This mystery takes readers on a journey from New York to Louisiana. The story follows Elizabeth, a college professor, who begins receiving anonymous chapters from a student. These chapters eerily recount events from the past. A past she vaguely knows. But the unsettling part? They happened 20 years ago and she can’t recall who this student is.

As the disturbing familiarity of the words sinks in, she’s drawn back to her hometown, determined to uncover who could possibly know the details of what happened all those years ago.

Just when you think the pieces have fallen into place and the dust has settled, the narrative takes a heartstopping plunge into chaos. Every revelation peels back another layer of secrets, making it nearly impossible to put this book down.

And as always, nothing is what it seems.

Vi Keeland masterfully layers tension, weaving together Elizabeth’s memories and the lingering shadows of the truth.

Vi’s writing had me hooked from the very first page and refused to let go. Every twist and revelation pulled me deeper into Elizabeth’s unsettling reality.

Wow. This book had me guessing and questioning the entire time and kept me on my toes. You think you know who it could be, and then you think you’re wrong all over again. This was a page turner, and very well written. I would love to know what happens to Noah and Elizabeth after the fact. I can’t believe it was who it was. I won’t say what happens because I think anyone would love and expect the same surprise as I did. Great book, 5 stars!!

There are some sensitive encounters mentioned in this involving inappropriate age-gap, abuse, revenge, death etc. Just adding as an fyi.

It is always an adventure reading a book written by Vi Keeland! Elizabeth is the main character. She is a professor keeping herself busy and distancing herself from her traumatic past, She has kept secrets for over 20 years.

Elizabeth is smart and strong. She finds that someone knows her past secret, an anonymous writer. Why are they writing to her? Do they know Elizabeth killed her best friend's abuser when they were teenagers? Elizabeth also has a thing for a guy named Noah. They really seemed to like each other. How does Noah fit into Elizabeth's past?

Twists & Turns, Mouth Dropping, and Well Written! 4.5 Stars!

Thanks to NetGalley for the advanced copy! This book will be released 6/17/25.

I know Vi Keeland as a romance author who now also writes thrillers, but safe to say we can call Vi Keeland a thriller author as well.

I finished reading someone knows within 5 hours, this story had me hooked from the first page.
The author really messed with my brain, and I definitely didn’t expect the ending.

Do check trigger warnings before reading! There are some dark themes mentioned.

Thank you to NetGalley, Atria Books and Vi Keeland for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is a fabulous novel that I raced though! It begins with protagonist Elizabeth whom we know killed someone 20 years ago and now she teaches writing. So when a story comes across her desk with very familiar-sounding details, she is worried that the writer has discovered the truth. But of course there is more to this mystery than we could ever imagine as she searches through the recesses of her own mind and attempts to reconcile what she knows with what she doesn't. It's a fast=paced great story!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!

Wow, this book had me hooked from the first page! 😱 I couldn’t put it down—talk about a wild ride! Elizabeth, a college professor with a dark secret, is just living her life when bam—someone drops a writing assignment that hits WAY too close to home. Someone knows what she did twenty years ago, and now her past is coming back to haunt her in the form of a chilling and thrilling mystery! 🕵️‍♀️

The twists? Chef’s kiss! 🍽 The suspense? Oh, it's REAL. The fast-paced, page-turning story will keep you on the edge of your seat, and the darker elements add a little extra spice, just enough to make things extra interesting. 🔥

What I really loved, though, was the way the past and present meshed—like, I couldn’t stop guessing who was behind the scenes pulling all the strings. Every new chapter just added to the tension, and that ending? WOW. 🤯

Definitely a great pick for anyone looking for a steamy, thrilling read that'll have you questioning everything until the very end. Highly recommend! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Big thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!

Thanks to Atria books, Vi Keeland and NetGallery for the opportunity to review this book. Someone Knows really messed with my brain. I was thinking about this novel days after I finished reading it. There were many twists and turns in this story that really got me good. There are no spoilers here, so what I can say is that the story was fluid, with very interesting characters. Elizabeth is an English professor, who has a complicated relationship with men, who receives an assignment that describes a secret that she has hidden for 20 years. After reading the first chapter, she is both frightened and obsessed with the possibility that someone is messing with her? And only 2 people knew what she did, One person is her best friend and the other person is dead. How does this unknown author know what she did? She goes back to her hometown to investigate and meets Noah, who is a link to her past. This was a wild, sexy, twisted ride.

Someone Knows is a must-read! I absolutely loved reading The Unraveling, the author’s first published psychological thriller story, and in my opinion, this book has cemented Ms. Keeland as an author who writes great thrillers and suspense.

Someone Knows not only grabbed my attention immediately but held it throughout. I love that this narrative kept my mind working constantly - considering all the possibilities of what was happening to Elizabeth, and since I'm no ‘Poirot’, I kept getting proved wrong at every turn. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat and I found it very difficult to put my Kindle down when real life demanded it.

The ending is 👌 It's been a few hours since I finished this story and I can't stop thinking about it.

I highly recommend this novel to you to read.

This was a fun read for the most part. It was very fast-paced and had a lot of twists, which I like in a thriller.

The reason I'm only giving it 3 stars though is because some of the twists seemed a bit too far-fetched and too contrived. It took me out of the story a few times. I also didn't like how obsessed the main character was with men and sex. She was also quick to trust people and made some extremely dumb choices. A lot of the book contains very heavy triggers for me too, but was done in a way that I could get through the story without getting too activated.

Overall, it wasn't quite the book for me, but I did enjoy the thrilling parts (although I do wish there had been more) and the pacing. I also liked the writing style.

Many thanks to Atria / Emily Bestler Books for this ARC.

20 years ago Elizabeth left her hometown in Louisiana after killing a teacher that had an affair with her best friend Jocelyn. Now she’s an English professor in New York teaching a creative quitting seminar. When one of her students starts sending her chapters of a book that mirror what happened 20 years ago, Elizabeth goes back to her hometown to try and figure out who knows her secret and who is sending her these chapters.

I was immediately hooked with this story! There were so many twists and turns and just when I thought I knew what was going on, something happened that changed my mind. The ending was such a shock! I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to see the next thriller from Vi Keeland!

There are some spicy scenes and some very dark themes. Definitely check the trigger warnings for this one!

3.75 stars rounded up.

I have very conflicted feelings about this book. I loved the author’s last book, The Unraveling, but I’m not sure what to think of this.

The book is well written and I liked the character of Elizabeth. She felt authentic and I liked her wit.

The premise was interesting but things were a little confusing and the midway twist felt out of nowhere. Once we got into the reasoning behind it I feel like the author made it work but I still think it was a bit unbelievable.

SPOILERS BELOW:
Additionally I don’t feel like the twist at the end worked either especially given that the protagonist was truly a victim and Noah knew this. In this sense he is just truly admitting to terrorizing a child victim.

Regardless I did overall enjoy this book and look forward to what’s next from the author.

By golly, Vi has done it again with another great thriller.

I typically read romance (and of course, Vi is one of my go-to authors), but these last two thrillers that she wrote… well, I just had to get my hands on them.

Someone Knows does not disappoint. If you, like me, are a fan of the game of Clue, then this book is for you. You’ll be sucked into Elizabeth’s paranoia and her story from the beginning, thinking you have it figured out out, only for another twist to the story or a new clue revealed to make you rethink everything you thought you knew.

Oh shiiiiiiiiiiiit! Twisty twisty twisty! How could I be right and wrong and wrong and right all at the same time 😂 this REVENGE thriller is definitely worth reading. It’s a very easy and quick read, I flew threw it in a day

Someone Knows - Vi Keeland - NetGalley ARC Reader Review
4.5/5 Stars
2/5 Spice

English professor Elizabeth is already on edge because of a certain date and what it means, then one of her online students, Hannah, submits a chapter describing a scenario of things that led to a secret that she has kept for 20 years. Elizabeth goes through all of the emotions wondering if she is imagining things, what the person wants and who they truly are.

This book was addictive, intense, and twisty. I enjoyed how the past and present collided and we were shown both. As someone who is from Louisiana and left it was really interesting seeing the difference between that small town life to a bigger city and why someone would want to leave that small town life behind… or muggy Louisiana haha.

I thought it was really brave of Elizabeth to return to her home town for answers and kind of dumb.. I found myself wanting her to dig deeper and question more and not bother with you know who but once I found out the truth about what happened her behaviour made perfect sense.

I didn’t have a suspicion about Jocelyn until the chapter where things were revealed for what they were and I was shocked. The ending… OMG. I wanted so badly for it to just be simple but I am glad it wasn’t,

I truly felt so bad for Elizabeth and her friend and the rest of the young girls… I really need a bonus chapter knowing what Hannah does and how Elizabeth handles it.

Overall this read was amazing, I really enjoyed it. I couldn’t put it down. The twist and the paranoia were well written. The characters and their history are dark and heavy… their relationships are even darker. I can’t wait to read more books by Vi Keeland and I hope she writes some more thrillers cause this was a great one.

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced digital copy! :)

Someone Knows is not our typical Vi Keeland book. Elizabeth a college English professor begin receiving chapters of her past things. Things she blocked out and couldn’t remember who could be doing this? why now? Why twenty years later? Elizabeth is losing sleep everyone is a suspect the men she is sleeping with, her old best friend, the police chief, the strange lurking around the corner. Elizabeth makes a trip back home to find out who has been sending her chapters about her past, but what she finds is a dying mother.
Which only furthers her hysteria and memories come back. Elizabeth learns things. Things she blocked out. Things she didn’t want to remember. Things she thought she did,

Someone Knows by Vi Keeland is a twisty thriller that will have readers staying up late at night. College professor Elizabeth has to face old demons and her past when a student starts sending in chapters of a book that could be written about her friend's backstory. The tale of an abusive teacher and a vulnerable student isn't new but it sounds awfully similar to what Elizabeth and her friends experienced.

When she goes back to Louisiana, will she find the truth or just more twists and turns to the puzzle?

This is a really good book that I enjoyed reading. I enjoyed the twists and turns!

Someone Knows by Vi Keeland is a gripping and emotional romance that combines mystery, tension, and heart with a powerful storyline. From the very first chapter, I was hooked, and Keeland masterfully delivered a story full of twists, complex emotions, and unexpected surprises.

The story follows Elizabeth, a woman with a past she’s desperately trying to outrun, and Noah, a man who finds himself entangled in her complex world. When their paths cross, sparks fly—but their connection isn’t just about chemistry. The emotional depth of their relationship is what truly drives the plot forward. Elizabeth is a relatable, strong-willed protagonist who is determined to leave behind the shadows of her past, while Noah is the perfect mix of mysterious and caring, bringing out both vulnerability and strength in Elizabeth.

Keeland does an amazing job of weaving suspense into the romance, keeping readers on the edge of their seats while also allowing the characters’ bond to deepen in an organic, heartfelt way. The back-and-forth between Elizabeth and Noah is layered, with each new revelation adding a level of complexity to their relationship and to the mystery surrounding their pasts.

What stands out most in Someone Knows is the emotional depth. Both Elizabeth and Noah carry burdens from their pasts that shape their decisions and interactions. Their journey toward trust, healing, and love is compelling, and I found myself rooting for them every step of the way. The unexpected twists in the plot kept me engaged.

Overall, Someone Knows is a must-read for fans of contemporary romance with an emotional, suspenseful edge. Vi Keeland once again delivers a story that blends passion, mystery, and unforgettable characters. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a romance that will keep you turning pages until the very end!
