Sera Swan, once a powerful witch, lost most of her magic resurrecting her great-aunt Jasmine and was subsequently exiled by the Guild. Now, she runs the enchanted and slightly eccentric Batty Hole Inn in Lancashire, surrounded by peculiar guests, a talking fox-turned-cursed witch, and a skeletal rooster.
When a spell that could restore her powers surfaces, Sera is reluctantly joined by Luke Larsen—an icy magical historian—who arrives with his autistic sister seeking refuge.
Together, they must collect unusual ingredients, outsmart Guild interference, and rebuild what was lost, all while a found-family makes the inn feel more like home than ever.
This story much like the prior release from this author was a cozy read, layered found family full of quirky, memorable characters. I really appreciated how she added in layered and meaningful natural representation of the human experience including neurodiversity, mental health, queer relationships, and cultural heritage, and how she didn’t soft pedal the including of these aspects as there was also the portrayal of society’s lack of open arms to those who are different.
Magical, heartfelt, and full of charm, A Witch’s Guide to Magical Innkeeping is a cozy fantasy that wraps readers in warmth while offering emotional depth.

no one does cozy witchy romance with found family and the warmest romance like sangu mandanna!!!!
i've been a fan of her writing since "the very secret society of irregular witches" and i've been eagerly anticipating her new novel and it was incredible! it had everything i love in a paranormal romp: witches, talking foxes (very salem coded from sabrina), a cozy magical cottage, an undead rooster, and the sweetest found family followed by the sweetest romance!
this book felt like a warm hug and i just loved it so much!
i can't wait for more from sangu mandanna!
thank you Berkley romance and netgalley for this galley! it's out everywhere now

Where her previous book was one of my favourites, this one 'only' gets 3 stars for me. I definitely enjoyed it, but I felt like something was missing. That extra spark, that little extra to make me go WOW! And I hate that, as this was such an anticipated release of mine! However, that isn't to say I didn't like it because I absolutely did! And I would die for Luke.

what a delightful book!!! A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping was a balm of a book. I picked it up during a stressful time and it was just exactly what I needed. The characters were so lovable, the plot intriguing, and the true message of the book being poignant. This will be a perfect reread for the fall!

Absolutely adorable and heartwarming! I enjoyed the author's previous book, so I had high hopes for this one. Luckily, it met my expectations with a cozy found family dynamic and a romance with chemistry. The ending wasn't all perfectly wrapped up in a bow, but it ended satisfactorily with a slight bittersweetness. I enjoyed all of the characters, especially the side ones living at the inn. Sera's aunt was just the sweetest, and I loved her ending as well. Overall, this was an extremely enjoyable book that hit the right notes of cozy fantasy for me. Also, had a great narrator on the audiobook!

While this one didn't hit for me like her first book, Sangu has a wonderful way of writing cozy fantasy books that make you just want to sit with a cup of tea and binge. I wish I had read this in the fall, because I think my experience with the book would have been entirely different. I loved all the characters in this book, and how although it felt the same, it also felt very different than The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches.
I can't wait to see what she writes next!

I was eagerly awaiting this companion book and I throughly enjoyed it. The side characters and the inn setting in this book are everything. A perfect fall book to read with a cup of tea and a cozy blanket!

I was so excited when I got approved on Netgalley for this book, I wanted to read this so bad, and I took my TIME reading it.. i've been slowly savoring it for at least a month now, I limited myself to so many pages/chapters a day because i'ts on the shorter side anyway and I didn't want to finish it in a few days!
It was every bit as cozy as i had imagined it being, it was fun and atmospheric, with a little bit of mystery and romance sprinkled in there also! .. is it possible for your favorite character to be a zombie skeleton chicken? ..Reading along as Sera and her friends/family did everything they could to help her get her powers back was the most fun i've had resding a book in a while!
I can't wait to check out the authors other books, to see if they're just as whimsical and comforting as this one

Sweet, charming, atmospheric, and an excellent pick for a cozy fall read.
This is a lot of lovely writing paired with a very low stakes story, and the result is the kind of immersive but non-stressful read that should appeal to cozy readers or to anyone who just wants a book that is undemanding but still of good quality.
The heart of this is in its details, and I loved the setting. Mandanna writes gorgeous and oft-humorous descriptions of the house, its inhabitants, and other quirks of their magical world.
To that end, the magic and the plot points related to it are also well-rendered, vivid but not overly complicated. I mostly liked the characters and their interactions, though the stuff with the kids (Polly especially) threatens to tip over into something overly schlocky. But on the whole it’s a lovable cast in a well-drawn world.

I loved "The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches" and could not wait for another book set in a similar setting. This was definitely worth the wait! I think I enjoyed the characters more than the actual plot of the book. Each character that lived in this weird and magical inn made this book so much fun. I think my favorite characters overall were Posy and Theo, especially the friendship they were able to build.
The only thing I really struggled with was the overall conclusion of the book, feeling as though it was rushed at times. Despite that, I still would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a fun cozy fantasy with lots of heart and weird loveable characters.

This book felt exactly like curling up inside a cozy countryside inn that happens to be magical. Sera Swan is a wonderfully grumpy-but-golden kind of witch, managing an inn full of eccentric guests. The whole thing just hums with warmth, silliness, and unexpected heart. I absolutely loved the found‑family vibe here. The slow-burn romance with broody historian Luke was lush and low-key, full of small moments that felt way more meaningful than flashy gestures. Five stars for cozy magic done just right.

another hit from mandanna! super cozy witchy book great for the fall days. definitely going to recommend

This was my most highly anticipated books of the year and it did not disappoint! It had the same cozy vibes as the first book and the found family aspect was my favorite part. All of the characters living at the Inn made this story so vibrant and wonderful. Sera and Luke had wonderful chemistry but I do feel like the heart of this story was family more than romantic love. I thought the magic was interesting and the conflict with the guild added a good level of tension. I really loved this book!

This is cozy fantasy at its best! I love the way she weaves together mystery, romance, fantasy, and emotion! I love love love this! Thank you so much to the publisher and to NetGalley for the opportunity to read in exchange for a review.

If A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping was a season, it would be autumn. If it was a drink, it would be hot cocoa with whipped cream. If it was a food, it would be a warm scone, fresh from the oven. In other words, A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping is a cozy, warmhearted, charming book that is perfect for readers who like a bit of magic, a bit of romance, a bit of found family, and a whole lot of a great story. I will definitely keep my eyes out for the next Sangu Mandanna book!

Love this heartwarming tale of found family and of learning to accept oneself wholeheartedly. This book has such depth and heart, it's a must read for anyone wanting to be soothed, comforted, and inspired.

This was one of my most anticipated reads this year and I was not disappointed. A slow burn second chances and found family tale that left me wanting more. I was sad it was done, but happy with how it ended if that makes sense. I won't say this is a cozy fantasy, but it's a cute fantasy with some spice.

Sera, one of the most talented witches of her time, has lost most of her powers resurrecting her great-aunt. There is a possibility that she might be able to restore her power, but she has been effectively banned for all magical knowledge and anyone who might be able to help her by her evil rival. As a result, she lives with her aunt, an (accidentally) restored rooster, and an assortment of interesting characters in her enchanted inn which 'calls' to people who need it. Enter Luke and his young autistic sister. Both are magical, but the sister is a bit of an outcast because she does not understand the need to control her magic. They just might be the key to restoring Sera's magical abilities.

A Witch's Guide to Magical Innkeeping is a delightful balm for the stressed out soul. Within the delightfully whimsical and cozy setting and characters, there was depth to it. A lesson on the importance of believing in yourself, even when circumstances change.

overall I did enjoy this! i think the parts of this book that didn’t mesh with me well were definitely a matter of personal preference.I will say the ending definitely is what knocked it down a star the last 25% for me was feeling so good, like a Disney channel Halloween original movie, but Sera losing her powers didn’t sit well with me. I think her having spent so long without them made her understand that she didn’t NEED them, and so I just felt like any lessons she’d learn from her losing her powers again.. would be repetitive. I also don’t think that I totally understood the magic system, the exit wounds, sera is the phoenix? I was a little lost. I did enjoy the romance but I do wish we got more of it from the beginning it felt like a lot don’t happened off the page that being said the last 25% sera and Luke did have me giggling, kicking my feet!
