Catch a Falling Star by Laura Carter is a beautifully written, emotionally charged romance that captures the magic of unexpected love and personal growth. From the very beginning, I was drawn into the characters’ journeys, and Carter’s storytelling kept me engaged until the very last page.

The chemistry between the leads is undeniable, developing naturally over time with just the right amount of tension, banter, and heartfelt moments. Carter does a fantastic job of creating characters who feel real—imperfect, complex, and easy to root for. Their emotional struggles and personal arcs add depth to the romance, making the connection between them all the more satisfying.

What stood out to me most was the setting and atmosphere. Carter brings the world to life in such a vivid way that I felt immersed in every scene. The writing is fluid and engaging, making it easy to lose track of time while reading.

If you love swoon-worthy romance, compelling character development, and a story that lingers in your heart long after you finish, Catch a Falling Star is definitely worth picking up.

This was a book that had me in my feels. It was funny, smart and witty. I couldn’t stop once I started.

Lyra is someone who dared to not follow in her family footsteps and feels like the black sheep and she should put up with more because she wanted to be a photographer instead of a doctor. Guy was in a band that Lyra adored and they almost met when she got a call at the moment they were going to meet and had to leave. Fast forward to a few years later, both have a meet cute in an elevator where she is going to be a photographer for a hen party and he is now a naked bartender. Have they met before, do they just look familiar to one another for different reasons?

This books take you on the journey of exploring their past, how trauma can play a role in how you are in the present day and that life and love can be messy and wonderful.

Loved this book and so thankful to NetGalley and boldwood books for the arc!

What a five-star read that you must catch. Lyra and Guy will suck you into their story, you will feel the pain that Guy has gone through, feel his pain and guilt at losing his brother, its so powerful that its palpable on the page and off. There are so many amazing moments in this story, so many weddings that you get a glimpse of, as well as a health problem that Lyra’s dad has that was so wonderfully done, it gave you a lump in your throat with how nicely it was done, even in the moments you wanted to shake her mum and dad for the way they are with Lyra. From butler without clothing, to the man you see at the end Guy is on a journey and its so much bigger than he realises he is on. This is a great story, and one that you will need to get your hands on, if you haven’t read them previously they will fast become a firm favourite.

This was such a cute, fun romance read! I love the idea of the missed encounter when they were younger and how much that night meant to both of them in different ways and seeing how they grow and change through the time that has passed since that night. The romance was very sweet and built up well, in my opinion.

I was delighted with this story! I was honestly surprised it was less than 300 (ebook) pages long; the story was well-laid out enough that it was more thorough than others I’ve read with similar page counts.

I very much enjoyed reading about something akin to a “second chance” so many years later, although the “first chance” was kind of a reach, given where our two MCs were in their lives. It was also interesting how the author made “That Night” such a pivotal point for both characters.

I look forward to more books from Laura Carter!

This book started off appealing to my inner watt pad fanfic teenage heart! Lyra has loved The Hand Me Downs forever and has had a huge crush on one of the members, Guy. When unexpected events prevented them from meeting at the concert, they both tried to move on from that night.

Fast forward a few years, and as life would have it, they would cross paths again in the most unbelievable way possible. Throughout the book their lives keep crossing paths, almost if there is this invisible force that wants them to be together. Lyra and Guy grow during the book and realize that to be happy, they need to let go of what’s holding them back. In some ways they are the same person, in others, total opposite.

Although I enjoyed the story line of this book, I found the romance to be too much of a slow burn for me. There seemed like a lot of build up for what you knew was going to happen. I did chuckle a few times while reading and I quite enjoyed that it was set in 2025. Overall the romantic details were a bit lacking for me.

This cute romance story had me feeling happy and smitten while reading it!! Love came back around between these two, which had me feeling all giddy. It is a well written romance book. This love story also had me laughing and feeling cheerful.

Catch a Falling Star is about a girl named Lyra and a boy named Guy. They first met each other when they were both younger and she was watching him in a band on stage. She was at his concert. As time went on, they met each other again. This time, she is a wedding photographer and he is just looking for somewhere to perform. They form a bond and one thing leads to the next in the heartwarming romance! I give this book a 4.25/5 star rating!!

Lyra Clarkson has built a career capturing other people’s perfect moments. She loves her work as a wedding photographer – despite her family’s disapproval – but she’s never quite found her own path.

Guy Walker, former rock star turned wedding singer, has hit a new low. Desperately needing cash, he’s agreed to take any gig his manager can get him, even if this new form of entertainment isn’t just singing.

As Lyra and Guy’s paths cross – in the most bizarre way possible – an unexpected kiss will change everything. But was it simply a chance encounter or is fate bringing them back together?

Now forced into each other’s lives for the entire wedding season, the unlikely pair may just figure out together how to realise both their dreams…

Wow I loved this book. It was just so addictive to read. I loved Lyra and Guys relationship with each other and also friends and family. It was beautifully written that shows scars from the past can be turned into something more and how Lyra and Guy helped each other through that was heartwarming.

The story was about finding love in unexpected circumstances. It’s a perfect read for any romcom lovers, well written and addictive, also a great read for any music lovers. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC, don’t miss this one when it is released in April.

I did not expect to fall in love with this story as much as I did, and I'm quite honestly surprised, because I'm not a fan of second chance romance, as much as I don't like rock star x normie reads, and this is exactly that. Yet, it's so well-executed that I'm impressed.

This book is tender, charming, and everything I didn't know I needed from a romance novel.

The characters behaved very rationally, which I appreciate, and there’s only one moment in all of it which really annoyed me. It was quickly resolved, though, so it didn't taint the rest of it for me. So yeah, 5/5, one of the best books of 2025 for me personally.

Lyra and Guy cross paths during one of his shows before his band makes it big. However, before formally meeting she receives a call something has happened to her dad and rushes out. Years later, after he loses front man and brother to drugs, Guy is barely making it financially and is working at the same wedding venue as Lyra.

Cute second chance romance, although the insecurities of both made some parts drag. My favorite parts were really at the end and when he reconnects with people.

This book was so sweet and so fun. Lyra was a plucky FMC who made brave life choices to be different from her family and Guy was a broody down on his luck rockstar MMC reeling from a tragedy that changed the trajectory of his life. It was a great balance of a slow burn, forced proximity lovestory and a story of self discovery and forgiveness and art. Thank you NetGalley and Boldwood for the ARC.

Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity for this arc!

I recently read Catch a Falling Star and, unfortunately, I struggled to get into the writing. While the premise seemed promising, the execution didn’t quite draw me in as I had hoped.

One of the main issues I had was with the writing style. Whether it was the pacing, dialogue, or overall tone, something about it didn’t fully engage me. I found it difficult to connect with the characters or become invested in their journey. While some readers might appreciate the book’s themes or storyline, it just didn’t work for me.

That said, I can see how Catch a Falling Star might appeal to others who enjoy a particular style of storytelling or a specific genre. It just wasn’t my cup of tea.

A superb romance of how simple your life can change when you meet someone. These two meet at a concert, which was clearly fate. She falls in love with him, not his rockstar image. Absolutely enjoyed this one, 4 stars! Thank you for the ARC opportunity!

Oh wow! What a fab read. Lyra and Guy have my heart! Catch a falling star is a wonderful story about love coming round again even in unexpected circumstances. It’s good book that made me want to learn guitar to rock out at home.

The relationship between Lyra and Guy is so beautifully written, and the relationships between the MCs and their family and friends are what really makes this book special.

Would highly recommend for any romance lover.

Now 7 years later she is working as a wedding photographer and he is a wedding singer at the venue . He lives full of guilt about the death of his young brother and bandmate Scot . His first meet with Lyra was crazy but while they started talking about themselves to each other they both fell for the other . Will he leave all the ghosts in the past so he can a happy and healty life with the woman who loves him ?
