I love this genre, Family secrets, suspects of murder and loads of drama.
I loved how the story unfolded and it was a well told tale. Jen was a great character and I loved reading about her seeming perfect life.
This is a book that takes you out of your life for a while and lets you look into someones elses, Its a perfect holiday read and I loved it

This pleasantly surprised me! ,and another new author for me i kept picking it back up i couldnt stip reading it. I was on tenterhooks.. A street full of lies and deceipt, will the truth come out in the end? But what is the truth?
Dan,jen and daughter nina move to a priviledged community, wgere everyone knows everyone elses business. Jen has a secret and she will protect her daughter at all costs. Is there a reason they moved ? I didnt expect the ending, i highly recommend

I dont do well with Slow paced psychological thrillers. I was hoping for more, but I felt the story dragged on too long with not much going on with the main plot. There was just too much going on. There are plenty of background characters, but no character development. Storylines were introduced but there was no development or solutions.

Looking for a good mystery? Check out this book "The People Next Door" by Kate Braithwaite. It's one of those books that keeps you guessing . In some ways it felt like I was consuming a delicious meal that I didn't want to finish. I actually did take a lot longer to complete this book than I usually do since I was cherishing each chapter.
I have to admit when I first started reading this book I did not know what to expect. This was a new author for me.
Although she had written many books previously most were historical novels. This book was different for her and on reading the description it definately sounded like something I would enjoy.
It was touted to be a psychological thriller so I was sure that I would not be disappointed and I wasn't at all.
The story revolved around a missing person the older sister of the protagonist and the mystery of what had happened to her 20 years in the past .
In a way it was detective story without any real detectives. This young woman and her aunt were their own sleuths and the way they went about it was so creative and fascinating there were days I had trouble taking breaks in the reading when I had to .
The Author did a great job of bringing all the characters and scenery to life and in exploring their lives as well as connecting them all together.
I thank Netgalley and the publisher Joffe Books for letting me be an ARC reader for this book. I have really enjoyed it and highly recommend it to others looking for a good psychological thriller or mystery book.
I give it 4 stars

I loved the twist! I spent only a few days to finish this book. I highly recommend people to read this book!

This one started off strong for me and I was really interested in it. Somewhere along the way though, it got sloppy and I lost interest. I didn't love the characters, but that's not always a bad thing, sometimes it's good not to love the main character. I just felt the story fell a bit flat and the ending was to be expected. I thought their was a lot of potential with the neighbours storylines but I felt a lot of things that were introduced early on, never got closure. For me there were a lot of questions left unanswered

Three and a half stars rounded up. I picked Kate Braithwaite’s “The People Next Door” because I like domestic thrillers and this one sounded interesting. Jen Silver’s older sister, Lynette, disappeared years ago and was later found dead. Jen’s aunt, Jocelyn, has been convinced Lynette’s high school friends know more about what happened than they’ve said.
When the book begins, Jen has just moved into an affluent neighborhood with her fiancé and her daughter. Her fiancé, Dan, isn’t aware the move was part of a larger plan concocted years ago. As Jen, Dan, and Jen’s daughter, Nina, are welcomed into the neighborhood, Jen and Jocelyn begin gathering more information about what happened to Lynette.
The plot got a little messy for me towards the end. The ending itself was satisfactory, but some of the events that happened before then were a bit too convenient in my opinion.
Overall, I recommend this book. It was a quick read and the pace was good. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for my ARC.

I enjoyed this book. I am typically a fast reader anyway, but I finished this one in one day. Held my attention throughout the whole thing and I really liked the characters. Would definitely recommend this book!

The People Next-Door by Kate Braithwait, when the book begins we meet Jen she has recently moved into a posh exclusive neighborhood with Dr. Dan her boyfriend and daughter Nina and from the start we know she has ulterior motives for being with Dr. Dan and in that neighborhood throughout the book she’s in contact with her “mom“ Jocelyn who tells her to set up scenarios to get the neighbor Natalie and sometimes Doctor Dan hoping for a certain outcome. throughout the book we get to know the neighbors and their own problems. We’re also treated to another point of view from the past with Saul Geneva and Jocelyn where Saul’s daughter Lynette goes missing and soon found dead and due to the families reputation as religious nuts it’s pretty much blown off as a runaway and then a suicide. The only problem is Jocelyn wants to know what happened to 17 year-old Lynette and will stop it nothing to learn the truth.. they say the rain washes everything clean but in this case it will take a thunderstorm and all their secrets come out. let me say I read half of this book and put it away to start another one and went back to it and I am so glad I did there is a reason they say you should read a whole book before judging it and this is a great example of that because the ending of this book really made me like this story a lot! I thought I knew what happened but OMG there was so much more to know. I really enjoyed this thriller and although I love the authors historical books I can honestly say I would read another thriller by her in a heartbeat. So so good and so worth reading.#NetGalley,#JaffieBooks, #TheBlindReviewer, #MyHonestReview,#KateBraithwait, #ThePeopleNext-door,

There's a lot to unpack here. So many twists, lies, mystery. Her relationship might be based on a lie, but wouldn't you do anything to uncover the truth as well?

Thanks to NetGalley and then publisher for my copy of this book.
Jen and Dan and Jen’s daughter move into a new neighbourhood. It’s a fresh start and a chance to be a family. But Jen has a secret, her sister disappeared years ago and one of the last people to see her alive lives in this neighbourhood.
This book is quite a complicated puzzle. I mean that in a good way, in that the story and all the clues to what happened to Lynette are revealed slowly and as a reader I was hooked.
The story jumps from present with Jen to the past with Jocelyn. This helps to slow down the reveal. I enjoyed the mystery and the suspense. The characters were all hiding something and I didn’t know who to trust. Definitely recommend this one.

Jen and Dan have moved to an affluent suburb. Jen's sister disappeared twenty years ago, and Jen knows that someone in this community knows the truth of what happened to her.
This is a slow burn psychological thriller, filled with secrets and lies.
Jen is easily controlled, seeking the truth, and also revenge.
It is dark, twisty and chilling in parts.
3/5 stars from me.

Slow paced psychological thriller. Was hoping for more, but I felt the story dragged on too long with not much going on with the main storyline (what really happened to Lynette?). There are plenty of background characters, but no character development. Storylines were introduced but no closure (where is the neighbors husband? What happened to Sasha, Thomas, and the rest? Did Natalie tell her husband about Jen?). I honestly was more interested in the neighborhood wives’ gossip and their get togethers, and would be intrigued to read about them.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC. This book kept me guessing at all times. Really got surprised with the twists. Enjoyed reading this book. Will recommend it to others.

The People Next Door by Kate Braithwaite follows the actions of Jen Silver, a woman whose sister vanished without a trace twenty years earlier and follows Jen as she tries to unravel the mystery of when happened to her sibling. Jen has recently moved to a new suburban neighborhood under the guise of needing to get out of the city but her she has an ulterior motive—find out what happened to her older sister. Jen isn’t who she says she is, and it seems the people around her have a lot to hide as well, but that won’t stop her mission.
This was an engaging thriller that kept me guessing throughout. Four stars.
I received this advance copy from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review and feedback.

This book was good but on the slow side. It had a lot going on yet not all at the same time. It was a lot of background and character development, so it wasn't slow in a bad way. If you like books packed with action this doesn't really do that all the way through. That said, this book isn't short on the twists and turns!
This book involves an old death, family tragedy, revenge, and so much more. As the story unfolds you get to spend a lot of time with the characters of a certain development. The houses are big and fancy and the residents all seem perfect on the outside but have secrets of their own to contend with.
This book is very well written and pulls you in. You just need to know what's going to happen, how it'll happen, and who is going to/has done what. I really enjoyed this and will definitely read more by this author.

Loved the dual timeline, loved the story and it really hooked me in right from the very start. I can't wait to read more by the author

Jen Silver just moves into an affluent neighborhood with her daughter and boyfriend-but-claimed-as-husband for the sake of being well accepted into the community. She comes to live there with one single purpose, befriending a neighbor named Natalie to gain more info about what really happened to Jen’s sister twenty years ago. She keeps in touch regularly with a mysterious woman called Jocelyn who also poses as Jen’s mother in front of others. Well, maybe I should just stop here before revealing anything close to spoiler.
I love how mysterious the characters are in the early chapters, kinda expecting that the suspense will last until almost the end. The chapters alternate between present time and the past, slowly reveal what truly happens and who does what. Of all the characters introduced, my most favorite is Nina, Jen’s daughter - she is so kind, understanding, and not fussy like others, kinda wish I would be lucky enough to have a daughter like her. I think there are still places where the author can put more twists as audiences in this genre generally expect, especially for the side characters.
I recommend this book to readers looking for cozy whodunnit story.
Special thanks to Joffe Books for providing digital copy of this book for me via NetGalley to review. All opinions are honestly my own! :)

I really thought I was going to like this book but unfortunately I didn’t. I personally struggled to keep up with all the characters and who they were due to too many characters being introduced too quickly and I didn’t like any of them.
The things that I did like was the way Jen searched for answered for what happened to her sister and the way the story was told in past and present of the characters.
Thank you so much to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The pacing of this novel is well-executed, steadily building as the story progresses. The twists & turns, though unpredictable, feel satisfying. The characters are well-developed, each with their own flaws and hidden motivations, making them both relatable and mysterious. As the layers of secrecy are peeled away, the psychological depth of the story becomes more gripping. This is the 1st book I've read by this author (I'm a thriller reader), and I absolutely loved it! I like the ending but wish more was to happen regarding one of the characters in particular. I thoroughly recommend this book!
