I was invited by the publisher to review this book. Phil is a gamer, and does well in that sphere, but cannot apply that to his personal life. He is joined in his gaming by Amy, his best friend's sister and recently broken hearted - Phil thought having her join him would cheer her up, but instead it has given him a conundrum. Then, someone turns up from Amy's past, and Amy and Phil must fake date - although Phil hopes he can turn that into something more real.

I thought the idea of setting this book within the gaming world and lore was unique and a lot of fun! This was a relationship that you can really root for, the romance was very sweet. This book also had a deeper level, focusing on the very real aspect of dementia and its impact on families and caregivers. Even if you cannot relate to dementia or the gaming world, this book will still be accessible to you and you will fall in love with the sweet pairing of Phil and Amy!

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK/One More Chapter for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I am loving the attention the traditionally "nerdy" subjects are getting! Ren faire is such a fun setting and the characters are a delight.

After loving ‘You’ve Got Chain Mail’, I was so excited to read the next book in the series. Phil and Amy’s story is so sweet and I felt that I really wanted them to find happiness together. It is a fun take on fake dating - I particularly enjoyed their creation of their own ‘lore’.

Phil is a carer for his grandmother who has dementia and I found this aspect of the book to be well handled. The impact of being a carer on both him and his relationships was touching and realistic. Despite the heavy theme, this book retains its glowing core of love and community, even in the face of a devastating illness.

As with ‘You’ve Got Chain Mail’, I did get a bit lost in the D&D chapters, however this did not spoil the book for me at all and I imagine will be a fun bonus for fantasy-loving readers. The costume descriptions are an absolute delight and I am now dreaming of a gown like the one Phil makes for Amy.

A wonderful romance!
