A Tour to Die For starts from the get-go. During a night tour in San Francisco, a guest sees a woman being strangled through an apartment window. Capri Sanzio, the tour guide, calls the police but there is no body and the apartment is empty. They get off with a warning for calling in a false alarm. But Capri can’t let it go and starts to investigate. Sure enough a few days later, Leeya is found strangled - she lived in the apartment where the alleged strangulation occurred.
This book is part of a series but this is my first and I could follow it easily. This is a fun read - Capri is a very engaging heroine. I enjoyed the San Franciscan snippets throughout the book.
I would definitely more of this series.

Like learning about San Francisco and it felt fresh and unique but just couldn’t hold my attention for very long so after 10 or 15 pages I’d get bored so it took forever to finish and I forgot most of what happened because of that

3.5 ⭐️ I enjoyed it, but it’s nothing groundbreaking.
The plot started off exciting, but the pacing slowed down in the middle, and then everything wrapped up pretty quickly at the end. It felt a bit rushed, and I didn’t fully buy into the way things were resolved.
Even though I didn’t read the 1st book, I was still able to follow the story without much trouble. That said I do think I would have connected more to the FMC if I had read it.
Honorable mention to the romance between Capri and Detective Petito 🤭 Their dynamic was fun and added some charm to the story. Honestly that is the main reason I might check out the next book.
All in all a decent cozy mystery if you want something light with a little romance.
Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing an ARC 🤍

3.5 stars. What I have grown to love in this series are the characters. I’ve always like Capri, although she did grate on my nerves a little with all her wishy-washiness in this book. I felt like she had more doubts now that she actually solved a mystery and did a podcast than she did in the last book. Her growing relationship with Detective Pepito was my absolute favorite. Sometimes I wonder how he can stand Capri when she’s butting her nose into places he feels she doesn’t belong, but he’s so good at not letting their professional squabbles affect their personal relationship. Morgan is more developed, but I still felt that the other characters weren’t as well fleshed-out and I would like more interactions with them. Towards the end, it felt like Heather was playing a major role, but I still feel like I don’t really know her or care about her.
I like how the author includes these “mini-tours” and I felt in this book, they were relevant and interesting. Otherwise, Capri’s job as a tour guide still doesn’t make much of a difference in the story itself and I wonder if at some point that aspect will disappear as she focuses more and more on investigating murders. There was hardly any mention of the tours after the first, and it seemed like she had tons of free time to investigate. Surprisingly, she only made a total of two podcast episodes. It seemed like the podcast is just an excuse for her to investigate.
I loved the scene in the excavated ship, but I really thought the murderer was going to be someone else. And the motive seemed a little ridiculous to me. Also, Capri isn’t really solving these murders. It’s more like she ends up being attacked and the murderer reveals himself. There was more to the story, though, which she did figure out.
I hope this series continues. I look forward to more adventures in San Fran.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC of this book. All opinions are my own.

I absolutely adored A serial killers guide to San Francisco so I jumped on this book. It did not disappoint. I missed Capri. I love them nods to the first book. This was such a cute and fun story full of murder and mystery. I didn’t want it to end. All of the stars!! All of them

In A Tour to Die For, Michelle Chouinard returns with Capri Sanzio, a fearless tour guide who leads true crime fans through San Francisco’s dark history of serial killers. Capri’s expertise makes her the perfect guide in a city known for its killer charm and foggy streets, but when a guest reports witnessing an attack during a tour, Capri faces more than just the usual fan obsession.
Despite the police finding no evidence, Capri’s instincts tell her something is wrong. As questions mount about her family’s mysterious past and the “Overkill Bill” murders, Capri’s investigation plunges her into a new murder case. Combining sharp wit, atmospheric settings, and a gripping mystery, A Tour to Die For is a thrilling addition to the San Francisco Mystery series that will keep readers hooked until the last page.

Definitely not my favorite... Felt drawn out and a bit too much happening all at once. It does have good SF history, so if you're a local it will get a nostalgia type feeling.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an electronic copy to read in exchange for an honest review.
Okay this was super fun! I enjoyed the first in this series and this did not disappoint. It was light hearted but still intriguing. I appreciate learning more about the characters from the previous book and how we are set up for another book. This series reminds me of the Finlay Donovan series - a great thing!

This is a perfect murder mystery set in San Francisco featuring Capri Sanzio, who runs her own tour guide company in the city. As she begins to dive back into investigative journalism, as well as podcasting and writing, she becomes entangled in a new case to solve.
I binged the first book - The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco and this one in about 2 days on audio so I could get caught up with the story. I really love the San Francisco setting since I live in the area. Honestly, it is the number one reason I bought the first book and I am so glad that I did. I love the history intertwined throughout and how the author gives little facts about the SF Bay Area and some of the infamous crimes that have taken place. This kept me hooked from the beginning and I did not guess the ending. At this point I am invested in all the characters in the books and how their lives evolve throughout the series and I am really looking forward to reading more about Capri and her family and all the mysteries that she is bound to solve.
The audiobook was really good and I love the fact that Stephanie Németh-Parker is the same as the first book.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press | Minotaur Books for the ARC! Loved it.

Good story, but so long!! This could do with some massive editing. It would be a much much better read if it were tightened up. Feeling like I'm slogging through to get to the end is not a way to enjoy a book.

This is book two in The Serial Killer Guide to San Francisco Mysteries series. It can be read as a standalone but now I need to go back and binge book one. Trust me and add to your TBR now and make sure to snag it when it releases on September 23rd.

This was a fun follow-up read to A Serial KIller Guide to San Francisco. I enjoyed the little romance throughout, and didn't even come close to solving the mystery. I had both the audio ALC and an eARC which let me fly through this book. This is one of those "lighter" kinds of mysteries that I sometimes crave and definitely delivered.
Thank you to the NetGalley and the publisher for an eARC and an ALC in exchange for an honest review.

I didn’t love this sequel as much as the first, but it was still fun and entertaining. I love Capris character and how she is determined to find the answers to the mystery murder. A great continuation from book one!

Capri Sanzio is back and still running her one-of-a-kind serial killer bus tours through San Francisco. Balancing her quirky job, a budding romance, solid friendships, and being a great mom to her daughter, Morgan.
During a routine tour, chaos erupts when a passenger swears she sees a pair of large hands strangling a woman through an apartment window. The police investigate but find the apartment empty. Capri isn’t sure what to believe: was it a hoax, or has a killer already moved the body? When the same woman is later found dead in a dumpster, Capri can’t help but dig into the case herself.
While I found the first book more entertaining and engaging, I really enjoyed the eerie mystery of the woman in the window. That said, some sections dragged, and the ending left me confused and unsatisfied. I’m still not sure I fully grasp what actually happened, which took away from the overall impact.

Capri Sanzio is back in this second book of the series. As the owner of a tour company owner and tour guide specializing in San Francisco's criminal past, she has insight into the dark side of the city. She is also solves murder mysteries. You don't need to read the first book (The Serial Killer's Guide to San Francisco) in order to enjoy and understand the family/friend dynamics in A Tour to Die For. In fact, I think the second book is a bit more engaging than the first. This was light summer reading that was easy to read on vacation and, as someone who lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, it was fun to learn a bit more about the seedy side of SF and recognize some of the locales in both books. If you're planning a trip to SF and you enjoy mysteries, this could be a fun book to complement your visit!
Many thanks to St. Martin Press and NetGalley for the e-arc.

Capri is doing serial killer tours of San Francisco. When one of the patrons on the tour claims to have seen a woman getting attacked. The police are called and just believe it is an individual who wants to be part of a case. However, part of Capri is convinced there's something truthful about what the woman is claiming to have seen so she goes investigating.
I enjoyed the mystery aspect of this book, but Capri as a character drove me kind of nuts. Her family is genuinely worried about her and the response she has to that is to just lash out at them in anger. Almost like she's a preteen and not a full grown adult.
I enjoyed the little hints of history you get through this story as well as some of the side characters. The only thing I really didn't enjoy is Capri. I am intrigued to read the first book in the series because I heard she's not quite so annoying so I will probably give that one a try.

This was a great 2nd book in this series and it starts pretty close to when the first books finishes. I really love Capri coming in to her own with her investigative journalism and writing the book about her first case she solved which was about her family. I really enjoyed the back and forth between Carpi and Detective Petito and how their romance evolved. The mystery was really interesting and I forgot how much I yelled at Capri in the first book because she kept going off on her own to investigate and almost kept getting hurt. All in all a great fast read and the mystery left you guessing until the end.
Thanks to Minotaur Books and Netgalley for the complimentary copy of this book. All opinions in this review are my own.

A true crime tour in the streets of San Francisco transforms into an actual criminal investigation when one of the guests claims to have witnessed an attack nearby. The story unfolds with unexpected twists and turns, exploring the history of San Francisco while a treasure hunt ensues. What begins as a murder investigation evolves into a quest for clues that ultimately lead back to the murderer. It's an unusual but engaging narrative. The cover is very cute and something I would definitely choose to pick up.

Capri spends her time conducting true crime tours around San Francisco, where the lines between reality and lore are blurred. The night one of her tour guests witnesses a crime, the distinction between the two becomes even more pronounced. Capri is not just a tour guide, but the granddaughter of a local serial killer, solver of two murders, and is trying to return to her true passion of Investigative Journalism. Her relationship with a homicide detective makes things ethically murky, while also giving her the inside edge in solving the crime. As she closes in on the murder, the stakes rise out of control, proving that not only is Capri in danger, but also everyone close to her.
This book mixed a murder mystery, a love story, a treasure hunt, and a family drama. I feel this book has a wide reach. I love San Francisco. That was my initial draw to the book. I’m not a fan of true crime, but many of the names mentioned were associated with recent high-profile cases. I enjoyed reading it on Kindle, as it allowed me to look up the historical references easily. The crime was complex, with many close to the woman who might be lying. I did have one issue with continuity toward the end with a phone that reappeared, but I hope that is cleared up in the final copy.
Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced reader copy.

Capri Sanzio is leading one of her tours when one of her guests claims to see a woman being attacked
in one of the nearby apartments. When the police investigate, nothing is found. However, when the
body of the female artist who reside there is discovered later, Capri looks into the artist's family and
friends to determine who is the culprit. The stakes are raised when the tour guest goes missing and is
murdered. Interesting information on the different murder tours offered by Capri.
