Drew Reynolds is a recently remarried widow who has found true love 4 years after the tragic death of her high school sweetheart. After both suffering a horrible loss, Mark and Drew bond over both being widowed at a very young age and fall head over heels for each other. What could possibly go wrong?
Not one time during this book could I predict what was going to happen. As soon as you think you know which direction this book is going, it makes a hard left and takes you on a roller coaster ride. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of unpredictable plot lines and suspenseful psychological whirlwinds. It will not disappoint.

I loved everything about this book. The new marriage by L.G. Davis was pure domestic suspense at its finest. Secrets, lies, and family drama, this one has it all and then some. I couldn't stop thinking about the plot as I was carrying on with my day. I could not wait to come back to it in the evening. Page after page of tension filled family drama but also a grappling of inner conscience and doing the right thing.

Drew and Mark have been married for a few short years and appear to be happy. However, Mark's sister Sarah is outraged at their union. Mark's first wife Melody was Sarah's best friend and died tragically. There's something about Drew that doesn't sit right with her and she vows to dig deep and uncover whatever secrets Drew is hiding.

The chapters moved quickly and were told through several perspectives. It's told mostly in the present, with a few chapters of the past scattered throughout. The surprises kept coming, each one twistier than the last. The ending was "chef's kiss"

This psychological thriller delves into the complexities of relationships. Marc and Drew, marriage begins unfolding, secrets and hidden truths begin to arise, leading to a series of unexpected & gripping twists. Wish it ended better with the epilogue, though, but good read!

First of all shout out to Netgalley and Bookouture for allowing me to read this before the release date.

This book starts off with a bang and keeps you turning the page. Drew wins the lottery so now I’m invested in what’s going to happen with the money and then you find out she’s married to Mark whose wife died a couple years ago. Now you’re thinking hmmm how does this connect? Well you’ll find out but I feel as if it takes to long to get there and there’s a lot of fluff in between. However, there is a shock factor in the middle that I did not see coming. I did however guess the ending.

If you need a quick domestic thriller this is the book for you! If you like a more thought out in depth read, skip it.

This book was fast paced and had me wanting to know what all the secrets were and what would happen. However, so much was making me mad- why the main character didn’t take some simple precautions like changing the locks on her house etc. the whole book banked on everyone being stupid and careless

A fun and twisty thriller that keeps you on your toes! There were plenty of jaw-dropping moments, though some had me questioning things. Unfortunately, I just couldn’t connect with Drew, Sarah, or Mark. I found them all a bit annoying, which made it hard to feel strongly about the negative things that happened to them. That said, the ending had me shook!

ARC Review: The New Marriage by L.G. Davis

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

L.G. Davis has once again crafted a psychological thriller that grips readers from the very first page and refuses to let go until the final, jaw-dropping twist. The New Marriage is a chilling, addictive read packed with deception, secrets, and shocking revelations that will leave you breathless.

From the outset, we are introduced to Drew and Mark, a couple seemingly given a second chance at love after devastating losses. But beneath the surface, both are harboring dark secrets. Drew, whose very identity is a fabrication, lives in constant fear of her past being uncovered. Meanwhile, Mark, still haunted by the suspicious circumstances surrounding his first wife’s death, begins to realize his new wife isn’t who she claims to be. The dual perspectives of Drew and Mark add layers of intrigue and psychological depth, making it impossible to discern who—if anyone—can truly be trusted.

L.G. Davis masterfully weaves a narrative full of tension, expertly pacing each revelation to keep the reader on edge. Just when you think you have the story figured out, another shocking twist emerges, flipping everything on its head. The characters are complex and flawed, making their unraveling all the more compelling. The uncertainty surrounding their motives keeps the suspense high, with every page laced with the possibility of danger.

One of the most impressive aspects of The New Marriage is its ability to balance psychological tension with emotional depth. Drew’s internal conflict, Mark’s suspicions, and the unraveling of their fragile trust make for an emotionally charged read that goes beyond the typical thriller formula. The atmospheric writing and intricate plotting ensure that every clue and revelation serves a purpose, making the final act all the more satisfying—and utterly shocking.

Fans of domestic thrillers like Gone Girl and The Wife Between Us will be enthralled by this addictive, fast-paced novel. If you love books that keep you up all night, turning pages in a frenzy, The New Marriage is an absolute must-read. L.G. Davis has delivered another masterpiece that will leave readers reeling long after the final page.

I loved this book. I thought I had the ending all figured out and knew who did what until right at the end where the truth came out and I did not expect any of those twists. It will definitely be living rent free inside my brain for quite some time.

I don't think I have read anything by this author before and honestly I don't know why. Fast paced full of suspense, short snappy chapters. I read this in one sitting I couldn't put it down

This is my new favourite L.G. Davis book. I was totally blindsided by the twists. Short, intense chapters told from various POVs and alternating between Then and Now keep this fast paced thriller moving. Ohhhh, so many lies! It was a ‘couldn’t stop reading’, one day read for me. I can’t wait for her next book!
Thank You to NetGalley, Bookouture, and L.G. Davis for the opportunity to read and thoroughly enjoy this ARC.

mind-bending psychological thriller that keeps you questioning everything. The story follows [protagonist’s name], whose life spirals out of control after [inciting incident]. As paranoia sets in, reality blurs, and the line between truth and deception vanishes.

𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒈𝒐𝒕 𝒎𝒂𝒓𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒅 𝒂 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓 𝒂𝒈𝒐, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝑰 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍 𝒍𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝒂 𝒄𝒉𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒓𝒚 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒐𝒆𝒔𝒏'𝒕 𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒕𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒓 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒘𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒂 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒕𝒐𝒐 𝒍𝒂𝒕𝒆.

There were a lot of layers to this domestic thriller, which I really enjoyed. I thought the plot was going to be standard and straightforward--it was anything but! Main character Drew is newly married to Mark, who is still grieving his dead wife. Even though he's dedicated to building a life with her, Drew still feels her presence everywhere. To make matters worse, Mark's sister was good friends with her and uses every chance she gets to remind Drew that she's unwelcome.

Then Drew finds herself in a desperate situation--she finds a lottery ticket that ends up being a big winner. But in order to claim the prize, she'll get a lot of public attention, and that's the last thing she wants. The reader is aware that she's hiding something, but to give up almost a million dollars? Her secret must be a big one.

The last 30% or so, everything just became unhinged, and I couldn't read quickly enough. All the lies (and there are SO many) are exposed, and everyone involved reaches a boiling point. The twists were cleverly done, and I will definitely be reading more of this author's work! Thank you so much to Bookouture for this early copy. This title will publish April 29, 2025.

The New Marriage by L.G. Davis is a psychological thriller that grips you from the first page and doesn’t let go until the very last twist. It’s a story built on lies, secrets, and a marriage where nothing is as it seems. Drew and Mark appear to have found solace in each other after their respective losses, but their new marriage is far from perfect. Drew has a past she’s desperate to keep hidden — so much so that even her real name is a secret. Under their bed lies an envelope containing a truth that could destroy everything. But Mark has his own secrets, including what really happened to his first wife. As suspicion grows and hidden motives start to surface, their seemingly perfect marriage spirals into a dangerous game of deception. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing this book, with my honest review below.

The New Marriage dives into a mystery within a mystery within a mystery, and I while that may seem over complicated rest assured, this was as engaging as it was a solid thriller to read.

Drew and her new husband Mark are struggling to make ends meet - sure they have a great marriage, despite constant reminders of Mark’s first wife around the house and his too close for comfort and too rude to Drew sister, but financial troubles are bearing down on the couple. It feels like the lucky break they need when Drew finds a lottery ticket, but this opens up a whole host of issues, starting with Drew being terrified that by claiming the prize her past will catch up with her and her son.

Super twisty, everyone in this book is hiding something and some of those secrets are crazy (just suspend disbelief here), but unlike other stories where getting from A to B is way too far a leap, The New Marriage makes sense in terms of the story. I enjoyed this thriller in a sea of similar concepts that aren’t as well done, so if you’re a vet of the genre I think you’d quite like it, and if you’re new to it, this will have you picking up more thrillers and mysteries.
