Right from the start, this book hooked me. The twist in the middle of the book blew my mind. And then the twist at the end… I did not see that coming. You think it’s resolved and then it’s not. This is my kind of book. Highly recommend!

I could not put this down! Vi should have been writing thriller novels a long time ago! Another amazing book, can’t wait for the next one!

Wow! This one had me on the edge of my seat. It was fast-paced and very tense. There were a couple of elements that were iffy for me (a relationship that was disconcerting and a predictable for me twist), but in the end, I found this a solidly entertaining thriller.

My thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

As a long time fan of Vi Keeland's romance novels, I wanted to read her new thriller.
I really liked how short and concise the book was. It kept me at the edge of the seat. But I would have really liked the MC to be fleshed out more. From the beginning, we went from one thing to another that was happening to Elizabeth. But I wanted to know her character more. That is my only gripe.
The first big twist was really juicy. And the twists kept coming in which was really interesting and entertaining.
Overall I enjoyed reading this book so much so that I finished it in 2 days.

Thanks to Netgalley and Atria Books for providing me with the Advanced Reader Copy of the book.

This just didn't work for me, It didn't feel like a particularly clever or unique mystery/crime novel and I didn't like the main character. Even the twist at the end didn't feel right.

Wow. Looks like I have found a new genre and a new author! This book takes you on a fantastic ride with an ending that leaves you speechless. I honestly read the last 2 chapters twice and I’m still thinking about it.

What would you do if one of your students was anonymously submitting a story for the writing class you teach, which is your story? It’s clear this particular story isn’t fiction. It’s not just any story, it’s a decades old murder that she was involved in…

With each newly delivered chapter to her inbox, Professor Elizabeth Davis’s life is thrown into utter turmoil. It seems there’s no escaping her dark past. She’s paranoid, on edge, and her imagination is running wild. It’s clear someone knows… And it’s also clear someone wants revenge…

Someone Knows is the best kind of thriller! That’s the kind of book when there are twists you didn’t see coming, and at the end you’ve got to process what your feelings about what you’ve just read, re-order all the events in your mind, and you’re left saying to yourself “what the hell did I just read??”!

As a longtime reader and lover of Vi Keeland’s romance books, I read her first thriller (The Unraveling) and loved it. Super pleased she’s followed it up with Someone Knows. It’s a 5 star read for me!

I found myself drawn to the premise of this book right away. I really liked the idea of a college professor grappling with a dark secret from her past, especially as it comes to light through her student’s mysterious writing. I appreciated the way the story explored themes like guilt, memory, and the long-lasting effects of past choices. I felt Elizabeth’s struggle as she returned to her Louisiana hometown to confront her history, and I admired how the book depicted her unraveling and her attempts to reconcile with her past. I did appreciate how the mystery unfolded, though I felt the resolution was a bit predictable. I hoped for a twistier, less straightforward ending. That said, I still found the story compelling and worth the read.

Overall, I liked how the book handled its darker themes and suspenseful elements, but I felt it could have pushed further to deliver a more impactful and surprising conclusion. It left me with mixed feelings, but I’d still recommend it to readers who enjoy character-driven mysteries with haunting pasts. Let me know if you’d like me to tweak this!

I enjoyed this book, though there were some things that I questioned. The story centers on Elizabeth, who is a college professor in New York, totally dissociated from her youth, when a student submits a writing assignment that very clearly demonstrates that they know the secret that caused her to run 20 years ago. Elizabeth is determined to figure out who is behind this and what they plan to do; she sets off to her hometown in Louisiana to dig for clues.

Elizabeth is not a super likable character but it really didn’t bother me much; while her actions were frustrating at times, when it was all said and done it was pretty clear why she made the decisions she made. I liked that she was fearless and not afraid to confront those she thought might be wronging her. I didn’t see the major twist in the 2nd half of the book coming and thought it was really well done. What I didn’t like, though, was the ending, which left a ton of unanswered questions and felt like it was done for shock factor versus a true resolution to the story. I could’ve gotten behind it if there had been more information given.

Overall, this was a good story even if the end sullied it a bit for me. I still finished it over a few hours so clearly it held my interest! Thanks to NetGalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

In Vi Keeland’s newest thriller, we follow Elizabeth as she is trying to move on from a secret from twenty years ago, involving her best friend, Jocelyn, who she hasn’t seen since that night. Elizabeth is a professor teaching a creative writing course, and her past begins to haunt her when one of her students begins writing about exactly what happened those years ago. But only Elizabeth, Jocelyn, and one other person truly know, and that other person is dead.

Stuck in a cat and mouse game, Elizabeth’s psyche begins to suffer as she’s force to immerse herself in her past to uncover who is messing with her and why.

This book had everything I love about a thriller: a badass FMC who is determined for answers, that FMC’s return to her dead end small town to face what she was running from, and twists that make you question every character.

I believe this is only Keeland’s second thriller, but oh man, do I hope she writes more! 4.5 ⭐️

Elizabeth is shocked when reading her student’s essays. Why? Well, because one of them seems to be the story of her early life. A life that she left in the rearview mirror.
The things that this person knows… Let’s just say unless Elizabeth has a split personality and is writing this herself, someone knows about her past
She goes home to Minton Parish. A place she swore she would never return to. But she has to find out who knows her biggest secret. That is all I’m going to divulge about the plot.
I read my first book by this author, The Unraveling, and it was the first thriller mixed with romance that I ever enjoyed. I thought I had this book worked out, but of course there was a final twist that changed everything.
This publishes in June, and in my opinion, it would make a very good beach read.

I received this ARC from netgalley for a honest review.

Vi keeland I have loved her books over the years both romance and smut. When I saw this book cover on netgalley I knew I immediately had to review this book, and was so happy when I was approved.

The main character is a professor and she starts to receive chapters off who she thinks is a student and as she begins to read each chapter. She realises she knows the events of the story because she has lived them. She heads back to her home town to find answers to whom the sender is. With lots of twists and turns throughout. And the ending I didn't see coming at all. Great story flowed brilliantly and kept you hooked from the start

5 stars 🌟

I will definitely be recommending this book to the members of the plot thickens book club group on facebook.

Vi writing suspense is my new favorite! I need a follow up to this story. I can imagine how your brain would be exhausted reading book a book two wondering “why”.

This book hooked me from the beginning, it was a fun read. I enjoyed the storyline and characters, the fast pace, and how short the book was. This was my first read by this author but won’t be my last.

•Elizabeth, an English professor, is enjoying reading her students’ essays until she stumbles upon one titled The Reckoning. Initially intrigued by the title, she quickly realizes this is not just any story, but the story of her sordid past.

•I couldn’t put this book down. It was captivating and I truly couldn’t get enough. It will become available on June 17, 2025. Thank you to NetGalley, Atria Books, and Vi Keeland for this ARC

I would say one of my best qualities is that I am not easily influenced. So, I am confused at the bewilderment I am feeling right now. This is the second time this author has managed to garner complete control over my mind, leading me to believe whatever she wants.
Let the mind games begin.
It took me longer to figure out who was responsible for the haunting things that happened in this story than it did with her first book in the genre.
The first book had me assuming, changing my mind, reevaluating my assumptions and then having my mind completely blown, not once, not twice but three times.
With this story I had read well over half of the novel until I had a little inkling as to what the truth really was. Who it was who could have demonized the lead character in their own unique, chilling, and compelling way.
Hooray for me, I had it all figured out and a glimmer of hope for the lead character brought a sense of closure, until it did not.
Once again, Vi Keeland has spread her wings and has written an intensely twisted story which I found impossible to figure out.
Her brilliant ability to create well-rounded, intriguing, and realistic characters shines brightly in this story along with her creative talent for knowing when to lay low and when to strike with the unexpected.
I would be remiss if I did not mention her extreme talent at providing descriptions of locations that burst open before my eyes with brilliant, vivid colors and details.
From constantly feeling a slight edge of what’s next, to being lulled into the different scenarios of sexual situations, some harsh, some tempting and some downright dirty, all underlined with vision of the church, confessions, and sins, your mind will be spinning with what ifs.
Someone Knows is a well thought out, intriguing and enticing story. One that had me hooked, shocked, and blindsided by the ending.
I truly hope that Vi continues to thrill us with many more books in the genre. She is a force to be reckoned with and I cannot wait to get my hands on her next release.

I missed way too much sleep last night staying up in the middle of the night reading this. I could not put it down and needed to find out what happened. Someone Knows is dark and twisted with tons of suspense. There are some pretty big trigger warnings so please check before starting. The ending caught me so off guard, I had to read it twice to make sure. One of my favorite thrillers that I've read this year so far!

While I haven't read anything from this author before, I am going to go back and read through her catalogue. I really enjoyed the unreliable narrator, as well as the marrying of the past and present. This felt like the perfect mix of family drama as well as thriller.
