✨✨✨✨
Back when I was in elementary school, my teacher read Tuck Everlasting (the original chapter book) to us as a class. Not just me, but all of my classmates as well, were so captivated by the story that we begged our teacher to continue reading to us and opted to skip recess each day just to hear more of Tuck Everlasting!
When I saw a graphic novel version was coming out I was so excited to read it! The illustrations are so beautiful and the color palette is perfection! I love the way the writing is part of the landscapes on some pages too. It’s truly a beautifully illustrated book!
This story will always hold a special place in my heart and I am so happy I was able to read an early copy of this! It was so nostalgic to read this story again and I highly recommend everyone reads this story in their lifetime!
Thank you Net Galley and the publisher for the E-ARC of this wonderful book in exchange for my honest review. :)

This adaptation was done beautifully! I love that this will bring this wonderful story to young readers and that will get to experience the great message of Tuck Everlasting through these beautiful illustrations.

Just reading the first page I was swift to think "Hmmm, this reminds me of the Great Gatsby graphic adaptation." AND SURE ENOUGH ITS THE SAME COMIC ILLUSTRATOR. K Woodman Maynard has a way of infusing already dreamy text with flights of fancy, and reading this transported me back to what I felt the first time I read Tuck Everlasting in elementary school.

I read and loved the original Tuck Everlasting back in elementary school, so when I saw this graphic novel adaptation, I was beyond excited to revisit the story as an adult. 🌿✨ This adaptation completely delivered — the gorgeous watercolor illustrations, the emotional depth, and the faithful retelling of the original made it feel like reconnecting with an old friend in a whole new way.
It was such a nostalgic, heartwarming experience, and I’m thrilled this classic has been given new life in graphic form. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering the Tucks for the first time, this is a beautiful, magical addition to any shelf. Highly recommend! 💛

The first thing I want to say is that these illustrations are GORGEOUS. I've only read a few graphic novels in my life, but I'm sure this one is the prettiest. The watercolors are absolutely perfect and complement the story so well.
The whole thing seemed very well written, too. I will put in a slight caveat. I'm not really a reader of graphic novels in general, so I don't have a lot to compare this to, but it seemed to be well-organized and it flowed smoothly. Prior to reading this, I was only slightly familiar with the story. For anyone unfamiliar with the book, it's about a family that stopped aging and gained supernatural longevity after they drank from a spring in a forest. They are then forced to live forever, never growing older. My mom had read the original Tuck Everlasting to us as children, but that was quite a few years ago. I did decide to read it again after finishing the graphic novel, and so far it seems like this is very faithful to the original. That's something that I really appreciate in adaptions like this.
I don't think I have any negative comments to make about this book. It was absolutely beautiful. This is one that I would totally consider buying in the future. It would make a great addition to my shelf, and I believe it could be enjoyed by readers of every age.
Thanks so much to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC.

4⭐️ thank you NetGalley for providing this arc!
I love a graphic novel adaptation, especially as a teacher, knowing that it makes any book more accessible to my students. I wish it was longer and that parts were more drawn out. It felt a little too quick without enough development on areas like her relationship building with the Tucks. Overall, this adaptation was well done and felt true to the style of the original book.

This is a great adaptation of Natalie Babbitt’s Tuck Everlasting. It followed the story perfectly leaving in all of the important details. I wonder if the text would be readable for those that use accessibility features like a screen reader. I liked how the end of the book had a question and answer section and mini lesson on how to create graphic novels. This is the perfect book for students that want to read the story but not the chapter book. I will be recommending this story to my middle school students that like fantasy or graphic novels.

I have not actually read the book, or I read it so long ago that I don't recall ever having read this. But I have seen the movie, as all Gilmor Girls of a certain age and generation have. So, I went into this graphic novel with enough back story to be dangerous - the movie is not like the book - but not enough to really have understood the book. This means that when I read this book, it was almost as a new reader being introduced to the Tuck story for the first time. And it has also been a long while since I saw the movie so that did not help other than to lead me astray in my thinking a few times.
Ok, enough back story .... All that was to say that I generally enjoyed this graphic novel. It was readable and did a pretty good job of conveying the story. It definitely jumped some key pieces in the sense of creating and strengthening the relationships between the characters as well as their thinking, but all in all, it did cover the main plot well enough that I wasn't lost and could piece together the other elements. The Tuck story is interesting, and their relationships with each other and the land are also intriguing.
The negative I had with this was that I truly wanted it to be longer, to fill in some of the the gaps and to give me the pieces of the book that just were not as robust in the graphic novel. And to flesh out the deeper emotions. The ending was a lot less impactful as a result of the missing bits.
Artwork was nice. Not generally my favourite style but still nicely done.
All in all, this does the book justice or the movie.

I love how well this graphic novel was able to convey the original story! It was so nostalgic going back and reliving this tale as it was a favorite of mine growing up! The artwork was beautiful and the whole thing felt so cozy! I would recommend!

It is difficult to create a graphic novel for a historically important novel. This one was done very well. K Woodman-Maynard uses water colors and simple drawings to tell a complex story of life and death. The characters feel authentic, the drawings are immersive, and the color palette fits the older vibes to this classic story. I loved this book so much I had to go and check out K Woodman-Maynard's edition of The Great Gatsby.
I'm thankful for Macmillan Children's Publishing Group and Netgalley for sharing this digital ARC with me. I loved it.

Thank you Netgalley, Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, and Natalie Babbitt for sending me this advanced review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This is a beautiful graphic novel rendition of the book. It has all the same depth, and emotion. It still hits hard, reading it again over 20 years later.
I adore the muted color palate, ant the illustrations are so beautiful. The writing was easy to understand, and I think it would be perfect for a middle school aged kids.

K. Woodman-Maynard adapts Natalie Babbitt's middle-grade classic Tuck Everlasting (celebrating its 50th anniversary this year) into a graphic novel with wonderful results. The adaptation is true to the story and the watercolor illustrations are well done, emotive and charming. I was so taken with it that I read it through in one sitting!
I am delighted that this classic will be discovered anew by a new group of readers thanks to this graphic version!
My sincere appreciation to the author/illustrator, and to MacMillan Children's Publishing Group for allowing me to access a DRC of the book via NetGalley. Publication will be 9/2/25. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own and are freely given.

This is a gorgeous companion to the original novel, with extremely minimal changes. The soft watercolor-y style and the repeated motifs works perfectly for this story. My only quibble is that Winnie appears slightly younger than I imagined her, but that's just me.

I haven’t read the source material in ages but reading the graphic novel brought me right back. It’s very faithful to the original which I like. I love that so many graphic novels of classics are being published because it makes these books accessible to so many more people. I’m glad the “intimacy” between Jesse and Winnie is cut out because truly after examining the book from an adults eyes, I’m so creeped out by the age difference. A 17 year old (with an extra 80 years of experience) should not be cuddling with a 10 year old and asking them to spend their lives together. That’s grooming my friends.

This was a good representation of the text and the art really conveyed the mood of the story. This was one of my favorite books as a kid and I enjoyed the reread.

Tuck Everlasting has been one of my favorite novels since childhood. I reread it somewhat regularly and was excited to see a graphic novel being released. Needless to say, I loved it! I loved the color pallette and the illustration style. The story stayed true to the original, and gave off those same strong first week of August vibes that I know and love from the novel. If you enjoyed the original, I'm sure you will enjoy the graphic novel as well. I'm glad this exists to make a beautiful classic story even more accessible to a wide audience of readers.
