I could not put this book down!! From the first page, I was hooked. Apparently this author usually writes romances, but I’m here to say - she is a great psychological thriller writer! There were moments when I questioned everything, moments I audibly gasped, and moments I couldn’t believe what I was reading. Absolutely loved it!

This was my first read by Vi Keeland but it won’t be my last. This story had me in a chokehold and I never saw what was coming. Troubling relationships all throughout the main character’s life make you question everything.

Thank you to Vi Keeland, NetGalley, and Atria for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Vi Keeland keeps me on my toes and second guessing myself all throughout her thrillers! Yet another remarkable thriller from a versatile author.

As a teenager Elizabeth was groomed by an older teacher; her trauma has shaped her life. Now, some unknown person is writing her letters detailing the affair.
Full of twists and turns with some spice thrown in; I didn’t want to put this down! The final chapter had me yelling at my Kindle!

I did really like this book but it also really gave me the creeps haha! Lots of good twists and the end is kind of unpredictable. I needed a few days to digest this one. I’d say Vi completed her mission!

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review. Elizabeth is a Professor teaching a Creative Writing Seminar and as she reviews the assignments of her students, one grabs her attention immediately and it is not because of how good it is. The reason she is engrossed in the paper is because she knows this story and it s about her own life and her best friend Jocelyn and the professor who was involved and ended up dead because Elizabeth is the one that killed him. As Elizabeth tries to figure out who the author of this paper really is, she also meets some new "friends" along the way......are these friends a coincidence or just someone she happened to meet one night....you decide....Enjoy!!!!

This book really surprised me. The writing, the story, character development? Crisp, compelling, and fast-paced once it gets going. It kept me hooked with short chapters and suspenseful turns. And that ending… it left me confused but also craving more. I can’t help but wonder was that a setup for a sequel? Because I need Part 2, like, now! Oh my god!!! It's a total 5 star, big 5 star for me.

Wait….. Other readers and the author, publisher, editors HAVE to see the major holes in this ending, right??! I am absolutely torn giving this review. Never have I so quickly changed a book rating from a 5 star review to a 1 star. For 99% of the book I was sure I’d be giving it 5 stars. The last chapter didnt do it for me and this is where all the flaws are evident. The last chapter does not make sense for the rest of the story and introduces so many holes in the storyline… and not in the psychological, get your mind thinking way. I hope before the book release that this is fixed because this will make me lose trust in the author and publishers. Because wow, what?! No. You cannot have that chapter. It will discredit everything that is previously written in the book.

This is a fast paced thriller about Elizabeth, a professor, who is reliving events from her past through chapters submitted from a student in her English class. It’s full of unexpected twists and surprises that keep you guessing through the entire book. It’s such a great read and I highly recommend it!

Every once in a while, I stumble upon a book that completely blows me away, and Someone Knows by Vi Keeland was exactly that. I went in blind, not knowing what to expect, and was absolutely hooked from the start. This book was a wild ride—gripping, intense, and impossible to put down.
The final twist? Jaw-dropping. I was genuinely shocked, sitting there with my mouth open, trying to process what had just happened. I never saw it coming, and that’s what made it so brilliant.
This was my first time reading Vi Keeland in the thriller genre, and it definitely won’t be my last. I’ve already got my eye on The Unraveling, another thriller by Vi Keeland, and I can’t wait to dive into it soon. If you love psychological thrillers that keep you on edge, this one is a must-read!

Thank you to Atria Books via Netgalley for sending me this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

You got me Vi, when I reached the middle of the book I thought I knew where the book was going. Nope, would have never gone there.
Someone Knows is full of twist and turns, lies and truths. It grabbed my attention on the first chapter and the characters are all great liars. The writing was great and the way the story was told had me glued to the book. Never saw it coming.

I absolutely loved Someone Knows. I’ve been a fan of Vi Keeland and her romances for years. Vi’s thrillers are just as good. This book kept you on the edge of your seat the whole time and had many twists and turns. Definitely recommend for any fan of the thriller genre.

When I saw Vi Keeland's Someone Knows on Netgalley, I knew I had to read it. I have been a longtime fan of Vi Keeland (and Penelope Ward- yes, I am putting a plug out there because she is hands down one of the best)

This book starts with Elizabeth, an English Professor who has spent the last 20 years running from something she did in high school. While grading papers for an online creative writing class that she teaches, she receives an entry from Hannah Greer, who tells the story of what happened to Elizabeth 20 years ago. It was traumatic, it was real, and now she is sure that someone knows what happened to Mr. Sawyer. After reading the chapters submitted, Elizabeth decides to go back home to Louisiana to find out who is out to get her and who knows her secrets.

This book had twists, turns, and draw-dropping moments. At the end we find out who was tormenting Elizabeth and who Hannah Greer is, and this was the moment I wanted it to be different than who I thought it was. It was predictable, although Vi tricked me for a few seconds. The ending is what gives it the 4 stars instead of 5 because it wasn't classy and it wasn't enough of a twist to leave me jaw dropped at the end of the book.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books/Emily Bestler Books for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

'Someone Knows' - Publication date June 17th, 2025.

As a longtime fan of Vi Keeland's romance novels, it's so awesome seeing her transition to mystery! After reading her first foray into the genre, 'The Unraveling' and absolutely loving it, I was excited to be chosen to read the ARC of 'Someone Knows.'

Elizabeth is a middle-aged English professor working and loving life in New York. A perpetual 'bachelor,' she has minimal connections and complications and she prefers it that way. When a student interrupts her carefully curated life, it sends her into a tailspin. Dredging up her rough upbringing and a traumatic event from her past, she has no choice but to return to the home town she left behind. What follows is a wild and twisted ride.

I really liked the fast-paced plot of the book - we get the intrigue and mystery almost immediately and this drew me in and kept me reading. The writing style flowed well, our FMC being the main narrator and all past information coming in the "chapters" from the unknown antagonist. Very different and intriguing.

That twist! About 2/3 into it, there was a twist that I didn't see coming at all! I always enjoy when an author can catch me off guard.

My biggest issue came towards the end, where Elizabeth seemingly leaves off on investigating the overall mystery... No! That left me feeling so unsatisfied on her behalf, especially since she started with gumption.

In the end, I give this novel a rating of 3.5 stars. While I didn't enjoy it as much as her first book, Vi Keeland proved that she isn't a one-hit wonder in this genre. I can't wait to read anything else she writes!

*A great many thanks to Atria Books, Vi Keeland, and NetGalley for this ARC. It is important to note that I was not committed to providing a positive review; all opinions are undoubtedly my own.*

Elizabeth, a college English professor, is horrified when she reads the first chapter of The Reckoning, a short story submitted by one of her creative writing students. It recounts a scandalous affair between a high school senior and her teacher—an affair that ends in the teacher’s murder. But Elizabeth knows it’s more than just fiction: it’s a re-telling of her best friend Jocelyn’s tragic past. Elizabeth also knows exactly who killed the teacher. After all, she’s the one who did it. When more chapters arrive, Elizabeth realizes someone else knows her darkest secret. Determined to protect her future, she returns to her hometown in Louisiana, where the past still looms—and it may be impossible to run from the truth any longer.

Initially, the story took a bit of time to fully hook me. But around the halfway point, the pace ramped up, and I found myself quickly turning pages as one twist led to another. Though the final revelations weren’t quite as jaw-dropping as in some of my other recent reads, they still delivered a satisfying punch of tension and closure. Overall, Someone Knows was entertaining, suspenseful, and deserving of a solid 4-star rating—if you’re willing to push past the slower opening act, you’ll be rewarded with a twisty, fast-paced second half.

This novel will appeal to readers who love a blend of mystery and romance, with a heavy dose of dark secrets and past trauma. Be aware that the content includes themes of murder, child abuse, rape, and sexual situations, so approach with caution if these topics are sensitive. If you’re a fan of slow-building suspense that ultimately delivers, Someone Knows is well worth picking up.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Vi Keeland for allowing me to read and review this Advanced Reader Copy, slated for publication on July 1, 2025. All opinions are my own.

I was very surprised when I saw Video Ireland and by the title it sounded like a romantic thriller and then I looked and it said mystery and romance! I was so happy because I've seen her before and its usually just Romance! This book was a very disturbing and twisted book. It started with Elizabeth a English professor. She taught an beginner writing course and then an online writing course for more advanced students writing a book. Every six weeks or so they would send her a few chapters. This one book she starts to read the first chapter and is instantly transported 20 years into her past! Its about a high school student and her teacher Her friend Jocelyn is the student and Elizabeth killed the teacher!! This book has some disturbing topics you should be aware of as in sexual assault by the teacher. This book is classified as a romantic thriller, I wouldn't say romantic but it definitely has I guess you could say spice. While Elizabeth was, reading the pages from the anonymous sender or rather from Hannah Greer who Elizabeth could never find and present day you really had to keep up. It also touched on mental illness as in disassociate amnesia which Elizabeth herself had. Elizabeth also had a very contentious relationship with her mother. Her mother was an alcoholic and ran around in bars when Elizabeth was growing up.This book had many twists and turns in it but was very intriguing! In the final chapters I was very surprised as the final chapters wrapped around to the end it is left very open! I'm very glad that Vi Keeland wrote her first ever romantic thriller, I thoroughly enjoyed it and definitely recommend it. I also give it 4 stars!! I also want to thank Netgalley and Atria Books/Atria/ Emily Beatles Books for giving me a copy to read for my honest review.
