The backstory was delicious. I loved learning more about Juniper and Callum. We find out in Scotch on the Rocks that they put up fronts for their loved ones, it was wonderful to see them put down their guards for each other. This book felt more like the current trending format for traditionally published books with the heavy emotional introspection. I do prefer Whisky Business which was lighter, had more smut and had a faster, less traditional pace but I think most people's favorite will be Scotch on the Rocks.

I loved this book! It built on the first in the series, but felt so much more solid and captivating than the first in the series. I cannot wait to see read about the final Macabe brother!

Okay, I really did not know what to expect going into this since I read the first book long enough ago to not remember these characters but wow I enjoyed it even more! Brother's ex fiancée is something I never expected to work but Callum's pining was unmatched. Some say their banter was too much - I disagree, it fit their characters perfectly.
I wish we got a bit more of the backstory between Alistair and Juniper but it did leave me excited to read his story next and I also am dying for Heather's story :)
Thank you to Elliot Fletcher, Harper Voyager, and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was so good! I loved the banter between Juniper and Callum. They are a match made in heaven. Both characters were fleshed out perfectly and there was never a moment I was not rooting for them.
Fletcher did a great job tackling tougher topics such as adoption and parental illness. I cannot wait to read Alistair's book!

Big thanks to NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishing for a copy of *Scotch on the Rocks* in exchange for an honest review.
Alexa, play "You Should Probably Leave" by Chris Stapleton. ❤️
Um, hello! I gobbled this up! Love at first sight, brother's ex fiancé. The banter was spectacular from page one. His nickname for her is Harpy, and I have never loved a nickname so much. When I say this man is pathetic for her, whimpering for her, begging for her.. Good god, the tension was like walking a tightrope. He takes her hiking! [I LOVE HIKING], and he wears a kilt, a fucking KILT, y'all. I was swooning.
Juniper is a prickly character, a total black cat personality. While she is snarky and funny, she's also been hurt a lot and honestly feels kinda insecure. [Relatable] I really enjoyed the way these characters grew together and became better people all around. This was a deep yet incredibly funny love story. 🥰

Ahhhhh I was so excited for this one. I read Whisky Business last year and could not wait to be back in Scotland with the Macabe brothers again.
I absolutely loved Juniper and Callum. The banter, angst and tension between these two was OFF. THE. CHARTS. 👏🏻👏🏻 I’m also not complaining about the April & Mal cameos and poor Mal being trapped in girl talk on multiple occasions. 😂
I also want to take a minute to point out that this book takes place in Scotland. Yes, accents, highland cows make an appearance and we get Callum (and the rest of the Macabe brothers) in kilts. 🫠 Elliot is over here making dreams come true.
🥃 Black cat x golden retriever
🥃 Brothers Ex-fiancé

Juniper Ross has three rules for surviving life on her tiny island:
1. Don't look at a Macabe brother.
2. Don't talk to a Macabe brother.
3. Don't even think about a Macabe brother.
Too bad she breaks every one of them.
Let me start off by saying that I thought the first one good? This one blew me away with how much I loved this one so much more. I cannot wait to see where this series goes because this one was top tier in my book. You know a book is going to be good when the opening not only has the mmc falling completely in love with her the first time he sees her. Buy the next chapter already has one spice🥵🤭 I knew I was going to be in for a ride.
If you haven’t read the first one I definitely recommend reading that one first, it isn’t really necessary but you do have a little more of an idea as to what is going on and the characters that return in this book. We first meet Juniper and Callum in the first book and I was so excited to see this was Junipers story. She is the epitome of being such a bad ass, like I wanna be her when I grow up. She doesn’t care what people think. She wears what she wants to wear and never apologizes for it.
Then we have Callum, town golden boy that can do no wrong and everyone loves. See where I am going with this? I love that it is also dual POV because if I didn’t know how much Callum truly fell for Juniper the moment he met her on the train, wouldn’t have believed you. When I tell you this man fell, he fell HARD. Their was so messy and real to me. Callum knew what he wanted and he was not giving her up for anything.
I honestly could go on and on about how much I loved the book, the banter had me giggling, Junipers viciousness had me cheering her on like I was her best friend. Callum had me absolutely falling in love with a fictional man who tried to be everyone’s hero but had no one in his corner. The sad parts mad me so sad and by the end of the book I was a puddle of tears.
10000000000/5 stars for me
🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
*Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins Publishers for the ARC!*

Callum Macabe is the blueprint! 🥃🖤
Callum Macabe fell in love with his brother's girlfriend right the second he saw her for the first time. He fell harder on the train ride, where she was, unbeknownst to him, already taken. Years after their breakup, they had a wonderful evening together that almost ended up with them tangled in bed. Now, years later, he is ready to win over her guarded heart. Juniper Ross has taken over reconstructing their family inn with her mother on a cruise. She makes some heavy-hitting mistakes, and Callum is ready to help in all the ways only he can. Juniper starts melting, and Callum is bulldozing in her heart with the speed of light. Their pretend hate bickering and nicknames are just a front to a sad, lonely boy and a sad, lonely girl. Juniper's black cat energy fits his golden retriever energy swell. Juniper loves being in charge in the sheets. Callum lets her, but he is not exactly submissive, just man over heels, but he can take charge too, and that's when you see all their energy shine. This was an atmospheric, fun and moving romance. Scotland is where it's at, it seems!
I'm incredibly excited about Allistair! There are layers to what's in his mind, I know it.

callum and juniper wrecked me!!! I absolutely love a “I saw her first” moment. brothers ex fiancé and age gap with no 3rd act breakup. a more detailed review coming soon

The banter was good! Loved the small town vibes! Loved the tropes! And I am always down for the amount of yearning in a romance book!

4.25/5 stars
This is the second book (interconnected standalone type deal) to Whiskey Business, which I already own from the author. I really enjoyed Whiskey Business, so I was super excited to pick this one up, and it didn't disappoint! I will say, I probably would have liked it more had it not been a reverse grumpy-sunshine (this happened with the Rebel Blue Ranch series with me, too, I'm just not for the black cat, golden retriever vibe for whatever reason), BUT I still enjoyed the premise. Ex-Fiance's brother also didn't bother me as much as I'd anticipated, and what saved it was the YEARNING people. Bring back YEARNING (and this one had it).

Thank you Net Galley, Elliot Fletcher, and Avon Publishing for an E-arc of this book!
I can’t believe I started this series out of order! I didn’t realize it was a series that follows siblings. I can’t wait to read about Mal and April now!
I loved the characters in this book. Juniper and Callum both have some family that work through in this book as the learn to love and be happy with each other. I love the banter between the siblings and close friends too! Such an enjoyable, spicy read!

Thank you Avon and Harper Voyager for the ARC!
I ate this up! Black cat Juniper and golden retriever Callum were the perfect match! It starts off SPICY in the prologue and then you have to feel all the yearning from Callum as he has to watch himself around his little brother’s ex fiancé. Elliot Fletcher did such a great job with this book! I haven’t read Whisky Business but now I feel like I need to go back in time and read the first book. I loved the age gap, the brother’s ex drama, the small town drama, the spice! He fell first….this was great. Checked all the boxes!

Oh I ate this UP!!!!! I was so excited to return back to the Isle of Skye and the Macabes after loving April & Mal in Whisky Business. This had the perfect mix of tension and romantic moments, and I loved the banter between the two seemingly opposite main characters. They both are great at hiding their true feelings except to each other, and their communication was top tier. I am extremely interested in Alastair’s book now, to get into his head, after all of this went down between his brother and his ex-fiancée.

Scotch on the Rocks was an amazing opposites attract romance that follows Juniper Ross and Callum Macabe. The second in Fletcher’s The Macabe Brother’s series, readers get to see characters return from book 1, Whisky Business, as supporting characters.
Callum felt a deep connection with Juniper from the moment he met her - only to find out she was his brother’s fiancée. After their devastating breakup, Juniper swears off any relationship with a Macabe - even a simple friendship. The chemistry and tension between these two is perfection - and the banter builds throughout the novel. It's easy to immediately see that Callum has fallen hard for Juniper.
In addition to the swoony worthy romance, the book also explores themes connected to belonging and found family. Fletcher tackles difficult topics with grace and manages to keep the book feeling lighthearted while also being heartfelt and true to the topics within the pages.
This novel had the perfect mix of tropes, and you will love it if you enjoy:
-Opposites Attract
-She’s Grumpy/He’s Sunshine
-He Falls First
-Brother’s Ex-Fiancée
-Brief Fake Dating
-Small Town
*I received an advanced copy of Scotch on the Rocks - all opinions are my own*

Scotch on the Rocks by Elliot Fletcher is a captivating romance that exceeded my expectations. The story of Callum and Juniper, set in a charming Scottish village, is filled with tension, humor, and heartfelt moments. The chemistry between the characters is electric, making their journey from forbidden love to a happy ending truly engaging. Fletcher masterfully balances humor, emotional depth, and romance, keeping readers hooked from start to finish. The dual timeline is handled beautifully, adding depth to the characters' backstory without losing momentum. This book is a must-read for romance fans, offering a mix of found family, small-town charm, and a slow-burn love story. I received this book as compensation for my review, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a compelling romance.

OH BOY THIS IS A MUST READ! 5 Stars!
I had such high expectations for Callum and Junipers love story going into this book and boy oh boy did Elliot exceed them!! This is an ex fiance's brother romance... need I say more? No, but I will. I devoured this book in a sitting! The tension between Cal and Juniper was palpable. I wanted these two to get together from the very first page and when their love story finally ended in a HEA I believed in it!!
What you will find inside this 5 star read!
❤️🔥 Age gap romance (8 years)

This book will leave you wanting more of their story long after you finish the last page. This book is worth your time and money and I recommend that you immediately preorder this book, and the first in this interconnected standalone series if you haven't read Whiskey Business. Elliott Fletcher's writing is captivating and she will quickly become an auto buy author for you just as she has become for me.
Scotch on the rocks will be out in the world July 8th, 2025 and if I could personally deliver it to everyone I would! Anyways, thank you Avon and NetGalley for the eARC, I adore the Macabe brothers.

I couldn't wait to read this ARC after absolutely loving Whisky Business last year. I am happy to report that I was not disappointed and Elliot Fletcher has earned her spot as a new auto-read author for me. For my preferences, she sparks the perfect balance of humor, emotional depth, and spice.
This book had me hooked and ready from the prologues alone. Callum has been in love with Juniper since he met her, right before she was introduced to him as his brother's girlfriend. EIGHT YEARS LATER we get to see them navigate their proximity, semi-hostile banter, and simmering attraction. The whole book had me engrossed - it has fantastic banter, a charming, idyllic setting in a small village of Scotland, so much pining, and plenty of heat. Plus, there is an undercurrent of emotion and a bit of messiness that makes for a heartachingly wonderful time. I cannot recommend this book/series enough for anyone who loves romance.
Thank you to Avon and Harper Voyager and NetGalley for an ARC to read and review.

Romance readers, brace yourselves: he’s the local veterinarian AND a golden retriever. 😍
Thank you for this eARC, @avonbooks - I could not have loved Scotch on the Rocks more. The chemistry between Callum and Juniper was off the charts. This book is a masterclass in the second chance romance - to be honest, I am *usually* not a big fan of dual timeline, but Fletcher does it perfectly here. She starts the story seven years in the past and then moves to the present - and stays there. This framing kept me engaged the entire story and I read this one in less than 24 hours.
Here’s what readers can expect:
- Found family
- Small-town romance
- Forbidden love (brother’s ex fiancé)
- Golden retriever/black cat
- Isle of Skye/ lush Scottish settings
- Forced proximity
- Slow burn (mostly)
- He’s down bad
@elliotfletcherwrites ‘s Scotch on the Rocks is out July 8 and I highly recommend this one for your summer TBR!
Trust me, I’ve spent a lot of time in Scotland (on my Kindle) this spring. 🫶🏻

I loved the banter in the story and how the two main characters were so different yet so connected. This series is becoming one of my favorites, and I'm excited to read more by Fletcher.
