I'm so glad that I got an eARC of this through NetGalley - but you can get yours in September!

The short version: if you enjoyed the first, I found this one even better.

The longer version: In this one, we follow Capri as she begins by having one of her tour guests witness what she believes to have been either assault or murder. The characters stay true to who they were in the first of the series - and my biggest hang-up from the first installment does not happen here (using a hacker to get you information quickly and easily). I enjoyed seeing the adventure, the twists were twisting and kept me reading until the end. Did I call who did it? Yes. Was it done in a way I didn't expect? Also yes!

This delivers exactly what you'd expect from a cosy, and I enjoyed every minute of my time with it.

The author's wit, charm, and encyclopedic knowledge of the city’s darker history remain front and center. The plot moves quickly with a blend of humor, romance and sleuthing. Fun, well-developed characters make you invested in this story. I look forward to the next book in this series!

Thanks NetGalley! What a fun premise and ride. Full of information about San Francisco and good mystery. I enjoyed the characters and look forward to future adventures

Despite a cutesy cover, A Tour To Die For is not a cozy mystery, and that’s okay. I was just expecting a cozy mystery. The book is more mystery/thriller. It contains all the things not part of cozy mysteries - swearing, sex and encouraging the main character to get a gun.
That said, it is an entertaining book. The mystery is well crafted. The history of San Francisco is fascinating. The story between Capri and Detective Petito adds the romance to the mystery.
Capri is a determined person. She has built a tour company in San Francisco, has a true crime podcast and is writing a book about her ancestor Overkill Bill. Capri is a midlife sleuth/journalist. It’s nice to read about someone who has a bit of experience in life. It causes the book to come from a different perspective. I didn’t realize this was a second book about Capri; I haven’t read the first book so I had a bit of catch up to do via the references in this book.
I enjoyed A Tour To Die For. I listened to the audiobook and like the narrator. I think as long as you come into the story with the right expectations I think you’ll enjoy it too.
Thanks to Netgalley, St. Martin’s and Macmillan Audio for the chance to read this book.

Although I did not read the first book in the series, I was happy when NetGalley gave me an advanced copy of A Tour to Die for, by Michelle Chouinard. Fans of Murders in the Building and the Stephanie Plum series will enjoy this murder mystery. A murder tour guide stumbles onto another murder in this book. She uses her pod cast and PI skills to help a detective to solve the murder of an artist in the San Fran area of California. The main character is funny and quirky and a fun group of side characters to help her solve the murder.

I believe it would have been helpful to read the first book in the series before reading this, however, I enjoyed it and would recommend it to fans of cozy mysteries.

Thank you, NetGalley and St Martin's for the e-ARC in exchange for a honest review.

Capri is in the middle of one of her San Fran crime-themed walking tours when one of the participants claims to have seen a woman being attacked. But the police arrive and find nothing amiss. Capri starts to sniff around and someone eventually turns up dead. This is a really well crafted mystery with lots of potential suspects and nothing that comes out of left field. It’s interspersed with fun info about San Fran. I really enjoyed it and will definitely be reading this author again. Apparently she has also published under M.M: Chouinard.

3.5 stars for me. I liked the mystery with the abundance of suspects, but found the min-pan details a bit tedious at times. I liked that Capri is an older woman, and her relationship with Petito is sweet. As a former SF resident, I liked having the familiarity of the locations and streets mentioned in these novels- it made it easier to get absorbed in the story.

Thanks to NetGalley and Minotaur for the arc.

At first it took me a second to get into the book but honestly then I just ate it up. There were so many suspects and all somehow made sense so I was right there with Capri trying to figure out who it actually could be and why. The actual ending I didn’t expect because the author had me completely fooled (in a good way). I loved the small romance aspect in it as well, especially the fact that it was “older” people dating and having to handle real life issues that can affect their relationship. I really recommend this book!

SF Tour Gone Wrong

Release Date September 23, 2025

Thank you to Net Galley and Minotaur Books for my free copy of this book.

This book is everything I want in a book. It has a fun mystery, it talks about the history of San Francisco, and it talks about true crime cases that happened there as well. I spent a lot of time visiting San Francisco growing up as I had family that lived in South San Francisco so it is fun to read about places I know about but also learn more about the city.

An aspect I love about this is that the main character is a woman in her 50s who has created this career for herself after a divorce and is doing well. I like the romance as well as it seems fun!

The case is a good one. I thought the twists and turns were well done. The suspects were plentiful but not overdone. Overall this was a fun next book in the series and I can’t wait to see what else Michelle Chouinard has in store for this.

A Tour to Die For is another captivating read in this delightful series.

This book has it all: murder, mystery, suspense, secrets and lies all with characters that you love and some that you love to snarl at.

The city of San Francisco is just as much a character as Capri and Detective Petito. I love the background on the city and I feel like I am actually on one of Capri's tours.

Trouble seems to find Capri and when of her tour members thinks she sees a woman attacked the police investigate to find nobody home.

Something doesnt sit right with Capri and she is soon off investiging much to the chagrin of the police.

Twists and turns with great character development kept those pages turning quickly.

I thoroughly enjoy this series and I cant wait to read what adventure or misadventure Capri takes us on next.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press/Minotaur Books for the privilege of reading and reviewing A Tour to Die For.

Another delightful read! After thoroughly enjoying the first book in the series, I was thrilled to dive into this sequel, and it did not disappoint. The story is just as engaging and addictive as its predecessor.

Capri, our bold and resilient protagonist, continues to lead with strength and charm. She’s joined by her lovable best friend, daughter, and the ever-reliable detective, who together form a dynamic and endearing cast.

While the plot wasn’t quite as intense as the first book, it still captivated me with its clever unfolding and kept me hooked until the end. I highly recommend this sequel to fans of the series and eagerly await the next installment!

I definitely think I enjoyed the first one a little bit more but I am really enjoying this series so far!!!

I had the pleasure of also having the ALC, so I was able to listen to this one as well as read it. I really like the narrator. I enjoyed her in the first book as well!

All in all a fun and easy read! I was really string along the entire time trying to figure out the twist.

I did feel like the pacing was a little slower, especially at the end. It felt a little dragged on for me.

Thank you Minotaur Books and Macmillan Audio!

A successful business and a new developing romantic relationship sounds perfect to our main character Capri Sanzio. That is until one of her tours turns a bit deadly and thankfully this time she is not the person who is being accused of murder. However, is it really murder if a body hasn't been found yet?

A Tour To Die For by Michelle Chouinard is the second book in the series The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco. Capri Sanzio is used to odd questions during her true crime tour. I mean she is after all the granddaughter of a famous serial killer. Not quite something you want to be known for but if it helps business, sure, let's go with that. However one guest on her tour not only is asking too many personal questions, she causes a scene prompting a 911 call for a possible attack she witnessed. Yet when she police do a welfare check, no foul play has been done. Trusting her gut instinct of how rattled her tour guide guest is, Capri decides to pursue more leads to find out was there an attack or not? Trying to follow up on more questions she has, now the witness to it is now missing? Is she being played or does Capri now have two missing people she has to find? This mystery has more questions than she through she first has as she dives deep into it not realizing how close to being a missing person herself.

Michelle Chouinard does a great job writing her characters and keeping the storyline at a good flow so the reader/listener doesn't get distracted or bored of what is going on. I highly recommend this book especially if you like cozy mysteries.

Thank you so much to Netgalley, St Martin's Press and Michelle Chouinard for this ARC. I will definitely be watching out for the next book in the series!

So fun to see where the second book in this series grows! I love a budding relationship with a detective for our protagonist!

A Tour to Die For is everything I want in a cozy mystery: a smart protagonist, a setting that feels like a character in its own right (this book is like a love letter to San Francisco -- flaws and all! I would read it for the history alone), and just the right blend of suspense and charm. From the very first chapter, I was completely hooked, and by the time I turned the last page, I found myself heading straight to Instagram to follow the author and see when I could get my hands on the next in the series. Fingers crossed!

Five big stars -- a sleeper hit for me. I liked a Serial Killers Guide to SF, but I LOVED this one.

Before I get into the review, I just wanted to thank NetGalley for giving me a chance to read A Tour to Die For as an ARC! This book releases September 23, 2025! I must admit I am guilty of judging a book by its cover and then not being able to finish it. I was nervous this would happen here and I am so glad I stuck around towards the end! I can normally read and finish a book in less than a day but this book took me four days to complete and that was only because I felt the first 60 pages were a bit slow but then I read the other 250 pages in a few hours!!! That and rhe fact that was expecting something a little different based on the cover is why I’m giving in 4 stars! I found a new genre to love because of a pink cover 😂 I thought it was overall a good storyline and even though it’s the second book in the series there’s enough call back to the first book that I felt caught up to what’s going on! Overall, I really enjoyed this book once I got through that hump!! #netgalley #arcreader #arcreview #bookstagram

A Tour to Die For - Michelle Chouinard
Pub Date - 9/23/25
Rating - 3/5
Thoughts - Thank you to Netgalley, Michelle Chouinard, and St. Martin's Press/Minotaur Books for this gifted advanced reader copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review. I really enjoyed the first book of this series and was excited to see there was another one in the works for this year. Our main character Capri is back with a whole new murder adventure. While Capri is giving one of her famous tours around San Francisco, a woman in her group sees a woman in a window being suffocated by a pair of black gloves. Capri is then wrapped up in this case as the investigative journalist finding clues to ultimately catch the killer. I honestly had so much fun listening to this! It gave me Finlay Donovan vibes, which is one of my favorite cozy mystery series. The only reason I didn't rate this higher was because I thought the storyline was predictable. Still a really fun listen and will definitely be recommending!

This one was so much more fun and camp than the first one. I think if you like lighthearted mysteries like Finley Donovan or Paloma solves a murder then you will for sure enjoy this as well
