This is truly a stand-out in the F1 genre. It is one of the most beautiful books I have ever read, the writing is absolutely exquisite.
It is stuffed full of big emotions, ginormous ones, ones you’ve never been able to express or have seen in written word before.
Seeing the world through Lilah’s eyes is absolutely beautiful, truly like you are watching a documentary. You fall for her so much, watching her grow and change is heartwarming and her character development is phenomenal.
Arthur is as complex as he is beautiful. These characters are delved into so deeply it makes you feel out of breath. I’ve never seen love captured in such a big, brilliant way - like an explosion of colour.
Truly truly an amazing book.

This was my first Formula 1 romance and wow what an amazing sport to set a high stakes romance in!! I adored the chemistry between Lilah and Arthur, the nuances in their personalities made them feel so real and their challenges felt authentic. If you’re looking for a great summer sports romance you have GOT to read this book!!

for a debut novel, madge maril knocked this one out of the park!
formula one romance is one of my favorite genres of romance so i knew i was going to enjoy this one but couldn’t have expected how much!
lilah and aurthur were such an unlikely duo but their plan to team up and execute a scheme to get back at her cheating ex made worked out perfectly in every way!
i saw so much of myself in lilah and that is one of my absolute favorite parts of this book. she’s such a raw and real character i was able to connect with so easily!
the romance between lilah and aurthur was so wholesome and yet so fiery at the same time. the angst and longing could be felt through the pages, and the added depth of it being forbidden made it so much better!
i fell so wholly in love with this universe and these characters and i can’t wait to see what madge does next!
thank you to netgalley and simon & schuster for thid arc!

This book was very jumbled and hard to follow at times. As someone who is neurodiverse myself, I also found the FMC to be annoying in “that not like other girls” kind of way. And she, at times, was an inaccurate/bad portrayal of neurodiversity, such as when she somehow lost an entire suitcase and just thought it wasn’t a big deal?
However, I loved the MMC; he was the best part of this read by far. I struggled to understand his intense connection to the FMC that built so fast, but I was invested in his comeback story and did love his book boyfriends/husband energy. He’s the reason I rated this three stars, rather than way lower.

What could have been a generic sports/F1 romance is given a surprising emotional depth with the character of the FMC, Lilah. At the outset, she's competent, but trusting of her partner and given a shattering blow of his malfeasance. While her Neuro divergent traits we seen by him and her as expressions of limitations, as she grows throughout this story she realizes that they aren't. Admittedly I know next to nothing about F1, so the culture was brand new and interesting as I learned through her experiences. Thanks to netgalley for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was my first F1 romance books and it definitely makes me want to read more!!
Arthur understood Lilah even before she opened up to him about how her thought process worked with having ADHD and her childhood trauma. I love how Lilah stood up for Arthur and his mental health. She showed him that he didn’t have to do what he felt pressured to do whether it was from pressure on himself or from what his uncle expected from him.
I really enjoyed the slow burn in this book! I do wish there were more scenes between Arthur and Lilah but all in all, I loved their chemistry, the banter and how their friendship grew 🥹 Arthur was down bad for Lilah and I was so excited when she finally realized that he was head over heels just as much as she was for him 🫶🏻

Slipstream by Madge Maril is the kind of book that makes you forget you're reading, in the best way. The way that Madge nailed the pacing of Lilah and Arthur's story PERFECTLY is so impressive, Lilah Graywood is a documentary filmmaker who knows nothing about the world of Formula 1 and winds up with Arthur Bianco as a begrudging subject. Arthur is a Formula 1 reserve driver for his uncle's team, seemingly out of options career-wise. The strings of fate lead to a fake dating scheme (my faveeeee) and the two are jet-setting across the globe with the world's most glamorous sport.
There's plotting, revenge, blackmail, SOOOO much good banter, and some great golden retreiver moments. Definitely recommend.

This was more detailed on F1 than any F1 romance I have read so far. I liked the idea of the plot but i had some trouble with the relationships between the main characters and the side characters.

Slipstream was my first F1 inspired romance book and I enjoyed it. I’ll definitely be adding a few more to my tbr.
I liked Lilah and Arthur together and loved the slow burn of how she filmed Arthur falling for her while she was falling for him without even realizing it. Agreeing to be part of Arthur’s scheme to get him out of his contract while also helping herself get back at her ex-boyfriend/best friend/business partner was smart on Lilah’s part. She never saw herself falling for Arthur because of her documentarian code and while holding onto the code she was able to see the real Arthur because for as much as Arthur dislikes the media he saw how genuine Lilah is and how much he wanted to know her because of how she made him feel. Their banter back and forth was perfect for them and Arthur never made Lilah feel less than and listened.
Thank you @simonandschuster and @netgalley for this eARC in exchange for my honest feedback

Thank you, again, to Simon & Schuster for letting me read this ARC! It was so much fun to read about F1 and like our FMC, I knew nothing about the sport going in. However, the characters flaws and quirks were so refreshing to read. BOTH main characters dealing with their own demons? Absolutely, sign me up, please. This was so enjoyable and I would love to recommend this book to others. :)

This book was everything! I have so many words, because I loved loved Lilah and Arthur! Their individual story and their story together was everything! Lilah is this woman who is thrown into a truly messed up situation and how she took it even though she was not fully confident in herself!! It took guts and that with who Arthur is in F1 and in her life, became a strong team! A team that became more, when he called her "his Wife" swoon! Everything he does swoon! Oh, and MAX he can burn!!!!!!!!!! lol
I loved this book, I love F1 romances! I will always tell people to pick up this book!

This book was my first formula 1 book and I wasn't sure what to expect. I loved it right off the bat but as time went on I became less interested. I felt like the relationship was forced and they didn't have a lot in common. But I did love seeing the inside world of racing politics and the effects that it has on people. I was intrigued enough, that I'm excited to see what the author will do next.

VROOM VROOM this was a fun time!! I don't know a lot about the world of F1, but that didn't stop my from riding along through this entire book. I was pleasantly surprised by the immediate connection I felt to the characters and the story. I can't believe this is a debut! I loved Lilah and Arthur's romance so much. :)

Lilah Graywood is a film documentarian more comfortable living life behind the camera. Her ADHD and social anxiety make it hard to get close to anyone, which makes her boyfriend/best friend Max's betrayal even worse when he breaks up with her and steals their film company from her. Luckily, Arthur, the reserve driver she's been assigned to fill makes a deal with her insisting only she can film his story if she'll agree to fake date him to help his career. All of a sudden, Arthur's back in the circuit and winning and Lilah is traveling with him. Their relationship starts to feel all too real to her, but why would a famous F1 driver ever want to stay with her when everyone in her life always leaves?
The story is told from Lilah's perspective but the hints throughout show that he definitely falls first and her insecurity won't let her see it. It's a slow burn romance with mental health issues on both sides that cause tension and misunderstandings. I loved all the behind the scenes of the F1 circuit and how Lilah learned to love the sport.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Okay but this is cute!
So I was locked out of my Netgally for a while and then when I logged back on I tore right through this one. From the genuine reactions to Lilah’s ADHD and Arthur’s panic attacks it was nice to read something that didn’t feel like it completely “over” do it if that makes sense. Otherwise I do feel like the genuine connection and banter in this book just really highlighted the chemistry between the characters. Would definitely recommend.

Thank you to NetGalley and Simon & Schuster for the free e-ARC in exchange for an honest review!
As an avid Drive to Survive fan, I honestly can’t believe this is the first F1 romance I’ve ever read—and it did not disappoint. Madge Maril clearly did her homework, because the F1 vibes in this book were spot-on. It was giving Red Bull vs. McLaren energy in all the best ways, and I was so here for it.
Lilah is a main character you can’t help but root for. Maril does an incredible job portraying ADHD authentically and with heart. Lilah reminded me of an Ali Hazelwood FMC: smart, independent, career-focused—quiet at first, but layered, complex, and totally relatable.
And Arthur? Arthur is pure chaotic charm. Think Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda had a love child—unfiltered, magnetic, and a total scene-stealer.
Their chemistry? Completely believable, thanks to the delicious slow burn Maril puts us through. If you love Formula 1, you’ll absolutely enjoy this. And if Ali Hazelwood-style romances are your thing? You’ve found your next favorite.

⭐️ Rating: 4.5/5
I devoured this one in less than two days and honestly I loved it so much. As a neurodivergent weirdo, I really love the accurate representation of ADHD and what life can look like. It also features someone who thinks too much, feels too much and has a hard time connecting with others which is very much how I feel sometimes - on the outside looking in. It’s also a sports romance featuring an F1 driver and I really enjoyed the racing aspects. It’s such a slow burn and it took agessss for them to kiss but it was so worth it and I was kicking my feet and giggling, very much along for the ride! So much tension! I really loved the combination of Arthur and Lilah - I thought they fit together beautifully, pushing each other and growing together and their banter was so much fun.
I really can’t wait to read more from Madge Maril. I literally did not want to put this book down. Read this one y’all! Thank you @simonbooks for the eARC in exchange for my honest opinion

Okay, Slipstream is a revenge plot and a fake-dating scheme combined. Lilah decides to mess with her cheating ex by tanking their documentary (love that for her), while also faking a relationship with Arthur to stick it to his shady uncle. Petty? Yes. Glorious? Absolutely.
Also, let’s talk about Arthur for a sec. He’s a dreamy, protective, multilingual Formula 1 driver, which, by the way, I didn’t know I needed in my romance reads until now. And Lilah? She’s a powerhouse. Neurodivergent, an orphan, heartbroken, and facing a business-split from her ex… she’s juggling a lot. But she doesn’t just survive, she thrives—with sass, grit, and a touch of chaos.
Between the drama, the slow-burn romance, and the found family vibes, this book gave me everything. Was it a little wild and over-the-top? Yep. Did I love every second of it? You bet. Slipstream is pure entertainment on wheels. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!

I have a couple of issues with this book.
He does remind me of Daniel Ricciardo, and he was kind of a jerk to her for a "reason" then uses her and fair they mutually used each other but I don't know. Even though I did like some moments the ending is probably why I I didn't love it.
His grand gesture felt like he was buying her.

Slipstream is an impressive and emotionally rich debut that blends humor, heart, and high-speed drama. The story centers on Lilah Graywood, a documentarian whose life is upended when she’s abruptly dumped by her boyfriend—who also happens to be her business partner and best friend. Enter Arthur Bianco, a high-profile Formula 1 driver with his own complicated history. What starts as a calculated plan for mutual gain—complete with fake dating—quickly becomes something deeper as Lilah is drawn into the chaotic world of racing, and into Arthur’s orbit.
Lilah is a standout protagonist—layered, honest, and instantly relatable. Her ADHD is woven seamlessly into her characterization, not as a gimmick, but as a real and resonant part of her experience. She’s introspective, awkward, funny, and fiercely passionate about her work. Watching her reclaim her sense of self after being told she’s too much or not enough is one of the most rewarding arcs in the book. Her voice is fresh, vulnerable, and sharp in a way that lingers long after the final page.
Arthur is equally compelling. On the surface, he’s a polished, enigmatic athlete with attitude—but beneath that is a man shaped by pressure, past betrayals, and a longing for authenticity. He’s guarded but not cold, confident but never immune to doubt. His interactions with Lilah are where he truly comes alive, and their connection feels earned and deeply human.
The romance unfolds with a delicious slow burn, charged with tension and tender moments. There’s undeniable chemistry, but it’s the emotional intimacy that really sets their relationship apart. Through banter, conflict, and quiet understanding, their dynamic shifts from calculated partnership to something honest and unshakable. It’s the kind of romance that builds gradually and hits hard.
This book was thoughtful, funny, and emotionally satisfying. It’s a love story, yes, but also a story about rebuilding, rediscovery, and choosing your own path—even when the world is racing past you.
