In Someone Knows, Vi Keeland steps away from her usual romance-driven narratives to deliver a slow-burning mystery that is both atmospheric and emotionally grounded. This story is less about high-speed chases or shocking reveals and more about the quiet unraveling of a life shadowed by secrets.
The novel follows a character haunted by the past—by a truth that refuses to stay buried and memories that echo louder with each passing day. The tension builds gradually, like a storm you feel before you see. Keeland’s writing here is measured, thoughtful, and steeped in emotional nuance.
🖤 What Stands Out:
• The narrative is beautifully introspective, offering more than just suspense. It’s about the emotional cost of silence, guilt, and unresolved trauma.
• The characters are well-developed and flawed in a way that feels deeply human.

Someone Knows completely pulled the ground out from under me—and I mean that in the best possible way. I picked it up expecting a gripping thriller, but what I got was a full-body experience that left me breathless, obsessed, and emotionally destroyed by that ending. I don’t even know what to do with myself right now.
This book is dark, emotional, and full of haunting suspense. The tension builds from the very first chapter, when Elizabeth reads a student’s story that mirrors a deadly secret from her past. From that moment on, I was hooked.
The twists? Brilliant.
The writing? Razor sharp.
The pacing? Unputdownable.
And the ending? Don’t even get me started— it will mess you up...
If you thought Vi Keeland was just about romance, think again. This book proves she can do chilling, twisted, and psychological just as well. Someone Knows isn’t just a thriller—it’s a storm of emotion, regret, suspense, and reckoning.
READ. THIS. BOOK.
And then message me when you finish, because we need to talk about that ending together...

This is the second thriller I’ve read from this author and it was so good! Her thrillers are a mix of romance and mystery/thriller. It’s a good combination of both! Although this isn’t your typical love story. Every chapter ends with you wanting to read more and the twists and turns just kept going! The ending had my jaw on the floor and I loved it! If you enjoyed The Teacher by Freida McFadden you’d enjoy this one! This does have spice and some triggering topics so keep that in mind. I will definitely read more thrillers from this author!

Mind blown 🤯 The very end...my goodness...I never saw it coming. Someone Knows is full of great plot twists! 👏 Vi Keeland's has done it again, she's written another mind-bending book that had me guessing, doubting, double checking, and wondering who "it" was right up until the very last page.
Elizabeth Davis lives an unassuming life. As a professor of English her life is fairly mundane and structured. The one class she looks forward to breaking up her daily life is a seminar she teaches in creative writing. However, she wasn't prepared for her past to appear in her present and reveal a secret she's kept buried for twenty years.
As Elizabeth feels her mind begin to unravel, she doesn't know who to believe in her quest to understand who is digging up the past. The student who keeps sending her chapters of a long, dead secret is just as much of a mystery of the actual past she'd hoped was buried alongside the man who died twenty years ago. Unfortunately, her past is haunting her and the list of suspects is growing.
This book kept me guessing right along with Elizabeth and the ending was a jaw dropping surprise 😮 My best advice...don’t spoil it and read ahead. Trust me, you'll love all the twisty surprises!
Thank you to Netgalley and Atria Books for the advance review copy and all opinions are my own.

I've enjoyed several of Vi's romance novels and for a thriller, SOMEONE KNOWS was pretty good.
However, there were several issues that are keeping me from giving a four-star review.
* I felt there were a few questions that were unanswered about the plot and characters. Perhaps it's my slow-moving brain, but I'm still left with things that weren't resolved.
* The ending was ... not what I wanted for the main character.
* I didn't like the digs at the Catholic Church.
Otherwise, the plot kept me very interested to see it to the end.
Thank you NetGalley and Atria Books for an e-copy of SOMEONE KNOWS to review.
I rate SOMEONE KNOWS three out of five stars.

Someone Knows by Vi Keeland is a fast-paced, emotionally gripping read that blends elements of romantic suspense with a touch of psychological drama. The plot pulls you in quickly and keeps the tension high throughout, even if some of the twists are a bit easy to spot. Keeland does a solid job building intrigue, especially around Elizabeth's relationships and the shadows of her past.
The romantic storyline, particularly with Noah, adds an intense layer to the narrative—sometimes thrilling, sometimes a little unsettling—which may appeal more to fans of darker, steamier thrillers. As the mystery deepens, the novel takes a few bold turns that, while not entirely shocking, still land effectively and bring satisfying closure.
Overall, Someone Knows is an engaging read that balances suspense, emotion, and romance in a way that keeps the pages turning. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely entertaining and worth picking up if you enjoy thrillers with a seductive twist. Many thanks to NetGalley and Atria Books/Emily Bestler Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A perfect mix of steam, tension, mystery. This book gave me chills on multiple pages! Is it a love story? A mystery? You’ll keep guessing until the very end! If you feel like you need a change after reading thrillers that are all the same or that contemporary romance is getting boring for you, this book will solve it!

Fast paced erotic thriller that grabbed my attention in the first chapter. This one might need some warnings . It does deal with themes of child abuse and power exchange. I was a little uncomfortable when the two overlapped. Felt like a bad rep for BDSM. The FMC is a woman struggling in life, and it can gets dark.
Second half of the book kept me hooked with the steady pacing and a strong twisty ending. Solid read if you are looking for a quick thriller.

Elizabeth is a woman trying to piece together the shattered remnants of her life after a traumatic event that still haunts her. What begins as a search for clarity spirals into a psychological thriller filled with secrets, lies, and suspicion. As she navigates her past and tries to reclaim her sense of self, Elizabeth is constantly questioning everything—and everyone—around her. Someone out there knows what really happened… but uncovering the truth might cost her everything.
This thriller? So good. I flew through it and could not put it down. It had me guessing until literally the last page—just when I thought I had it all figured out, BAM. Twists I didn’t see coming, red herrings all over the place, and more than a few “wait… what?” moments.
We follow Elizabeth, who’s dealing with a traumatic past, a boatload of secrets, and some serious trust issues (understandably). As the story unfolds, she basically starts gaslighting herself—which made the tension feel so real and kept me completely hooked. I liked her as a main character, even if I wanted to shake her a few times for the bad decisions. But hey, she grows, she learns, and we love to see that.
This was one of those books where everyone seems a little shady and anyone could be the bad guy. Loved that. Fast-paced, super readable, and full of just the right amount of psychological chaos.
Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for something suspenseful, twisty, and totally addictive.
Vi Keeland, you’ve got a new thriller fan over here

Readers, if your are a fan of Vi Keeland, fan of psychology thriller and you are looking for an edge of your seat kind of story, read Someone knows. This story kept my head turning in every direction. It’s kind of a mind f*&$% story. Even the end I was like what the heck happened here.
It was a well thought out and a great outlined plot. It was highly entertaining and highly addicting. I basically read this in a matter of a few hours. This is so different from what she normally writes, in my opinion that’s what made this story so captivating.
Standalone told in a single POV with an ending that will you baffled .

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
"Someone Knows" by Vi Keeland was a well written thriller with alot of unexpected twists.
The ending was a complete surprise.
I would definitely read another book by this author.

Elizabeth Davis is a 37 year old college English professor for the last 15 years at Pace University in New York City. Twenty years ago she ran as fast as she could from Minton Parish, Louisiana, her hometown because of a horrible incident with the local English teacher, Damon Sawyer. Now she is just trying to get on with her life.
When Elizabeth gets the first chapter assignment from a student called The Reckoning by Hannah Greer, Elizabeth reads it and panics. The chapter is recapping the incident from twenty years ago. The only people who knew what happened that night were her best friends, Ivy Leighton and Jocelyn Burton and they all agreed never to talk about that night, May 20th again. Elizabeth hasn't even talked to either of them since that night. At first Elizabeth thinks it just a coincidence, but when each new chapter reveals those hidden details, she knows she must travel to her hometown and do a little investigating.
Upon her arrival Elizabeth runs into many different people: Lucas whom she used to date; Wendell Unger, the local police chief; Father Preston at her mom's church and Noah Sawyer, the twenty-seven year old son of Damon Sawyer. She feels like they are all watching her. When Elizabeth finally reaches her mother's house she realizes just how sick her mom actually is. Turns out she has stage 4 cancer and doesn't have much time left.
In between dealing with her mother and trying to figure out what the heck is going on the mystery starts to slowly unravel. Just when you think the story is going one way....BAM.....it changes course. Once Elizabeth talks to Ivy she has a better understanding of things but in the end, things are not at all what they seem. In the end Elizabeth thinks that things are settling back into normal but nope....Vi Keeland throws us for another loop!
I could not put this book down! This story will take you on so many different twists and turns each one being crazier than the next. I really liked all of the different characters. It was fun how they were each woven into the story. Overall this book is an excellent thriller that will keep you on your toes the entire time!

Ooh this was quite a wild ride!
The beginning was a bit tedious and repetitive with Elizabeth being very paranoid. But things started picking up when she went to Louisiana. I kept trying to guess what happened and I never would have guessed it in a way. The last chapter though! It threw me for a loop! Like I want more answers!
I'm loving these psychological thriller books from Vi Keeland. it was a great read.

Thank you to NetGalley and Atria Books for early access to “Someone Knows” by Vi Keeland! First, am I a little freaked out that I finished this book on May 20th? YES! IYKYK. Wow! I went into this book not ready at all for what I got into, and I am so glad. There are twists and turns everywhere with a first-person narrator, making your information both more limited and all the more intense! I am usually that annoying reader who can figure out the who-done-it long before the last chapter, but this time I went back and forth and all over so many times! The book makes you feel terrified, paranoid, and also compelled to keep reading the whole time till you get to the end. I absolutely loved it.

I really enjoyed The Unraveling so I was super excited to get this book. This is a fast pace psychological thriller. Many of the twists you could see coming but that didn't make them any less enjoyable. I thoroughly enjoyed the twists and turns and the romance added in as well. This book is one you can sit down and read in one sitting which is always a good valet cleanser for me. I will recommend this book on publication day to those who enjoy thrillers and romance. Thanks NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I was hooked from the very beginning! This book was such a page-turner, fast-paced, twisty, and impossible to put down. I loved the way the suspense built with each chapter and how the mystery unraveled at just the right pace. The first major twist completely caught me off guard in the best way, and the plot kept me fully engaged from start to finish. Vi Keeland nailed the tension in this one! This was my first Vi Keeland book, and im leaving forward to reading more! I’m a fan.

Thank you, Atria Books and Netgalley, for my copy of "Someone Knows." So far, I like this book. It has mystery and thrills that gave me chills, which is what I like about reading.

I received Someone Knows by Vi Keeland as an ARC read. Let me tell you that when this book is released on June 17th buy it immediately!!
I was fully hooked from page one of Elizabeth’s story and could not put it down. This was such a well paced thriller that I never felt bored or that it dragged out. It kept my full attention through the entire book. Keeland did such a good job giving you mind blowing turns you never saw coming.
But the ending? GIRRRRRL. My jaw literally dropped. Like, cartoon-style dropped. 😲 I did NOT see that twist coming. Not even a little inkling! My mind is still trying to piece together all the clues I completely missed. I was sitting there in stunned silence for a good five minutes after I finished.
If you’re looking for a thriller that will keep you on the edge of your seat, make you think you’ve figured it out and then BAM mind blown. Then you must read Someone Knows! This book was Four Huge, mind blowing stars for me 🤯🤯🤯🤯.

I am so obsessed with this author now, I can hardly explain how much I have loved both of her books. This was easily a 5 star read for me. I truly am STILL thinking about it. I LOVED the ending and it was truly diabolical.
Highly recommend if you love twists and a good mystery.

Oh, to be a teacher of creative writing. Especially when something submitted (called “The Reckoning”) is all about a crime you covered up twenty years ago in high school. Elizabeth is the New York City English professor reading the incriminating first dead-on chapter from an online student and guilt overtakes her. She’s on edge, increasingly paranoid (maybe she shouldn’t be dating a detective) and decides to revisit the scene of the crime back in Louisiana.
Not as twisted as “The Plot” by Jean Hanff Korelitz but pretty straightforward as a mystery to be solved: Who knows? Why are they contacting Elizabeth and not the police? Why now? Plus, what happened to the other teenage girls involved? As a bonus, we get a book within a book as the mysterious student keeps sending new chapters. Elizabeth, however, can be hard to root for. She tells us she’s guilty but we don’t know the circumstances. And getting involved with a relative of the victim showed more terrible judgment on her part. Her mental health is questionable. But we know that Elizabeth needs help. The engrossing aspect is finding out if she gets any. 4 stars!
Literary Pet Peeve Checklist:
Green Eyes (only 2% of the real world, yet it seems like 90% of all fictional females): YES Elizabeth has green eyes, Mr. Sawyer has deep intense green eyes, and Noah has mossy green eyes.
Horticultural Faux Pas (plants out of season or growing zones, like daffodils in autumn or bougainvillea in Alaska): NO
