A really cute little intro to punctuation! The illustrations were a lot of fun and it shows the basic concepts to children in a fun and unique way.

What an adorable way to showcase punctuation to little readers! Gorgeous illustrations accompany the tale of punctuation just waiting to be appreciated. What would we do without question mark? Without comma, we wouldn’t know when to take a breath. With bright colourful words and the hilarious antics of punctuation (especially exclamation mark) this is a great introduction to crucial parts of writing and reading!

This was a very fun read, and a great way to help kids solidify the roles of various punctuation marks. I will definitely be recommending this!

This charming little story playfully teaches the importance of punctuation marks and how each one works within a sentence. Presented in a bright, engaging, and wholesome way, it’s sure to capture the attention of young readers. Each punctuation mark is personified—Question loves to ask questions, Comma takes frequent pauses, Exclamation is full of excitement, and so on—making grammar both memorable and fun. I especially enjoyed the nod to old, long-forgotten punctuation marks, which added a delightful extra touch.
I received this e-book ARC of Punctuation to the Rescue by Cheryl Olsten through NetGalley from Fleecydale Press in exchange for an honest review

This one was a little hard for me to follow, and that might have been due to the formatting of the NetGalley Reader. However, I love the premise of this and thought having each sentence read but the ending Punctuation was fun!

Cheryl Olsten has delivered a delightfully fun way to teach about all sorts of punctuation! This picture book, targeted at lower-elementary aged kids, teaches them about basic punctuation such as periods, commas, question marks, and exclamation marks in a way that feels more like a story and less like a lesson at school.
I will say that some of the punctuation types, such as the pilcrow and love point, don't serve much purpose in our lives today (sadly!) and might confuse a few kids.
If you are a primary teacher or a school librarian looking for your next read-aloud, give this book a go!

Punctuation to the Rescue is an adorable picture book that teaches young children the basics of punctuation without being overbearing.
I don't tend to read a lot of children's books, but the premise of this was so interesting that I couldn't resist. The art is vibrant and engaging, and the story is lighthearted and fun. The sentence structure is sometimes hampered by the attempt to show the function/use of the punctuation speaking, but that certainly won't undermine the enjoyment of young children. The only weakness for me was the introduction of the "love mark," which didn't feel totally necessary.
Thanks to Fleecydale Press, Cheryl Olsten and NetGalley for providing a digital review copy of this book in exchange for honest feedback.

Punctuation is such a challenging topic for children to grasp and this book brings them to life with it's story and illustrations.

I loved reading Punctuation to the Rescue. I was first intrigued to read the story because of the adorable illustrations on the cover...and I am glad I did. The story helps to explain the use of punctuation for early elementary while remaining lighthearted and fun. A book like this surely helps kids remember when and how to use a comma, question mark and period...and might even teach the adults a thing or two about punctuation of long ago. Definitely a must have for classrooms.

Not sure if it's my device or the specific file, but none of illustrations appeared! Still, the book has lively writing that will be perfect for writing lessons.

I cannot give this book a proper rating since none of the illustrations show up. The writing is nice however I couldn't see anything.

What a fun way to learn about punctuation. I loved all the personification of different punctuation. The personalities were right on the money! This is a must read for all of the children in my family.
Thank you, Netgalley, for the ARC and the opportunity to review!

Punctuation to the Resue by Cheryl Olsten and Sara Not is awesome! I love how each punctuation character has a personality to match its function. As a teacher, this book will assist me with teaching the purpose of each punctuation mark as well as the importance of using punctuation to clarify communication. Also, the book is fun!
Thank you, Fleecydale Press, for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

The illustrations in this book were phenomenal, and very cute. I can see this really drawing the attention of a primary audience. I can see this servicing as an anchor text in primary classes (k-3) when discussing punctuation. It would have a lot of buy-in with the illustrations, and the humor. The book does a great job of incorporating the uses of periods, commas, and exclamation points without taking away from the story. If you were doing a grade three class, you could challenge the students to think of/propose a creative way that the love point could be used in writing,
The only think I wish is that the sentences that they created had a focus for each of the punctuations.

This book was cute for what it is. It felt quite jumbled to me, but I think young kids (ages 5-6) would enjoy it. The pictures are very well illustrated and very colourful. A cute way to teach punctuation to kids.

What an adorable way to teach children about the importance of proper grammar. So cute and educational.

A super cute story about the punctuation marks who think they’re overused so they take a vacation. This was a fun read along with my kiddo explaining the importance of punctuation.

I initially had trouble accessing the images in this book using the NetGalley reader, but switching to the NetGalley Shelf app solved the problem, so if anyone runs into the same issue, I’d recommend trying that. Once I was able to view it properly, I absolutely loved the charming illustrations and fun storyline. Even as an adult, I’ll admit I sometimes struggle with perfect punctuation, so this was not only adorable but also a great refresher. I think kids will enjoy it just as much as I did!

What a fun book about punctuation! I love how the period only made statements, the question only asked questions, the comma always had commas in its statements, and the exclamation point only made exclamatory remarks. I love that they go on a little vacation thinking they're overused and underappreciated just to learn that they are needed and loved. I loved that the story included the character Pilcrow. I forgot what that even was. Also, I love the Love Point. Thank you to Cheryl Olsten, Fleecydale Press, and NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

As I read this book out loud, a huge smile landed on my face! Author Cheryl Olsten cleverly teaches the rules of punctuation in a fun adventure through both explicit explanations and by having each punctuation mark only ever speak in alignment with their mark. For example, Question Mark only ever asks questions. For the slightly older reader, the book messages the idea that all of us are important even when we are being taken for granted. Every home with elementary children should have a copy of Punctuation to the Rescue!
