Ahhhhhhh I love this webcomic and I'm so happy it's in a book form!
The art is amazing and I love the diverse characters it's so refreshing to not have white cishet people as the main characters especially in a graphic novel. I also adore that these characters KNOW who they are and are just falling in love together, the fact that Cog uses They/He pronouns and it's never blatantly stated is top tier perfection.
I've read this before on Webtoon and I'll read it again in any book form! I love reading Webtoons and I'm always so excited when they come out with books for them

This was too stinking cute! I loved the art style and how you could pick out the manga influences; it had excellent diversity (queer Black main characters, secondary characters who are POC, one character with vitiligo—maybe even dyslexia rep?); and I was giggling the whole time over how genuinely funny it was. Watching Marcus crush on Cog and then Cog crush on Marcus was a joy. As wonderful as some graphic novels and web comics are at depicting topics such as mental health and family drama, sometimes you just need a light, fluffy, feel-good read. My only notes are that I want to see more of the boys' friends and family, and that Cog's pronouns were sometimes unclear ("he" vs. "they" in the span of two speech bubbles).

Will definitely pick up the next volume!

I received an ARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a sweet story! Both of the love interests were so wholesome and all of their interactions had me giggling and kicking my feet. It really felt like a sugar rush to read in the best way possible. I can’t wait to see how their relationship progresses in future volumes!

So unbelievably cute and funny!!! I need more ASAP! Cog and Marcus have such cute chemistry but are also both extremely dense that it makes me want to keep reading till they finally realize it’s mutual.

This was a little bit too young for me to enjoy. I was hoping for something a little more in-depth. The rep is there and it's worth the read if you want something sweet.

Marcus and Cog are crushing, hard. Follow their cozy and wholesome journey as they discover more about each other and themselves in the crazy world of high school. There is nothing like the feeling of crushing on someone and the butterflies are contagious!

With such beautiful colors and personalities, Moosopp brings the unique characters in Daybreak to life. Moosopp creates spaces for everyone highlighting the rich diversity of life. Marcus and Cog are so lovable, pretty, and charming, it is impossible not to get hooked on their romance. This book is perfect for teens who are breaking the gap between online and physical content. The content and story is of interest to a wide range of teens and accessible to many grade levels. For teens of this era the unscrolled format of this graphic novel is easy to follow. For those who are not accustomed to Webtoon or scrolling may learn implied episode breaks within the novel.

Wow, Daybreak was a very endearing novel about two friends failing in love. I adored the book's art style and all of the cute moments, of which there were many. I really enjoyed how it initially seemed to be from Marcus' perspective and changed into Cog's as the book went on, giving you a good feel of the characters and their feelings. I can't wait for the second volume because that cliffhanger got me in a state of anticipation.
Thank you, NetGalley and the publishers, for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

soooooooo cute!

Daybreak is a graphic novel about Cog and Marcus. The two high schoolers slowly are developing feelings for each other. We are also introduced to some of their friends and family!

Moos does a great job of capturing the feeling of butterflies when flirting with someone. The art is so expressive and bright, which brings the character's feelings to life! I liked that their weren't huge miscommunications or conflicts, but rather the everyday ups and downs of having a crush, and the overall fun & wholesome nature of crushing on someone!!! I can't wait to see more of this couple & the side characters in future volumes.

(thank you to netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a free eARC in exchange for my honest review!)

Very, very cute! The art is great, and both characters are adorable. Very soft and cozy vibes. Can’t wait to read more!

Sweet and cozy I loved that fact that both main characters were black with black features which isn’t something you see much in comics. A fast and enjoyable read.

This made me smile SO hard. The art style is adorable, all of the characters are unique and charming. There is no plot to this, and that's just fine. Follow our two sillies as they navigate school and crushes and yummy food. I blew through this so fast I had to go back and enjoy it all over again. Tooth-rottingly sweet and full of fluff. If you need a pick me up, Daybreak is perfect!

My thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

Unfortunately, this book didn’t quite work for me. While the illustrations were visually appealing, the plot felt disorganized and lacked a strong, cohesive direction. The characters also felt scattered, making it hard to connect with them or fully engage in the story. I think the plot had potential but could have been developed more effectively for a stronger impact.

This is a sweet story about young love. The characters were incredibly relatable and it made want to keep turning the pages. I think it's a great example of the butterflies you get when you have a crush on someone, and I loved the fact that the cast of characters were diverse. I can't wait to read the next volume!

Before I begin, I would like to thank Moosopp for allowing me to read a Net Galley copy of Daybreak Volume One, which will be available on July 1st, 2025.

Marcus has a crush on Cog, and Cog has no idea what kind of shenanigans are gonna happen. They’re from different friend groups and start spending time together. From Marcus making Cog lunch, Cog walking Marcus home, and someone eating paper (it was an accident), they get to know each other better. Marcus is so sweet and wholesome, and Cog can get easily overloaded with stuff, so there’s no telling when they’re gonna confess their feelings to each other. It’s okay though, as long as they get to spend time together. This volume has episodes 1-52 of the Webtoon comic Daybreak.

This volume is fantastic. You have Marcus, a talented, sweet, and cute young teen that is devoted to working hard and being there for his loved ones. You have Cog, an honest, cool, old-school, easily flustered and handsome young person that loves food, books, and music. Marcus and Cog’s interactions were adorable, and I loved the friend dynamics between each of the main characters and their friends. The art was incredible, and the representation (people of color, LGBTQ+ etc.) was amazing. Seeing Marcus and Cog react to when one of them did something sweet made my heart melt, and I love this comic so much. The food looked delicious and I wanna wear Marcus’ outfits. Overall, if you like wholesome stories, great friend dynamics, cute and funny banter, great LGBTQ+ and POC representation, and sweet budding romance with low amounts of spice, then I highly recommend this book. Super cute and sweet. This is peak teen drama and angst surrounding crushes and relationships and instantly transported me to being back in high school.

Now a graphic novel is the only way I will take my slow burns from this point on, because this was so cute. If you want a lil grumpy sunshine kind of vibes this is definitely it. Marcus aka Golden Retriever and Cog aka Black cat lol are two high school students navigating their crush and feelings towards each other. The ending has my heart on the floor because I need to know...what's going to happen between Cog and Marcus. I'm invested!!!

“Daybreak Volume One” is an absolute delight—a cozy, feel-good romance that radiates warmth and joy. Following Marcus, a sweet bisexual trans boy, and Cog, a flustered but lovable nonbinary Afro-Latinx gay, this story is full of adorable moments, slow-burn pining, and wholesome interactions. It’s so refreshing to see a Black queer love story centered on joy, offering the kind of comfort read that feels like a warm hug.

Moosopp’s artwork is stunning, perfectly capturing the tender romance and everyday moments that make Marcus and Cog’s dynamic so endearing. Their mutual pining and hilarious mishaps make this a perfect read for fans of “Heartstopper” and “Bloom”. With so much stress in the world, “Daybreak” is a much-needed breath of fresh air, celebrating queer love in the sweetest way.

Daybreak is a cute slice of life graphic novel following two high schoolers, Marcus and Cog. The two have different ways of showing their affection and must recognize what they're feeling. This was an easy read, but it sometimes felt too simplistic when not much backstory is given. I still enjoyed it and look forward to reading future volumes. Thanks to Webtoon Unscrolled and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

What a cute slice of life story about two queer kids with mutual crushes and little idea how to properly communicate their feelings. It's very wholesome, funny, and quirky in a way that automatically has you finding them endearing. There's a very realistic arc of them building up their friendship as they both work through the classic teen struggles of understanding romantic feelings for the first time. Engaging art style where the characters are given depth and emotional nuance. I wish I could binge read all of the volumes at once!

I loved this series on Webtoon, and I'm so happy to see it come to print! The art is absolutely adorable, taking on a bit of a shoju anime quality, and the story is sweet and wholesome. It is a high school slice of life comic that follows two high school students and their slow friendship / mutual crush as they get closer and eventually start dating. This is definitely a slow burn, but the amount of blushing and pining and cute moments absolutely makes up for the longer wait. The main characters in this book are both trans / nonbinary (though it's only really discussed in later volumes) and they're both absolutely adorable in their own way. Cog is nonbinary (he/they pronouns) and is a bit of a clueless grump, whereas Marcus (trans, he/him pronouns) is much more obvious in his affections. It's hinted that Cog might be ace-spec since he's never had a crush on anyone before. This is definitely a queer normative universe since there's a lot of acceptance of both gender identities and the relationship between them.

I absolutely love both the art and the story in this volume. It's done with a lot of intentionality, which I appreciate. The pages are filled with characters of all religions, backgrounds, and body types, with a lot of diversity not just in the main characters but also in background and side characters. Each character is distinct in their appearance and personality and always has a purpose for being there. Unlike the Webtoon, which felt very episodic, the assembled volume has a more complete flow and it's really nice to see how the pages and episodes flow together, even though the content is basically the same. The content is very wholesome and low angst. I think this is the perfect cozy, low stress read with the most adorable romance and absolutely gorgeous artwork.
