When I saw Vi Keeland wrote a thriller I knew I had to read it. When I saw she wrote a second and I was lucky enough to read it early I dropped what I was doing and read it in practically one sitting.
Elizabeth is a college professor in New York City. She is teaching a writing seminar when she reads a chapter from a student that seems way too familiar to be a coincidence. As more chapters come in it becomes clear someone knows what happened 20 years ago. Elizabeth goes back to her small hometown in Louisiana to find out who can be sending these chapters and who knows what happened all those years ago.
The book was a fast read with some twists I did not see coming. Some were more predictable than others. I enjoyed the overall plot and it was fun to follow along and learn things as she did. My only problem was some details were added that I felt didn't go anywhere. Maybe it was to put suspicion on other people. The thing is they were not wrapped out at the end. They were small details but I wish we would have either not learned about them or had them explained. I won't give an example because it would spoil the book but after reading the ending I feel like if it was happening to me I would have done one research that made it clear what could have happened. Until the very end I had a higher rating in mind. Other than that I really enjoyed the book and would read another one of her thrillers if she comes out with more!
Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for this opportunity to read this book early in exchange for an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for this ARC.
Someone Knows was an interesting and quick read. Rating it 3.5 (rounded down due to NG not having .5 ratings) because I feel as if there was a bit too much going on and there were some plot holes that were not wrapped up by the end of the book. The storyline in itself was promising and I enjoyed it. The MC was kind of insufferable lol but understandably she had a lot going on. Also the timeline throughout the book was slightly confusing. Overall I did enjoy this book and am looking forward to reading more books by this author.

My second time reading Vi Keeland was definitely a good experience! Someone Knows was a very well written book. I did struggle with some of the characters, especially Noah. I couldn’t stand his “darlin” nicknames for the female characters in the book. Elizabeth grew on me as her character developed throughout the book, as did her mother. The twists in this book were good. I liked that they were sprinkled throughout the story rather than all at once at the end. The ending was very satisfying, and the final chapter left a nice little shock factor for the reader. I would definitely recommend this book to other readers and will continue to keep my eyes open for further titles from this author..
Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Vi Keeland steps away from her usual romance and dives into the world of psychological thrillers with Someone Knows — and the result is an absolute page-turner. This book is a perfect mix of suspense, secrets, and just enough romance to keep things sizzling. Elizabeth, a respected college English professor, is used to the excitement of new semesters and fresh stories — until one particular submission lands on her desk. The Reckoning isn’t just a piece of fiction; it’s a mirror of Elizabeth’s dark past — a past she’s tried desperately to forget. The story tells of a high school girl’s affair with her teacher and ends with the teacher’s murder. The problem? Elizabeth knows the story all too well because she was there… and she’s the one who killed him. As more chapters arrive, Elizabeth becomes increasingly terrified. Someone knows what she did 20 years ago — and they’re getting closer to revealing the truth. Desperate for answers, she returns to her hometown in Louisiana, only to find that the past isn’t finished with her yet.

1 Gripping Premise: From the very first chapter, the mystery grabs hold and doesn’t let go. The idea of a story-within-a-story, revealing real-life secrets, is absolutely brilliant.
2 Complex, Flawed Protagonist: Elizabeth is smart, strong, and haunted by guilt — and her fear is palpable. You’ll root for her even when you’re questioning her choices.
3 Atmospheric and Tense: The return to Elizabeth’s Louisiana hometown adds a layer of eerie nostalgia and danger. The tension builds with every chapter as old secrets start to surface.
4 A Perfect Balance of Suspense and Emotion: While the thriller elements take center stage, the book also explores friendship, regret, and how far people will go to protect themselves.

Thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books for giving me an advance copy.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for this eARC!!
This book had me in suspense right up to the very last chapter. I appreciated how it shifted seamlessly between memories and the present day. I would definitely be interested in reading more from this author!

good mystery of a English professor who gets a story of what happened on one night 20 years ago. slight romance and trying to solve the mystery of the emails and meeting the son of a teacher. good book.

WOWZA....
My go-to genre is romance. I have been dipping my toes into mystery/thrillers with Freida so I thought I would shake it up and check out Vi's newest thriller "Someone Knows."
HOLY ENDING! I have to start there....of course the book was a total mind#$% but that ending, NEVER SAW IT COMING! I literally pride myself on knowing endings of shows, movies, books, etc before they happen. Originality of stories is just so hard nowadays. But what Vi was able to do with this story, I just can't put into words.
Needless to say, this is a must read for anyone who loves a thriller. Bonus is that some of the "naughty" scenes were a great reminder of why Vi Keeland is such an amazing romance author too! I encourage you to read Liz's story and meet the cast of characters...Sam, Noah, Lucas, Ivy and all the screwed up parents.
Thank you to Vi and Net Galley for an ARC copy for an honest review.

Whoa! This book was amazing and very well written! The author had put a lot of thought, effort and time into writing this! It had me confused throughout the book, but in a really good and suspenseful way. I thought I knew everything, then realized I knew nothing. The details in this book are remarkable. Not only was this book full of suspense, it had crazy sexual encounters as well. It was disturbing, dark and eerie. It made me feel sick to my stomach at times. It had me feeling overwhelmingly anxious and full of fear at times. I really felt like I was feeling the same emotions as the woman telling her story. WOW, just wow!
Someone Knows is about a woman named Elizabeth, who is an English college professor living in New York. One of her anonymous students sends in their assignment. This assignment is the beginning of a story. When she begins reading it, this story sounded very familiar and was convinced it was about her childhood friend. As Elizabeth starts reading more and more of the story, she realizes it is about her childhood friend. Elizabeth has been hiding secrets and she’s not the only one from her hometown hiding secrets as well. She is on a mission to finding out who is writing this story and stops at nothing to figure it out. She even goes to her hometown, back in Louisiana. While she’s in her hometown, everyone is a suspect. She never ruled out a suspect perhaps living in New York, but this anonymous writer knew too much and assumed they had to have been from Louisiana. Elizabeth knows how this story ends, but who else knows? Who is this anonymous writer and why are they writing her this story?
This story contains trigger warnings. These trigger warnings include child abuse, murder, grief, explicit sexual content, violence and death. It may be disturbing to some readers.
This book takes you on an adventure on finding out things that you will never even think of! I give this book a high 5 out of 5 stars rating! Thank you so much to NetGalley, author Vi Keeland and Atria books for this advanced reader copy of this book in exchange for my honest review and feedback. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria/Emily Bestler Publishing for the ARC!
For me, this was a underwhelming to see the least. It felt uneven and there was never any jaw dropping moments.
I was really looking forward to Vi Keeland thriller after reading all her romance books but this did not stack up to other thrillers I have read recently.

Thank you Netgalley for this ARC.
Someone Knows by Vi Keeland is an engaging and suspenseful thriller that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. The story revolves around secrets, lies, and unexpected twists, as the characters are caught in a web of mystery and deceit. Vi Keeland does an excellent job of building tension and intrigue, making it hard to put the book down. The emotional depth of the characters adds layers to the plot, making it not just a thriller but also a story about personal struggles and growth. Overall, Someone Knows is a gripping and thrilling read, perfect for fans of suspense and mystery.

WOW okay - Vi Keeland slayed this! Highly recommend checking this out once it’s published in July! Vi Keeland is dipping her toes into thriller and think she did great.
What would you do if a shocking secret about your dead teacher surfaced 20 years later? When Elizabeth, an English professor, reads a student’s novel about a past affair between a teacher and student she instantly recognizes the story since it’s about her best friend…. And she knows how it ends.
There were some predictable moments and right when I thought I had it figured out - the ending had my jaw DROPPED. I wish there was more clarity with the ending, but I get why it was left open-ended.
Thanks, NetGalley & Atria Books, for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

Someone Knows
by Vi Keeland
If I could give this book more than 5⭐️’s, I would!
Vi Keeland is quickly becoming my favorite suspense/thriller author.
In her creative writing class, professor Elizabeth receives a students assignment that sounds all too familiar to what occurred 20 years ago when she killed a man. She returns home to Louisiana to visit her mom and try to uncover who the anonymous sender is.
This book kept me guessing until the end and took just a couple days to finish.

So good, so worth the read! I knew I was going to like it because of Vi Keeland's writing but I wasn't sure how much as I had only read her romance books. This was all the drama I wanted,

I love Vi Keeland's romance books, so when I saw a Thriller book by her I had to read it! It did not disappoint. So many twist and turns. I did predict the "who", but the story had me second guessing it.

"Someone Knows" by Vi Keeland takes a new direction from their usual genre of romance into a world of mystery and psychological thriller. The story revolves around the past coming back to haunt the main character but unfortunately, it doesn't quite deliver the tension and intrigue one might expect from such a premise.
Our heroine is an English teacher whose life is disrupted when a student emails a story that seems eerily similar to one the teacher once experienced. Initially, the story says it is something she has lived in her own life, but later ambiguities emerge, with it being about a friend. This shift in narrative left me a bit confused, as it felt like the plot was disorganized, and the characters were introduced to throw the reader off.
The structure of the book feels choppy between chapters in a disjointed way, making the flow of the story difficult to follow. Whether intentional or not it just felt like it was to throw the reader off the trail but it was very clear what was happening. The transitions often feel abrupt, and the plot lacks a sense of cohesion that would have made the narrative more engaging. While the mystery surrounding the story is what kept me reading, I was left feeling underwhelmed. There’s nothing particularly fresh or surprising about the storyline, and the conclusion was entirely predictable, which dampened the potential of what could have been an intriguing psychological thriller.
Despite my initial interest in the book, I couldn’t help but feel disappointed by the outcome. The themes explored—especially the darker, more depressing elements—never quite hit the mark, and the final reveal felt more like an anticlimax than a satisfying twist. In the end, "Someone Knows" didn’t offer anything truly original.
If you're a fan of Keeland’s other works and are looking for something in a different genre, this might be worthy of a read but I have enjoyed her past books more.

I saw this book offered and when I researched it further, it had great author reviews, so accepted the ARC . I am so glad I did ! This is a first time author for me, but I’ve already accepted that she will be on my favorite author list and I’ll read her books. This was a thriller, suspense full of a great storyline and characters. I took only 2 days to read it, had a hard time putting it down.. only negative I had was the “romance” scenes, but I’ll speed read it to get to a great story..Thanks to Netgalley, Atria and Vi Keeland for this ARC. 4 stars because it’s my first read by this author, and I believe there are many 5 stars to come ..

English Professor Elizabeth has always enjoyed the opportunity to review the students' work in her creative writing classes in hopes of discovering the next great writers. She is stunned when she receives a submission from a mystery student, Chapter One of a story entitled The Reckoning. The work brings home a tragic event in her past life that she was involved in and which nobody should have known about.
Her best friend Jocelyn was named in the story, which involved the death of a professor. A death that Elizabeth knew only too well because she killed him.
A panicked Elizabeth fears her secret will now become public. When she returns to her hometown in Louisiana, desperate to find out who is writing the chapters, she discovers that she will never be able to erase her past.

This book kept me guessing until the end - literally until the last chapter.
I liked how the book moved from memories to present day to writing excerpts
I would definitely read more from this author.

Thank you for the opportunity to preview Someone Knows.
I have read the previous novel by this author and liked it
I would say her novel centers on women with “issues”. I like that very much.
This is fast paced and intriguing.
Elizabeth is a teacher with secrets. While working as a summer teacher she is sent a homework assignment from a young woman. The strange part is this story sounds familiar to her. Like her actual life.
Elizabeth must find out who has sent this to her.
Elizabeth’s past from twenty ago haunts her and she has been running away from it. But the past is rearing its head and she must find a way to keep it from being her present.
I did like this book and wanted to know what and who is responsible for putting her on blast.
Good who done it with a surprise ending. 4 stars

This kept me up reading way too late!!! I loved it! I have read from this author before and love her writing. Very good pacing and good twists!
