I had a lot of fun reading this book, finally an original story. There are several twists that surprise. I will continue to read any book that this author writes.

Thank you Atria Books & Vi Keeland for this read!
I LOVED THIS BOOK. I was totally hooked from start to finish. It was mysterious in the best way - the author had me questioning the story, our narrator and all the characters surrounding them! They cleverly threw some twists our way and they were really unpredictable and brilliant.
The ending chapter was the ICING ON THE CAKE.
This book was stick in my memories for a while and has put the author in the spotlight for me! Can't wait to read more from them!
This book is perfect for thriller lovers who want an unpredictable twisty read - it will have you literally unable to stop reading until you find out what is going on!
Highly recommend 4.5/5

Wow Vi Keeland does it again!! I have always been a fan of her steamy romances, but when she shifted and released The Unraveling last year- I was hooked even more! “Someone Knows” immediately grabbed me just by the title and getting an early copy was something I just had to do!
Elizabeth is a professor in NYC with roots and a traumatic past in Louisiana. That trauma comes back to haunt her in the form of a student turning in a story about her exact situation which lead her to leave home- right down to the correct names and discussion of items that correlate only to this one moment! She is thrown right back into the stress and terror of finding out who knows of her crime. Along the way, she meets Noah who has a connection to her victim…leading to a struggle of her internal conflict yet again. Sexy, suspenseful, and engaging- Someone Knows keeps you flipping pages and then picking your jaw up off the floor with that ending!!!

This wasn't portrayed correctly at all. I can understand thriller but a "sexy" thriller no. It was kinky and weird and I felt icky just reading it. Definitely not what I was expecting from this author and won't be recommending it.

What if your student started writing the story of the murder you committed 20 years ago? Yeah. This one grabs you like that.
Read if you like: dark academia, buried secrets, morally gray heroines, slow-burning dread, twisty thrillers
📚 A college professor with a past she thought she’d buried is forced to confront it when a student submits a writing assignment that hits uncomfortably close to a decades-old murder she was part of. Vi Keeland delivers a chilling, sexy psychological thriller where secrets don't stay buried—and someone definitely knows.
👨👧 Elizabeth is sharp, damaged, and layered with guilt. You want to trust her, but... should you? Watching her unravel and try to keep control is like watching a lit match drift toward gasoline—tense and impossible to look away from.
💞 There’s romance, but it’s threaded into the tension rather than softening it. The chemistry is palpable, but this isn’t a love story—it’s a story where love complicates everything, including survival.
👧 The supporting characters feel like shadows in a fog—just clear enough to unsettle you. Especially that student. You’ll question everyone’s motives until the very last page.
✍️ Keeland's writing is taut and gripping. From the first chapter, it’s clear this isn’t just a thriller—it’s a psychological mind game. That said, if you like neat endings… fair warning. The open-ended finale left me yelling at the last page (and eyeing my bookshelf like it betrayed me).
🌟 Someone Knows is popcorn-level addictive, with tension that coils tighter with each chapter. It's the kind of book you inhale—only to sit in stunned silence afterward, wondering what just happened and who you can talk to about it.

I think I'm winning the lotto with all the good books I've read this year. Vi Keeland might be known for her romance, but in Someone Knows, she proves she can play with the psychological thriller pros and still turn up the heat. This book is bingeable (I read in less than a day). The setup? English professor Elizabeth is doing her usual grading gig when she stumbles on a student manuscript that isn’t fiction—it’s her past. One she’s buried deep and locked tight… because it ends in murder. And she knows, because she’s the one who did it.
The way Keeland unspools this story is masterful. Short chapters, escalating tension, and just enough steam to keep the pages flying—it’s a twisty ride from New York to Louisiana, and the ghosts Elizabeth left behind aren’t happy she’s back. I had so many theories and was still blindsided againa and again - AND the ending! I damn near sh*t. The romance, while a subplot, was steamy, mysterious, and filled with red flags.
Trigger warnings include grooming, child sexual abuse, and (obviously) murder.

🏫📚ARC Review: Someone Knows by Vi Keeland🎓🏫
This romance queen dips her pen in the inky waters of psychological suspense and nails it!
If this is what Keeland’s thrillers look like, sign me up for every single one. "Someone Knows" is addictive and clever. It's definitely one of my top reads of 2025!
From the stunning cover to the haunting final word, "Someone Knows" is a razor-sharp psychological thriller that proves Vi Keeland isn’t just dipping her toes into the genre; she’s making a splash! With magnetic characters, simmering tension, and a past that refuses to stay buried, this book grabs you by the throat and doesn’t let go.
Elizabeth has a past that’s messier than a teenager’s bedroom, with secrets lurking around every corner and a shocking mistake that haunts her. Throw in some relationship drama that could put reality TV to shame, and this is a book I couldn't put down!
Clearly, Keeland isn't ready to say goodbye to the romance genre just yet! She’s sprinkled in some sizzling scenes that turn up the heat, but don’t worry—there’s no sappy romance bogging it down. It’s all the good vibes without the cheesy stuff!
Thank you to the author and Atria/Emily Bestler Books for providing this gifted eARC via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Thank you NetGalley, Atria and Vi Keeland for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I don’t read a lot of thrillers so my detective brain might not be as sharp as others but this one kept me guessing!
Elizabeth is a writing professor in NY who left her Louisiana home without looking back. All is well until someone registered in her online course starts sending her a story that no one should know - of what led up to her killing her former teacher. As she’s reading the chapters she’s trying to figure out who could be writing this and how they know.
With a growing list of suspects she’s left with no choice but to go back to Louisiana and try to track down this mystery student.
Along the way, Elizabeth pieces together a lot of things but so much is still a mystery. Elizabeth is a flawed human and there were a few scenes I struggled with rooting for her.
The book wraps up but also doesn’t…not sure I love how much was left unwritten but I enjoyed the book.
There are some triggering topics so check those out if you can.

Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for the eARC.
This is my second Vi Keeland book and I couldn’t put it down. So twisty and dark. I loved the way this story unfolded. I predicted parts but others left me stunned. I loved it.

This story was very twisty, and I enjoyed that for most of it. It pulled me right in and kept me hooked until about halfway through.
It’s a story of an English professor, Elizabeth, who regularly reviews creative writing assignments. She receives the first chapters of her students’ writing assignments during summer sessions. One of these chapters sounds very familiar. In fact, it sounds exactly like what happened to her friend Jocelyn when they were in high school. But how can that be? And as more chapters are delivered, she realizes someone knows what she did that summer to protect her friend. Elizabeth needs to figure out who is sending the chapters, so she returns to her hometown in Louisiana to figure it out, where she also has to deal with her alcoholic mother.
I hoped this story would be different, but unfortunately, it fell flat for me. Like I said, it kept my interest for the first half, but then some events were so obvious and predictable that they turned me off. That carried through to the end when I figured out who was involved and literally rolled my eyes at the very end. It was such a bummer.
Thank you to #netgalley and Atria Books for this ARC.

I've always loved Vi Keeland's books, but these thrillers she's been writing as of late are just as amazing. This book had several twists and turns, keeping you guessing on what would happen next. Really enjoyed it!

I really enjoyed this spicy domestic suspense - I haven’t read many with steamy scenes included. The plot has some great unexpected reveals and twists and turns. I was convinced I knew who the villain was but I was wrong. Such a great ending!
The pacing is generally even and the short chapters make it so easy to just keep turning the pages.
This would be a great beachside read.
Thanks Jennifer for the buddy read. I really enjoyed it!
Thanks to the publisher for this complimentary e-ARC. All opinions are my own.

This is a fast-paced, suspenseful, twisty, & STEAMY thriller. I am usually not a fan of romance/steam in my thrillers, but I actually enjoyed this one. I really enjoyed the plot, the characters, and the twists throughout. This book is a definite page turner that hooked me in and kept me flipping the pages. The MC, Elizabeth, is a college professor and one of her virtual learning students turns in a writing assignment in which she knows a big dark secret of Elizabeth’s which she has kept hidden for 20 years. I loved how Keeland revealed bits of the writing assignment from the student in different chapters, and enjoyed diving deep into the dark secrets of Elizabeth’s past. There are so many twists throughout this book, and I did not see any of them coming. This book had me hooked, it was fun and enjoyable, and a unique thriller. Definitely pick this one up today!
𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗜𝗳 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗘𝗻𝗷𝗼𝘆:
✦Some steam/romance in your thrillers
✦Psychological thrillers
✦Plenty of twists and suspense throughout
✦An addictively unique read

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️4/5

I've read a lot of thrillers, and it definitely is not common for the killer to be revealed in the beginning of the book.
However, professor, Elizabeth Davis has more than one secret. One she has kept not only from those close to her, but from herself.
Years have passed since a murder was committed. Elizabeth believed that dark time was put to rest. But when a student in her class turns in a story that is too close to home, down to every detail, she realizes that the past may not be buried after all.
Who is the author of this story? (as Elizabeth is not familiar with the student's name)
Is it her friend Jocelyn, who Elizabeth was protecting years prior?
Is it her other friend, Ivy, who knows about the secret?
Or a more random person?
What I didn't get was how could anyone know all of the details about what led up to the crime. I think there's an obvious answer, but that answer also comes with a twist.
When Elizabeth returns home to check in on her ailing mother, she confronts a lot of old memories, and creates some unexpected new ones with a man named Noah. Let me be clear, I did not trust this guy at all. Elizabeth didn't either, it seems, but lust got in the way of her good judgement.
What I liked more about this story is the big reveal. It comes with a couple more twists. And I loved the ending. I kind of love an open ending for thrillers, it allows my mind to get creative. While this author is best known for her romance books, this second thriller shows she has a solid place in this genre. Can't wait for more!

Thank you to NetGalley for an arc copy in exchange for my honest review.
3.5*** rounded up. I really enjoyed the story overall although I did predict most of what was happening. The ending threw me off though! Overall, it was a really good story that had me hooked from the first chapter. I will be reading more from this author if they continue in the thriller department.

This gripping thriller keeps readers on edge from start to finish. The story delivers an unsettling reminder that no one is ever quite who they seem. Elizabeth, a professor in New York, has built a life far removed from her Louisiana roots and the past she’s worked hard to forget. But when her students begin submitting writing assignments that mirror deeply buried secrets, she realizes someone knows far more than they should. With nowhere else to turn, she returns to Louisiana in search of answers.
What follows is a relentless pursuit of truth, forcing Elizabeth to confront the ghosts of her past. The novel weaves together layers of mystery, complex characters, and unexpected twists, making it impossible to put down. Fast-paced and chilling, this book keeps you hooked right to the last page.

This was an ARC provided by the author, publisher via NetGalley.. I was honkers to get an ARC for this book so thanks to all. I really enjoyed this book, it kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I loved that there was a romantic aspect in the book but hands down a great suspense read. This book kept me guessing and I enjoy that.

Thank you @atriabooks for the gifted copy!

This was a very bingeable, fast paced thriller and it had me hooked to the very end! And that ending! I don’t even know if I have a complete answer at the end of the story to why things happened, but it left me saying “Ahhhh!”
Elizabeth is an English professor who is grading writing assignments when she receives some chapters of a story that sound very familiar to her… because they are a story she knows all too well! Only a few people know the story and she is concerned who this student is and why they are sending this to her.
Elizabeth travels back home and that’s where we start to learn about her haunted past that she’s been hoping to forget. She wants to make sure her life doesn’t come crashing down, and she needs to find out who might know what’s going on.
About halfway through the story we get a bonkers reveal, which turns the story upside down! The characters are kind of unlikable in this story, but the story is still addictive. And it’s twisted; a good look at trigger warnings is advised!
I look forward to reading more from this author, as she knows how to pull you in and not let you go until the end! That’s my favorite kind of suspenseful book to read!

Somebody Knows is the second thriller I have read by Vi. I am used to her other stories but dont get me wrong she does well at being versatile. The story is interesting and mysterious with the MFC read a paper that leaves her gobsmacked. She reads it knowing that it mirrors a real life scenario. So again it is a nice switch from the usual story from Vi.

Vi Keeland delivers a gripping psychological thriller with Someone Knows, a dark and layered tale that keeps readers on edge from start to finish. At the heart of the story is Elizabeth, a woman harboring a long-buried secret—one she thought would never resurface. But when mysterious messages begin appearing, it becomes chillingly clear: someone else knows, and they want her to know it too.
As Elizabeth is thrust into a tense game of cat and mouse, the narrative unravels with precision, peeling back layers of suspense and emotional depth. Keeland masterfully blends psychological tension with compelling character development, creating a story that is as emotionally resonant as it is thrilling. With every twist, the stakes rise, making Someone Knows an engaging and well-crafted read that fans of the genre will devour.
