This book just wasn’t what I was expecting in general and couldn’t seem to get into the different essays and poems but perhaps someone else might.

I really wanted to like On (Pantry) Stock & (Kitchen) Timers—the title had me hoping for something quirky, insightful, maybe a little meditative. But unfortunately, it just didn’t land for me.

The writing felt disjointed, like it was reaching for depth without quite getting there. There were a few nice moments—small reflections that almost worked—but overall, it read more like a loosely stitched collection of thoughts than a cohesive piece. I kept waiting for it to click, for something to ground the themes or give the work more weight, but it never really came together.

It’s a short read, so not a huge time commitment, but even then, I found myself skimming. Just not quite the fulfilling bite I was hoping for.

I liked some of these pieces,. but they felt very disjointed, and there were no common themes from one piece to the next.

A few pieces felt like fillers and sometimes jarred with the more emotive writing.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this!

Unfortunately, I found this one to be a bit boring and not to my taste. I'm sure it'll suit others more.

This just did nothing for me. Which is why chose not to leave a review on Goodreads at this time, beyond just a star rating. The writing itself was fine, the flow for me was just off, disjointed even. Which made it harder for me to finish, to the point where I considered DNFing the book. This just wasn't the one for me, but I'm sure others will love it.

I enjoyed this read. It felt like I was in the mind of the reader through the short excerpts. Different type of read for me but I definitely enjoyed it.

In this unique collection of poetry musings and short stories, Schneider muses on the everyday and profound aspect of life. And it all starts in the kitchen.

Often the collection is witty and astute, the list formats were particularly enjoyable. I did giggle aloud a few times

When reading, I wanted visuals, and some sections felt a lot like zines but were missing the imagery. Overall, I wished the collection was curated into themes or had more separate sections because it was difficult to parse the point of certain entries.

Advanced copy thanks to #NetGalley
