Madge Maril’s debut, Slipstream, redlines from page one and never lets up. As a serious documentary filmmaker, Lilah Graywood is thrust into the glamorous, high-octane world of Formula 1 after a shocking betrayal from her business partner and boyfriend, Max. What starts as rage-fueled revenge quickly turns into something far more powerful, and Maril masterfully blends heart-pounding drama with tender emotion.
Fans of both romance and motorsports will find much to adore here. Whether you're a die-hard F1 aficionado or a newcomer to the racing scene, Maril’s vivid prose and insightful detail make the circuits come alive, all without sacrificing emotional resonance.
Slipstream delivers a powerful blend of revenge fantasy, slow-burn romance, and personal growth. It’s fast-paced and heartfelt, glamorous and genuine. If you're ready to fall hard—both for the story and the characters—this thrilling romance is your next must-read.

This one was ok. I enjoyed the relationship between Lilah and Arthur. They had good chemistry with each other and banter. I just found the plot to be a little slow at points.

THIS BOOK IS EVERYTHING TO ME
I loved it so much and felt so seen by Lila and Arthur? OMG THAT MAN SHOULD BE REAL its a crime that he isn't because I really enjoyed their banter, the way the story is a true slow burn that I was so relieved when they finally had their moment and being seen and understood by Arthur was so beautiful and even all the ways he listed what he loved about Lila has me absolutely SAT for Maril's next work!!

Thank you so much to Simon & Schuster & NetGalley for this e-arc.
I had a great time getting to know both characters, and I loved how their relationship developed slowly. As someone who has always been labeled as quiet, I identified with Lilah. I've always had difficulty speaking up for myself because I was too nervous. I appreciated seeing her come out of her shell and develop as a person. I understand what it's like to be concerned about the opinions of others, and it's particularly difficult in male-dominated environments. So it was pleasant to watch Lilah discover herself amidst it all. I really enjoyed how these two met and fell in love, and the fact that this was an F1 romance was my favorite.

The fmc's bisexuality is used as a tool to effectively turn on the mmc and make her seem more sexy because she's been with other women and likes more than just penetration and it felt weird. It would've made me dnf if it was earlier in the book, but I was so far into it I decide to hate finish it.

Fresh off a brutal breakup, filmmaker Lilah teams up with racing driver Arthur Bianco for a whirlwind of revenge, redemption, and perhaps more.
Lilah’s fierce determination to reclaim her life is infectious. Her partnership with the enigmatic Arthur adds an exciting twist, as they navigate high-speed races and emotional hurdles together. The chemistry between them sizzles.
Madge Maril masterfully blends adrenaline-pumping action of F1 with heartfelt moments, showcasing how two people can heal and grow through unexpected partnerships. The witty banter keeps the pace lively.
Whether you’re a racing fan or just love a good comeback story, Slipstream delivers on all fronts. It’s a captivating journey of self-discovery, the power of second chances, and a sweet romance. Buckle up—this book is one joyride you won’t want to miss!

4.5
I did this on audio with ebook immersive and just had the best time. she's making a documentary on him. knows nothing about F1. there's ex bf/co.worker drama. there's emotions and panic attacks. adhd 1 spicy scenes and lots of swoony moments. I think if we had his thoughts this would have been 5 stars

I loved Liliah and Arthur so much!! Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes so I was excited to read this and it did not disappoint.
I really enjoyed getting to know both characters so much and I loved the slow burn between them.
As someone who has been called quiet their whole lives, I related so much to Lilah. I’ve always had so much trouble speaking up for myself because I was too scared. I really enjoyed watching her come out of her shell and grow as a person. I know what it’s like to worry about the opinion of others, and it only gets worse in male dominated areas. So it was refreshing to see Lilah find herself through it all.
I also appreciated seeing Arthur open up. In the beginning, he came off as very confident, pompous, and even a little selfish, so it was nice to see more depth to him.
I really just loved how these two got to know each other and fell in love and the fact that this was an F1 romance was an added bonus!
Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the ARC!

I really enjoyed this slow burn romance set in the world of Formula 1. I thought that the premise was well conceived and I am always a fan of the slow burn.

Bulletpoints:
-Sports Romance: F1
-Slow burn
-Fake Dating
I love a good sports romance, and I love F1, so I was PUMPED to read this book.
I loved Lilah, she is such a relatable FMC. There is nothing quite like being thrown into a world you were not prepared for, and yet she handles it shockingly well (even while dealing with Arthur, the team's reserve driver).
As an F1 fan, I can get how complicated the sport can be to people who are not into it, but I think Maril does a great job of brining in a fun romance layered with the sport itself.
This was a fun sports romance, and I really enjoyed it!

Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
This is truly the year for F1 romances and I am here for it!!
I wanted to love this book but after reading Crash Test, I feel that I will be holding all other F1 reads to that books standards and well... I DNF'd this one about 50% in.
The ADHD representation was NOT it... as someone that has adhd the way that it was portrayed absolutely drove me insane.
Lilah's job title was plain annoying and was used far too often - once a job is explained and the title given, that's enough - it's not needed to be repeated over and over.
Max is a total dickwad, just absolutely cruel and um... ADHD doesn't make you "forget to manage" paperwork; let's just call it like it is - he was controlling and manipulated her and didn't put her on the forms. See, simple.
Then we have the fake dating with Arthur.... he's a bit of a dud right from the start, and supposedly he's crushing on Lilah? I didn't buy that at all, and couldn't see how a romance would ever truly work with that duo. He falls in love with a girl he doesn't know, and she is insecure and annoying and just not redeemable. The spice...namely the mouth on Arthur was the only enjoyable part because oh my word!!!

This was a DNF for me, I appreciate the arc being sent but this type of romance (the f1 aspect) just isn’t really my vibes.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an early review copy of this book. Slipsteam is a romance novel that follows an F1 driver and a documentarian. There was a lot of potential for this one, and while there were parts of it I enjoyed, it just was an alright read. I didn't love our female lead for this book. She wasn't someone I could relate to. I did really like our male main character. I liked the effect that he has on our leading lady. The two of them together worked well and I liked it. Overall, this wasn't a hit for me, but it was good enough to finish.

Loooooooove!!
Enemies to lovers
fake dating
set in the world of formula 1
great chemistry and minimal on page spice!

Do you need to know everything about F1 in order to enjoy Slipstream? No, I learned a lot while reading. This is balanced well between the sport and romance. Lilah is brought in as part of a documentary crew to film the Ignite team, specifically Arthur. Arthur has no interest in doing the film and wants to find a way out of it. Lilah also has reasons she doesn’t want to do the film. Cue fake dating.
Overall I liked the dynamics. Lilah is neurodivergent but she doesn’t make everything about it. She is very matter of fact with things she does differently. Arthur is hyper observant and at first seems like a typical jock but he has his own issues.

I absolutely zoomed through this book, slight pun intended. Oh my goodness I just couldn’t stop reading it, everything about this book was perfect!
This is the only the second F1 book I have ever read, but it definitely won’t be the last! Reading this made me even want to sit down and watch a couple races on tv, which I haven’t don’t yet but plan to in the future!
There’s just something about Arthur that I couldn’t get enough of, seeing how fast and hard he fell for Lilah made me constantly squeal!
Speaking of my girl Lilah, I’m so happy to have a character like her in media. As a bi, ADHD woman myself, I felt completely seen by her. I felt her struggles, her mentioning her pills even helped me remember to take mine a couple days!
I seriously cannot wait to introduce this book to all my other sports romance loving friends. Thank you to the author and Net Galley for the advanced copy read!

While the idea of this book was great, I felt like at times the story was just dragging along. I could not relate to the female protagonist as I only found her whiny and oblivious. I could not finish the book but hopefully one day I will pick it up again. Thank you.

I loved how this started: she was anti-F1 and sports and then it all slowly made her want to know everything about F1. I love the trauma healing, and loved the girls coming together. I do wish there was more explanation about F1 but I was able to get the gist of it.
His storyline coming through and his mental health arc was done so well. I loved seeing him learn to let others help him. And I loved seeing him stand up for himself. I think he really showed Lilah what it means to be part of a team.
They both finally found someone to have their back, and it was wonderful to read!

This is a new to me author and I don't read a lot of racing, but I'm officially a fan of both! I am surprised this was a debut because it was so beautifully written. The technical terms were a bit much for me only because it was unfamiliar territory, but it didn't take away from the story! I am so excited to read more from this author.

I enjoy Formula 1 books a lot 🏎️ and I was so interested in this one because it had fake dating AND the FMC was a documentarian 🎥, I thought it was a good combo. And don’t get me wrong, for some readers it will be… but sadly, this book wasn’t for me 😕
If I could summarize this book, it would come down to this: two people develop a friendship and, because of a dress malfunction, they decide to give into the attraction… lmao 😂
I couldn’t really get into the characters. He was very flirty, but also allusive. She was very stubborn and overthinker. The plot was supposed to be about fake dating, but the fake dating was very surface level because technically, they couldn’t even be seen together because she works for the Formula 1 team, so it had to be super hush-hush 🤐… then… why fake date? screams. Even the friendship felt a bit flat at times, and sadly I needed more tension, which I didn’t really get here 🫠
Once again, I think some people will love this book! I still finished it and enjoyed some scenes like the smut definitely saved the book for me 🔥 as well as the actual races 🏁 I don’t just love sports romance for the romance, I love when they weave in the sport itself the right way 🙌 and here it was done just right!!!
tropes
🏁 sports romance
🏁 fake dating (debatable for me lol)
