From the very first chapter I was asking questions. I love a thriller that can make me question everything! To be honest, if I was Jet, I’d probably do the same exact thing!

I have a special spot in my heart for mysteries that make me question EVERYONE, and this was no exception. Jet and Billy were the sleuth squad I never knew I needed. Jet had her moments and I did find some of the book to become quite repetitive, but the slow burn and all of the twists made up for it (AND THERE WERE SO MANY). The ending also broke my heart a little but we’ll be ok 🥹

Thank you to @netgalley, @randomhouse, and @ballantinebooks for this advanced copy!

Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of Not Quite Dead Yet.

As many reviewers noted, I really enjoyed A Good Girl's Guide to Murder and I'm looking for the same energy and similar vibe whenever I see the author has a new book out.

I did love the premise of Not Quite Dead Yet, but it didn't quite hit the mark for me because of Jet.

I couldn't stand her. The author writes decent YA characters and she's still doing it with Jet.

Jet sounded so young, which wouldn't be so bad if she was 17, not 27.

I had to keep reminding myself how old Jet was because her tone and voice is immature and bratty.

I understand coming from a privileged and dysfunctional family hasn't helped her to grow and emotionally mature but still...jeez.

Jet's medical condition lends real time urgency to the narrative but at the same time there are so many hard to suspend disbelief moments that it detracted from the pacing of the story.

There's no way Jet would have been released from the hospital so soon after brain surgery.

That chase scene with the cops?

All authors have a distinctive writing style and telling a story and I noticed Ms. Jackson tends to pad out action scenes with as much description as possible, making the scenes last longer than necessary like a scene in Bridesmaids.

Instead of amping up the tension and anxiety, it does the opposite. The scene drags on for too long and becomes tedious.

Not only did I not like Jet, I didn't like or sympathize with anyone.

There are plenty of red herrings and little clues dropped here and there.

Some of them are believable, a few I guessed correctly, and some are just...um...okay, I guess so?

I do have to give the author props for making me tear up at the end when Jet's goodbye letters are revealed.

Of course, the one to Reggie made me weepy. Anything that has to do with animals or a dog makes me emotional.

No surprise Reggie was the only character I liked.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book. I enjoyed this book so much! I loved the suspense/murder mystery vibe. I thought I knew a few times what was gonna happen but the end took me by total surprise! It was a great read.

I could NOT put this down, i finished it in a day!

I love all of Holly Jackson's books, so was super excited to see she wrote an Adult novel. Usually, I can see twists coming from a mile away but this one really did have me guessing the entire time - I was thoroughly surprised to find out who the killer was.

In the first chapter I will admit that i did get kind of confused with literally every single character being introduced, and the same character being referred to by different names (Jets mom being called mom vs Deanne sometimes).

Overall, super good! I remain a Holly Jackson stan.

OMG. Do not read this one on a work night. The last 40 percent of this book is total intensity. The thrills and plot twists were top tier. Beyond that I don't believe I've ever read a thriller which had me sobbing . Solid 4.5 Took a full star off for the ending cause it wrecked me. Then gave it back a half star after thinking about it.. Because this is what the greatest books do. They break us and remake us. Thank you to netgalley and the publisher for an excellent read.

Have not read a book by Holly Jackson before, but I know from this one that I will be reading more.

You essentially know how the story will play out, but there were many twists along the way.

This thriller had me feeling all the emotions and I did not want to put it down!

Not Quite Dead Yet was yet another fantasy read from Holly Jackson. Great adult debut for this mystery author.

Wow, just wow! Thank you Holly Jackson for writing such an original plot. I couldn't put the book down, even for one second. I loved and suspected every character in the story and was totally surprised by the snowball of an end. From love to heartbreak and everything in between, this book has all the feels.

I LOVE Holly Jackson, so I was so excited for this book. All I knew going into it was that this would be more of an adult book, rather than her usual YA. Holly Jackson has such an amazing way of writing characters that gets you really attached to them, this was no different. You know from the beginning what will evidently happen at the end, but it didn’t soften the blow whatsoever. I have never had a thriller make me emotional. Wonderfully written and definitely a book that nobody will want to miss.

Review:
Please take my review with a grain of salt, because the book slumping has been SLUMPING!
I love anything Holly Jackson writes, but this one was slow for me. I loved Jet's character. She is funny and witty and had me laughing out loud many times. But, the overall pace of this is just slow and a little longer than it needed to be (in my opinion). I felt like it was dragging on and by the end I honestly just wanted it to be over. Yes, I did love Jet and Billy's characters which is why I am rating it 3 stars. But, other than that, I wasn't thrilled, I was honestly just bored. The premise of the story is super unique and I have never read anything like it before. It was honestly just a pacing issue for me which makes me super sad. But, I will still read anything and everything Holly Jackson writes. This book is getting lots of great reviews, so please do yourself a favor and pick this one up and form your own opinion!

Holly Jackson has done it again, and honestly, I didn’t expect anything less. Even before cracking this one open, I knew it was going to be a favorite. She’s been an auto-buy author for me for a while now, and Not Quite Dead Yet just solidified that status all over again.

This book starts with a bang, ends with a bang, and packs so much chaos, tension, and action in between that I was completely hooked the entire time. The premise alone grabbed me right away. Our main character knows from the start that she’s going to die, and that urgency bleeds into every chapter. What begins as a mission to track down a killer quickly spirals into something so much bigger and more twisted than I could have predicted.

Jet is the kind of main character I love in Holly Jackson’s books—sharp, obsessive, and willing to go to the ends of the earth (and maybe cross a few moral lines) to get answers. The dynamic between her and Billy was a nice surprise too. He added some warmth and levity that balanced Jet’s intensity perfectly. Other characters? Let’s just say they deserve every bit of the reader’s suspicion. Some of them were terrible in the best way... kind of.

There are so many secrets and layers to unravel here that I know I’ll still be thinking about this one for a while. Holly Jackson never plays it safe with her plots, and this one kept me guessing right up until the final pages.

Thanks to NetGalley and Penguin Random House for the early ARC. I’m so glad I pre-ordered this and my copy arrived on pub day.

Thank you to NetGalley for this E-ARC.

Adding Holly Jackson to my auto buy authors. Once again, they have written a book that is absolutely wild from start to finish! Holly’s books are just so addicting. If I have enough time and I start one of her books I cannot put it down. I need to finish it. I’ll lie in bed, holding one eye open, trying to make it to the last few chapters. This book was no different! So good.

Jet is at a Halloween festival until she realizes she’s bored and heads home. A Horrific thing happens at their house. Someone tries to kill her. She doesn’t die but ends up in the hospital where she finds out she has a pending brain aneurysm and only has a week left to live. Jet decides that the best way to spend her 7 days left is by solving her own murder.

This book is so funny, sad, intense, and a little cute. I loved it so much and will be buying all of Holly Jackson’s books now

I have read all of Holly Jackson's books and have enjoyed all of them and this one was no different! I was hooked until the end and as always, I was shocked by the ending. I look forward to reading more of Holly's books in the future.

I absolutely LOVED this book. I had not read any of Holly Jackson's books outside of the Good Girls Trilogy, and this did not disappoint. The premise was incredibly unique. Have you ever wondered what it would be like to solve your own murder, while you're still alive? Jet finds out when she only has a limited amount of time to find out who has inevitably ended her life. This thriller had me on the edge of my seat, it had me laughing, and it had me crying. There were so many twists and turns, and when the pieces started to come together, I was FLOORED. I would highly recommend this book for anyone looking for an interesting and fun thriller.

4.5 Stars.
If I knew I was going to die in a week. Would I worry about my "killer?"
Jet Mason was unbelievable.
The story itself was the "bizzness"
I don't even know how to collect my thoughts.

The concept of this book is amazing. So much potential and I was really looking forward to it. However, it fell short for me. There was so much that I did enjoy but I feel like 50 pages could have been cut off and I didn’t really care for the killer reveal.

Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for this ARC opportunity. This is an honest and voluntary review.

I can confidently say that Holly Jackson is one of my favorite mystery/thriller authors! Her plot twists always get me, and I never want to put the book down. This book was no different! I was hooked within a few chapters and had no idea who to trust. At first, I wasn't too sure about Jet as the fmc, but I ended up loving her! Her sense of humor and sarcasm had me laughing out loud on numerous occasions. Billy is the ultimate best friend, and I adored him! Their friendship felt so natural and didn't seem forced at all. I wouldn't say this was a top Holly Jackson book for me, BUT it was still so, so good and I'm gonna be recommending it to everyone! Holly Jackson can do no wrong in my eyes!
