Someone knows by Vi Keeland
This was my first book from this author and honestly… I’m hooked!
When an English professor is inundated with papers from her students and is dealing with the daily mundane assignments. She thinks nothing of the emails that come from one of her creative writing seminars. However when the first chapter is written about a close personal memory of a traumatic event from her past. It becomes a page turner and a fight to find out who is sending the ominous emails.
Revisiting her past when only one other person knows the truth becomes a mad dash to get to the bottom of finding out who else knows!
I loved the fast paced read. I devoured this authors world and was soaked up in the monotony of chaos. I loved this book. What a fantastic popcorn thriller!
Thank you NetGalley and Atria books.

Thank you to Atria Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review! Someone Knows was SO gripping and unputdownable I finished it one day! It gripped me from the very start and didn’t stop until the very last page.
Imagine you are a professor with a dark secret only you and your best friend share and one of your students begins emailing you an eerily similar story to the secret you intended to take to the grave. You are thrown right back into the past you tried desperately to escape and left trying to figure out who exactly is sending these emails.
There were 2 twists in this book that left my jaw on the floor! I thought I had it all figured out and that the twist had been revealed until I reached the very end of the book. The twist in the middle of the book was so good I wish it had been elaborated on more, it felt like a bomb was dropped and then quickly skipped past.
I wasn’t expecting quite so much spice in this book, but did enjoy the romantic subplot. Overall I would highly recommend if you’re looking for something super entertaining, fast-paced, and bingeable!

Short synopsis: Elizabeth is a creative writing college professor, her past comes back to haunt her when she reads chapter 1 of a hauntingly familiar story. The story of a high school student having an affair with a teacher.
My thoughts: I’m going to start with warning you, there are LOTS of triggers in this. By the description alone you can probably guess a few, but protect yourself and check them out if you’re sensitive.
I flew through this. Short and absolutely bingeable. I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough. The twists had my head spinning, I actually gasped out loud multiple times, and oh my goodness that ending!
Read if you love:
* Dark and twisty thrillers
* Visiting the hometown you left behind
* Flashbacks
* Hidden secrets
* Jaw dropping moments

I really enjoyed this! I was sucked in from the first chapter and it had me hooked the whole way through!
Elizabeth is an English professor who receives a very interesting submission from a student. The work submitted sends Elizabeth into a spiral that leads to her revisiting the ghosts of her past to try and unravel the truth.
The twists and turns in this one had me unable to put the book down. I ate it up in record time! I kind of predicted a few of the twists but not completely. The way things actually panned out as a whole differed from my predictions and my jaw was on the floor in the last 10% of the book!
There were a few little details that I feel were ghosted over in the end but it didn’t take away from the overall reading experience.
This book is fast paced and compelling. I would definitely recommend if you’re a fan of Frieda McFadden and similar authors.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to read this one!

I love a good psychological thriller…have it based in my home state!! Automatic five stars…just as long as Im not around Minton Parish 🫣
Y’all, Vi has done it again. Someone Knows both answered all my questions & left me wanting more. Just like The Unraveling I found myself hoping for this story to continue…

Someone Knows by Vi Keeland is a fast paced and addictive thriller that had me hooked from the first page. The story follows Elizabeth, a college English professor whose past comes back to haunt her when a student starts submitting chapters of a novel that sound way too familiar. This book is a perfect mix of suspense and drama. Elizabeth is a complex character, and I loved how the tension built as she was forced to return to her hometown to uncover who was behind the mysterious manuscript. The twists kept coming, and while I had a few theories, the ending still surprised me. If you love thrillers with a bit of spice and plenty of secrets, this one is definitely worth the read!

In Someone Knows, Vi Keeland continues to mix her usual romantic fare with a psychological mystery, delivering a story about buried secrets and haunting pasts. The novel follows Elizabeth, a college English professor who’s completely jolted when a student submits a chapter for her creative writing seminar that mirrors a dark chapter from her own past: a story about an affair between a student and teacher that ends in murder. Elizabeth recognizes the tale immediately and knows how it ends because she's lived it AND she's the killer.
I was genuinely excited for this ARC after being pleasantly surprised by Keeland's previous novel, The Unraveling, The initial setup for this novel is compelling. The plot is fast-paced, full of twists, and easy to get swept up in. Keeland keeps the chapters short and the suspense element is strong enough to make this a quick and engaging read. With that said, some elements didn’t fully land for me. There is a reveal at the halfway mark that felt a bit predictable. And a number of side characters are introduced, presumably to create red herrings, but many felt underdeveloped or unnecessary which ended up cluttering the narrative more than adding mystery. One of the more jarring aspects was the shift in tone. The book alternates between present-day scenes with romantic tension and spice, and flashbacks that involve disturbing sexual content (check TWs). This contrast created some tonal whiplash, making the reading experience feel uneven.
Despite that, Someone Knows had a unique premise and enough suspense to hold my attention. There were a couple of twists at the end that I didn't expect so it picked up the momentum. And just like The Unraveling, expect a clever last chapter to keep you on your toes. I would still recommend it to readers as a poolside read who psychological thrillers and small town secrets. SOMEONE KNOWS comes out June 17.

Holy heck! I am absolutely gob smacked! To tell you this has a twist doesn’t even come close to spoiling it for you. This author carefully crafted a tale that is so multi-layered and intricately woven despite guessing everyone and everything, I felt the bottom drop out from under me. It was impossible to set this book aside and I found myself reading late into the night, during every spare minute through the day and while I was eating. I became quite anti-social but I don't regret a minute of it.
While the main protagonist is difficult to like at times, the reasons are understandable. The mystery she is pulled into had me chewing at my nails and fighting against the temptation to flip to the back of the book. Her character was beautifully developed as were the other characters and I could not have been more caught up in a story than I was.
Be forewarned, this touches on some very sensitive subjects and not for gratuitous reasons. It is done with intention and care.

If you're a fan of psychological thrillers that explore the depths of human emotion and the consequences of buried secrets, Someone Knows is a must-read. Keeland's transition from romance to thriller is seamless, delivering a story that's both heart-wrenching and suspenseful.

I really enjoyed the buildup of this. A college professor with a dark secret in her past. Focusing on deeply rooted memories, past choices that have shaped ones life, guilt, and developing fears, with multiple twists, *and* spice - this kept me turning the pages.
I found the ending to be a bit predictable, but overall, this story is very engaging and a wildly fun read.
This was my second time reading the author - and I’m looking forward to reading more.

Oh my gosh, Vi Keeland has done it again and made a thriller that made my mouth just drop to the floor with this book! I read this book in a little over two days and was completely captivated with it the whole time. Last year I read her book *The Unraveling* and absolutely loved it, too.
Elizabeth Davis is a professor and is living her best life, which is single with no strings attached. She's teaching a summer writing course where her students send her chapters of a fiction book and one of the chapters she receives hits a little too close to home and makes her realize that someone knows her deep, dark life shattering secret and it's about to completely upend her whole life.
This thriller truly gets it done when it comes to the twists and turns, making my jaw drop more than once and as for the romance portion, well, it's more smut than romance, which was fine to me and added even more depth to book. This book kept me hooked and riveted the whole time I was reading it. I didn't find it to be predictable and enjoyed every damn bit of it!
The ending was a little abrupt and definitely left me with a few questions, instead of being wrapped up nice and neat and that was my only issue.
Thank you to Atria/Emily Bestler Books and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
This book will be released June 17th and is not to be missed because it was definitely a great, thrilling read!

5 Stars ... I couldn't put this book down!
I was captivated from beginning to end! I love a good mystery and this book had me guessing all the way through. I loved how the high school part was told through chapters in a book ... going back and forth between the past and the present. Elizabeth thought she had her life all figured out, but when her secrets were going to be revealed, everything came tumbling down. I was not expecting the ending ... AT ALL!
When Elizabeth was a senior in high school, she killed a teacher ... the teacher who was abusing her best friend Jocelyn. The next day they both left their small town in Louisiana ... Jocelyn went to Florida and Elizabeth went to New York City and they agreed to never contact one another ever again. Twenty years later Elizabeth is an English professor and she's teaching a creative writing summer class. When she receives the first chapter from one of her students and it's about a high school teacher who has an affair with one of his students ... Elizabeth is uneasy. But as the student submits the chapters, Elizabeth realizes that this is their story ... but who would know. Elizabeth goes to Louisiana to see if she can find out who. But she gets more than she bargained for.
I received an ARC courtesy of Atria Books through NetGalley.

This was written well, but a bit predictable. I liked the pacing, the mystery, and the whole creepiness of the book. It was a great read.

A provocative psychological thriller that's fast-paced and twisty...perfect for reading by the beach or pool!
Elizabeth is a college professor who receives a writing assignment from a virtual student who knows a deadly secret she's kept for 20 years. Who is this and exactly how do they know what she did?
If you enjoy your thrillers with dark, sexy themes, buckle up because you're about to go for a wild ride. The pacing and suspense makes this such a page-turner. I was living for the chapters with the writing assignment from the student that details all the secrets in Elizabeth's past. All the characters are suspicious and when that first twist hits, I didn't see it coming and didn't know how I felt about it. But I went with it and continued to enjoy the story. Just when you think the ending is here, she drops another shocking bombshell. This was a juicy, addictive and clever thriller!

Big thanks to NetGalley and Atria for the advance copy in exchange for review!
This one was a bit of a roller coaster for me. The premise was so intriguing I was immediately sucked in, but it became a bit predictable.
Elizabeth is a college professor with a whole lot going on. One of her students submits a creative writing assignment that’s too close to home to be a coincidence, and everything unravels from there sending her down a 20 year-old rabbit hole. I felt like she kept changing course too soon in her investigations, but I still remained hooked!
Honestly, the end ruined it for me. I saw it coming from a mile away, and it left way too much unanswered to provide much satisfaction.
Be sure to check your trigger warnings before starting this one!

Vi Keeland’s Someone Knows plunges readers into a gripping psychological thriller where past secrets threaten to upend a carefully constructed life. English professor Elizabeth leads a quiet existence, teaching an online creative writing seminar—until one chilling submission disrupts her sense of security. The anonymous story recounts an incident from twenty years ago, an event she never expected to resurface. As fear grips her, Elizabeth wrestles with the uncertainty of who might know her past and whether her hidden truth is on the verge of exposure.
Keeland expertly weaves tension into the narrative, exploring the weight of secrets and the unpredictable consequences of buried histories. The novel doesn’t shy away from difficult themes, challenging readers with moments that can be emotionally intense. While the suspense remains compelling throughout, the conclusion may leave some wishing for a more satisfying resolution. Despite that, it’s a solid and engaging read worthy of four stars.

I love sexy thrillers. In fact, I want all my thrillers to be sexy. This definitely delivered in that aspect. I don't think it was super twisty, and I wish the investigative parts had been a little more exciting, but I enjoyed reading this. The ending was pretty chilling.

Mind Blown. Devoured this book in one night, couldn’t put it down. Such a riveting story that takes a hold of you. Bonus… you don’t see the end coming.
Oh my goodness I loved this book.

I'm somewhere between a 3 and a 4 so I'll round up. I really struggled with the subject matter of the book - teacher/student, especially the way the teacher treated the student during these encounters. I didn't understand the infatuation with Mr. Sawyer because the guy just seemed like a d***. I give it a higher rating because of Keeland's writing style and the couple twists - one of which has me thinking that maybe there will be a second book?
Thank you to NetGalley, Keeland, and the publisher for this ARC.

I don’t even know where to begin with, so let’s be direct: READ THIS BOOK!!!
I’m shook! Vi Keeland, I will read all the thrillers you write!

Imagine you are a creative writing professor and one day you receive an email with a story for you to review.. but the story is about your life and your deep dark secrets, that nobody knows! What a wild ride! When I tell you that this surprised me until the last sentence!!!! 5 stars + favorite without a doubt!
