not much to say about this one, but i was def pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed it! i think i’m just becoming a second chance girlie bc 🤭

i loved that quinn was so relatable especially. she had her cringey moments where i was just like... can we not, but like also... relatable. and nate was YEARNINGGGGG we love to see it. i love a man that’s this down bad for his woman. absolutely YES.

this author’s writing was also superrr easy to binge and made the pages fly by. i finished this on a plane and was just so shocked that it was already over bc like wdym ??? it felt like i was reading for two seconds then bam it’s over, but like in the best way possible. bonus points for a gorgeous cover too 🥰

thank you to netgalley & the publisher for an arc! all opinions are my own <3

Holy cow, this book is so good! I loved Jamie Harrow’s debut, One on One, so I knew I’d be reading this one. But what I didn’t expect was to love it this much! Quinn goes through quite the self-discovery journey, and I could feel her exhaustion, feel her anxiety, feel her red and green emotions. The writing really is that good. Thanks to Dutton for the ARC.

This was a fine, harmless romance read. I'm not a big fan of road trips or second chance, but the tropes weren't too overdone here. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC for my honest review.

This fun frenemies-to-lovers romance follows spin instructor Quinn and her old friend Nate. In the past Quinn has feelings for Nate but it did not work out. Flash forward, Quinn is going through a public breakup and takes off on a cross-country road trip to find herself. Nate asks to tag along, and Quinn agrees. They jump from party to party on their way to a mutual friend's party at the other end. This story had banter but I felt a lack of romance between Quinn and Nate. I was hoping for more from Nate's side. Quinn's growth throughout the story was great and I loved her personal development.

Quinn and Nate used to be friends, and while Quinn hoped for more, things didn't work out. Years after their estrangement, Quinn and Nate take a cross-country road trip to their mutual friend's birthday, and Quinn finally begins to find herself.

Overall I liked Quinn's journey in accepting herself and standing up to her mother, but I found the romance somewhat lacking. Second chance romance is one of my favorite tropes, but Nate was kind of a downer and I found myself not rooting for them to be together. I think you can have a love interest who is reserved and struggling with internal issues without having them be so sad and serious. It might have helped to have chapters from Nate's POV to help with this. I didn't see much chemistry between them. It felt like Quinn was way more into Nate than he was into her. He said he wanted to be with her, but I didn't feel that from the text.

I also liked Quinn's storyline with her job and how it related to her mom's MLM scheme. I think that was well done and realistic. Quinn's friends were also great. They were distinct and I thought each person had the own "thing" with Quinn, and that gave Quinn more dimension as a character. I do think that the road trip was a little longer than it needed to be, but that doesn't take away from the story.

This is a fun road trip romance that I think most readers will love.

Fun at Parties by Jamie Harrow was such a fun read!!

Quinn was just a wonderful FMC with some cringy moments I’m sure we can all relate to!!😅
Nate was the typical stubborn friend just as much as Quinn. ; but I loved seeing their journey across the country become a journey through their feelings at the same time!

This was a great romance read that I think everyone could enjoy!
Thank you NetGallery & Publishers for an ARC Copy of Fun at Parties!

OMG! Once I started "Fun at Parties" by Jamie Harrow and couldn't put it down until I finished it.

Quinn's journey from spin instructor to road-trip adventurer or FBI Agent honestly, is so fun. Her awkward moments with Nate had me cringing and laughing at the same time, we have definitely all been there. These two stubborn friends to lovers (although they could not time it right) drove across the country chasing their friend, parties, and ultimately figuring out their feelings for each other.

Jamie Harrow nails that sweet spot between fun romance and authentic, real emotions. The family drama never felt too heavy, and the chemistry between Quinn and Nate? FIRE. I loved loved loved the game they would play throughout their journey where she would have to complain or he would have to talk himself up. They were so supportive of each other and really complemented each others flaws. This is the kind of book that you keep thinking about and recommending to your friends until they read it so you can yap about it over coffee for hours!

If you're into road trips, second chances, or just need a good book to make you smile, grab this one. It's the perfect companion for your next weekend escape.

Thank you to NetGalley and Penguin Group Dutton for providing this book, with my honest review below.

Fun at Parties is an absolute ride, taking the reader across the country in a whirlwind of yes, parties, but also romance and self development. An instructor in a spin on a peloton like company (see? Punny) we have Quinn who just got dumped and drew what she thinks is the wrong kind of attention to it in one of her online classes. When her boss tells her to take a vacation to create some distance Quinn sees it as the perfect opportunity to drive across the country and see her best friend, who she’s not been as close with, at her party on the Jersey Shore.

Quinn has some baggage to wide through from the reason she is working at the company (which seems to be distancing itself from those things that align with her passions) to the passenger in her car who was a maybe love interest to why she’s not as close with her friend group. This is all done in a light way thanks to the humor in the crazy situations that pop up as Quinn chances down another friend across random parties. The romance is a big part of the story but it rightfully feels like it is a foil to Quinn learning about herself and why she’s been in a funk over the past few years.

Fun at Parties is hilarious and emotional, hitting the right balance making it a really fun but not mindless read.

Thanks to Dutton Books for the ARC of this book! My goodness, I loved this one so much! I was really excited when this one hit my email, because I loved One on One. This book was the perfect Second Chance romance and with the road trip thrown in, it was a whole bunch of fun as well! If you like authors like Abby Jimenez, Jessica Joyce and Emily Henry, I think that you would really enjoy Jamie Harrow's writing style. She really blends the fun rom com with some depth and emotion so well. Both characters in this book felt real and relatable and the struggles they faced in their relationship were believable. This was an easy five stars for me and I can't wait for her next book! See below for a brief synopsis.

Quinn is a spin instructor for a popular streaming spin company (think Peloton) called CycleLove. She moved to LA from the East Coast when she was offered the job and she is fresh off of a breakup from one of her fellow instructors. She has lived in LA for many years but hasn't made that many meaningful connections. When her company sends her on a vacation, she decides to road trip to her best friend's thirtieth party. What she doesn't bank on is the fact that her longtime crush, Nate, who is also friends with her best friend. will ask if he can join her until she reaches Lake Tahoe so he can meet up with their mutual friend Logan to discuss something important. They had a "will they or won't they" type of relationship that never really landed and they haven't really spoken in a few years. When they get to Tahoe, Logan ends up leaving unexpectedly and Quinn and Nate follow him across the country and hit various parties on their hunt. Their connection is undeniable of course and they connect and realize that maybe they are meant for each other despite the obstacle in their way.

A deep romance more about a woman finding herself and healing from her past with a side of love. I really enjoyed Quinn's emotional journey.

Thanks to the publisher for the eARC in exchange for my review.

What a fun read! This book has a little bit of everything: complicated family dynamics, a cross country road trip, and a romance years in the making. I enjoyed the unique characters and backstories, like the (humorous yet also sincere) portrayal of the MLM Quinn’s mom was in. I loved the silly side quests woven throughout and flew through this book, although I wish we had more backstory on Quinn and Nate’s history.

I highly recommend Fun at Parties by Jamie Harrow. Her books keep getting better and better. I enjoyed One on One and loved Fun at Parties. I can't wait to see what she writes next. Quinn and Nate's road trip made for such an adorable story. Fans of Falon Ballard will enjoy this book.

Second chance romance AND their on a road trip??? Say no more, I’m there.

Quinn, our FMC, is a spin instructor who just went through being cheated on, a break up and having a mental breakdown during one of her classes. Her boss decides that it’s time for Quinn to take a break, which sends her on this several week road trip. Add in her friend/love interest Nate and things kick off. From cabins in the woods to pool parties to chaotic baby showers, Quinn & Nate are on journeys of self discovery, stepping out of their comfort zones and questioning what it is that brings them fulfillment.

While I enjoyed the banter between Quinn and Nate, it took a little bit for me to get into their “second chance” part of the romance. Nothing is really explained immediately and when it is, it’s a little confusing with the flashbacks being told at the exact same time in the present. I wish they were separate chapters and maybe we saw a little more of a dive into their earlier friendship but some explanation, I was excited to see where their romance was going to.

I’m glad that by the end, Quinn had come to terms with making the decisions she needed to make in order to find happiness in her life. There were moments that I felt frustration with her and her lack of standing up for herself, but I understand that was part of her growth. The ending just left a lot of unanswered questions for me since there was not epilogue. Does she make the move?? What happens with her and her mother?? What about Michelle and the baby? Does Logan end up following through on his goals? I wish there had been something at the end to give us more closure.

Overall, I enjoyed the story! It was cute, funny and had good character growth.

Quinn Ray, a cycling instructor for a popular spin company akin to Peloton, finds that being their cheerful ray of sunshine isn't all it's cracked up to be when her boyfriend cheats on her and she's forced to take leave after lashing out in frustration at the end of a spin class. She takes off on a cross-country trip with Nate, a friend she wishes could be more. Plans go off the rails when they chase a friend from one party to another across the country in an attempt to find him so Nate can talk about a business venture. As they travel, Quinn learns being herself is exactly enough and that she and Nate are meant for each other after all.

3.5⭐️. This is ultimately a story about losing yourself in a problematic job. I loved the road trip aspect of this novel, and the character development throughout was nicely paced. I loved that the main character was a spin instructor!

4! Quinn Ray is an online cyclist instructor who is known for her sunshine-like energy, but after a very public breakup, she desperately needs a break. That’s how she ends up on a cross-country road trip—with her ex-crush in the passenger seat!

Quinn originally planned this trip as a way to reset and get her life back on track. But when Nate hears about it, he asks to join her for one of her stops. As a people pleaser, Quinn agrees, even though she’s not entirely thrilled about it. Somehow, what was supposed to be a solo journey turns into a wild goose chase across the country to track down a friend. On top of that, Quinn is juggling content creation for her job, with her boss constantly breathing down her neck.

This was such a fun read! I love an estranged friends-to-lovers storyline because it always brings that perfect mix of mystery and tension. While I was invested in Nate and Quinn’s relationship, I was even more drawn to Quinn’s personal growth. Even though her trip didn’t go as planned, it still gave her the space to reflect on her choices and actions. Nate was a great listener and incredibly supportive throughout the process. I was really satisfied with how everything wrapped up—both Quinn’s growth and her relationship with Nate felt just right.

I wasn’t a fan of One on One by this author but when I heard the main character was a spin instructor I knew I had to give her new release a try and boy am I glad I did!

When a video goes viral of spin instructor Quinn Ray having a meltdown after a breakup; her boss suggests taking a trip to find herself. So she sets off on a road trip to make it across country in time for her best friends bday party. But what she didn’t account for was her estranged friend and former crush tagging along or all of the epic party hopping that would occur.

There’s nothing better than a road trip story. I love this plot line and the author made this one of the most fun ones yet. It did take me a bit to figure out where this story was going and the messaging it was trying to portray; but once it did I have to give props to the author to how clever she is. I loved the characters, their romance and of course the comedic nature that is this book. While at times a little immature when it came to their communication and reason for their estrangement, overall it’s a fun easy read i recommend

Online cycling instructor Quinn is supposed to be the ray of sunshine. That's what everyone expects. After a bad breakup, she can't seem to keep the ray of sunshine persona up anymore. When she goes on a rant in the middle of a class that turns into a viral moment, she is sent on leave. Quinn takes the opportunity for a break and decides to embarks on a cross-country road trip to visit her best friend.

Quinn's former friend Nate hears that she's going on a road trip, and he asks to tag along on the first leg so he can meet up with another member of their friend group. They meet up with this friend, but he disappears the next day. Now, Quinn and Nate find themselves following the whims of their flighty friend as he appears at all sorts of parties across the US.

Facing pressure from work, newfound fame, and close quarters with the former friend she once confessed feelings for, this road trip will be absolutely life-changing for Quinn and Nate.

I highly recommend this book!
