This was my first Charis Michaels book and it will not be my last!! This book is the final title in a trilogy, but could very easily be read as a stand alone (which I thought it was until the very end when they introduced earlier characters). I was really drawn in to the story of the lost royals and being found again. Dani and Luke’s story was well done and I was very sad when it ended. After I finished, I prompted ordered books 1 and 2. Charis does a good job with bending history and has done good research.

Loved reading the wonderfully written romance story. Captain Luke Bannock has a plan to rescue the older man who is like a father to him from a dungeon in France; Luke's plan is to marry a hidden royal, Danielle, who has no idea she is a princess. Read the highly recommended, captivating characters, and a must read riveting love story.

I'll start with saying, I love the hidden royalty trope, especially if the person in question doesn't know who they are.
As with most historical romances, it's a slow burn, but the romance is very sweet.
It was so obvious Dani and Luke Bannock were in love from the start, though Luke had his reasons for being more reserved.
My only problems with the story were how long it took everyone to tell Dani things (it really takes ages because it's a little here and there), and then she gets mad at her initial role in Luke's plan, just to turn around do the same thing herself.

This one was not for me. I’m a historical romance fiend, and Avon almost always delivers. I wish I could say that I loved Claiming the Princess, but unfortunately I can’t. The first 20% is very far fetched. The characters behaviors, and words were just unbelievable. This was a start-to-finish problem, and I never felt like my head was above water.

Claiming the Princess snuck up on me—much like Abbott himself. It’s been far too long since I’ve read a historical romance, and books like this are exactly what sparked and shaped my love of reading. Luke and Danielle were a lovely, swoonworthy pair. Some parts felt a bit wordy—I’m more of a dialogue girl—but overall, this was a delightful, romantic read.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers for the privilege of receiving this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley for an eARC of the book.
Captain Luke Bannock–smuggler, recently turned national hero–is determined to rescue his adoptive father and seek revenge against the wealthy French nobleman holding his father captive. His plans on revenge lead him to marry Danielle Allard, an exiled French princess. The perfect trigger for this revenge plan. A small problem–Danielle has zero knowledge of her royal background and her impending betrothal. As Luke gets to know Danielle, his original plan to use her to bait the French nobleman falters as he grows to care and fall for her.
This was a light and cozy read. I adore the secret royal trope and this book completely satisfied it. But I did feel that the reveal of Danielle’s true identity did drag a bit. This made the first half of the book a tad slow in pacing. I think some scenes could have been trimmed a bit and the revelation to Dani could have been dropped a bit earlier. I will say that a positive of the slow pace was the inclusion of Luke and Dani’s increasingly romantic interactions. The author was able to pace the romance so excellently that the two falling in love felt inevitable and the chemistry was palpable. Once the story does hit its turning point, the book hits its stride and delivers a satisfying ending.

I was excited about this book but it lacks excitement. Too many grammatical errors and interpretation of the language. The author tried to write it in old English but it is poorly done. Stopped reading at Chapter 3.

You could easily read this final book of the trilogy on its own and not miss a bit of its charm but if you’ve read the previous two books then you’ll love Princess Danielle’s story as much as I did. Dani is the least like a Princess that you’ll read and Luke is probably the most honorable or heroic smuggler you’ll find. This book had very well developed characters so you really understood why they made the decisions they made, plenty of romance, a little adventure and best of all a hero and heroine that actually talked to each other. There was some hesitation to disclose early on but it felt natural and real to provide just the right amount of angst. I’m a little said to say goodbye to this royal family but it’s completion had all the feels.

I liked this story of secret identities, rescue, danger, peril, and love. It was sweet to see the long-awaited reunion between the trio of siblings. The romantic/steamy scenes were delightful as well! I am a sucker for a reformed criminal/dangerous man, and this delivered that for sure :)

I loved this book, Dani and Luke were hilarious characters to read. This book read like an old Barbie movie ie. Barbie and the magic of Pegasus🧑🍳💋
I love love loooooveeeed the dynamic between the two of the main characters, and Luke Bannok’s genuine affection for the princess Dani. The way his inner monologue didn’t match up with his actions, it can be annoying, but I feel like in this case it was executed perfectly, chefs kiss. There was some spice, but it’s definitely a slower burn ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥/5 The way they kiss… biblical level need, the nightmare scene…. my new favorite I’ll never forget it, the letters… kill me now I need them. The writing is AMAZING, there are some scenes where I feel like I’m dissociating along with the characters, like it all feels like a blur, I’m a big fan.
I don’t know I really enjoyed this book!!! it was very easy to binge. I didn’t read the previous 2 books in the series, but there are definitely fun moments where we are introduced to characters from earlier books, which makes it fee seamless enough for this to be a standalone book. I’m sure if you’ve been reading the series from the get go, you’ll be excited to see them too! I’m going to have to go back and start the series from the beginning, these characters have charmed me.
If you like this series, I would recommend The Lost Heirs series by Candace Camp, it’s a similar premise of three long lost siblings who find love - and eventually find each other… those books were also revolutionary to me 😂
Overall 4.5/5!

I love a good class-difference romance and loved how the heroine was a princess but also felt relatable, and the writing was lush and romantic.

This is a third book in a series. I didn't know that when I picked this one up to read. I didn't mind that I hadn't read the other books in the series. Yet, I do think it would be good to read these books in order.
This book is a fictional story based in real history. I really enjoyed that aspect of the book. I thought it was very well done.
I enjoyed our two main characters: Danielle and Luke. I really enjoyed there banter. I thought though we needed more interaction between our two main characters. There is a lot that Danielle doesn't know through a large chunk of this book. Her feelings just felt rushed to me. It is very close to insta-love story. I don't mind insta-love when it makes sense for the character, but this just didn't feel like she should feel the way she does so fast.
I also didn't love how some of the internal conflicts that Luke and Danielle are dealing with are rehashed over and over without any progress to a resolution. I understand why Luke feels the way he does, but it just felt very repetitive without much payoff.
I really enjoyed the overall story of this book, but the pacing was slow at times and rushed at other times.

Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. This was a new author to me so I came into this with no expectations.Danielle grew up not knowing about her background. Luke had saved one of his friend from drowning. Luke asks for something to get back at someone who took someone he cared about that saved his life when he was younger. He plans to use Danielle to get this person back from the kidnapper

this was better than i expected, i havent really read a lot of historical romance but im glad this was a good one for me. i will definitely continue to read more from this author in the future because also SWOON. some of the scenes, even them just kissing? HOLY HOT. they devoured each other and it was hot and intense considering all it was was KISSING, but boy did i DEVOUR that.
i felt like some of the politics may have been slightly unnecessary, but didnt hinder the story either. the characters were great and now i definitely feel like i need to go back to read books 1 & 2 considering this was the ending note to this series. Overall, it was a good read and i enjoyed the romance and the plot more than i expected and will definitely read more from this author in the future.

this was the first book I've read by Charis Michaels. I did not even realize it was the third book in the series. Despite that, this was a fun read with history woven throughout. Dani and Luke are complex characters both figuring out where their place in the world actually is. There are lies, hidden identities and a need for revenge in-between pining and delightful moments.

I thought this was an enjoyable read, the description was accurate and I thought it was a interesting take on a 'getting the princess' story. I was able to read this in two sittings and it was an easy read. I loved the aspect of the smuggler getting the princess and thought it was a fun fairytale vibe and kicking your feet giggling moments.
I haven't read the others in the series and didn't think it was necessary to enjoy it. However, I will be looking into adding the others to my TBR and reading because I did overall enjoy this one! I'm curious how the others are and the author's upcoming future work(s).
It was everything I was looking for historical, royal romance, and steamy moments.
I also thought the cover was good, nothing to crazy so I wouldn't be nervous carrying it around outside too.

Thank you, Net Galley, for this ARC. This was a sweet historical romance that tells the love story of Danielle and Luke. Danielle has been raised thinking that she is just an everyday ordinary girl. This all changes when Luke shows up telling her that she has been promised to marry him. Luke is a captain and smuggler who is trying to rescue his adoptive father, Linus, who has been taken captive. Luke feels marrying Danielle will be the solution to getting his father back. Over the course of the book, we see Danielle and Luke get to know each other and slowly fall in love. Luke also tells Danielle how she is princess but doesn't give her all the information of why this is important to him. The story has some fun side characters. I also enjoyed seeing Danielle meet her family and have interactions with them. Overall, I think that the story was a solid romance and very sweet. My one critique would be the pacing. There wasn't a lot of action as the story had a lot of day-to-day interactions and conversation between Danielle and Luke which made the story feel slow paced and drawn out at times. I think if some of this had been edited out, the story would have read faster.

I enjoyed this book, it was nice solid read but it didn’t really stand out to me or feel like something I’ll remember or think about so for that 4 stars.

This third book in the Hidden Royals series is a captivating historical romance. it was full of drama, hidden identities, secrets, many intense plot twists, and emotional issues. I enjoyed this delightful, adventurous love story that had flawed yet charming characters, with a very engaging story. I also really liked its exploration of identity, family, and loyalty. I'm sad this series has now concluded, but I'm happy it had a satisfying ending. I highly recommend reading!

Charis Michaels can do no wrong when it comes to historical romance. Her style of writing always welcomes me into the world she has created, and it always brings me such joy.
This is book 3 of a series, but can absolutely be read as a standalone. Dani and Luke make a dashing couple. I loved our MMC Luke, the pirate/smuggler. With a unique backstory, this was an immensely enjoyable read.
Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager, and Netgalley for the ARC of this novel. All opinions are my own.
