This was super adorable! I really enjoyed the art style but I wish we could've learned more about the characters as individuals. The plot mainly focuses on interactions between Marcus and Cog, which is great, but it means we don't get to see a lot of their home life or what they're like only with friends. Even the interactions Cog has with family and Toma all center around Marcus. We don't even see the restaurant that Marcus works at or any of their family because Cog is there for a moment and then gone the next. I thought it was odd that we didn't spend time in that scene and see what Marcus was like with his family.

FINALLY, I’m getting to read an actual book by Moosopp! I believe Sunny Boy was the first book they put out, but I wasn’t able to get my hands on that one first sooooooo…. DAYBREAK VOL.1 IT IS!
Having been in school together for quite some time, Marcus and Cog slowly began to get closer and closer after Marcus’s developed crush on Cog takes a turn. They start hanging out more, being more forward with each other on their likes and dislikes, and even hanging out with each other's different friend groups. It isn’t long before Cog realizes he might also have a crush on Marcus in return?
After YEARS AND YEARS of watching from the side lines through DeviantArt and then Instagram, I finally get some story line between Moosopp’s characters, AND THEY DO NOT DISAPPOINT! I had lots of fun and the art style is still the warm and loving art I remember. Cog is such a rizzcake and he’s so relatable tbh XDDD. I loved seeing Grey again and I can’t wait for the next volume!
My thanks to Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group, the Author, and NetGalley for the Digital ARC. This book is ALREADY OUT!!! Go check it out for yourself and see what you think!

Omg this was sooooo soft and cute!
It's a very slice-of-life read focusing on moments where the MCs get to know each other and/or flirt a bit. It definitely has Heartstopper vibes, if you're looking for something similar, and I loved the variety of LGBTQ+ rep, including trans and non-binary MCs.
So excited for the next volume! Definitely recommend!
Thank you to Webtoon Unscrolled and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.

This was a sweet, beautifully drawn graphic novel. I liked the overall plot and build of the romance, the way food was in corperated in their acts of love.

Daybreak Volume 1 by Moosopp hits the spot when it comes to cozy reads. This Young Adult graphic novel has a well done coming of age plot, beautiful artwork, and interesting characters that pull you into the story. This LGBTQIA+ story is similar to Heartstopper in that slice-of-life romantic comedy way. The main characters, Marcus and Cog, are seniors in high school and find themselves falling for each other slowly, but surely. This is one of the romances that everybody else around them can see how much they care for each other before they fully realize it. Wholesome, cozy and heartwarming are the three best words to describe the journey this graphic novel takes you on.

This is such a cute and awkward story about two young boys who like each other. One is trying to get the other’s attention, while it takes a while for the other to realize he’s being crushed on. We get to see their interactions at school and how their friends support them along the way. The art is super adorable, and it’s a great story for young teens who are navigating their first crushes and feelings.

This was an excellent read when it was just being posted on WebToons and now it's great to have the first book here altogether. It's a great representation of budding Black queer love that we don't get very much.

Cog is totally unprepared for the antics that ensue after Marcus develops a crush on him. Hopefully, as they work to become closer, they will be able to make each other's days better. Two kids from distinct buddy groups, Marcus and Cog, have just begun hanging out during their final year. They begin to perceive each other differently as a result of Marcus preparing Cog's lunch, Cog accompanying Marcus home, and unintentional paper-eating episodes.

This story was very cute and fun. Very quick read, nice art style. It felt like we already knew the characters from the start which gave it a very cozy vibe.

10's across the board. This was such a beautiful, fun love story. And the illustrations are colorful and well done. I flew through this graphic novel in 1 sitting.

Perfect for fans of cozy LGBTQ+ romance like Heartstopper and Bloom, this slice-of-life rom-com by debut creator Moosopp is the sunshiny story of Marcus and Cog falling for each other.
I would like to thank you NetGalley and Wattpad Webtoon Book Group for allowing me to read this cute LGBTQ+ graphic novel romance. I love this book and I look forward for Volume 2. I curious if Marcus and Cog will be dating or not. The story is place in High School and the main character like each other but not confess yet. I giving this book a 4.5 stars.

Daybreak is a sweet high school romance between Marcus and Cog. It focuses on their day-to-day interactions and has a slow pace. I like these kind of stories, so I didn't mind it. Friends to Lovers is underrated and I loved how cute Marcus was! The setting is an interesting mix between Japan and the states where the characters use american lingo and terms, but the characters visit places that are only typically found in Japan (i.e. karaoke). The artist drew such expressive characters, and it's enchanting to read!

Okay, this book was super cute. The art style was a big highlight; very charming and expressive. There were so many panels I wanted to save and use as reaction images with my friends. The main couple also had that very wholesome, cozy compatibility. Marcus especially was my favorite. He's such a sweet angel, and I love when the tall character is also a cutesy one.
I had two main gripes with this story. One, the pacing was fairly slow and the plot was so meandering that it almost felt like there was no plot at all. Slice of life to the absolute extreme. Not much forward momentum, just the characters going about their day to day while developing feelings for each other. That can definitely be enjoyable for a lot of readers, but it dragged for me. Two, the setting felt ungrounded to me, leaving me spending way too much time wondering what world I was in. Some elements, such as the strong manga influences, Cog saying "Yosh," characters eating lunch from bento boxes, the frequent use of Asian style karaoke rooms, etc., made me think this story took place in Japan. But then Cog would say things like "I'll give you five bucks" or "going upstate" and I'd think the story took place in the USA. It was a distracting, ongoing issue the entire time I read. I felt like I was floating in limbo instead of grounded in a time and place in this story.
Overall, the general sweetness and charisma of the characters is enough to make me want to read the next volume.

Thank you to Wattpad WEBTOON Book Group and NetGalley for the eGalley to review!
I was familiar with this comic before reading this volume, going back to the Moosopp's concept sketching on Twitter, so I was very pleased to see how far it's come. Cog and Marcus are absolutely adorable and their blossoming romance is so sweet and so funny (Cog's best friend and wingman Toma is so hilarious himself and the amount of times he made me actually laugh out loud is too many to count). Moosopp's art style is such a delight to look at and it is so expressive and colorful that I have no doubt many aspiring artists are going to be studying these comics for their own art.
If you love saccharine sweet romcoms featuring queer characters, this one's for you. My only issue with it was the volume cut off too soon for me. This easily remedied by simply seeking out the original Webtoon itself, though, so go check it out while you're waiting for volume 2 to be printed!

This is a sweet high school romance. It’s so cute and well-made. The art is beautiful. The way Cog and Marcus relationship changes. How you get to see them realize they like each other. Also the way they get to know each other on a personal level. And the blushes are just so adorable. I like how there is a lot of representation in this graphic novel. The friends are both caring and supportive. And the ending of the novel just makes you want more of these two. I cannot wait for the next volume to come out.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC!
This was a great palate cleanser for me. I’ve been wading through a slump and this book was so cute, refreshing, and gay. The watermarks on every single page took me out of the story and irritated me to the point of almost DNFing, but I stuck it out and I’m happy I did. I love books that depict soft characters who are patient and caring. I was fully engaged—yapping to the characters, LOLing and everything. There’s also a Tsundere in here! I enjoyed seeing him crack and break into the biggest, heartwarming smiles. This was the perfect story. I dragged it out as long as I could. I got to the end and screamed, “NO!” Desperately waiting for Volume 2.

This is such a sweet story. Two friends in high school caring for each other as their feelings for each other deepen. Cog and Marcus are thoughtful, tender and so kind to each other. Love that their other friends, while quirky and mischievous at times, were immediately supportive. Definitely want to get this in print!

Teens falling in love is so cute!!! Cog is obliviousness is so true for every teenager ever. I also appreciate how Marcus used the correct pronouns when talking to or about Cog. Toma is the friend we all have that is full of energy and always on 12. Such a great story and cute quick read.

The first volume of "Daybreak" was a very cute read, basically a story of two little sillies falling for one another, and their oft thoughtful, sometimes funny shenanigans along the way. The book is casually diverse, with the characters' identities a seamless part of their selves and relationship with others; it's almost utopian, in fact.
Moosopp's art is also very expressive: the chibis are adorable, and I have never seen such facially expressive and hilarious characters (especially Cog) in a Western comic/graphic novel. The art is fluid and natural, though I wish there were more scenes where the background was more prominent, such as the cafe date where it's supposedly a really cute cafe, but one can't tell at all because aside from the characters, nothing in the cafe is shown. More detailed background in scenes that need it would truly elevate the story visually.
Overall, I really enjoyed this and already look forward to the next volume!

This was so cute, and I can’t wait to revisit these characters and see where their relationship goes. I loved all how the emotions were drawn and how they both had freak out moments.
