The twists and turns in this book had me clenching my pearls! I felt as crazy as Elizabeth (MFC) trying to figure out the twist that I knew would be coming, which I did not see! This book had me from start to finish and left me wanting more of the story! I need to know what Noah's plans are! (Hoping for a 2nd book!!) Check your triggers because there are some in the books.

Every now and then, a story finds its way into your hands that doesn’t just entertain you—it consumes you. Someone Knows by Vi Keeland was one of those rare gems. I went in completely blind, with no expectations, and what I found was an emotional, pulse-racing journey that gripped me from the very first page.

This wasn’t just a thriller—it was an experience. The tension, the pacing, the raw intensity of it all had me flipping through pages late into the night, completely unaware of time passing. And then… that final twist. It stopped me in my tracks. My heart was pounding, my thoughts spinning, and I just sat there in silence, processing the shock of it all. I never saw it coming. It was powerful, unexpected, and left me breathless.

If you’re someone who loves to feel every beat of a story—who craves suspense, emotion, and jaw-dropping twists—this book will absolutely leave a mark on your heart.

A huge thank you to Atria Books and NetGalley for this ARC. I feel incredibly lucky to have read it early. 🌻✨

I loved Someone Knows! What a page turner! This was a fast read for me. I started and hours later was still reading wanting to know what was going to happen and who did it. Vi sucked me in with her writing and I honestly didn’t see the ending coming. Vi sets it up so anyone could be the one responsible. It’s fast paced and fun. A must read!

An arc was provided for an honest review.

I love that Vi Keeland has taken the turn into the thriller world! I am equally as blown away with Someone Knows as I was with The Unraveling- she knows how to deliver!

• Trigger Warnings: sexual abuse (specifically of a minor), physical abuse, unhealthy relationship with parents and miscarriage. Please read with caution if you are sensitive to these subjects.

This was a gripping, thrilling, dark, fast paced page turner with a hint of spice that you will not want to miss!

English professor, Elizabeth Davis, loves teaching the students in her creative writing seminar, she is also never lacking for something to read. When she receives the first chapter of a novel that has been titled The Reckoning by a student, she quickly realizes the story she is reading is in no way fiction. She is reading a story about her and her best friend, Jocelyn. Details that no one else could know about a dark, tragic past that happened 20 years ago, now make up the pages of this student's novel.

Could not put this down. I had to know where the story was going, immediately, which made this a pretty quick read for me. Complex characters, disturbing and twisted (but great) plot and the perfectly placed twist that you don't see coming.

Thank you NetGalley, Atria Books, Atria Thrillers and Vi Keeland for this e-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

I am a huge Vi Keeland fan and her thriller debut The Unravelling was one of my favorite books last year. I went into this book with expecting the same kind of brilliance -which I probably shouldn't have.

I will start by saying I loved the premise. A college professor reads a creative writing submission that eerily mirrors her own life and the secret she buried in her past.

The narration is fast paced and the tone keeps you turning the pages. I figured out some of the plot twists but I was still invested in the story.

What bugged me was the FMC being an idiot trope. It's definitely over used in the thriller genre and it didn't work for me here.
Her paranoia and decisions seemed out of place in comparison to what was happening.

Overall it was a good quick read that I couldn't put down, and if you love spicy thrillers this is the perfect book for you.

⚠️ There are some heavy topics such as grooming, child/sexual abuse

Thank you to Netgalley and Atria books for my advanced copy. My review was voluntary.

Anticipation. Suspense. Mystery. Someone Knows is a romantic thriller about a professor, Elizabeth who receives an assignment from her student but it is the story of her life.

This was engaging and intriguing with twists and turns, some of which were predictable but did not take away the enjoyment of the plot.

I loved the short chapters and the unreliable narrative/ narrator, which thickened the plot.

I believe there should have been a content warning and that ending was something else. Open-ended endings tend to leave readers more confused.

Lovers of unreliable narratives, amnesia trope and dark romance will enjoy this.

I received an advanced copy via NetGalley and the review is mine and voluntary.

I flewwwwwww through this book! Wow. It was incredibly suspenseful and fast paced. I was shocked by every plot twist and except for the ending (which I was a tad underwhelmed by), I felt like this book was a very well done thriller. I was on the edge of my seat and I loved how it put you in an position to never know what was going to happen next. LOVED.

5 The Past Has Come Calling Stars!!!

The minute I started this book with the opening scene I was hooked on this book. I’m a huge fan of Ms. Keeland’s thriller novels and this book is no different. I actually felt Elizabeth’s fear and surprise because the last thing she expected to be reading while grading papers was the retelling of the day that changed everything!

The more I read the more I needed to know what would happen next. There are so many plot twists and the story takes down memory lane while also keeping us in the present and revealing little tidbits. All this takes place when Elizabeth returns to her hometown to care for her mother. There are so many clues that Elizabeth sometimes thinks some people have ulterior motives when in reality that’s just their own little quirks.

There are some fascinating secondary characters that add just the right amount of paranoia to Elizabeth’s world. I saw some things coming based on what I was reading but then there were others that I asked myself how I didn’t see that coming! And that ending… WIDE EYED was how I would describe myself.

Overall, this was a fast paced thriller that held me captivated from beginning to end. I for one can’t wait to listen to the audiobook that’s sitting in my library because I just know there are little nuances that I missed while reading.

The best words to describe this book are: intriguing, messy, bingeable, spicy and dark.

Despite dealing with an unreliable and slightly unhinged FMC, I was able to get through this book so quickly because I just had to know what was going to happen next! But this story was definitely much darker than expected.

Add this to your tbr but check out the trigger warnings for it first.

Thank you Netgalley and Atria Books for this advanced readers copy!

Psychological thriller with twists
I have enjoyed romance books by Vi Keeland and this one is no different. It’s good, fast paced, keep me guessing and questioning.

Gave me “I Know What You Did Last Summer” vibes with the notes and high school. 🩵

Read it.

This book had me in a chokehold. The suspense, the secrets, the way Elizabeth was spiraling…I was right there with her. I had my own suspect list going and still didn’t see that twist in the epilogue coming. So messy…so good.

This is my second thriller read by Vi and I can’t believe how good The Unraveling was and now this book Someone Knows.

Vi Keeland was meant to write thriller stories.!

Someone knows is a dark, intense read. It’s very twisty and has a sprinkle of spicy romance but don’t get it twisted this is a thriller.

I recommend going into this completely blind. The story will have you hooked from the first chapter.

I can imagine this is amazing on audio. It’s now my audiobook list.

absolutely yes!

Vi Keeland is my comfort author and when I saw she was debuting a thriller last year I was immediately intrigued. Unraveling was insane in the best way so I absolutely knew I would be following along for more of her thriller stories and this one did not disappoint!

Vi is so good at leaving you wanting more at the end of each chapter it’s hard not to want to read this in on sitting! While some of this was predictable it was still so entertaining and intriguing and I will forever recommend anything Vi writes!

I cannot wait to see what’s next!

Thank you so much to Atria/Emily Bestler Books for the early eARC!

Elizabeth has been a college English professor for over a decade. It’s the beginning of the summer semester and she is gearing up for her year-long, online-only fiction-writing seminar. She reads through the first chapter of The Reckoning, submitted by Hannah Greer. Elizabeth recognizes the chapter, the start of a story about a high school senior and her teacher, because it’s a story Elizabeth lived. Her best friend, Jocelyn, was the student and, in the end of the true tale, Elizabeth killed the teacher. Someone knows what Elizabeth did and is taunting her. But who?

I thought this book was much better than the author’s first and previous thriller, The Unraveling. There were still elements here that would have seemed more at home in a romance novel and I still felt like the “protagonist is an idiot” trope did a little too much heavy lifting. I also saw quite a few plot holes and found the twists relatively predictable. That being said, the writing was good, the premise was good, and the characters were on their way to being fleshed out. I found the ending kind of unsatisfying, but unsurprising.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for the opportunity to provide my review in exchange for an honest opinion.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Atria Books | Emily Bestler Books for gifting me a digital ARC of the new thriller by Vi Keeland. All opinions expressed in this review are my own – 4.5 stars!

Elizabeth is a college English professor and enjoys her creative writing seminar. Until she reads the first chapter of a story about a high school senior who has an affair with her teacher. Elizabeth knows this story because she lived it. Someone knows what Elizabeth did twenty years ago and is about to expose her, but just who is this mystery student?

This was lots of fun, even though the subject of abuse isn’t. But it was a book-in-a-book format, as we periodically read chapters of the mystery student’s work that is way too familiar to Elizabeth. There are plenty of suspects in this one, as well as a past that Elizabeth can’t escape. There were a couple of shocking moments that I never saw coming – bravo!

Absolutely loved this thriller. My first from this author but certainly won’t be my last. Super fast pace and I never wanted to put it down!

This is a twisty ride. I recommend going in completely blind to fully appreciate the twists and turns. This has some dark elements, so I would check for triggers. The fast pace and constant suspense kept me engaged, and that last chapter had my jaw on the floor. This book is a contender for one of my favorite thrillers of 2025.

At the start of each new semester college English professor Elizabeth has her students begin to write their own books for the creative writing seminar she teaches. When she receives a submission by a student named Hannah, Elizabeth is stunned. That's because she knows the story Hannah is writing. The Reckoning is about a high school senior that is having an affair with her teacher. Elizabeth is reliving 20 years ago when her best friend Jocelyn had an affair with her teacher. She knows exactly how The Reckoning will end, with the death of the teacher, because she killed him. Somehow someone knows what happened 20 years ago and afraid of her secret being exposed Elizabeth must go back to her hometown to piece together who could possibly know what happened that awful night.

Vi Keeland is usually known for her romance/smut novels so when I saw her dipping into the thriller genre I knew I wanted to give it a shot. And I can definitely say I was not disappointed! There is definitely some spice in this book though but it works with the narrative and plot rather than being thrown in just for filler. I solidly thought that I had figured the big twist out early on, but Keeland ripped the rug right out from underneath me. There are definitely some dark topics introduced including child abuse, sexual assault, alcoholism and trauma but it's all delicately handled and in a thoughtful way that adds to the story. Gripping and fast-paced, Someone Knows is definitely a must read for the summer!

Thank you to NetGalley, Vi Keeland, and Atria / Emily Bestler Books for this ARC! Publication date is June 17th 2025.
