I love the idea behind this book. Even things as simple as a trip to the grocery store can become such a chore we forget to show kindness. This book reminds you that it is ok to slow down and think about others, I love that idea! This book has a great message for young and old alike.
That being said I found the book a little difficult to follow. There doesn’t seem to be a flow to the words and the print is a little small. I think my preschool class would lose interest in this book quickly so the message would be lost on them.
It is probably best suited for six to nine year olds.

Netgalley ARC - This is a sweet picture book with a sweet message, especially applicable to those of us who want to freak out in a grocery store (all of us). Maybe a bit heavy-handed but thats alright.

This simple message is delivered beautifully in this easy to understand picture book. Most books about kindness for kids are either general or school oriented. This book encapsulates a specific experience that most kids have going to the grocery store with a parent. It shows how kids can be kind, and how adults can be kind and how through small gestures kindness spreads.

I felt like this book tended to drone on and didn't capture my attention. I try to read books from a child's perspective and I didn't feel as though this was captivating.

Mother of two here, and we loved Catching Kindness, by Kara Mitchell! Is there anywhere people are more in a rush and cranky than the grocery store?! I loved that Kara wrote “Crankiness is like the common cold. It can spread fast!”… so true! The illustrations, also by Kara Mitchell, were beautiful! My kids and I loved the pictures. The kids loved pointing out all the different areas of the grocery store, and all the different ways the little boy was being kindness. We preach kindness in our family, often, so we were big fans of this book. This was the perfect book for my 8-year-old to read to my 5-year-old, we would definitely recommend this to another family.

Thank you to NetGalley and Magination Press for this eARC!

This is a great, approachable story that would fit right into my pre-k curriculum! The art is sweet and engaging, the text is not too preachy, as some social-emotional picture books can be.

“Catching Kindness” by Kara Mitchell is an engaging book for early childhood lesson on kindness. The illustrations are lovely and the text flows nicely. This book is a valuable addition to any school library or preschool classroom and would serve nicely as a back-to-school read aloud.
Thanks to NetGallery and Magination Press for an advanced copy of this eBook in exchange for my honest review.

Imagine yourself in a crowded store on a hectic day—people are tired, emotions run high, children are screaming, and your balloon just floated away... (the illustrations capture these details beautifully!). But if you pause for a moment and find even a drop of kindness in your heart—for yourself and for others—you might just change the course of the day.
A gentle, thoughtful book with a powerful message.

I feel silly having this opinion on a children's book—but the writing just isn't for me. It was too choppy, making a story that already wasn't very cohesive that much more confusing. I like the idea though, just wish this was a little more polished.

Thank you bunches to Kara Mitchell, NetGalley and the APA for the eARC which I have voluntarily read and reviewed.
