While not as compelling as the first book in the duology, this is still a strong conclusion. I enjoyed returning to this grim fantasy world with its messy politics and religion. Hellevir is once again plagued by her infatuation with the brutal Princess Sullivain and must decide where she stands as war threatens the kingdom.
