I will fully admit to choosing this book based on the title alone. It turned out to be a very encouraging book, and it might be my favorite read of the year. I loved the possum pie recipe at the end. *It does not include actual possum.*

Despite how the old saying goes, we all judge books by their covers, even when we know we shouldn’t; case in point is Eat the Possum by Dr. John Utley, and it’s not a cookbook. It is an engaging, encouraging book about doing the hard things in life, the things procrastination was made for. I live in rural Georgia and have several true possum stories of my own, and no animals were harmed in the process. I would have bought the book for the cover alone, but in the pages are so many positive solutions for recurring issues not dealt with, and reasons why we avoid these (we are not alone.) There are personality profiles and step-by-step guides included, and while it is humorous at times, the work is serious. I would recommend Eat the Possum to anyone trying to break the cycle of defeat in any area of their life, who needs encouragement and a plan.
