Thank you NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review the ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts.
This is a heartwarming, magic realism story about love, family, friendship and self acceptance. Margo’s career as a meteorologist and ten year relationship comes to an end. After many disastrous dates, she doesn’t expect to find love again. But then finds it in the most unexpected person. Margo was such a relatable character and I enjoyed this book so much.

Oh, this book was such a great read. I love a good time travel twist, and this one felt fresh and thoughtful. Margot Wayward is falling apart after the end of a long relationship, and her life is in complete disarray. She is avoiding work, going on disastrous dates, and pretending everything is fine. Then she starts getting clear glimpses of her future. Specific moments begin playing out exactly as she saw them, no matter what she does.
One of those moments is meeting Henry, a single dad she has never seen before. And then suddenly he is right in front of her. From there, Margot has to figure out how to live in the present when she already knows what is coming. The story explores what it means to love, to move forward, and to accept the things we cannot control.
I really connected with the characters and appreciated the way the book balanced humor and emotion. The relationship between Margot and her grandfather stood out the most to me. It added so much heart and depth to the story without feeling overly sentimental.
I also listened to parts of this on audio, and the narration was excellent. It matched the tone perfectly and made the experience even more engaging. I struggled a bit to connect with this author’s debut, but this book completely surprised me in the best way and I can't wait to read what she comes up with next.
This would be a great pick for readers who enjoy character-driven stories with a touch of magic and emotional depth. It reminded me of the kind of storytelling you find in books by Emma Straub, Rebecca Serle, and Kate Spencer.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

Thanks for the review copy. This book made me miss my grandpa. I liked her visions. I think this would make a great movie.

I LOVED Cassandra in Reverse so I was so excited to pick up Holly Smale’s latest and it did not disappoint! Whenever I wasn’t reading this, I wished that I was. This novel brings up lots of interesting questions about destiny and how much of a role free will plays into things… I absolutely adored this one. It’s only June but I bet this will be one of my top books of 2025!

What a fun premise for a novel! A woman goes on a. eries of dates in the same restaurant. A fun uplifting read.

Margot doesn’t think she will find love again, and the 16 disastrous dates she’s been on are proving her right. When she starts to have visions of a beautiful life with date number 17, Margot is equal parts intrigued and freaked out. Can she find the courage to try being in a relationship even if she knows how it will end?
This started out really fun for me with the bad dates but I ended up being distracted by Margot’s visions and the frequent switches in timeline. Still, there are many charming moments and I appreciated the consideration of whether we're willing to see something through even if we think we know exactly what will happen.
Thank you to Harlequin and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a copy.

Cute love story that will do well..thank you NetGalley and publisher.

Margot is is down on her luck. When she can start seeing her future and a man in it and then it happens well.... This was an enjoyable well written read following Margot and all the side characters. This is a feel good book that brings a smile to your face and can brighten your day.

Okay, please if you read the summary and think to yourself that this book is corny, read it anyway!! This book was so good!
Margot is our main character and is looking for love. She’s a little neurotic but has good intentions. Okay but Margot also has “visions” of the future. Going into the book I thought this might be kind of hokey but it wasn’t!! I loved following Margot and her friends and Henry and Willow are absolutely lovable.
This is a cute sweet read that was heart warming. I truly enjoyed it.

This is such a good book, don't hesitate to read it.
Margot is struggling. She was dumped at the altar, as her fiancee was sleeping with one of her best friends. She quit her job and moved back to her home town. She's now a bit of an Instagram star doing meteorology videos and doesn't need to work besides that. She hardly ever goes out and has not even unpacked 18 months later. Her best friends finally convinced her to start dating again and she's about to go on Internet date number 17. They are all a disaster. She then meets Henry and starts having visions of her future, with Henry. She thinks she's going crazy and not sure she wants what she sees. Even though you know how this will end, you should read this book.

I could not out this down. Loved all the characters - especially Henry and Winter! Really well written.

You know how every once in a while, you read a book that you're dying to finish but you also never want it to end...and you're not ready to move on to new characters in a new book, because you still want to be immersed in the world of the current one? I Know How This Ends was one of those special books for me, and to be honest, I was completely taken by surprise. I wasn't quite sure what to expect with the storyline...how deep into fantasy/science fiction would this whole concept of seeing the future and knowing how things end go? Because those types of books are not what I usually choose to read. But Smale handled it perfectly. I was completely immersed in Margot's world and wrapped up in her visions, which did not seem even remotely sci-fi. I loved all of the characters and their respective quirks. It's not often that I refer to something as heartwarming, but I Know How This Ends literally made me feel all warm and mushy on the inside. It's such a special read!

Oh my goodness but this was SUCH a lovely story! I loved everything about it from the quirky characters to the clever but heartfelt banter to the cringe-inducing mistakes made again and again as poor Margot tried so desperately to protect her heart... I loved the construct of skipping forward for glimpses of the future and the way the fate/free will discussion kept arising and being discussed by the characters felt thoughtful and real and very relatable.
The interpersonal relationships were absolutely the key to this one for me, and I just loved watching them develop, falter, and even themselves out. My particular favorite was her relationship with her grandfather, which made my heart hurt in the very best possible way. The friendships were managed in a way that was wholly relatable and felt genuine in all their ups and downs. Margot's misunderstandings and conclusion-jumping made her so real - even when they were infuriating and I wanted to yell at her to calm down and let things play out.
This was a lovely, laugh-out-loud AND cry-out-loud, story and I was so sad when it ended, even though I loved the ending! I will definitely be looking for more from Holly Smale...

Fun but also thought-provoking, I thoroughly enjoyed I KNOW HOW THIS ENDS. Is the future better left in the future? Would you want to know your own future? How would it change things if you did? Margot is a bit of a mess, I'm not going to lie. But she is quirky and endearing in her own way; you just need to be patient with her. I loved her grandfather. The plot clicks along at a nice pace, and the ending is supremely satisfying.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an advance e-galley; all opinions in my review are 100% my own.

Margot is a meteorologist. She has just moved back to Bristol and is in the midst of an experiment to go on Tinder dates each Monday — the goal is 20 dates—- just so she could say she tried. But she is a master at finding the red flag. Our novel starts as she is on number 16.
But it’s number 17 that changes everything. At a low point in her life, Margot left her job out of spite as she had a terrible break up that was embarrassing and would crushing. She has started an instagram account as Margo the meteorologist and finding some success as she shares her excitement about the weather. It’s a niche!
Margot begins to have visions of her life in the future, just a few
Minutes at a time when she seemingly drops into her
Future life. She can see clues of what will happen, then makes changes based on what she knows will occur.
This is a time tested theme—- if you could see the future, would you? Would you want to know the end of the story without the context? There are times we think we know better, but sometimes the future path is better left in the future.
Clever plotting and quick readability- this book is heartwarming and intriguing. The plot makes the reader want to just keep turning the pages. Mostly I felt pity for Margot, although I was hoping she would find success and happiness. She didn’t deal well with her breakup or the betrayal she felt, but over the course of the book we learn more and more about her life. Her grandad was the BEST character, and Winter, a 6 year old, was written very well, with realistic attitude and dialogue for a kid of that age.
Read if you like magical realism, books set in the UK, thought-provoking sad girl stories.
Thanks to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade for the ARC. Book to be published August 11, 2025.

A wonderful read!
This novel drew me in from the very first page and kept me hooked until the end. The characters were vibrant and relatable, the writing was engaging, and the story had just the right balance of heart and humor. Highly recommend!
Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

4.5 ⭐️
I really enjoyed this book. It’s a quick read, packed with interesting characters and unexpected twists that kept me engaged from start to finish.
Margot is at a low point in her life when she starts having visions of her future self. She doesn’t know what they mean or why they’re happening, but they turn out to be exactly what she needs to start moving forward.
For the reader, following along on Margot’s journey is a gentle reminder to trust yourself and live in the present. The underlying message that things will work out as they should resonated deeply. It’s the kind of book that leaves you feeling hopeful and inspired.
Thank you to NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for providing me with an advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

When meteorologist Margot's life goes up in flames the last thing she expects is to find love, especially not in the form of the older single dad widower who has served her meals on the last 16 of her disastrous first dates.
Enter Henry, a charming, irresistible guy who just might be the key to Margot's future happiness and how does she know that? Because she keeps getting glimpses into the future and every one has Henry in it! If you are a fan of books with interesting time twist plots you are going to gobble this up!
It is such a heartwarming story about family, friendship, forgiveness, starting over and moving on when grief seems overwhelming. It was an ENORMOUS hug in book form and is sure to be a favorite of mine for the year if not decades!
HIGHLY recommended, especially for fans of books like Oona out of order by Margarita Montimore. Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital copy in exchange for my honest review! Cassandra in reverse was a top read of mine and I know how this ends is right up there - I don't think I could choose a favorite between them if I tried.
CW: side character with endometriosis, miscarriage, infertility

This was a fun and quick read with excellent characters and a range of emotions! I loved the message of everything is happening the way it should, just have a bit of faith.

Such a fun and romantic book that consumed me. It held my attention, and I loved Smale's characters. They were well-developed, and the story built around them was outstanding. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
