Thank you to the authors, NetGalley and Charlesbridge for this advance copy to read and review. All thoughts are my own.

Animal nonfiction is always a big hit in our elementary school library. This one will hit close to home as it features the work of our local aquarium (New England Aquarium's Sea Turtle Hospital), a place many of our kids have visited.

Each page of the book includes stunning and informative photographs with easy to understand captions. The vocabulary throughout is rich (hoist, dribble, glide, evaluate, stranded, sanctuary) and the form clearly outlines the rescue process. The book provides a gentle, but pressing call to action that will speak to readers of all ages. Additionally, it includes ways to help whether you live near or far from an ocean---always a bonus!

This is definitely a book I would add to our collection and be excited to share with our kids.

This book focuses on the Kemp ridley turtle and the experience of those that are caught unaware in northern waters too late in the season. I am incredibly intrigued by sea turtles, and I did not know this was happening. Most of the book is made up of beautiful photos with educational captions combined with shorter, easy to digest text that tells the story of the turtles and their journey, as well as the volunteers who rescue them. The last little bit of the book contains more in depth text about the turtles, including ideas for how kids can help protect them.

What a wonderful celebration of the rescue efforts for these incredible sea creatures!
This book takes an in-depth look into both the climate challenges and the issues faced by the turtles of our coastlines of Cape Cod.
The conservationists and the volunteers from all walks of life combine forces for the good of the endangered .Kemp's ridley sea turtles.
The story is very well written with young readers in mind yet is full of valuable information. The photography really ties it all together and the final shot of the baby turtle sums up why these rescue's do this work...for the babies!
I highly recommend picking this up and sharing with everyone you can. Any age can appreciate this information and stunning photography!

A fantastic non-fiction selection. Animals are always a favorite, this is an unusual subject, and the photographs are gorgeous. There is enough text that older kids and adults can enjoy this too.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. I will purchase for my library.

Turtles Heading Home! is a highly informative book that not only highlights the perils of the most endangered sea turtle in the world but also the efforts of the volunteers and organizations who work to ensure the turtles' safety. The book offers suggestions on ways to change our habits to make the oceans safer for the turtles to thrive. Beautifully photographed, the text is rich with details and activities of those personally involved in being a beach walker, driver, hospital staff member and even a turtle flier. I will be recommending this book.
Thanks to Charlesbridge, Lisa Ketchum, Jacqueline Martin, Phyllis Root and NetGalley for this ARC.

This is a fascinating story of how sea turtles are rescued. There is a lot of science in this book, but it is approachable for young elementary schoolers.
