As someone already knee-deep in the cybersecurity world, I wanted to see how it stacked up.
First off, it's pretty clear this book is designed as a solid introduction to the field. If you're just starting out, or you're a student looking to get your head around the basics, this is genuinely a fantastic resource. It covers a really broad range of topics – from cryptography and system security to cybercrime and privacy – and does a great job of making complex stuff understandable. The chapters are well-structured with clear objectives and exercises, which is super helpful for learning the ropes.
Now, from my perspective as a professional, it's definitely foundational. You won't find deep dives into advanced exploits or niche technical details here, and that's by design. However, it actually serves as a really good refresher on core principles or a way to get a holistic view of areas you might not specialize in. Sometimes, when you're focused on one specific area, it's easy to lose sight of the broader landscape, and this book helps connect those dots.
So, if you're new to cybersec, absolutely grab this. If you're a seasoned pro, it's not going to teach you anything groundbreaking, but it could be a handy reference for solidifying fundamentals or getting a clear, well-explained overview of the entire discipline.

Perfect book for anyone getting into it wanting to understand more about Cyber security.
It's easy to read and understand yet thorough, making it more accessible to those without prior knowledge.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this eARC in trade with an Hibbert review.

I hope the experts involved in the writing of this book write more books.
