✨A very entertaining suspense book to spend the afternoon✨
Elizabeth thinks it’s going to be another uneventful summer teaching a writing class in college, when an anonymous student sends Elizabeth a story she knows very well: how she killed a teacher who used to date her best friend, twenty years ago. Suddenly, all her life is at risk, and Elizabeth needs to go back to her hometown to figure out who knows her story and what they want to bring it to the grave.
As soon as I read the blurb, I knew I needed to try this. It sounded like a very enjoyable suspense, without being dark enough to cause me nightmares, and maybe with a secondary romance plotline because Vi Keeland, the author, is mainly known for her romance books. It didn’t disappoint.
Elizabeth was a character really easy to relate to, especially because she killed a teacher who was grooming her best friend when they were only teens. While I figured out all the plot twists before they were revealed, it was still entertaining to follow. Also, I don’t really mind seeing things coming, because it means that the author wanted us to link all the details. I hate when everything seems out of the blue and you can’t really match the clues to the outcome.
As for the romance, I don’t think this can be labelled as that. You have a love story, but Elizabeth’s love interests are sometimes a bit suspicious, so you never know if she’s kissing her endgame or the person behind her never-ending nightmare.
Overall, Someone Knows is a book that you’ll read fast, with good pacing and an entertaining plot. I had fun reading it and it has a satisfying ending, even if I still don’t know if I’d rather have the open ending (without the epilogue), where you couldn’t confirm your suspicions, or have everything spilled out for you on the epilogue.
I kindly received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Vi Keeland's books always manage to keep me hooked and this one was no different, I found myself needing to know what happens next as the reckoning unfolds.

Thank you NetGalley and Vi Keeland for an arc of this book.
I absolutely love Vi’s romance books. I’ve been hooked for years, when I heard about her dipping her toes into the thriller genre, I was stoked!
Love her last one and couldn’t wait to read this one!
It started off a tad slow, for me personally, but quickly picked up pace as we got chapters of a story here and there.
A story of someone’s past that Elizabeth wants to keep buried.
But who’s sending them to her?
Who knows?
And what can she do about it?
That’s what she’s on a journey to find out.
She must trudge through her past and all the events she’s kept secret for so long.
Who can she trust?
“ My mind races with so many thoughts. Does Noah know who I am? Who donated that Saint Agnes statue? How long does my mother have left? I need to break things off with Sam. But the question my mind keeps coming back to tonight is, Where the hell is Jocelyn?”
If you want to know the answers, pick this up when it comes out, you won’t be disappointed in VI’s storytelling!

I just binged this fast-paced thriller in one day. The first big twist was a fun shock!
Unfortunately, the ending immediately soured the entire experience for me and I find it quite unsettling.
Check your trigger warnings.
Thank you to the publisher for a review eARC!

Quick mystery/thriller, started off quite slow, but the second half went quick! I liked how the backstory was unveiled through the submissions. Some of the plot twists were surprising, but overall the ending was predictable. There are a lot of sensitive topics discussed, so check trigger warnings. The ending is left open, which is a bit frustrating because I would like to know what happens! Recommend for a quick thriller read.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC.

A fantastic and thrilling read from Vi Keeland. I was hooked from the first page of this fast paced story …it kept me and engaged, guessing and very surprised with some of the twists.
Vi adds some romance - maybe a bit forbidden - that creates another whole aspect to the story. Elizabeth is a professor and as she assigns a writing assignment to her class…one of the papers sends chills down her spine and begin her journey of finding out who knows.
A great read!
Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for the complimentary copy.

This book makes me want to start singing: "♪They think she did it but they just can't prove it♪." But what if someone can prove it?
Elizabeth Davis and her friends Ivy and Jocelyn were thick as thieves in high school, inseparable, until the night their English teacher, Mr. Sawyer, was found dead. Friends like them help each other even in the worst circumstances. But a crime is something too heavy to keep as a secret, and to go unpunished, even if Elizabeth did it to save her friend.
After that fateful night, they saw no alternative except for splitting up, leaving town, and never crossing paths again so that no one would find the truth.
These days, Elizabeth lives a quiet life as an English professor at Pace University in New York. She tried to leave everything behind, but did she and her friends forget any evidence when they covered up the crime scene twenty years ago? It was supposed to look like a robbery, but maybe someone knew it was a crime, because now she's receiving emails from one of her students from the fiction-writing seminar, telling a story between a high school student and her male teacher. A story where Elizabeth knows all the main characters, this isn't fiction at all. The details and names are the real ones: Jocelyn, Ivy, Mr. Sawyer, this can't be a coincidence. This is personal, and someone knows the truth.
There's a lot of tension and mystery in this story, between discovering who's writing the chapters and Elizabeth's unhealthy relationship with her mother. You can sense her anxiety and how that drives her back to her old impulsive ways.
The lack of familiarity with her mother makes the scenes in the nursing home with her old landlord, Mr. Hank, feel very precious. He's the closest thing to family that she has, and his presence keeps her grounded when everything feels so unsteady.
"Despite the fact that he saved my life when I first moved to New York—two days shy of twenty years ago—by giving me a discount on rent and telling me where to look for a job, he sometimes can't recall who I am now."
"God, the brain is such a labyrinth of complexity. Precious memories fade like whispers in the wind while the worthless ones stay anchored."
Someone Knows was thrilling, nerve-racking, emotional, and full of secrets. There's a little bit of romance, but the main story is a mystery/thriller.
I didn't want the book to end, and after finishing it, as Elizabeth would say, "It feels like I might be awake for days, I'm so wired". How can one go to sleep after this? I recommend finishing it in the daytime and having someone to discuss it with.
Thank you to Atria Books, NetGalley, and the author for the advanced copy of Someone Knows in exchange for my honest review.

This book was addicting from the start, and I was so busy today while reading I was constantly trying to fit a chapter in every time I could until I could finally sit down and finish the last 40%. Especially coming after a major twist I was livid I couldn’t sit down and finish this one till hours later. Elizabeth is a professor whose student submits a writing project that writes down in detail the specifics of her freind’s murder and that’s just the beginning of the plot line in this book, there are so many twists and turns, and it keeps you guessing every moment, wondering who is writing this assignment. Elizabeth’s paranoia seeps into each chapter until you literally start to feel and watch her mind crack with the pressure of hiding a murder and unraveling all the secrets of that event.
Elizabeth also has a complicated relationship with men, preferably staying single with a few good friends with benefits and who these guys are and help Elizabeth in each step of this book help her heal, learn, and grow as time goes on. I remembered that Vi Keeland wrote another suspense book when I started this one, and it reminds me that I need to pick it up soon!

I really enjoyed this book! The writing style was great, the story line was different and unexpected, and was confusing enough to keep me interested without turning me off.
The unraveling of the FMC was enjoyable, I felt like I was right there with her getting paranoid and suspicious.
I suspected parts of the ending but was still surprised when the twists unraveled.
Thanks for approving my ARC, really enjoyed reading this one.

Someone Knows is one of the first few thrillers by Vi Keeland and my first. I've read and loved her romance, but this novel was something else!
I could not put this story down once I got into it, and the ending was literally jaw-dropping!
Elizabeth was a complex character that I flip-flopped between liking and not liking...but by the end I enjoyed her journey and then....the end....wowza!!

Me initially after reading this: 😯😧🤯
I’m still picking my jaw up off the floor.
I loved The Unraveling last year, and couldn’t believe it when I was approved for this title! I’ll be honest, I didn’t know what to make of the story in the beginning, but the more I read, the more consumed I became with Elizabeth’s world.
There’s A LOT happening in her life and in the story (things were messy af) and while that normally would muddle the plot line, it totally added to the excitement of figuring out who was behind the sinister-ness for me.
I don’t want to divulge much of the story and plot twists because they were THAT amazing, so my advice would be to go in blind. Trust me, you’ll thank me when you get to the last page 😉
This is probably one of my favorite arcs I’ve read this year and I can’t wait to get this added to my shelf. A must read if you’re into dark psychological thrillers tinged with spice! And it’s out TOMORROW!
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for this advanced copy! ✨

I loved every page and couldn’t put down this addicting, fast-paced psychological thriller!
Keeland’s writing style, well-crafted characters and unexpected twists made this story entertaining and thought-provoking. The alternating perspectives between present-day events and the fictionalized story within the novel kept me engaged and on edge. The blend of romance and thriller elements added emotional depth while themes of abuse and trauma are explored. The ending held one final turn, making this a solid 5 ⭐️ read for me!

This is a fast-paced thriller and I commend the author for her use of our disheveled main character, because this book really kept you on your toes. You felt like you were in Elizabeth’s shoes with this twists and turns of this book snd the fact that she was slowly getting more and more paranoid. There were several things in this book I would’ve never saw coming, but also, the ending of this book upset me a little because of the wow factor. The author chooses to use the epilogue to reveal another secret and twist when I myself thought the original twist was satisfying and thrilling! The epilogue made the story more predictable in my opinion and even though it added more wow factor to the ending, I felt it was unnecessary. Overall I was very entertained and I enjoyed this fast-paced story. I recommend if you’re looking for a short thriller that you will be unable to put down!

Thank you to Netgalley and the UK publishers for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I wanted to read this book after hearing good things about a previous Keeland book called The Unravelling, which I will definitely be going back to read now.
I was hooked within the first couple of chapters. The concept of this book was great, and the pacing was so quick that I just couldn't stop reading it at times.
I really liked the blend of romance and thriller elements, which gave it a unique feel and helped me get invested in the characters much more.
It did have a thriller trope which I felt has been overused as a twist in a lot of books recently, but I will say that it was well done here and wasn't the main twist in the book.
I did find the very end chapter slightly confusing and have been left with a few questions unanswered. I think this is deliberate on the authors behalf, but please be warned if you like your ending to come neatly wrapped up in a bow, you may be disappointed.
However, I'd thoroughly recommend this book. I had a great time throughout.

I enjoyed Vi Keeland’s last thriller The Unraveling, which was her first, and was looking forward to reading Someone Knows. This was just disappointing to me. I got to 50% and just couldn’t push through much more. For a short book the pacing was off and I was struggling to stay engaged. I just didn’t care what happened anymore. Elizabeth just becomes so paranoid and weary after receiving the chapters sent to her in her creative writing class. A story that mirrors exactly what she & her friends went through in high school. Please check trigger warnings, as there is grooming, which made it hard for me to read the chapters that were Hannah’s creative writing story. This one just wasn’t for me.

I was excited to have a chance to read a thriller by Vi Keeland, since I love reading her romance books, And boy this did not disappoint. I was really intrigued by the premise, it was something I haven’t read before. Vi Keeland did a good job of building tension: that I felt anxiety reading about Elizabeths journey into her past, which is what I like to feel when I’m reading a thriller. This was a twisty, psychological thriller with steamy moment that kept me on my toes. Someone Knows is fast paced and once I started reading I didn’t want to put the book down, and I almost cancelled my plans so I could finish the book. My jaw dropped to the ground when I read the last chapter. Thanks NetGalley for giving me an opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

"Sharp, seductive, and highly entertaining… “Someone Knows” is a secret worth uncovering!"
Elizabeth is a college English Professor, whose past resurfaces unexpectedly. When she receives a student's manuscript titled “The Reckoning”, detailing a high school affair between a teacher and a student, Elizabeth is struck with dread. The story mirrors a dark chapter from her own life—her best friend Jocelyn's affair with their teacher, which ended in the teacher's death. And Elizabeth was the one… who killed him!
To uncover the writer's identity, Elizabeth returns to her Louisiana hometown, where she discovers that no matter how much time has passed, she can't escape her past.
"The past never stays buried—especially when secrets are dying to be told."
“Someone Knows” is my first venture into Vi Keeland´s work, and it caught me entirely off guard – in the best way possible. While Keeland is widely known for her steamy contemporary romances, this book showcases her impressive narrative control and range in a completely different arena. Her writing is tightly paced for the psychological thriller format, and it fuels the reader´s suspicion in satifying, unpredictable ways .
Though the core of the novel is a thriller, Keeland doesn´t abandon her romantic roots entirely. There are a few steamy scenes that add tension and intimacy, but they never overpower the suspense or feel out of place.

I’ve read a lot of the author’s work, & I was excited when she recently jumped into a new genre. I’m not going to say much about the plot, because I don’t want to ruin anything for anyone. This is everything a good psychological thriller should be. It kept me guessing until the end. I had trouble putting it down. It left me thinking about it after I finished.
I didn’t always like Elizabeth, but I’m guessing that’s what the author intended. She’s a complicated character. I was definitely rooting for her to find answers. Plenty of interesting characters. Lots of twists & revelations. The end was not exactly what I expected, but it fits. I wish I had a couple more chapters to read.
Thanks to the author & publisher for allowing me to read an advance copy via NetGalley.

✨What it is about:
College professor Elizabeth is stunned when a student submits a story that mirrors a dark secret from her past: a teacher-student affair that ended in murder. As new chapters are submitted, threatening to expose her secret, Elizabeth returns to her Louisiana hometown to uncover who’s behind the story, and realizes the past isn’t as buried as she thought.✨
💭My thoughts:
This was fast paced which I always love, and binge-worthy. Once you start, you can’t stop! It has a little romance which I didn’t expect, and though a little unsettling, it kept things interesting. I found some parts a little predictable, but that didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the story. Super fun and fast thriller I definitively recommend you pick up and out in your beach bag!
